So we go to the Cape every year and a few years back we did a blind ice cream taste test on no less than 20 different ice cream places on the Cape. This place was hands down winner. I stopped in today to try their breakfast sandwich. After seeing the price I figure it would be a high quality sandwich for 8.50 What I got? An egg that was 100% microwaved out of a premixed liquid egg carton, not fresh cracked- this is crazy for somewhere to do in 2026 and ask the prices they ask!!! Bacon that was microwaved too, dry, lacking flavor and since the sandwich was so dry it kept falling out with each bite!!! The bread? dry and untoasted, seemed like store bought sourdough if you ask me. The cheese, 1 teeny slice, that tasted like a Kraft single quality American- not something like a Boars Head or other that you would expect for a 8.50 sandwich. Overall this sandwich was NOT good and I am highly upset by the price to value. Jomamas down the road will sell you 2 sandwiches for nearly this price- and they are actually good, we Cottage st Bakery due to the line at Jomamas being too long for our toddler to wait in. A classic, American bakery with their specialty: the dirt bomb! It's essentially a semi-fried cinnamon muffin. We threw-out everything we bought. Terrible products. One display case had fruit flies flying around in it. (We ordered from the other section) The muffins were dry and thick, the brownies dense and gummy, the cupcakes just not good. Tiny place with nice people working there. read more

Yelp helped me identify Cottage Street Bakery as a bakery to visit on a recent Cape Cod Trip. It's a small bakery not far from a windmill along the water. Service was friendly. They have great stuff. I ordered a beautiful and tasty chocolate-covered, Thanksgiving color-speckled, coconut macaroon. My wife called her brownie (eaten before picture) a 10 out of 10. Maybe the best pies I've eaten anywhere. Stop by early as they run out of a lot of flavors early in the morning. I checked the Yelp app and saw there was a bakery just 0.08 miles away -I mean how lucky can you get! This is a small bakery with a ton of stuff. It has a Main Street address, but its kind of down a side street and doesn't really face Main Street. It was a real find! I've been coming to the cottage street bakery for years when we vacation in the cape. I've had just about every baked item on the list- my family has a favorite for each member. My husband is a fan of the blueberry muffin, my 2 sons love the dirt bombs (which is what they are known for) my favorite is the cranberry almond poppyseed muffin. It's amazing. It you like muffin tops which I do it has an enormous top filled with almond slices. It's super moist and delicious. They have terrific coffee to which we often enjoy and I find the croissants to be amazing. We have bought birthday cakes from them and although I haven't tried their lunch the menu has a lot to offer and the soups sound amazing. We love coming here for breakfast multiple times during our stay. We look forward to coming again next year! read more

Having grown up on the Cape but now living in Pittsburgh, I am pretty homesick for the Cape all the time. A few weeks ago I saw Cottage Street post about their new delivery program. I made a cheeky comment to my fiancé about how I now expected my weekly delivery of dirtbombs. Going out of his way to make Valentine's Day special, my fiancé ended up ordering 6 dirtbombs delivered to our apartment. I actually started crying when I opened the box (probably a mixture of excitement and homesickness). I came in for a tasting and I picked a raspberry buttercream filling and an Oreo buttercream filling for our cake. We are STILL getting compliments on how good our wedding cake was compared to other weddings people have been to. I felt they were very reasonably priced as well. Best croissants in the North East, perhaps the planet I already knew the croissants were superior, but when I learned my Belgian uncle was fighting cancer I knew what I had to do. So every year on my way north for vacation in New Brunswick, Canada I'd take croissants to him, knowing he'd at least eat them, if nothing else was palatable. Sweet little bakery. A little hard to find till you see it's basically a tiny house converted into a bakery! Unassuming and charming AF! While staying locally it was the most clutch place in a pinch to get a good quality cake made in a day or so for a birthday. They had very very creative little cards and candles for this exact kind of situation. Cool, hidden-gem of a bakery. The bakery is located on Route 28, a little south of 6A in Orleans. Driving here is a little confusing. You take route 28 north to get to the bakery, but Route 28 north actually moves in a southward direction here. The bakery is in a building behind the Ice Cream Cafe. They also sell bread here. The Portuguese bread looks very good. They sell something called a "dirt bomb". It's basically a muffin that's been moistened with butter and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. I didn't think it tasted much like butter or cinnamon. The chocolate chip cookies are extremely buttery. If you like buttery chocolate then these are for you. The peanut butter cookies were very good. They also had this vanilla wafer cookie with almonds. I couldn't taste either the vanilla or the almonds very well. I think I would have liked it more if they used almond extract instead of vanilla extract. There's plenty to choose from, including brownies and cakes. read more
