So I ended up with drinking water after. My hubby and I had the chiliquiles. So delicious. Beans, chips, the eggs were cooked perfectly and was a big plate of food. My Aunts had the French dip with shoe string fries and it smelled and she said was good. It was a bit hot inside without a breeze, stifling a little. A little loud once they got super busy. Wow. What a surprise! After driving in this neighborhood for six years, we stumbled on Eat Chow. Great food, coffee, and service.

My wife and I used to eat at Eat Chow at least once everyother month but then we moved out of state. When we returned for a visit last week end, we decided to go there again and found many changes. They had expanded. Where theyused to have a few tables outside pressed against the building, they now have a pleasant sidewalk cafe section. Inside used to be kind of an isle of tables but now they have that expanded plus a whole new section both areas bright an pleasingly decorated. What hasn't changed is their food quality. Eat Chow used to have and continues to have chef prepared food not just some hash slinger or some rookie throwing together sandwiches. Each meal I saw coming out of the kitchen was artistically plated. I didn't oberve anyone who looked displeased with what they had been served. My wife and I each very much enjoyed our lunch. Spot on flavors. Generous servings. Outstanding service. And all at a reasonable price. I recommend the reuben sandwich. My wife recommends the soup and salad. read more

I would like to start off by saying the food here was pretty good. I ordered the Breakfast Tostadas and they were absolutely phenomenal. The Breakfast Cuban was tasty too but it was rather small portion in comparison to the Tostada. Ordered an extra side of eggs and bacon with the Cuban and glad we did because it was so small. It was also rather mushy. When we saw "pressed" sandwich we didn't think it would be mushy. Anyways, the best part of this visit was the Tostadas. As for the service here, it was awful. Our server did not come once during the entire brunch to check in on us. She only came to take our order and to pick up the plates when we finished. Bad service is a huge red flag. When we initially placed our drink orders with her, they took FOREVER to come. It makes sense more for the food to take a while. But, why are the drinks taking just as long? That should not be the case. It was really strange. We saw tables that sat down way after us getting their drinks and food before us. I think our server simply just sucks at her job. FYI, skip the mimosa flight here. It tasted terrible I couldn't even finish it. I know restaurants usually use cheap champagne, but this was above and beyond gross. And their kitchen closes for who knows how long for the transition to lunch. I arrived at 1:15PM and they wouldn't seat us! I have been here quite a few times, as well as the other location in Newport. I wouldn't say the difference is huge but I do prefer this location as service seems to be a bit better. My favorite entree is the Breakfast Salad, the combination of pesto, slightly bitter arugula, sriracha and poached eggs is unmatched. Their Crispy Cauliflower is also something to write home about we get it every time we go. I have had a few lunch items but I am more of a breakfast/brunch girl myself. If you're looking to get an alcoholic beverage I recommend the Mimosa Sampler as all their choices are super tasty it makes it hard to choose a favorite! Came by on Sunday with no wait time. Host was friendly and there were plenty of open outdoor seating. We decided to sit outside. Waitress, Samantha greeted us and took our order right away. Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I realized 25 minutes went by and Samantha did not inform us of the delay. The restaurant did not seem busy and she didn't apologize when I asked what the delay was. The least she could have done when taking our order was let us know there would be a slight delay. How can someone possibly resist the tots?! Our meals came out several minutes later and the presentation was on point. The cheddar cheese around the tots were gooey and delectable; while the bacon gave it the savory component to the crispiness of tater tots. What an awesome appetizer! My duck confit enchiladas entree had a deep and rich flavor filling. The pomegranate sauce complimented the richness of the dish which also brought out the sweet and savory of the dish. Another well executed dish so hats off to the chef. Though, the side salad wasn't as great as I thought it was. Just an ordinary side salad so this was the only disappointing part of the meal. So first off, there's only street parking so that's always a challenge. The restaurant itself isn't huge and is mostly...long if that makes sense. We came in on a Saturday night around 7 and it wasn't that busy, we were seated immediately. There is some seats outside so if you have a dog, you know what to do. We ordered the BBQ Burger, Fig & Brie Sandwich, and of course the Parmesan Truffle Fries. I got the Iced Mocha with almond (or soy) milk. The fries came out first and wow that was a great way to start the long night. They were crispy and salty and had tons of cheese on it. It was thin and piping hot so you could tell they knew what they were doing. My iced mocha came out soon after and it was very good. Not too sweet but strong, you could taste the chocolate and the caffeine was kicking in throughout the night. The Fig & Brie came out and I appreciated the fact it was filled with a ton of well, fig and brie but it wasn't as ooey-gooey as I was expecting. In fact, it seemed like the cheese was just sliced and put on. It was good, but I prefer the one at Boudin's. The BBQ Burger looked delicious. It was stacked high with toppings and smelled amazing. Come hungry if you're going to order that. I also liked how both came with salads, because well, we all need a little green. Overall, it was neat place. The crowd was pretty interesting and the restaurant is attached to some trendy shopping stores. I was pleasantly surprised by Eat Chow. I split the braised short rib breakfast tostadas and the lemon mascarpone French toast. The breakfast tostadas were tasted and had a nice crunch to them. They were very similar to huevos rancheros without all the sauce. The French toast was super moist and melts in your mouth. It had the right amount of sweetness that was not overwhelming. I was not a huge fan of the coffee, but it was solid. I got a latte and it had a strong flavor, but was not very rich in texture. Check Yelp for a live wait time and to add yourself on the waitlist!! I think this location is optimal for meeting someone for brunch since there isn't too much going on around, so it seems that it doesn't get too busy and there's plenty of parking in the back. I went at 10:45am on a Sunday and there was no wait for 2 people. But, the inside was pretty full, so expect a short wait around 11am. They have some outdoor seating as well, which was mostly available. It isn't the best place to go with a large group. I would try to limit to 4 people to be able to get seated without a long wait. read more

Probably had to do with the fact it was 4th of July and most people were probably already headed to the beach and what not - we only waited maybe 5-10 minutes to sit at the counter top (that was pretty much open). Their crispy breakfast potatoes were NOT crispy at all. The cuts were thick, nowhere near country potatoes-like. If they were thinner, maybe they could pull off but they were thick like steak fries and undercooked. My boyfriend got the A.M. burger ($13) and oh my, this was huge! A pretty good breakfast burger, but not exactly the breakfast/brunch plate that we were exactly going for. Overall not a bad choice - burger was cooked well, egg was good - be careful! Took a bite of the burger and the yolk burst. Needless to say, we made a little mess from there. Potatoes were the same here. Disappointing. No crisp at all. They really shouldn't call it "crispy potatoes." Overall - The food is okay. More fusion and hipster menu. If you want a typical breakfast meal, this is not your place to go. If you want something a little more upscale with some healthy options or just an upscale menu, this would be the place for you to go. read more

The menu has this millennial upscale eatery with a touch of food truck vibe. Lots of unique options and damn, everything surpassed expectations. My wife got "the egg" tasted like a European dish with California produce since it was shlapped with arugula. The portion was appropriate but maybe leaned more on the petite side. My breakfast quesadilla was amazing. Large portion. Did not need the side sausage I ordered. The red sauce and chilis within were phenomenal. Moderately spicy. Not taco bell 10 minutes later spicy, but still slightly spicy. Prices are extremely reasonable. Think we paid around $30 for our dishes + coffee and oj. Visited Eat Chow during Covid when restaurants were only allowed to operate outdoors. Their outdoor seating has umbrellas, is socially distanced, and is dog friendly! I visited their Santa Ana location pre-Covid, which I think has since closed down :( I recall their Santa Ana location having bloody mary's but they did not have any at this location. Their brunch food was good, but it was fairly small and I left a tad hungry. It wasn't "this is the best brunch I ever had and I must return every weekend," but definitely a spot I will come to every now and then if I am in the area. Parking is mostly on the street so you may have to do a few laps to find parking if you come during prime time. read more
