Bought a hitch for my truck realized they did not paint the entire hitch it's gotten completely rusted. I went back so they could sand it down and paint it and they painted right over the rust. They did not want to do the job right and remove the bumper. Said it was to much work and thats how they make all their hitches. It still has rust on it. Very disapointed their about quantity not quality. I won't lie they know what their doing but look at the picture for your self. They also welded my bumper to the hitch. Now i cant remove it to work on the rear end. They wanted to charge me to fix it. read more

These guys do an outstanding job. Omar and others (didn't get their names) treated me fairly and squeezed me in when they didn't have to. The end product installed is totally to my liking. I bought a new 2020 Honda CR-V. The folks here installed a trailer hitch that is barely noticeable, exactly how I wanted it. The job took less than 2 hours, and considering how busy they were was shocked it wasn't longer. Not much of a waiting area but comfortable enough considering how short the wait was. Adding this because if you doing it again I might buddy up with someone to pick me up after I drop my car off to go do other things than hang out. In conclusion, can't emphasize enough of the positive experience I had with such young, knowledgeable and professional people in charge here. These folks were all so nice.. I just finished purchasing a trailer in Fillmore yesterday and unfortunately my wiring harness was not working properly and could not take it off the lot. I called around a few local mechanics and many of them either would not work on it or were already charging an arm and a leg before looking at it. Our trailer dealer recommended to go to Eckharts in Oxnard so we called ahead first in the morning. spoke to Daniel, and he was incredibly friendly and informative over the phone. We went to go visit later that day and Daniel immediately attended us and began to diagnose the issue. Within about 5-10 minutes he figured out the problem (Faulty converter box) and sold us the part we needed at a reasonable price. Im new to this whole trailer owning world, and i've always been very suspicious of mechanics as I have been lied to and ripped off many times in the past but Daniel was incredibly trust worthy and knowledgeable. I live in Santa Clarita and have one or two Eckharts closer to where I live, but the next time I have an issue with my trailer, I will only be going to the Oxnard location because of the great service I received yesterday. Went in two weeks ago to get a receiver installed for my new bike rack. I made an appointment and arrived on time. Receiver was installed in two hours. It works great. Be aware that a receiver for a bike rack and a receiver to tow a trailer are two different things and an electrical outlet is an additional cost. But I just needed the bike rack and they were friendly and practiced good social distancing and I witnessed them disinfecting the place as we left. I would definitely recommend them, just be certain what you want. I was given a written estimate with a detailed description when I dropped off my car. read more

They failed to tell us that when they do that, it's considered structural damage and it basically made it as if the car had a salvaged title. We purchased a new SUV and was surprised our dealership was not able to put in a 7 pin connector on a SUV they claim can tow 5k lbs. After much research we opted to have the dealer install the factory hitch and had Eckharts do the wiring for the 7 pin connector and brake controller. Just had a tow hitch installed and I'm very disappointed with their service!!! I told the employee that I needed the hitch for a bike rack and in case I want to tow a trailer. He took it upon himself to decide (without asking me) that I didn't need the electrical line (that you MUST have to legally tow a trailer). Then, after I confronted him about it a few days after the job, he wanted to charge me extra to have it installed. In fact, the extra was almost as much as the install for the tow hitch altogether. Needless to say, I will NOT recommend ANYONE go there. Especially, now that I've asked the Ford dealer (which is always more expensive) and they will charge $100 less to install the electrical line. Do NOT use them if you can help it... Very dissatisfied customer! read more

Just got a hitch installed there earlier today on my 2013 Prius Plug In. I made an appointment for 11:00 and I arrived there around 10:45. Trevor showed me how the hitch would look and told me it would take 1 - 1.5 hours to do the install. They finished the install in only 30 minutes and they did a fantastic job. The hitch is hidden so you only see the opening for the receiver. Everything else is tucked away neatly. AND they installed a 2" receiver! Every other company only sells a 1.25" receiver for the Prius. I also liked how they welded the hitch to the frame vs every other company only uses bolts. The hitch looks sturdy and I can't wait to put my bike rack on it. Trevor and his guy did a great job today. Their price is definitely higher than other places but the quality of the work was great and if you have a Prius and want a 2" receiver, this place is probably your best bet. read more

About a month ago I contacted a competitor who told me I had to make an appointment & leave my car for 4 hours at a cost of $200-250 to have my tow bar & wires removed from my car. On Friday I checked the reviews on this business only to see people recommending Eckhart's. Saturday morning I drove to their location assuming I would get a quote & an appointment to bring my car back. They had me pull my car around the back & asked me to wait in the waiting room. I think they came twice to ask me questions. Bottom line, I don't think I was there 10 minutes when they were finished to my pleasant surprise & satisfaction. To top it off, they didn't charge me for this very minor fix for them, but very big deal for me. I could tell they do much more complicated work there, but it was so nice that they took the time in their busy schedule for me. read more
