First time going to this restaurant with a group of friends. The best Caesar salad I have ever had. Went with the swordfish. YUM!! Broccoli was loaded with garlic which I didn't know would happen so I couldn't eat it. Tasted my husband's veal dish. That too was one of the best. So tender. Only reason this didn't get a four star was the noise level was unbelievably high and two of the tables we sat at was so wobbly that anytime you touched it, water went everywhere. read more

Been eating at ECCO for years and have tried many dishes on the menu. Can be inconsistent but usually good. Not up to North End standards which is always my benchmark. Lemon chicken was excellent. Went there right at opening and although too early for most, I noticed the food was very hot and fresh. Staff was friendly. Not very intimate but decor is nice. Wow! We just came back from a wonderful Mother's Day dinner at Ecco. We haven't been here in a super long time and we live within a mile of this place. It was soooo good. All four people in our party loved their meals. Spaghetti and meatballs, chicken arrabiata, shrimp scampi and eggplant parmesan. All so good. The chicken melted my mouth and the arrabiata sauce had the perfect amount of spice. The eggplant parm was some of the best I've ever had. The meatballs were great and the shrimp was cooked perfectly too. The service was also fantastic. We had two waitresses for our table and both were excellent without hovering. We were even brought a free canoli dessert for the table! We will definitely be frequenting Ecco in the future. read more

Ecco is, by far, the finest Italian restauant we have been to on the South Shore. The Seafood Fra Diavlo is amazing. My wife loves the chicken parmesan. We're both huge fans of the ceasar salad. We recently tried the lunch menu and were very impressed. The eggplant parmesan was fantastic. All the entrees are around $6.00 at lunch. This is an amazing bargain for a real meal. The tables are comfortable and the atmosphere is warm. The hostess is welcoming and the waitstaff has always been great! Ecco is a must try! read more

I've been going to this restaurant for many years and enjoy the friendly atmosphere . Over the past year though the quality of the food has deteriorated. What was once a place to get excellent food has now become so so. The previously excellent rib-eye that was top-notch has been replaced with a sub-standard porterhouse. The prices are slightly too high for the lower quality food that is being served. One major gripe is the feeling that you are being nickeled and dimed by being charged an extra twenty five cents for two minuscule anchovies on an eight dollar ceaser salad. I ask you, when you are paying well over $40 per head for a salad, steak and glass of wine do you really want to be charged an extra quarter just because you want anchovies on your ceaser salad.? And just try getting more than two anchovies - they make you feel like you are weird just for asking - not a good way to make your customers feel welcome. I now go there much less frequently. read more

Read the review for 10/26/12 and thought Thank God, i am not the only one. Been there serveral times and went there early on a Saturday night... Had a waitress, you might have to repeat yourself 2x that your still waiting for something and ask for things but got it sooner or later ... But the meal, now that was a different story.... Scampi soaking in watered down butter was what i got. And when I asked was that the "Norm" I was told yes. Then, when I got the manager, I got the same thing, "Angel Hair Pasta" does not stick to the sauce... NOTHING STICKS TO WATERY SOUP"... then she uses the "Customer is always right" after knowing I was still not happy... I told her to take it back.. she puts in a "To-Go" box and doesn't drain and I gave it back to our waitress and she said "what about a free dessert" ... that does not take care of a $24.99 meal that was not removed from the bill..... So, I guess and am happy to see... I was not the only one.. but VERY disappointed in knowing another one bites the dust.... read more

I never review restaurants online, but I am making a special trip to Yelp to yelp about this place. I went there one-two times a week for a few months for take out while visiting the area from CT. Then I abruptly stopped last week after watching the chefs working in the kitchen. You can see them clearly from the waiting area in the take-out section. All I can say is the owner needs to put cameras in there to see what the chefs are doing. I will never go back after what I saw. What I saw is too gross to discuss here...sorry. The fact I am creating a Yelp account to write a review should tell you something. My boyfriend and I went out for a nice dinner this Friday night at the bar. Great service, great food. Once we got home we realized he had left his phone at the bar. I did Find My iPhone on my own phone and seemed to find the phone had been left at the bar. I politely called the restaurant to ask if they had found any phones. It took the girl all of 30 seconds to say "No, no phone found". Well I said, "Oh, okay the location services says it is so I am going to head your way". I had to drive all the way back there to walk in for 10 seconds and find the phone sitting RIGHT ON THE BAR. Are you kidding me? Called the manager later and all she had to say was "Oh you know these young kids these days they don't listen!" Then why are they working at your establishment? All around awful way to handle situation and definitely turned away a customer, my boyfriend and I eat out 4+ times a week averaging a 300$+ bill and we will definitely not be back after that one. Hope the owner will take this review into consideration and consider hiring new hostesses and managers! read more

My wife and I went in and it was very busy. We were immediately seated in a great booth in the corner. We got a round of drinks, I had Allegash Beer and my wife had a flirtinni which she liked. Clams casino were good and seemed to be made to order. I had Seafood Fra Diavolo which was really good, a good array of seafood including clams, mussels, scallops, shrimp and calamari. The sauce was great with just enough spice to keep it interesting but still taste the nuances of the sauce. My wife got the Saltumbocca which she loved. We will be back for sure. read more

I went here on Saturday night with my wife and our good friends, we just before 7pm there was no wait, which was a pleasant surprise. We were seated a table right away, always nice on a Saturday night. The restaurant is beautiful inside, very tastefully decorated. Our waiter Derrick was very friendly and he made us feel right at home. His service was great the whole night! We bought a round of drinks, they were all great and we ordered some soup (Italian wedding), it was great and the other appetizers were very good as well. I had the veal parmigiana, it was spectacular! My wife had the chicken broccoli and ziti which was also very good and our friends dinners were great as well, especially the prime rib! We topped off our night with the chocolate explosion, oh my! The entire experience was wonderful, the service, the drinks and all of the food! We will definitely be coming back! The little things count too!" I'll start by saying that the food is quite good. Some items are priced right, and some are not. Two small pizza dough rolls hiding at the bottom of a deep bread basket is not a great presentation. Caesar salad is overpriced and two little anchovies just are not enough. Other portion sizes were acceptable. Apparently it is more important for the chefs to take the two parking spaces near the front door that could otherwise be marked for handicap, or left open for customers. When I spoke with the owner, she was not concerned that the chefs parked right in front of the door. The chefs must be more important than the clientele. That left a taste that spoiled the experience, and I probably will not return. read more

For a quick Italian-bite in Weymouth, Ecco beats the pants off Peppercornz (both on rte 18)! Stopped in for a pre-appointment dinner with the husband so we were on a tight time limit. Wasn't overly impressed with our waitress at first (didn't seem super warm/friendly; appeared to be disappointed we weren't jacking our bill up with cocktails). Bt she actually ended up being great - brought the check over immediately when we requested it earlier than usual, with to-go boxes we hadn't requested (but would need) so we didn't have to try to flag her down later. I had the eggplant with spinach fettuccini - a little on the salty side but still delicious/enjoyable, good size portion. Pasta was cooked well. My husband had the clams with red sauce - no complaints on his end; I snagged some of his sauce with a bite of bread and thought it was really good. Place is not huge - easy to see it being banged out on the weekends. But for 5:30 on a Tuesday there was not wait. Neither of our meals were part of it, but they do do "pasta night" on Tuesdays (and maybe another weeknight?) where select pasta dishes are only $12 and come with salad. I was leery after reading the previous reviews. However my friend Liz and I decided to head there for some wine and a small meal. Michelle the Bartendar was very friendly and a pleasure to chat with. We ordered a bottle of wine and both got some apps. We both got side Ceaser salads that were yummy. Liz got the Bruschetta and loved it, and I got the crab cakes. They were moist and hda a little kick to them. Everything was wonderful. We also had the chance ot chat with Maryann and found the place to be cozy and very friendly. The food was delicious. ordered the chicken parmesan on pasta night with caesar salad. Sadly the salad was so over dressed and drowning in dressing although nicely flavored it was hard to enjoy. Bread fantastic. chicken parm comes out in a bowl on top of the pasta? How do you cut this? The pasta was not drained so all I had was a bowl of red water. My waitress who was very good was busy and hadnt come by. The girl who gave me my food just dropped it down and didnt even ask if I wanted more bread for my meal. I fianally got a waitress after 5 minutes of sitting there who should have just taken the bowl back to the kitchen to fix but said she would tell someone but no one came out. I finally flagged my waitress who took it away to be fixed. When it came back out once again the same girl who origanlly dropped it off on my table did the same thing drop and run. Yes , now I had sauce but the chicken had no crunch it was a soggy patty as if it had been made earlier in the day and microwaved for serving(not saying they did this but it was what it tasted like). My waitress who was just fine wanted to fix or make me anything else but unfortantely I had lost my desire to eat at that point. Just had a private function for a 50th birthday party here for about 40 people and it could not have been better! My guests raved about the food and in particular loved the chicken rockerfeller. There was more food than we could eat on the buffet. Marianne was easy to work with and they were just very accomodating. We had a 1920's gangster murder mystery event for the party and the interior of the restaurant was a perfect fit. Would highly recommend this restaurant for either dinner or a private function. The restaurant is closed for lunch on Saturdays and Sundays so we had the place to ourselves for the function. read more

Terrible service and the food was not what I asked for. 1st time there I asked for a Greek salad with chicken to go. I got home to find no chicken. 2nd time I asked for a Greek salad with chicken to come home and find raw chicken with no feta cheese. 3rd time? There will be no 3rd time as when I called and spoke with the manager she wouldn't let me get a word in edge wise to explain myself nor did she offer me anything. Now I want to say I work in customer service and can't stand rude customers. I am not a rude customer myself but I even called and said I am not looking for a hand out. Yet she did not even offer one...I would have if I were her. Terrible place and will never go back. I've been Going here for years everytime the food is fantastic and the espresso martini is perfect. The hostess and wait staff are always friendly!!! I must say, I left Ecco doubly disappointed - and I ordered takeout. The pizza turned out to be ok, and I appreciate the gluten-free option (hence the "extra" star) but there were a couple factors contributing to the less-than-average review: 1) they would not honor a restaurant.com gift certificate for takeout (even though the neither the website nor the certificate specify a dine-in only requirement) and 2) a "large" pizza was decidely not large. The gift certificate thing was particularly frustrating because it was the sole reason we ordered from Ecco in the first place. I have a couple certificates for Ecco, but unfortunately, I think I will look to exchange them. read more

4 stars for the great special they run on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday! They give a salad, bread and entree (from a list of about a dozen) for $12.99. I think the prices are a little high otherwise but with this special, you can really eat well for a decent rate. The chicken parm was our favorite of the offerings on the special menu. I was not expecting much from this Weymouth strip mall restaurant and there fore was not disappointed. The decor is decent but typical, high ceilings, plastic booths, the cliche vintage wine label posters. The menu features mostly seafood pasta dishes, some pizza and a few entrees. My friend got a shrimp and scallop pasta in a lemon cream sauce and I played it safe with a caesar salad and a veggie pizza with added pepperoni. The pasta dish tasted like a microwave dinner, perviously frozen, lacking all elements of "freshness" and in general pretty flavorless and blah. Definitely NOT worth the $20 they charged. My pizza was just OK. Too many "sun dried" tomatoes over powered the other flavors and the dough was floppy as hell. Oh yeah, and the rolls they served needed to sit in the oven a good 3-5 minutes longer. They were just slightly cooked white lumps of dough. I hadn't the desire to finish even one. I do have to say, that our waiter was very polite and attentive. HOWEVER, one of the other waiters insisted on vacuuming while we ate! This is a pet peeve of mine. I find it extremely rude and does not make for a relaxing dining experience. Even though they were serving food for 2 more hours, we were made to feel rushed and disgusted. I don't need dirt particles from the rug stirring up into my food, although some added flavor would be appreciated. All in all, I would NEVER make this place a destination, but if for some horrible reason, your stranded in the area late at night and starving, you will make it out alive. It was also empty in there. I went to Ecco on a Tuesday night and it wasn't too busy. I was greeted immediately by a friendly host who brought us to our table. I was there with my boyfriend and baby. I didn't ask for a highchair but someone brought one over right away. I like it when I don't have to ask. We sat down and ordered. Nice warm rolls came out immediately after we ordered, drinks were served and apps were ready shortly after. I ordered the Lemon Chicken and the chicken was cooked to perfection...juicy, perfect texture. My boyfriend ordered from the Tuesday Pasta special menu...$12.95 with a salad. Great deal! My boyfriend and I went here last night. It was an hour before closing on a Sunday night so I was afraid that we would be glared at when we walked in but they smiled and seated us in a cozy booth. The decor was nice and it was clean and warm. The waiter came over and greeted us with a big smile. My boyfriend ordered a glass of house merlot and I ordered a pomagranate martini. The house wine was fine but my martini tasted like kool aid, I didn't even finish it and that NEVER happens. We ordered the stuffed eggplant for an appetizer and it was better than good, but not great. I loved the presentation and they drizzled balsamic on it which gave it some nice flavor. Most of the time when you go to Italian restuarants they overdo it with the garlic, I think Ecco underdid it. The bread is an important part of the meal especially Italian meals. I was dissapointed when the waiter brought over a basket of plain jane dinner rolls with packets of butter. My boyfriend ordered the veal parmesan over linguine. It was decent. The pasta was cooked well and so was the veal but he had to salt the sauce. That is one reason I only gave this place 2 stars. The sauce is EVERYTHING in an Italian restuarant!!! I ordered the lobster ravioli. It was the frozen ravioli that the hotel I work for serves. You can't taste any lobster. They served in a pink sauce, nothing special. I had a couple and left the rest on the plate and when he asked if I wanted to take the $20ish dollar plate home I said no. The service was great. The place is clean, warm, inviting, charming. The food is dull. Very dull. Our ceasar salad was basically iceburg lettuce on a plate. We had to doctor that up with salt and pepper and anything else we could find on the table. we ordered two extra large pizzas tonight for dinner. this is our third time trying their special anniversary pizza deal and it is REALLY, REALLY delicious. $7 for an extra large cheese + you can pay additional for toppings. The sweet Italian sausage topping is the best around, real sausages sliced on the bias, not fake sausage crumble crap that they serve at most places in the area. we will definitely go here for lunch soon to try out their regular menu. the only reason i didn't give it five stars is because there is way too much basil in the pizza sauce IMO. it can be overpowering but it is still way better pizza than most in the Weymouth area read more

There were 5 of us on a very rainy night and a last minute decision to try Ecco. Service was exceptional, thanks to our server MaryAnn! Our salads, both mixed greens and Caesar, were fresh as was the dressing. We ordered eggplant parm, chicken parm, saltimbalka chicken, veal ravioli and chicken cacciatore; all were fresh and well presented. Food was very good; we will be back. It is reasonably priced and we did take advantage of the Tues night $12.99 pasta specials. Must say again how great the service was, thanks MaryAnn! Highly recommend Ecco Trattoria! read more

The food is great always at this place, however the mix drink especially the Martini is suck. don't order a Martini, a Young unexperienced girl or a waitress make your drink, and you will end drinking juice and paying $10.00 and more for a premium Vodka and low grade triple seck. I really enjoy their pizza - nice thin crust and yummy sauce. However I have not found their Eggplant parm, Veal parm or Chicken parm to be anything better than average and perhaps even a bit bland. Those dishes tend to be my measuring sticks for Italian food. read more
