We waited 35 minutes for a simple order, in this incredibly noisy place, with an out-of-control group of drunks at the bar, whom no one asked to modulate to respect other customers. Mediocre veggie burger. Good Caesar salad but small. Good waffle fries and avocado toast but didn't make up for the grating noise level. Got a patty melt to go and it was truly awful. The meat was terrible quality and much too thick of a patty for a patty melt with this much sauce. It was sloppy and greasy, and not in a good way. The enormous blob of unseasoned beef was sliding all over the toast making it really difficult to eat. I'm going to puke just thinking about it. The waffle fries were ok but must have been cooked with fish because they smelled like a fish sandwich. I would give the place zero stars if I could. read more

I don't know how to even start this review as I'm quite ambivalent about this location. This was our first visit and initially we felt quite welcomed by the bartender. They had a sign that said: "please wait to be seated", but they weren't busy so were told to sit wherever. We saw this with quite a few people that came in. No big thing; however I do feel like they could have spun the sign around and resulted in a few people who got upset with not being acknowledged right away that came in after us. This restaurant has what they call a metal brunch. During those hours, you can only order from the brunch menu. They play death metal music, but it's not loud so it's not a huge deal. There isn't a wide selection though and nearly everything has egg on it. I ordered a mimosa and my boyfriend got a beer. The beers are on a list on the wall. They have a cocktail list, but no beer list. There's no description of what the beers are but they have cute names. Our food was pretty good. My grapes tasted funny so I didn't eat them. They tasted like they were on the verge of being bad. They were super soft too like they were ready to ferment. The waffles were good as was the burger. My ambivalence comes from feeling like we were ignored once we got our drinks. We weren't really checked on except once and when my boyfriend ordered another beer, our bartender/waiter forgot it. He went to talk to a patron that he seemed to know and we had to remind him of our beer. The other thing I didn't really care for was the lack of sugar free syrup. I asked and was told they only had the syrup in little bottles that were already laid out. Everything seemed to have sugar in it, which I have to be careful about. Even the mimosa, they added Sprite. I didn't see it on the menu like that, so that's on me. The atmosphere and decor is pretty cool though! It's very retro like and I really liked that. read more

I popped in here one night after work on a whim and now it's become almost a weekly regular stop. Eat Crow has a relaxed vibe, but food that's supersedes any expectations from a casual bar. If you're not a wimp like me, you'll love the jalapeño cheese sauce that is served as a side option with fries, and also as the Mac-n-cheese base. It was phenomenal just a little too spicy for this kid. The burgers are made and cooked to order and so fantastic!!! The waffle fries are homemade and have a special spice sprinkled on them that makes them irresistible. Will I come back? Again and again and again.... read more

Eat Crow is becoming one of my favorite restaurant + dives in Soulard. They always have room on the patio, they have some of the best service I've ever experienced at a Soulard dive, and most importantly, they have plenty of options for both the vegetarian (me) and my meat loving companions. You can get the veggie Patty (which is delicious) in any of their varied burger styles. I'm also partial to the waffle fries both with and without the vegan chili. I have yet to try one of their Mac and cheese options but I'll be back to do so! read more

Our whole crew's food was delicious (the cheese curds, and especially the tomato dipping sauce, were amazing!), and the service was friendly. We came here for the halloween popup, nightmare on 12 street. They don't take reservations for the popup and we came on a Friday at 630pm so we expected it to be busy... which it was. We were able to snag a spot at the bar after not too long of a wait and order drinks while we waited for our table. The wait was about 1.5 hours (again this was to be expected, the place was packed). Our bar service was sub par. I don't think there was any rhyme or reason to who she served next so we ended up waiting longer than others and she seemed frustrated when me and my 2 friends all wanted to start our own tabs. When we got to our table, that server was great! She was extremely busy and running around but made time to make sure we had everything we needed and were having a good experience. The atmosphere was obviously decorated with spooky halloween stuff, but you can tell it's a cool restaurant/bar even when not decorated. Old wood, dark mood, and I loved that the menus were in record covers. We got 2 drinks from their halloween menu and they were fun, festive, and tasted soooo yummy. I got the prepare to chai and the stay puffed. We also got their spooky dip, a queso made red. Honestly it wasn't great and I wouldn't get it again. For a meal, I got the grilled cheese and it was so good. My friend got the pretzels and taco salad and she enjoyed both. The regular food menu had so many items I wanted to try so I will definitely be back to enjoy the restaurant after halloween! read more

They had this place decorated for Halloween when I went. Inside is kind of a tight squeeze but there is also a decent sized patio outside. We arrived at about 5:30 pm on a Wednesday and it is pretty empty so we seat ourselves. The menus are pretty cool. I didn't get a picture, but the covers are decorated with vinyl record covers. The happy hour ends at 6, so we were able to get $3 off the hummus and discounts on the drinks, too. The hummus was filling, and the toppings were delicious, but there wasn't enough oil in the hummus, in my opinion, which I think would have helped me enjoy it more. I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich with Roasted Brussel Sprouts and was very satisfied with my order. The hot honey sauce mixed with the gorgonzola cheese is a combination I love. The chicken breading was crispy, and the bacon added even more crispiness. The chicken was cooked well too. The brussel sprouts were cooked to be a little harder than I expected, but I enjoyed them just as much. They were served with something that looked like brown mustard seeds and way too much oil. Unfortunately, the oil took over the whole plate, and I had to move my sandwich so it wouldn't get soggy. I'm looking forward to coming back! read more

One Star is Generous - Eat Crow Needs to Eat Some Humble Pie! We stopped by Eat Crow on S. 12th in St. Louis, and it was an absolute circus from the moment we stepped in. The restaurant was in full-on chaos mode--not because they were packed with hungry guests, but because the staff was too busy playing TikTok chef with "free pancake art" to notice anyone walking through the door. No host, no direction, no acknowledgement. Customers were left to fend for themselves in a confusing, self-seating free-for-all while staff hovered over a griddle filming syrup smiley faces for social media. We sat ourselves at 1:31 PM and were completely ignored until 1:40 PM. When someone finally decided to acknowledge our existence, it was as if we'd disrupted a dress rehearsal for a bad cooking show. The menu we were given bore no resemblance to the one online--no mention of that anywhere, of course. We were told the actual full menu wouldn't be available until 2:00 PM. No signage, no heads-up. Just a "deal with it" vibe. We tried to compromise--adults in the group were willing to settle for the unwanted brunch item, but our teenagers were specifically excited for the specialty mac and cheese that this place apparently brags about online. I asked at 1:41 PM--a whopping 19 minutes before their sacred full menu time--if they could make an exception for just one item. Without hesitation, and with a well-rehearsed fake-apologetic smirk, the waiter hit us with a hard no. Not even a "let me check with the kitchen." Not even a hint of flexibility or customer care. Just a robotic "no," as if the kitchen would implode for daring to boil noodles before 2:00. At that point, we decided to walk out. The server looked shocked--as if expecting us to be grateful for the privilege of being treated like an inconvenience. We ended up just a few blocks up at a tried-and-true Irish pub, where we were warmly welcomed, ordered exactly what we wanted, and racked up a $250 tab with a $100 tip to a fantastic waitress who actually understood hospitality. We won't be going back to Eat Crow. The name might be clever, but the attitude, service, and disorganized chaos are a joke--and not a funny one. PSA to Others Considering a Visit: Don't take just my word for it--scan the reviews online and you'll see a pattern: * "Disorganized mess." * "All flash and no hospitality." * "Style over substance." * "Unaccommodating staff with zero customer focus." This place was sooooo cool literally a hidden gem in Soulard ( South of downtown Stl ) First off they were the only ones open on Christmas Eve was a str8 blessing. Me and my friends tried to find a good place and we found Eat Crow!!!! Soon as we walked in bartender was extremely cool and invited us to sit anywhere! We found a spot on the far right to the bar and it was a cool spot to see the entire bar from. The menus were made out of music vinyls blew me away!! Then the drink and food names was even cooler omg it's better and better so the bartender which is the server too was soooo down to earth I told him to make me a surprise drink. He made me the best expresso martini I ever had. I also tried to the honey hot and buffalo wings with waffles fries so yummy!! Now this is my fav spot to go too when I want some good amazing customer service and good drinks!!! Regularly stay in the Soulard community when I travel on business to St Louis. Had been intending to visit Eat Crow for some time, and finally had my chance Sunday. Coming in you enter a large horseshoe bar area with tables on the sides. Decided to sit at the bar. I was with my business partner, and we were hungry. I order a nut brown ale; my partner doesn't drink. We order the mini taco appetizer which was supposed to be filled with chicken. What we got was something out of the frozen appetizer isle at the market. They weren't filled with chicken, but with refried beans. And, as you can guess, they sucked. My bear was cold .. Win I ordered the cheeseburger, medium rare, with a side salad and fries. Got a well done burger, salad and no fries. Also sucked. My partner ordered the salmon sandwich with a ceaser salad. He said it was great. At least one win ... Go to drink, not eat. The bartender was entertaining, so service was ok. If this was up to me and my food, I'd say yuck to this place, but with my partner enjoying his sandwich I'll go with 3 stars. Eat Crow, your lucky my partner liked that salmon! read more

Love this new spot in Soulard and it's just one block from McGurks! We tried a couple of the Smash Burgers, Mac n Cheese, Waffle Fries, and you have to get the Cheese Curds! Everything was great! I loved that the pasta noodles for the Mac weren't mushy at all... perfect texture! I'll definitely be back for more of everything! Decided to try out this little bar out in Soulard while out with the missus. Imagine my surprise when I saw the album cover for miss Lotte Lenya sitting at my chair, otherwise known as my sweet Austrian crush (don't tell my wife!) I've always said I know enough German to ruin the language, but "Ich liebe Lotte Lenya!" Turns out, that was the lunch menu!The food came out fast, thanks to our lovely bartender Mikey. I had a Frisco melt and a side of Brussels sprouts. I'd keep eating those sprouts forever, but I know that my body just would not keep up with my love for them! Will come again! As an added bonus, the bar top is decorated with fun ticket stubs of bands that I like. They had bands like ZZ Top (pictured above), Van Halen, and Neil Young (one of my favorites!) I've always been a big fan of their metal brunch, and thus was super excited to check out their new spot in Soulard! We went in for a late metal brunch on a Sunday. The space is super cute. A bit nicer looking than Crows Nest, but it definitely keeps a similar laid back vibe. The staff is all super awesome, friendly and attentive. What was disappointing to me, is the menu is at least ALMOST identical to that at crows nest if not 100% the same. Was hoping to see a different menu.
