We wanted a place to eat around the area and this place had good reviews so we decided to check it out, especially since it says they offer outdoor dining. There were multiple things wrong: 1. There was no outdoor dining. It wasn't even an option; their Yelp page is outdated. 2. The Tonkatsu ramen had no toppings in it, such as egg or seaweed. It only had chashu and some pickled veggies. The broth wasn't aromatic nor flavorful; it tasted a bit watered down. 4. The Tan-Tan ramen was extremely salty where I almost couldn't finish it. It was also spicier than expected even though the menu did not mention that it would be spicy. Friend mentioned their Original Ebae's Ramen was also extremely spicy and couldn't finish her bowl. 5. They tacked on the 18% gratuity for 6+ people for our group of 5, which we didn't notice because we're not supposed to be charged this in the first place, and ended giving an additional tip. This is my go to shop when looking to get my Asian food cravings! They have all sorts of menu items ranging from Japanese to Korean fusion. Appetizers are abundant and plentiful and their ramen choices are all very creative. The interior is long and narrow, but they do a good job with the space they have. The murals are very cute and the decor is also really fun. The ebae ramen has a unique flavor and is more like a Thai or Singaporean curry. It reminded me of Laksa and was a bit too spicy for me. The tan tan ramen was very similar to dan dan noodle and also had a nice kick to it. I asked for less spicy oil and they happily obliged! The Tonkotsu tastes like traditional Japanese pork broth ramen. They didn't change the flavors or added their own twist, so if you're looking for regular ramen, it's definitely the way to go! And, because I'm a Thai curry fan, I thought it was great! However, to be honest, the pairing with the noodles felt weird; I would've liked it better paired with rice, especially I feel like rice would've been better with the thickness of the broth. Stopped by on a recent visit to nearby USC and loved our lunch here - I went with tofu pad thai which was great, but I definitely had entrée envy as my son and husband went with the salmon and spicy tuna poke bowls respectively. We also got a giant "USC roll" which was a hit as well. Considering there was one guy running the whole place (seating, waiting tables, and for all I know, maybe he was doing the cooking too?!) it was a very smooth experience. The menu has a little bit of everything so it shouldn't be hard to find something to your liking from small plate appetizers to ramen to sushi to Thai options. The only time I really go to ebaes is with my housemates on the 1st day of every month. Why? Because ramen becomes 7 which makes it so worth it!! When was the last time when eating out in LA where you had a decent sized meal for less than 10? Honestly I really enjoyed the vegetarian ramen because as health conscious person, I feel very clean after eating the ramen and drinking the soup. It's not oily at all and they give you a good handful of veggies to eat. Obviously adding other toppings like pickled red ginger is extra (I think by .50 ) which can increase the cost by a bit. The inside is decorated super cool, and there's one large long table with high-chairs that kind of serves as a bar. I liked the vibes! We have ordered takeout and delivery from here for YEARS. We've always really enjoyed the food although anything with any spice is extremely spicy. However, we've reached our limit and will officially never order delivery from them again. Last night we order delivery through Uber Eats and for the 4th time they did not give the driver the second bag and, in this situation, most of the actual ramen. This left us scrambling to feed our kids. When I called and asked the manager wouldn't cancel the order and instead said I should come pick the rest of it up. Pick the rest of it up when I already paid high fees and tipped a delivery driver. I highly recommend the Tonkatsu Ramen or any spicier variation of it. The Tan-Tan Ramen is also good (it has no soup). I didn't like the Original Ebaes Ramen (it is very very sweet, like candy). I suggest visiting on the first of any month if you're unsure of this place since they have a $5 bowl of ramen deal on the first of a month. By going on the first, I could buy different bowls of ramen and try out the different flavors. I don't think I would seek this place out unless they're having a deal on a day, but it's near where I live currently, so it was very convenient for me.
