With a diner, Wendy's, Applebee's and an Italian restaurant not far from work plus an early Lunch break, I needed a detour. Took backroads from work and in 11 minutes, I was in Tarrytown- with way more to choose from. Eatarry is the kind of place where you can sit and enjoy. I overheard though- weekends are chaotic. Place has lots of seating and gives local Artists a leg up to showcase their pieces here. Plenty of Sandwich options, savory Bowls, Soups and Breakfast items- even offering 'Afternoon Tea'- just the way my favorite Tea spot around the corner used to do before they closed about a year ago. Interesting enough, Silver Tips passed on their excess inventory over to Eatarry (don't ask me how). My non-caffeinated Chai with Cream- was exactly prepared as I remembered. My Mushroom-Artichoke Quiche was full of flavor: crust held nicely, had a rich Buttery- almost flaky feel and the Veggies, Cheese and Cream filling- was fantastic! Except- the Greens that came with my dish, were wilted with dark patches on them. Didn't complain right then and there about them- just pushed them off to the side. Though kitchen staff should keep a fine eye on what they put out. Service was nice by the way. And maybe it was an off day with the wilted salad. This place really frustrates me, pretty much top to bottom. The service is astoundingly bad (I have never successfully gotten a coffee refill here and I've tried it a couple of times), it's fairly expensive for what it is, despite the aforementioned terrible service they have a 20% 'service fee' automatically added, which they advertise pretty sneakily and then ask for an additional tip on top, and I have also never had a good meal here. I think the worst was the French Toast, which was a tiny portion (it was a single piece of French toast for an entree), and it was actually just stale bread. As in, my knife could not cut through the crust so for my breakfast I got the middle of a single piece of bread and a few pieces of fruit. I don't even know if they soaked it in egg or if it was literally just extremely stale toast. I think it was 16 dollars, plus the added service fee. I've tried this place a few times because there aren't a ton of breakfast options in the area, and I have finally just decided to never go back. read more

First off, my mate who loves lattes and is bit of a latte connoisseur commented that the latte just "tastes like coffee with milk", and not an espresso with milk. The eggs benedict was delicious, and the french toast and pancakes were tasty as well. The blueberry pancakes had a strong tarty taste, likely from the embedded blueberry. The blueberry pancakes and the french toast came with sides of blueberries and rapsberries and strawberries. The blueberry pancakes with additional blueberries on the side was a bit too much blueberry in one dish. Now - problem time. The raspberries were molded. From the get go, the fruit did not look fresh, but I was willing to overlook that. Then I noticed mold on the raspberries, and I completely lost my appetite. By this point, I had definitely already eaten some without noticing. It wasn't just one, there were quite a few with mold, which gave rise to the question - what else had gone bad in these dishes that I simply overlooked because I was hungry. She enjoyed the pancakes and I liked the panini, although I felt like something was missing, just a little zing to liven it up. Eatarry has a large selection of teas, a rarity today in a world filled with exotic coffee drinks. They also serve high tea so maybe a return visit is in order. This is a very cute, simple cafe in the quaint Main Street of Tarrytown. It was a bit of a worried start, as the staff had a little bit of trouble getting us seated. I went with the goat cheese and herb quiche. It came with simple greens. The quiche was good, flavorful, and not overly filling. Looking to try a new brunch place in Westchester and came across Eatarry. Upon arrival, we weren't greeted and had several servers pass us before being seated at the table table. The waiter was rude and abrupt- we ordered the French toast, pancakes and egg Benedict. The dishes were mediocre, nothing different than what you'd find at a dinner. As we reviewed the check, we noticed that the was a "service fee" of 20%- there was no sign or mention of this fee. As we received the credit card we were tacked on another 3.5% fee. If you're going to charge such a high service fee, then make sure you provide service that warrants a 20% fee. Nickel and dimming is not the way to go! I entered with my son at lunchtime and was given a table in the rear, by the kitchen, although many seats were available at the front of the restaurant. We got a high tea for two. The sandwiches were ok, the scones good, but the dessert was awful! The chocolate chip muffin tasted like it had been defrosted and my sugar deprived child wouldn't even eat it. Stopped by this place on our way to Sleepy Hallow to enjoy some Halloween fun. The place was decked out in Halloween decor and local artwork which gave it a real cozy, fall vibe. There were lots of great brunch items on the menu, so we opted for a sweet and savory combo of S'mores pancakes and the Parmesan polenta with poached eggs. The latter was definitely my favorite of the two only cause I couldn't quite appreciate the marshmallow flavors of the smores. I sat down and looked at the menu. We were given water right away. I was surprised that in a restaurant as such that they would have a Bacon, egg and cheese on the menu so I ordered it. I also ordered the pancakes with chocolate chips. My guest ordered a mixed omelette with a salad. The Bacon, egg and cheese may have been the best that I have ever had. I have had a lot of Bacon, egg and cheeses. The bread was toasted just right.The eggs were soft and runny with the perfect amount of salt which helped to season the homemade thin waffle chips that came with the sandwich.I ordered the sandwich turkey bacon. The thing was perfect. The pancakes were delicious as well they were dense to the cut but became fluffy on the fork. They did not need any syrup. They were served with strawberries, blueberries, bananas, raspberries and whipped cream. They have a wide variety of teas that I did not try on this visit but would be open to trying on my next visit. I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant. We stopped here for brunch on a Saturday. At first, it seemed very appealing: good coffee and baked goods that were delicious, such as the cider donuts. Then we ordered our food: Poached eggs over Polenta (the pollen ra was dry), and a chorizo omelette, with a side of bacon (it was good). Before we started eating, we discovered the polenta had come with an uncleaned spoon (food remnants still on it). It took a while to get the spoon replaced, but we still found it irresponsible. While the prices were decent, there were hidden charges: they added a 20% tip for a table of 2, without informing us and a 3.5% surcharge for using a credit card (I thought the general rule is the customer decides the tip, is that wrong??). The egg was very undercooked and the white was runny. I am visiting for business and a colleague suggested we grab a bit in the area, we walked in and there was a few patrons so we figured it would be safe. The food is sub par at best, there were flies everywhere that we had to swat off of our food. I am a hungry guy in general and I couldn't finish my meal. Another coworker told us there are a lot of better places in this area. It is too bad. They also charged us a mandatory service fee, which we didn't realize and had tipped as is customary to do in the states. Only when I went to file my expense reports did my assistant make a comment about how the meal must have been so great that I tipped twice. This is not a Michelin star and with these sub standards should either be shut down, get new ownership or have a visit from the health department for their quality and fly issue.
