One of the best pet supply stores. I was traveling through LA and stopped on a whim. They have an amazing selection, incredible service (see below), and help rescue organizations -- wow! The owner ended up personally helping me with a toy and tooth-cleaning dog chew. In asking him about a grooming tool, he explained it is a more economical version of something I already had, demonstrating integrity instead of a sale. Last, but not least, even though he knew I wasn't from LA and wouldn't probably be revisiting his shop, he loaded me up with a bag of sample sizes of treats and foods to take home in my suitcase. read more

Okay. This is as good as local gets. For starters, super cool shop - merch definitely geared toward the fun & cool crowd - skateboard pet bowls?! custom, hand-painted cat portraits?! It reminded me of Urban Pet, which I also love, but which isn't as close for me to walk to (or is, but with heavy pet supplies...not as easy) I, like others, also stopped in on a whim and was greeted by the super friendly dude (jeff?!) who asked what i currently fed my cats & then gave me loads of samples of comparable (but I'm guessing way healthier) options. Did taste tests with my cats and one kind was loved so much that the mischievous little boogers broke into one of the samples when I wasn't looking. Guess I'm going back for more of that one :) Oh, PLUS, they also run an awesome pet rescue organization - told me about a huge puppy mill they helped rescue dogs from - come on, these guys have their hearts in the exact right places. I'm just so happy to see these guys in the hood. I can walk there and they are so helpful and don't pressure you at all. I'm only sad that I may be moving soon, just when I found the perfect shop!!! read more

This store.. amazing. Full of warmth, and genuine concern for your pet and you! The 2 guys who own the store, Jf and Will are totally cool, they have knack for making you feel comfortable and can answer your questions, no matter how dumb they might be, without ever making you feel foolish. Not only do they have food, toys, supplies and clothing for your best friend, but they have some pretty crazy things for humans as well. I found the perfect gift for a friend of mine while there, how awesome is that? Also, they have mobile adoption events and.. wait for it.... free parking in the back! Prices are extremely reasonable.. you'd think a store this awesome would be charging a premium, but they're extremely competitive. And they really do want to be sure that whatever product you purchase for your pet, it's within your means- you never feel like a cheapskate if you opt to go with a lower priced product - everything they sell is top quality and there is something for everyone's budget. You can feel that they have a genuine concern for the well being of your pet. There's nothing fake or arrogant about these wonderful fellows. It's a bit of a drive for me to get there, but well well worth it. If you get a chance to stop in, go for it! You won't be sorry. It feels good to patronize small businesses like this! read more

I went to Echo Bark today for the first time with our senior rescue dog who hasn't been eating well (and has had lots of tests without any clear results so far). The staff and I think owner of the store were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and offered suggestions, genuine concern and a generous number of samples. This is everything you want your local pet supply store to be (including I think rescuing themselves and supporting rescue). I stopped in the other evening because I was working in the area. I live in Orange County and there was no way I was going to make it to local pet market in Huntington Beach by the time they closed. I have so many amazing things I could say about this shop and the team that runs it. I started shopping here almost 2 years ago, and they've helped me with my dogs sensitive tummys. Before that I always went to shops that didn't really know what they were talking about or had teenagers working who could care less. I was able to get them off that horrible science diet GID vet recommended food. The employees recommended Acana and raw goats milk and my dogs haven't had any issues in over a year. I love supporting a local business and this place goes above and beyond supporting the surrounding community. I went there one Saturday when there was an adoption event going on and found out the owners run a dog rescue. Thought that was so cool cause I got my dogs from the shelter. And I love bringing my dogs in to the store, they have the best time getting all the treats! read more

I went here when my cat was very ill and had pretty much stopped eating. The owner was very kind and took the time to make suggestions, even providing me with a ton of samples for my cat to try. He even made vet suggestions, since he knew I was on a budget and told me to call him if I had any trouble with the doctor he'd referred me to. When I got home from Echo Bark, my cat immediately started eating the BFF (Best Feline Friend) cat food that I'd got at the store. I'm forever grateful to the owner. read more

My husband and I are new to the area and needed to find a new friendly, knowledgable, local pet store that carries quality products. I was out exploring and stumbled across this awesome shop and could not be more excited about it! Jeff introduced me to the store and told me about their work with dog rescue (which had me right there), then continued on to introduce me to all of the fantastic dog food brands they carry and what makes each of them special (not just the quality ingredients, but a little about each of the companies as well). Our dog is 12 years old and is a rescue herself, and we have always done all we can to give her the best while at the same time supporting good local businesses that have the same values that we do. I didn't find my dog through their rescue but they still provide time and care in their advice on how to handle my fearful dog. I look forward to walking over from the SL Conservatory every week. When I became allergic to a preservative present in shampoo, Jf got on the phone with the manufacturers of the shampoos they sell and confirmed that it was not in their formula. I live in Valencia where there are one or two good natural pet food stores, but I was going out of town for a few months and needed to get multiple bags of Orijen Tundra freeze-dried food, which were suddenly out of stock everywhere. I called up Echo Bark and spoke with Jeff, who was the first employee out of all the stores I spoke to that seemed to genuinely understand the timeliness of the matter and how important it was for me that I make sure my dog is taken care of while i'm gone. He was so prompt with calling me back after checking with suppliers, and very informative (Orijen tundra is seasonal, which is why they were running low). We ended up deciding to switch to the Orijen Regional Red, and when I went to go pick it up, they were so efficient and friendly. Jeff even gave us a bunch of dog food and treat samples to take home. Having a separate parking lot is also a huge plus, especially in a congested area like Silverlake! read more
