Went to the place for lunch on Friday and returned for breakfast Sunday. Lunch I had the grilled roast beef sandwich and the flavor was phenomenal. The roast beef was well cooked and the sandwich was grilled to the perfect golden brown. The homemade potato chips are to die for and the coleslaw was the perfect addition. The next day I returned for breakfast and ordered the baked potato scrambler. Also amazing flavor my only mistake was that i didn't order the fresh fruit instead of the home fries. I hope to return again if i'm ever back in the area because this place has it all! read more

Just stopped in for lunch after hearing how good it was. I wasn't disappointed, nice spotless little restaurant with very friendly service. I tried the grilled Buffalo Chicken sandwich with blue cheese, celery, fresh greens, tomatoes and Siracha Aioli which was delicious. The homemade chips were awesome. This place is not worth the hype. I went there for breakfast and was shocked by the things I saw. The chef was preparing a fruit cup for another customer when he dropped a blueberry on the floor. It rolled under the refrigerator so the chef got down on his hands and knees to pick it up and throw it away. He then proceeded to cut fruit and put it in the cup.... without washing his hands that he just had on the floor! Gross! He basically cross contaminated everything that was out on that table (knife, board, prewashed fruit). And why aren't you wearing gloves? I ordered a sandwich to go which was wrapped in paper and placed on top of a container of piping hot hash browns (sold separately) and in a plastic bag. By the time I got home, the sandwich was mush from the steam bath it got in the bag. (Ugh). So that ended up in the trash. The poached eggs I ordered were more like soft boiled discs with hard whites and semi-hard yokes (were they microwaved?) than a soft creamy poached egg. They weren't bad, but they weren't what I ordered and shouldn't be called poached eggs. For the money I spent here, there are far better places to go than Eat to eat. read more

Really good burgers, but just a suggestion here - let's spring for some SLICED tomatoes for the burgers. It's just not ' comfortable' to have lettuce, tomato and mayo and be biting into a squishy grape tomato. The chips are very good, but I so wish he would cut them just a tad thicker. Breakfast sandwich was great. Omelette( home fries/ toast/ apple butter), pancake, and bacon ordered as well. Friendly, fast, and clean. Nice neighborhood breakfast/lunch place. Great to have a place like this in the area. They don't do kid's breakfast as part of takeout which is weird but regular pancake was fine, huge. Would come back. I am not a bacon, eggs and ham kind of gal, so my experience here wasn't as stellar as everyone else's. First of all, this restaurant is listed as a diner. It is not a diner. It's a TINY cafe. Secondly, it's listed as a Breakfast, Brunch place. Not exactly. I came in after 10 am (I get up at 6 am), prepared for a club sandwich and fries for Saturday Brunch, but ended up having a bagel with cream cheese and homefries because they weren't serving bunch or lunch items yet. They did, however, ask me if I wanted a cold sandwich. They have one grill (understood) for breakfast items only until whenever lunch starts. But they close at 2. The dining area has 5 tables. We sat next to the bathroom. Unappetizing. Every time the door opens, whoosh of cold air rushes in. Maybe today is an off day for me and perhaps I shouldn't even be writing a review because I'm cranky and disappointed that my own expectations weren't met. I guess I was thinking, "hey, an awesome diner with a full diner menu and five stars!?" and I'm disgruntled that we drove all the way out there to find out otherwise. Overall, the place is clean, the service is friendly and my husband liked his food, and I liked my bagel and homefries. I won't be going back, though. read more

Wow! EAT is a great find! We came for breakfast but we were a few minutes too late but no matter as the food was delicious! My sisters had the Special, Grilled Caprese on sourdough - my niece had the roasted veggie wrap - I had the breakfast burger (because I really wanted breakfast) and it was perfectly cooked! I was skeptical of all the five star reviews. Thought the reviews might be planted by the owners. However it was close to her house, so i figured why not? This place is a true find! The vegetarian omelette I had was amazing. The vegetables were garden fresh. One of the best omelettes I've ever had. I live in Vermont. This place gives any restaurant in VT (the land of fresh food) a run for its money. read more

I think the menu is one of the best options for fresh, clean eating around. I have only gotten lunch take out but the food always tastes great! Salads are fresh and there is always 2-3 soups to choose from. They don't have gluten free bread which is a bummer, they seem like the type of place that would. Hopefully they will in the near future. The chicken pesto soup is the best! If its on the menu give it a try! I'm hoping to make it over for breakfast one of these mornings, sounds delicious. You know, I can be a fancy old girl. I like fancy restaurants, I like fancy food. I even know which fork to use and also know better than to eat my mashed potato with a spoon in those fancy restaurants. But ya know, there are times when I don't want fancy. Like most of the time. And so, after getting my lazy self out of the house to go and vote, I decided to reward myself for overcoming inertia and get lunch here. Wow, was I ever glad I did. Everyone else has said the place is small, and they're all correct. Being a single diner I ordered my food to go. I thought it only fair not to take up a table which could seat two people when tables are few, and customers are numerous. I ordered the Cuban Dog, which was the lunch special. After my abysmal experience with the last place I reviewed, where I also got the "special"...(Which was really nothing more than the stuff I think they were ready to 86 and decided to fob off onto the innocent and unsuspecting...) I was a bit nervous, but, thanks to the reviews of other intrepid Yelpers, I decided that a special from Eat would be special. And it was. Now I have to tell you. I love pickles. I'm a pickle connoisseur. No, really. If a place provides you with a pickle, and the pickle sucks, I consider that to be a degraded dining experience. The pickles here are great. Half sour. Not too salty. You won't cringe from vinegar shock. Now, cut one up and place it on top of a well flavoured hot dog, add some ham, melted swiss cheese, and just the right amount of spicy mustard, and you have the marvelous Cuban Dog which I joyfully ate for lunch. The fries were perfect. Crispy but not too crispy, not greasy,and something important to me- they were not a saltfest. AND there was just the proper amount. Not too many, not too few. So how did the good folks at Eat elevate the humble hot dog /w fries to a work of art? They know what they're doing, that's how. And they care about their food, their customers, and their reputation. They're doing it right, from the personable yet professional waitstaff, down to the little details which mean so much. Like the pickle. Eat? Yes, I did. And very well. They'll see me again. What a cozy little eatery in Springfield for breakfast and lunch that is cross between home style and a trendy cafe. We ate there today for the first time and were amazed at the portion size (not a major criteria for us unless super skimpy) and more importantly the quality and taste of the food. To begin the coffee was rich, hitting my nose with the right scents, not "burnt-strong" and not weak. I debated on the flavor combination but went for the Rueben omelet that was a delight-- three eggs thinly wrapped around the right balance of homemade corned beef, mild sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese, drizzled with a homemade 1000 island sauce. I couldn't stop eating it. Though I like the outside of my home fries crispy (these were not) they were big, rough cut pieces of tender potato that were seasoned and pan fried to deliciousness. And the portion of fries was so large, my husband and I had to share them. My husband says his breakfast club was fantastic, including egg, ham, bacon that tasted like just cut off farm pigs from his home in NC, and fresh sweet cherry tomatoes. The meal was worth it (and not expensive). The seating is only about 15 and there are tables outside. This was worth every breakfast calorie (I'm not eating lunch today as a result-- still stuffed!) I wish I was available more often to make this a regular spot for me and my honey. read more

Easily the best restaurant in Springfield. The homemade chips and fries are incredible and the sandwiches are amazing. I had the Big Beef which was roast beef, onions, lettuce, muenster cheese and a horseradish aioli on a brioche roll. The roast beef was perfectly fine the aioli was great. My girlfriend had the Chicken cordon bleu which was fried chicken, ham, Swiss cheese, lettuce, and a dijon aioli. The chicken was great, the ham was delicious and the aioli tied everything together well. The prices are really great as well. For both of our meals which came with fries or chips with coleslaw (which was great) it came to just under $20 so it's definitely worth the price. I honestly can't believe I haven't tried this restaurant earlier considering how close by I live. read more

This is the best breakfast you can get in Springfield hands down no question. The food is incredible, the ingredients are fresh and delicious. Reasonably priced too. My partner and I met the server who works Saturdays and had a nice chat with her. Service was actually pretty prompt considering the house was packed and they only had two people running the show.
