Hunan chicken in my to-go box.
Mary W.

Ate in instead of just ordering takeout. The service was nice, the steamed wontons were excellent, handmade, and the sauce for them is devine. The chef even cut a butterfly out of a carrot for us. I also had the hunan chicken which wasn't overly spicy. I think anyone who can handle a little spice can handle this dish.

I've been hearing lots of good reviews of Black Pearl. They lived up to the hype. My King Pao Veggies were delicious. The meal comes with 2 spring rolls and rice. The egg drop soup was also really. It was really worn the wait. The cashier was very friendly! The wait for the good wasn't very long. The music was very relaxing so I didn't mind waiting at all. Pay attention to the hours. I've come by twice during the hours that they are closed between lunch and dinner.

All the food is so amazing!!! We live in Louisiana and I am willing to drive 5 hours just for their orange chicken. The service was also really good. Everyone was so nice. The ambiance of the restaurant was also super calm but almost but me to sleep. Overall this place is so amazing, especially if you want real Asian cuisine.

As good as Asian Takeout gets! They were not open for dine-in when we walked in, so we ordered out takeout and waited a minute. They added in an extra order of spring rolls for our confusion! Great service! Will return.

Hands down the best Chinese food I've had in a while! The wonton soup was bomb! It was so good. I also had the shrimp with garlic sauce and veggies! Sorry I don't have a pic, I was starving and didn't think about it till after it was devoured lol. But it did come with a tasty side of fried rice, which I do have. Anyway, definitely give this spot a try!

Thai Red Curry Shrimp & Steamed White Rice

I stopped by here during a food tour and fell in love with the Thai Red Curry Chicken. After a week, I was finally able to make it back. This time, I tried the Thai Red Curry Shrimp. It was full of shrimp and the red curry was just as delicious as I remembered it. Spicy with a little sweet. I got there around 1:30 and had just beat the lunch crowd. The lunch comes with 2 sides + entree + steamed/fried rice. I chose ginger salad, hot and sour soup, steamed rice. Everything was delicious. Large portion of curry, I was able to get 2 FULL servings out of it. Service was excellent. I will definitely return.

Freshly made food that leaves your mouth watering. We had the drunken noodles and come back for them again and again.

Average at best. Won Ton soup had no flavor as well as the dumpling. Great green beans.

Absolutely devine, enjoyed all of our food except for the spicy cabbage. They were out of bokchoy. We will be regular eaters.

Super fast. Super fresh. They make their own mustard- which I love. Hot and sour soup was awesome!

My moo goo gai pan had barely any chicken in it. There were huge chunks of vegetables and it was way too starchy. It was like they were trying to compensate for the lack of protein in it. I haven't ordered from them this year, but I did tonight. Listen the economy is rough for everyone but I paid $15 for this chicken and they used maybe 1/8 of a chicken breast in it. Not cool. Hate to leave the negative review, but I need to warn people that they're using filler food to complete the orders and charging more. What's not cool anywhere these days is paying more and getting way less than just a few years ago. All of us are working hard to earn money and it just feels so disappointing to not get what you pay for, especially when you're paying more than you used to. I don't know who to blame for this. If I wanted a carton of vegetables I would have eaten a frozen bag for $2.50 tonight.

The energy inside was lively, full of students and guests chatting about their days, studying, and bouncing around really. It felt like the heart of UAB campus. When it came to my food I did have to come back after small time break because the lo mein (my go-to). After I came back to place my order, I got half lo mein and fried rice with teriyaki chicken as my protein. The lo mein was worth the wait! It was my first time trying the teriyaki chicken and I definitely will be ordering again! The atmosphere made the meal even better, energetic, social, and full of those random, conversations you only hear at the Hill! I would end this by saying Mein Bowl is a convenient and dependable spot when you're on campus and need something fast.

I noticed the line at Mein Bowl was empty and decided to give it a try and am so glad I did! I got orange chicken, white rice, and some crab rangoons. Everything tasted fresh and the portion size was great I had leftovers that I ate for dinner. The service was so quick compared to the experiences I've had with other places on campus. The staff was so kind and welcoming. I had a few questions and needed some recommendations and the chef was so informative and nice. I definitely will be stopping by Mein Bowl again hoping to try their sushi next time, I cannot believe I never thought to go there in the first place!
