I recently went here and I am very disappointed in this restaurant. I originally planned to have a sit down dinner (for 30 people) for a retirement gathering but decided to have a casual get together. So, I cancelled the sit down dinner. Once I entered this location I was question by three separate people (a manager and two wait staff) about how the bill was going to be paid. I was confused since we are all professionals (teachers) and everyone was going to pay their own bill similar to a Happy Hour. Management then moved everyone to three tables on the side of the restaurant. I don't know why did they did that? We did not have a formal dinner and didn't have to sit together. I felt so annoyed but I let it happened because I wanted them to leave me alone. The food was horrible. I ordered shrimp tacos that were cold and I think I had three shrimp in the entire meal. My friend ordered scallops and only had four scallops in her meal and her meal was over $30.00 dollars. I will never recommend this establishment and I would give a lower rating if I could. read more

We ate dinner here on a Friday night, and it was our second visit. The parking lot had a backup of 3 cars because they now have valet parking. They didn't have valet the first time we came, which was about 2 months ago. But their parking lot is too small for the number of seats, so I guess they chose to add valet parking (3rd party). Parking on the street (off of Rt 22) is limited. I'm somewhat surprised that Mountainside didn't require more parking for the size of the restaurant. We got seated right away and ordered our drinks and an appetizer (ginger wings). Our waiter was very friendly and provided good service throughout the night. For entrees, we had the churrasco skirt steak (super tasty), the Asian sesame salad with chicken (was a little dry so asked for more dressing) and the grilled chicken Cobb sandwich. For dessert we shared the Banging Banana which was very good. Pros: pretty good food, friendly staff, beautiful decor (interior and exterior). Cons: limited parking so must valet, prices seem a little bit high. We probably won't come back here for a while mostly because of the price and the bad parking situation. read more

While I have enjoyed coming here several times over the last few years, my most recent trips have been horrible experiences. Most recently, my friends and I attempted to arrive in time to take advantage of their Happy Hour specials and because of traffic arrived at 6:28pm (their happy hour ends at 6:30pm). However, the hostess assured us that we were fine and that she would inform our server to honor our Happy Hour requests. The server did so, came back to adjust a bit of our order, but then came back and informed us that he could not honor our Happy Requests, even after saying that he knew the hostess asked him to do so. Once the server brought our drink and appetizer orders, after we acquiesced, we asked to speak with the manager. We attempted to explain the ordeal and the manager began talking over us explaining that their system would not honor our requests even if the hostess said they would. He said if we had arrived 5 minutes before the system would have honored it. I then explained that I would not be drinking the martini that was brought. He advised that I would have to pay for it regardless. We then asked to speak to a different manager as we didn't appreciate the tone or aggression the first manager gave. The new manager Ronnie came over, apologized and acknowledged our frequent patronizing of their restaurant, left for a few moments and came back and informed us that he would honor our happy hour request. I'm not sure who the first manager was, but he was about to lose a few loyal customers due to his lack of customer care. Thankfully Ronnie saved the day. read more

I visited on a Friday night with a couple of friends and only had to wait approximately 15 minutes for a table. It's a big, trendy, restaurant with large screens if you wanted to watch a game. I was a bit surprised there was mandatory valet parking. I decided to avoid it and parked on the street. There was ample street parking but you have to be ready to walk. I believe the valet parking was free but a tip was appreciated. Nice selection of traditional beers but I was expecting a much bigger selection of crafty beers. We began with two orders of the bbq wings, traditional style. We had the Korean rub and the spicy bbq. Very tasty and the portion was good. I ordered the spare ribs and I was very pleased. The meat on the ribs just fell off the bone. The ribs were stacked on the plate and not flat. Different. My sides included baked potato and grilled asparagus. The grilled asparagus consisted of the big, fat, spears grilled in butter. Tasty. The prices were a bit on the higher side but it's to be expected. We didn't stay for dessert. Oh this is a great addition to the highway and a beautiful getaway from the fast food options on route 22. Echo has a beautiful and very unique interior. The ambiance is definitely multi-purposed, and the restaurant is honestly good for a guy's/lady's night, romantic date, or casual night out. Beautiful high ceilings, a gorgeous communal fireplace, and unique brass designs through ought the restaurant set the vibe for this place. I came here very late on a Monday night. Although the bar was nowhere near closing the kitchen was soon to close, and as such the restaurant stopped serving on the dining room side. However, since we were here for an impromptu birthday celebration, the servers were kind enough to seat us on the dining side. I'm really not sure what type of cuisine this place is. Although you would think its a traditional American restaurant, many of the items on the menu had a Latin/Mexican influence to it. Not to mention that we were served complimentary tortilla chips and salsa as soon as we sat down. For me I decided to go with the Sopressata brick oven pizza (tomato sauce, house mozzarella, salami, sausage, chili garlic, oregano) which was very tasty. The most impressive meal at the table however was the Pork Chop dish (French cut, served with mashed potatoes & topped with homemade Caribbean sauce). Make sure you save room for dessert! The restaurant specializes in sorcery and cooks up a mean Fried Ice cream dish. If you haven't heard of it and are in disbelief as I was, believe me ITS REAL! I celebrated one of my best friends birthday here this past weekend. we were a party of 12 & the service was great. our server was very sweet, accommodating, patient & attentive. the ambiance of the restaurant is very classy & chic. they have a nice little waiting area with a fire pit in the middle, nice huge windows & good lighting. the bar is in the center of the restaurant which can get a little noisy but is fine. after placing our orders food came out pretty swiftly and everything was so yummy! i had the shrimp tacos, sautéed spinach & a soup. lots of flavor and good pricing. will def come visit again! read more

I enjoyed the sweet potato fries and the classic burger. The crab cake is mushy. Mac n cheese is diner quality. The cappuccino was done well. The place is so roomy with high ceiling and industrialized deco and table settings, like a cool brewery but food is no better than any franchise food chains. Servers are moving, making sure you're well attended. If you sit by the front near the door, you will feel the unpleasant winter draft everytime someone walks in or out, because people won't always choose the revolving door. I have been coming here for several years with family and coworkers. The food is always good as is the vibe. Service, however, tends to be on the slow side, regardless of when you go. Yesterday, we went for my son's birthday. We arrived at 6:15 and left close to 9 p.m. for a basic dinner. Waited a very long time for our food and the place was nowhere near full when we arrived. The waiter was friendly and accommodating, but did not know what a lychee martini is. We also brought our own giant cookie in place of a cake for my picky 9 year-old, as well as a candle from home. We were charged a $6 "cutting" fee and $1 for an extra sparkly candle that they offered in addition to the candle that I brought. I have a lot to say about this place and as much as l would like to be nice I'd rather be honest. We sat down for outdoor dining, which is great that its provided and out waiter Hector gave us our menus. After ordering a app we had a hard time figuring out what to order as a meal. My friend went with the special that night, the pineapple fried rice and I ordered a rice dish in a hot bowl/plate. In between getting our meal and appetizer we ordered drinks that were both virgin. They were only filled half way so we called Hector over and asked if they would be able to serve us drinks that were actually full and not half because of the lack of alcohol. When we got out meals neither of us were impressed. In fact, we were disgusted by them. Again we called over hector and he brought over his manager, you could now tell that he was annoyed by us based on his body language and tone because it took us a while to figure out what we wanted. The manager proceeded to tell us that if we wanted something else we would have to pay for the new meal on top of what we already ordered. The table next to us who also got the pineapple fried rice spoke to us about how gross it was and that once they got home they were going to try and make it taste better because it would be a waste to just throw out. Would not recommend the actual meal, or the servers as Hector avoided us the rest of the night, but the appetizers were good. Hubby and I were looking for a new dinner spot, so we made our way to Echo Tap and Grille. Service was good. Drinks were brought promptly, as well as our meals. I ordered a farro and beet salad which, while tasty, was overpriced. My husband got the Aloha Burger. It fell apart after a few bites and also had this weird, very sweet thing that they said was guava but did not look like guava. Overall the meal was fine but I wouldn't rush back. Also, I was turned off at the start of the meal when the waitress recited the specials but didn't list the prices. They should always let you know the prices up front. The omelets ordered were a bit dry. For drinks I'd steer away from the bloody marry and get the red sangria instead. Great experience here last night. The hostesses friendly and quick. The server promptly came right over with cold water and warm chips ( and delicious salsa) . Service was great throughout. I had the fajitas and they were served so hot and they stayed that way through my entire meal. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because of a LOUD and I mean LOUD drum that gets played for peoples birthdays. It's startled me more than once and it literally was so loud it went through me. I've been here for the third time and each time service has been terrible. This last time was the worst with a total wait time for food an entire hour. I spoke with the manager about our experience and all he did was offer to discount $12 worth of coffee and drinks. He didn't offer us anything that would encourage us to come back to get a better experience which is what he should've done. He even went on to say they had to throw food away because of a misunderstanding with our order which was not our fault. To say the least the service was terrible, food was ok. I would recommend this for a chill date, (it's not fancy or anything - but cool if you want good food, drinks, and go to a place that has a unique/modern vibe). We will definitely return because everything was amazing! No reason not to, right? We did go at like 10:00 on a Sunday though - however, we were not at all rushed or anything, which I appreciated. Even though we didn't get dessert, we were asked, (so you know they did not try to rush us out of there). To me, going out to eat is an experience- because you can always order food to go, so when you're out, you want to enjoy yourself. I will say that mostly all of the servers were not as attentive as they should be, I should never have to sit around and wait for my server to come to my table again so I can order another beer, it's this lack of attention that bothers me, but it is rare to find great service anywhere these days. Went on a Tuesday night, no very crowded. We were seated right away. The decor is really nice, and the service was really nice & helpful too, from the hostess to the waitress who helped us. This place has some awesome sandwiches and bar food, and the drinks were delicious too. We finished the night with a fried ice cream, which they literally set on fire in front of my face - amazing and delicious. The only thing I wasn't into was the truffle fries... I LOVE truffle fries but these reminded me of Burger King fries with cheese shredded on them. Not my fave. Food was very good- plentiful, tasted fresh, hot and nice presentation. Waiter (Mateus D.) was excellent- attentive, knowledgeable, pleasant with good eye contact. He came back often to check on us. The only reason I'm only giving 4 starts is that they force the "complimentary car valet" service on you. Though the valet staff was ready, pleasant and cordial, when I tried to decline the service, I was told, if I wanted to park in the lot, the valet service would have to park it. I don't see any reason why customers HAVE to use a valet service. Valet service is a courtesy. It shouldn't be a requirement. read more

In general, our bill is always higher here compared to next door at Stagehouse for the exact style of food. Typically food is fine but nothing to write home about. Since COVID, they have now started adding a credit card surcharge to the bill and were even petty enough to add a "Birthday Candle" line item charge for a recent visit. Went there today for a bridal shower. Modern decor, bathrooms are very dark! Food was good- had calamari, spinach dip (very cheesy!) and chicken tostadas w/rice. Food was fresh, good presentation, and flavorful. Guacamole was very fresh. I also had a cappuccino and mini biscotti - they were ok. I did not have an alcoholic beverage- but really wish I could have because the sangria looked awesome- packed with fresh fruit! Service was rocky at first-- lacking plates/utensils. They took orders --but then when delivering the food it was a bit disorganized (just servers yelling out orders hoping someone would yell out if it was theirs). The one server was a good leader and got everything organized once he saw the mix ups and servers holding plates confused. They also removed app plates while apps were still being served. They did start to tighten up at the end, checking on drinks, making sure things were ok. I also saw them sing happy birthday (with instruments)...it was really cool/unique!
