Now THIS is how fried chicken is supposed to be…read more I stopped by Champy's while visiting Chattanooga, and it was the highlight of my afternoon. The fried chicken came out hot, crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. You could literally see the juices coming out of the chicken, and every bite was delicious. The customer service was excellent as well. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout the meal. I also enjoyed the atmosphere. The walls were covered in dollar bills and license plates, which gave the restaurant a lot of character and made it feel like a place with stories to tell. I found myself wondering about the history behind it all.

We got to choose our table and had friendly service the whole time. Note that although the service is pretty good, the food coming out was a little slow. We got the 3 chicken tender basket, catfish basket, the smoked buffalo wings, and banana pudding. The buffalo wings were the highlight. Great smokiness coming through the wings. Just a little bit of heat from the buffalo sauce. Highly recommend. Everything else was pretty good. The chicken was tender, and good crisp to the outside, and good seasoning. The catfish was pretty good too although they were pretty thin so didn't get quite as much of the crunch to tenderness contrast that I like in a catfish. Also, their tartar sauce is too sweet. I prefer more tang on the sauce. I think the sauces run sweet as I thought the champy sauce was a little too sweet over mustard-y. Good fries with great texture and seasoning. I also got the green bean sides which were a little soft but great, depth of flavor as it was clearly cooked with pork. The potato salad was good if not memorable. The kids loved the banana pudding. A little too much of the cream and not enough pudding but otherwise worth getting. All in all a strong chicken spot to visit while in Chattanooga.

Every one of the sides looks so good and fresh that I wanted to get each one of them just to try it! The fish was cooked perfectly and was nice and tender. The added little muffin I didn't expect was a nice touch and delicious. The collard greens were SO GOOD. I'd get them again. So flavorful and cooked well. The beets were fresh and the goat cheese carried so much flavor. For the desserts, we got the carrot cake with pecans and chocolate cheesecake. Both were soooo good. I would get both of them again, especially the carrot cake which was so warm and moist. And the candied pecans were such a nice complement to the cake - not too sweet at all. The ambience is super nice and fresh, and our server was so sweet and engaging. The hostess as well. Everybody there was so nice and welcoming. They validate parking if you park in the garage nearby!

The first time we had a great server. She explained everything. There was a saxophonist playing. It was nice. Also tried the house wine and got a tour of the area's north yet opened. Parking is always a challenge because the lot next to them only allows them 3-4 spots. The last two times, the entire space was open including outside. There was security which I have no complaints about that. Servers have been consistently nice. However the last time, the kitchen was backed up so much that you had to wait 45 minutes before you could order food. That told me that they weren't prepared for heavy traffic. The second time there was a singer there , Chelsea, Who? She was really good. The last time there was no music or talent there. I had each time the chicken and waffles with grits. Not much else I can eat since I don't eat beef or pork and sadly allergic to fish. I can do sides if need be. The food is really good. Love the waffles as they don't need syrup or anything. The chicken is light and full of flavor as well. I like the spot. Hope there are more menu items for the non red meat eaters. The food is yummy. Servers are great. Will be back with more people. .

After reading all the reviews we headed south and are pleased to share that everything and everyone we encountered were absolutely top notch...food was prepared perfectly from the breads, calamari, trout and swordfish; and the proportions more than enough to require a stroll along the river after the Chocolate chocolate cake. Our server was amazing and you can't beat the riverfront location and views. They don't take reservations and those negative reviews usually involved large parties and special needs that take time to accommodate. Check Scottie's out, and enjoy! I would have given 5 Stars except for the pay to park phenomenon and QR codes that can be just annoying and have appeared in every major city. Nothing is free anymore including parking. We will be back.

The stuffed mushrooms did not taste fresh and also lacked flavor. The calamari lacked flavor as well and was a big disappointment. The server was nice and set our expectations, advising that some of the items we ordered were more of an acquired taste, but we were still disappointed. There was a server change at one point, and the new server was not careful when delivering the food and spilled the gumbo upon arrival. Considering the price and value, this place is definitely a one and done.
