Had a delicious and otherwise lovely brunch at Eat Chow today and will absolutely be back. The service was quick and attentive - the hostess was quick to bring water and menus after seating us, and our waiter was likewise right on time to take our order without rushing us, and checked on us but not intrusively/too much while we ate. The atmosphere was perfectly mellow, and the outdoor tables were shaded with large umbrellas so we all got shade making it nice and cool even though it was warm in the sun. I got a French Dip and the bread was toasted just right, and the horseradish just the right level of spicy but not flaming. Definitely on the foodie/gourmet side, my son got the short rib tostadas and and my wife got the fish tacos and they also both loved their dishes, portions well sized but not too huge, wouldn't change a thing and will totally be back. This place is a hidden gem, just off the PCH so you might not see it driving by but totally worth a stop. read more

06.08.2026 Weekday breakfast with my good friend brought us here. It wasn't busy but the place was clean and the servers were very attentive. Restrooms are single use (one men and one women) and they were stocked well and clean. Food was delicious and the servings were a good size. We split a Chow Benedict and the Churro French Toast. They were nice enough to split the dishes for us without extra charge. The flavors were good and it was great that the hollandaise sauce was not drowning the dish. Beyond disappointed!!! We ordered a Reuben sandwich tonight and they put steak on it instead of corned beef. And not good steak...it tasted like beef jerky. We called and the guy on the phone said the kitchen made a mistake because the meats are next to each other?! I have no idea how you mix up corned beef and steak. They are two very different meats. They offered us a refund but it doesn't fix the fact that we drove 20 minutes there and 20 minutes home and now we have nothing to eat. We eat at Eat Chow pretty often and I'm sure I've tried almost everything. My favorite things are: the crispy cauliflower, any of their tacos, I used to like their salmon burger but recently they changed their menu. I like their miso salmon bowl and Mediterranean bowl those are both nice additions that don't feel super heavy but healthy and filling. The spicy sausage pasta is also a favorite from friends, it's medium spice not super spicy. The truffle fries are also crispy and a good appetizer. The only thing I'd skip is their fig and Brie panini it's just okay. I love that they use moongoat coffee. My favorite latte is their cookie butter latte so good! Whether it's for lunch, dinner, or brunch.. Eat Chow is always a solid spot. read more

We were here at 1:00pm on a Sunday and could only order from the brunch menu that was 80% breakfast. I got the shrimp tacos with sauce & pico de gallo on the side. Stopped by Eat Chow in Dana Point and it was a great find. Fresh and casual spot with pleasant service. We ordered the Mediterranean Bowl and "THE" Burger. The bowl came with herbal chicken, avocado, olives, feta cheese, chickpeas, and brown rice. The feta and olives a bit salty. As a dish, bright, balanced, and fresh though! What a great little place. There were 9 of us, and while not a large place.......no problem with accommodating us. What a varied menu! While I was at the restroom, a group of young women asked to be moved away from us (my husband told me). It is a small restaurant indoors and that is their prerogative. As soon as I sat back down with her, the food was brought out. My older two children were very excited to get their food. My daughter was hungry and was making noises because she wanted to eat. She saw my food and kept reaching for it. Then, I believe it was the manager came over to us and said "we can't have babies screaming in here because of the other customers ". Didn't say anything else. She was not even crying. I asked the manager what his suggestion was and he told us to walk her around outside. I had already walked around with her and she was just HUNGRY And wanted to eat the food that had been brought out seconds before. He did NOT offer to move us to an available table outside. My husband and I did not feel welcome there after that. My husband took our daughter away from the food and walked outside. This caused her to start to ACTUALLY cry. The server was a sweetheart and had no idea that any of this had happened. She was extremely kind about everything. I wish I had her name.We asked to pay for our children's food/drinks and we left the restaurant. It was extremely disheartening to see that there was in fact a large table available outside on the far end away from everyone. If you are looking for a remotely toddler friendly restaurant, this is absolutely not it. We ordered four adult entrees, side of scrambled eggs, a mimosa flight and two dirty sodas. The entire situation could have been handled completely differently and the manager absolutely could have approached us and communicated differently . Hoping that he reflects on it and changes it for future families. But my family will never be back again. The streets were jam packed on July 4th weekend and the lot was nearly full. We somehow managed to get the last parking spot though! There was a little bit of seating outside and inside for those waiting for a table, which I really appreciate since I broke my leg a few months ago. The staff seemed nice enough too. I've eaten at both locations before and this was about normal. Good food, prices are above average but not outrageous, food is good and service is good as well. Parking at the Newport location is challenging, small lot and a dead end without enough room to turn around so upon leaving you will need to back out of the aisle to the street.
