I hadn't been here in a couple years. It had always been pretty good so I gave it another try. Petro's did not disappoint. Since I was by myself, I sat at the "bar". Everything was clean and tidy even though it was on the tail end of breakfast service. There were several other people in the place too. Service was welcoming and personable. After a short wait, the waitress took my order and poured the coffee. The coffee was good and bold. A great diner style pick me up. Originally I was going to order some hash (excellent in the past) but opted for the biscuits and gravy special. Definitely a good move. As I waited for my food I was able to watch the kitchen do their thing. Good, lively crew. Any banter was professional and friendly. Also did a great job on the flat top. The portion size for the meal was great and the meal was delicious. The biscuits had some good flakiness and were not soggy at all. The creamy gravy had plenty of chunky sausage bites and had ample black pepper to tame the richness. The home fries were also a hit. They were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The seasoning was also very good. The potatoes had a great paprika hint that lended just enough spice to cut through the richness of the gravy even more. For eggs, I chose over easy. They were cooked perfectly. Yokes were perfect and they had some crispiness on the edges that provided good textural contrast. The place was clean. I didn't have an opportunity to use the rest room but it had always been clean in the past. Overall, this was a great visit. This used to be a great spot, not sure what happened but they can't do anything right. Starting with the coffee, it used to be a nice light diner roast. The typical for any diner that knows what they are doing. Now it's bitter sludge that they put very little care into. Either they changed their blend or they started using more coffee grounds. Either way it's awful! Next their cooks must have changed because they stopped knowing how to make breakfast. The eggs are normally done okay but the bacon is usually undercooked, home fries are undercooked, and really the biggest issue is the food quality is inconsistent. You can go in there today and get some decent food, and then go in the next day and be served something gross. Get your shit together Petros. read more

Who doesn't love a good greasy spoon diner?!? I went here today to grab a late breakfast and I can say this place is great. It has a old school, comfortable feel to it. The staff is super helpful and attentive. The food came out fairly quickly and was so good. I meant to take a picture but I got so excited and finished before I knew it. Bottom line, if you're looking for some good comfort food in a diner kind of spot in Chicopee, this is the spot for you. read more

I was there this morning with my daughter and co workers, I had no intentions of going to petros so I had stopped and got an iced coffee.. Once seated the young lady took our drink order, the server brought them to us and told me I couldn't have my iced coffee there. So I requested the owner to hear it from her, she told me I could have my coffee at a fee in her establishment . As if she has some high class joint. Long story short I was asked to leave because I refused to get rid of my iced coffee. read more

Been going to Petros on and off for several years and we recently stopped by for breakfast. Really disappointed in the service and food. I watched the cook slap the heck out of my pancake ( I guess to make it cook better?) It was very tough. Should have left after it took 10 minutes for the waitress to come to take our order. No refills offered on coffee until we were done. Also had to ask for bill. read more

I love this place. The staff is so kind whenever I go in. I love that it's filled with regulars. It makes me think of my hometown diner, which has been closed for years. This one warms my heart. I always get an omelet with broccoli and spinach and sometimes cheddar. Rye toast I get dry b/c I love strawberry jam. You can't beat the price either. read more

The food was really good. The first set of toast I was bought was burnt, but the young lad quickly fixed his mistake. Very room, spacious and cozy ambiance. Friendly atmosphere. One of my favorite breakfast spots. Came here while on a walk for breakfast , and ate outside . Thank goodness they had hash today ! I got scrambled eggs , with cheese of course , shredded potatoes , rye toast , and a side of hash. It was delicious . Sometimes I have to ask if they put cheese in my eggs , but not today ! The only thing I disliked is the margarine or whatever it is they use to put on the toast. Definitely not butter . Use ALLLL the butter , it's better ! Solid breakfast and lunch place. Plenty of seating, friendly staff. Make sure you sit on the bar by the grill so you can get a show with your meal. The kitchen staff are like breakfast ninjas. Spatulas in each hand chopping and flipping eggs and pancakes. They go Full Send on the breakfasts, grilling and plating in a whirlwind of spatulas and calling out orders. The menu is simple and easy to navigate with all the usual breakfast staples. We had the 2 egg special with Hasbrown, sausage and toast a side of corned beef hash and a grilled corn muffin. All priced well and the portions where on point. There is no lunch served in Sundays like most breakfast and lunch places. 10/10 would eat here again. read more

This is a great little diner that meets most of my standard criteria. Good (not great) coffee at a reasonable price, all of the basic breakfast fare, and a friendly staff. I am a huge fan of ham and eggs if the ham is either thin or thick off the bone. Here the ham was an amazing chunk fresh cut off of the shank and then grilled. Loved it. I order eggs scrambled soft, and got over well, but they weren't bad. I didn't send them back. Other dishes that I saw go by looked good too. Nice stack of pancakes, a couple of omelets... The customers seemed to look what they got. Another good indicator was that the place had a lot of locals that were gabbing it up. I enjoyed my meal, and would recommend it. read more

I've been a customer going on two years. The food and service was amazing until the cook Justin left. The service is still great , but the food is absolutely uneatable. I though they were just having a bad day or two no it's the cooks are different Justin made everything perfect. I will not be going back. It's saddens me because I really loved that place. Sometimes the best thing a local diner can have is consistency, Petro's is one of those diners. While other local Diners tend to overshadow this one, it has regularly become one of my go to places after a work night. While weekend mornings can get crowded, week days usually have enough room to get a comfortable. The employees are always nice and some even remember how I usually like my order, or perhaps I'm just a memorable person, either way they've done their job well enough to warrant a good review. Anyways! If you want the best bang for the buck, get the Ham in the morning, it's almost too much at times, but it's always good to bring home for a sandwich, fried rice, drunken snack etc. pancakes are huge as well, beware of getting more than two unless you feel like competitive eating, but what's America without gluttony. read more

We were passing through town and wanted a breakfast place with good reviews. Having now eaten here, I dont understand why it has 4 stars. The food took 40 minutes. Our order came out wrong and she put it on the table telling us she knew it wasn't what we ordered "but that's how it came out." And the French toast was not fully cooked. Don't judge the place by the outside! Walked in with a friend on Sunday and we sat ourselves per the very attentive hostess. She immediately came to our table for beverages and it seemed like she was naturally in sync with our needs during the entire experience. Made my own bacon, egg and cheese omelette with mushrooms and tomatoes. Sides were hash browns and rye toast and all delicious. I would definitely skip the 'chain competition' and come back to Petros! read more

Had an awful experience last night. They are open for dinner during Lent. Fresh fish is offered. We each ordered a cup of homemade chowder and the fisherman's platter (17.99). Our waitress came back to tell us that they ran out if scallops but they would compensate with extra of everything else. The wait was long but could have been masked if we we're brought our chowder. Platters finally came. It consisted of 3 overcook small fried shrimp, a handful of overcook clam strips, 1 1/2 scallops, a large piece of fish and a small portion of undercooked fries. It looks like they split the scallop portion to be able to include on the platter. 1 1/2 scallop? One was actually cut in half. We immediately complained to the waitress that he didn't give extra of anything. And asked to lower the price to match the fish and chip dinner. (11.99) She delivered out complaint to the cook/owner. She came back with his response, " our platter had scallops" what?? Needless to say after the poor waitress having to go back and forth because the owner/cook wouldn't come to our table to discuss our complaint, we won't be back. My husband's plate had a big chip out of it, the Cole slaw was nasty and have no idea how the chowder was, we never got it. read more

We were leaving MGM in the AM and were searching for a diner on the way back North. We saw Petros and decided to give them a try. Bare in mind it's a diner, not a fancy restaurant. It's in a strip mall, it's not a dining car. The food was great, served fast and hot. The service was very good. As a Teamster 'til retirement, I've got a lot of diner experience across New England. To the Owner, I have been a frequent customer of Petros since the very opening of the restaurant. On Saturdays and Sundays recently I have only seen one waitress busting her hump to service an almost full restaurant from 6 to about 730 AM. She does her very best to keep all of her costumers happy. You would think as an owner you would schedule help for her to make it easier for her and her customers who wait. Think of this, would you want the day to start off for you running around with you head cut off. It just makes the day very tiring. Also with the recent departure of one of your cooks you food quality and taste have diminished, your home fries have no taste and food comes out a little burnt. Please take note and come in on Saturdays and Sunday mornings and watch the one waitress work very hard for your customers and get her some help. read more

When you go to a place for chocolate chip pancakes; you want chocolate in them, you want pancakes (not the paper thin pancakes with three chocolate chips you get at IHOP or Denys). Loved this place. I am a tourist and live in England. This allowed me to get the experience of a typical neighbourhood everyday US diner. Down-to-earth staff, kind, efficient and hard working. VERY impressed --- I usually drive to Noho for breakfast, but tried out Petros based on a friend's recommendation. No wait at all, got a booth right away. Super friendly service, clean, and excellent food with ridiculously generous serving sizes. I literally got a HUGE slab of juicy ham with my eggs. Pancakes (chocolate chip) were divine and the home fries were perfect. My friend and I were absolutely stuffed and very very happy. Price was extremely reasonable. My new favorite breakfast place. Great breakfast priced great! This is a local hotspot. French toast is awesome. Some of the younger folk like the breakfast flatbread pizza. No breakfast pizza or lunch on Sundays. Church crowd keeps them very busy. Waitresses are friendly along with cook staff. Not quiet due to friendly conversation by all. My wife and I come here regularly on Saturday mornings. The staff is always very friendly, service is fast, and food is great quality.
