We went to Eating House for brunch with a party of nine. The brunch menu is somewhat limited, but most items were well executed (except the chicken in the sandwich, which was charred to the extreme). If you're going to serve charred meat, state so on the menu. I had high hopes for Eating House after reading raving reviews and seeing it on Resy's Top 10 for the year. We went for brunch for my 26th birthday this past weekend and sat outdoors to enjoy the relatively cool weather. The hostess was very kind and the server was nice too. The menu all sounded amazing. For starters, we had the loaded tater tots, burrata, and the bread rolls. I also had an aperol spritz. The burrata was my favorite. The bread rolls were good, not amazing. The tater tots were good but also nothing crazy. None of the entrees really called to me so I went with the eggs on eggs which was a mistake. Totally not my jam. It was a thick piece of bread with soft scrambled eggs topped with caviar, a LOT of caviar. Too much. Wasn't a huge fan. For dessert, we had the French toast which was good but not great. Overall, a good brunch. Not my favorite and definitely wouldn't say it's the best around but good nonetheless. read more

As we were eating, she and her coworker-- a tall woman with glasses--spent a lot of time gossiping, including talking about customers, which made the atmosphere feel uncomfortable. Went for brunch and ordered a bunch of things to try (pineapple and cheese, eggs Benedict carbonara, breakfast sandwich, chicken and waffles, captain crunch pancakes, and French toast). Almost everything was too heavy, too salty, too sweet, and overcooked. No balance of flavors. Feels like an attempt at new American gone amiss. I can see the effort of using unexpected ingredients into traditional brunch items but it did not deliver. I am by no means a traditionalist when it comes to food and flavors, I enjoy trying new things but this was not it for me. The staff was 5 star service, really attentive and nice. I did notice the location it's in is saturated with other restaurants, so they seem to have serious competition as well. read more

We were treated by our children to a five course dinner at the Eating House for our 44th wedding anniversary. Our reservations were for 7 PM on a Thursday night. The place was fairly empty but quickly filled up by around 8 PM . The setting is very modern, spacious, and elegant and there is plenty of space between the tables. We were immediately attended and throughout our dinner Patrick was always available. We had a Cabernet Sauvignon and a red blend, both of which were very good. We had three appetizers. The first one was dinner rolls with brown butter. They were delicious. Next we were served tuna tartare. This was served with a large cracker. The combination was tasty and played well together. Finally, we were served watermelon chunks and Burrata. These were outstanding. They both tasted as if they had just been brought in from the farm. Next we had a filet mignon which was beautifully done and presented. It was perfectly cooked to medium and was accompanied by mashed potatoes. These were creamy and fluffy and were definitely a highlight.. Finally, we had the dirt cup for dessert. This was truly extraordinary and it should absolutely not be missed. It's a mix of hazelnut, chocolate and other sweets which was delicious. Chef Giorgio joined us for a few moments. He is extremely proud of his work, as well he should be. The Eating House was an amazing experience of culinary creativity combined with expert preparation and service in a simple but elegant modern environment. Chef Giorgio Rapicavoli does it again. The new Eating House is the perfect demonstration of chef's evolution and maturity since he opened the first Eating House to roaring success more than ten years ago. The menu is full of his new interpretation of classic EH dishes. The new carbonara made with perfectly cooked cavateli in a truffled carbonara sauce topped with charcoaled bread crumbs is the best example of how he has taken what once was a playfully delicious dish at the old EH and turned in into a complex orchestration of texture, tastes and show. The Brussels sprouts ceasar salad is probably the only way I'll eat Brussels sprouts, simply delicious crunchiness through and through. The menu is small but still full of amazing choices to keep coming back for. We also enjoyed the bresaola carpaccio, and the crispy potatoes w Gouda and caramelized-onions were stellar -- firm on the outside, mashed potato texture on the inside -- leaning into a delicious onion soup experience. The EH Mess dessert was off the charts and the Dirt Cup is back, matured into a heavenly hazelnut version that will make you want to lick the plate. The greatest demonstration of how this EH is so much better is the amazing wine list that chef has curated with top notch selections among a range of appellations and varietals. My bf and I went for Valentine's Day and they had a deal where you pay $89 per person and you get a 5 course meal. I first ask our waiter since we each are paying $89 each for a 5 course meal do we each get a plate of food and he says yes. The first plate comes it was crunchy rice tartare and it was only 4 pieces and they were so small I was so disappointed I asked the waiter I though we each get a plate he says no you share you get two pieces and your bf gets two. We didn't eat the whole day and I ask the waiter if the portions that small will we get full and he says yes. The next plate is a small bowl of cheese dip with 4 crackers on the side I tell my bf this isn't going to fill us. The next plate was 6 pieces of ravioli and a side of small short rib. We left out of there so hungry still and the bill came out to $250! We were so upset waste of money we could've went to any other restaurant ordered 6 big plates and left out of there full and probably paid less then We did here. This was a scam and our waiter tricked us and kept saying we were going to be full but he just wanted us to stay and spend the money. I wish to have never paid that amount because we barely ate! I recommend you really look into these food portions for the price you're paying I was very disappointed and wish a refund or something could be given back! read more

I don't understand the hype. Went for drinks and appetizers and I must say I was let down. I visited the previous location on Ponce and 8th street (a while ago) and loved it. Not that I expected this place to be the same but I did expect it to be good. The entire vibe, cocktail and appetizer menu were pretentious. The service at the bar was good ( it was not busy). We did not enjoy the drinks on their cocktail menu. The bartender Made several comments on the drinks being alcohol forward and complex, leading us to feel the problem was us and not the drinks. But no....it was the drinks. We ordered straight classics and those were good. The bartender did mix those well. Drink prices were fair. Appetizers were good but I feel overpriced. read more

I loved going to the original Eating House to eat the crispy cheese which is no longer on the menu and to eat the Dirt Cup. I'm so disappointed the Dirt Cup isn't the same. I can't even try it because I have a nut allergy. Discriminating against individuals with nut allergies. Since I walked in I asked if the Dirt Cup was still on the menu and I was so happy to hear it was until I found it was a completely different dessert. The potato dessert we ordered was NOT good. This place truly did not skip a beat. It's like they never closed at all. Their new location is in a nice convenient place. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The manager was constantly checking on us and engaging in conversation and filling our waters. We started with some mimosas. Everything was brought to us very quickly. We tried a few dishes that our server recommended and they were so delicious. We had the tots and another potato dish which was delicious. I had the captain crunch pancakes and my guests ordered the carbonara eggs Benedict. Everyone was so pleased with their dishes. I doubt there is any item on the menu that would disappoint. So I went to Eating House today for brunch and ordered the Loaded Tater Tots and Nashville Rock Shrimp to start. All was going well except for the wobbly table that we had to ask multiple times to fix. But I can overlook that. The next thing that came out was the Chicken and Waffles and then they brought out the Capt Crunch Pancakes which I said I wanted it as dessert. After we finished the Chicken and Waffles they brought out the pancakes again and I stated again that it was for dessert. Then the server came and tried to confirm that we ordered the French Dip Burger. She obviously forgot to put it in but gave us some excuse about tickets being mixed up. She then disappeared and we literally waited for 25 minutes till the Burger came out. Not once did anybody check on us or let us know what was going on. The burger was average at best and ridiculously overpriced at $27. The server never showed her face again and we were taken care of by two other gentlemen. The Capt Crunch pancakes came out again and were delicious. The service or lack thereof left something to be desired. Very disappointed with our experience since that was our late Valentines Day brunch. read more

I won't get into details, but I made a mistake with my reservation. They saw the issue, and helped me out tremendously on such an important day like Mothers Day. So right out the gate, it was off to a wonderful start. While waiting for the table, we were offered seats at the bar. Every single person behind the bar was fantastic. Exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive. I feel bad I don't recall her name at the moment, but the lady bartender deserves a special shout out. The excellent service continued with our waiter. As to the food, I got the chicken and waffles and the wife got the carbonara eggs Benedict. We both loved our food. Oh, and y'all, I'm sure you'll see more eloquent food based commentary from others, but I'd be crazy not to mention that bacon... just damn. We used to go more frequently at the old location, but this was our first time at the new spot, and it's much more spacious with a nice vibe. Oh, last thing, I believe it's the asst GM, guy named Joseph... incredible service/ work ethic too. Incredibly busy, but saw him working all over the place.
