I just moved to Virginia from Georgia and don't know a single person. i come from a place where you know everyone, have connections and have the same stylist your whole life. I was extremely nervous to try someone new because I have had the typical nightmare where you venture out and your layers turn into something from a photo shoot from 1983. Moving forward, the salon not only matched a competitor's first visit coupon for good faith, but was able to get me in on a Saturday with a level 3 stylist. Mallory is one of the best things that has happened to me since my move! Her personality was stunning and I could tell she genuinely cared about her new client so I actually enjoyed myself and the conversation during the usual long, boring process. She didn't question me when I asked for black low lights (most stylists in the past have been afraid to do it) My hair turned out absolutely perfect. She took an inch off and I can't even tell, in fact my hair strangely looks longer. The color is absolutely devine and compliments my light Irish complexion perfectly, and she framed my face with soft layers that make me look like I actually have some style going on with my typical boring hair. I can't believe that I found someone so phenomenal, at such an upbeat and luxurious salon and was treated like royalty on my first visit. Mallory and Eclips have a loyal client as long as I live in Virginia (and even if I move I will probably fly back) and I must give props to Mallory's assistant because I received the most amazing conditioning treatment with a massage. I was going to the movies tonight with my husband but now I'm putting the heals on and we're going on a hot date! Thank you for making my whole weekend!! read more

They do fantastic kids cuts. Always take their time and it's always nice and even. Much better than most kids haircut places.

I booked an updo for me and my daughter. The receptionist was very nice. She told me prices over the phone. I asked if the updo included a wash & dry-she clearly said yes. When i got to the salon, the hairstylist came to my daughter without a smile and asked what she is having done. I told her updo and my daughter said she wanted 2 braids from the side and hair halfway down with big curls. The hair stylist looked at me-still not friendly At All and said she was booked for a haircut. I told her no that is a mistake, I clearly booked for 2 updos for us. I was at the wash sink when she took her away to start styling. I didn't realize there was no wash and dry for her. My stylist had my hair washer help her with blow drying my hair. My hair is not long but thick. Not ridicously thick for her to need help. I have been to Four Seasons Salon, Bubbles and Current Salon by Nese and NONE of these salons have ever had 2 people work on my hair. My stylist was nice and friendly. She did my hair in under an hour. She told me it would be a nice silky finish. That is not what the end result was. I went to go pay and they charged me extra for my "thick" hair. My daughters hair was messy in the front. The braids had pieces sticking out. I did not see where her stylist went to have her fix it. I went to pay and my total was $196. This is Ridiculous to pay for 2 updos. If the updos were neat and clean and our hair was in place, than yes I would be ok. Also if I was not given incorrect pricing, I also would have been ok. The recpetionist told me I was told incorrectly that wash and dry was not included in the updo price. My mom also had a blowdry done, she was charged $65 for it and when I looked at the packet they gave, blow dry clearly says $44. My mom has short thin hair and nothing extra was done to it. Her stylist was very nice and she did an amazing job. Even though overcharged. I have lived in Ashburn for over 15yrs and I will never ever recommend this salon to anyone. I have my family and plenty of friends here, I will recommend Current Salon by Nese over this place. They need to train their recpetionists better to tell the correct price and service over the phone and make sure the right service is listed in the appointment. This salon came highly recommended. I arrived five minutes early for my first hair cut. I checked in and the receptionist told me to go around the corner and be seated. Fifteen minutes later I was still sitting, no one had come by to offer coffee or to tell me when the stylist would be available. I got up to leave ten minutes later and the stylist came over and brought me to her chair. She then took me to the girl to wash my hair. The girl was just finishing up another customer. Much to my surprise this customer went over to my stylist and sat down. I could not believe it. I was already 25 minutes late for my appt. and they expected me to wait another 45 minutes. Needless to say I left without getting my hair cut and would never recommend this salon to anyone. Staff not at all friendly. read more

Negative experience and i wont go back. While i was ok with what i had done with my hair, i found them to be WAY overpriced for a salon that essentially looks like one step up from supercuts. (The waiting area was like being in the local emergency room--no character, dated furnishings.) Plus they told me that having my hair blown dry would be an extra $40! My hair was blown dry by a tech, who was very nice, but who 'combed' my wet hair with a brush!!! No good salon in my view would detangle WET hair with a brush and not a wide tooth comb. When she fininshed, my hair was completely plastered to my head. Again, my color was ok, but my total bill was $177. Again, for the service and expertise and quality received, this was seriously overpriced. read more

So about a month ago decided to go get my hair blow dry at this location, I wanted to do a wavy sun beach do, the final outcome was terrible. The hair was still humid, they curled it like I was going to the prom, which in my 30s that is the last thing you want to do. That being said I left with a $50 price tag for a curly up-do that looked horrible and had to go home and wash my hair and redo my own hair. Complete waste of money, if they can't even blow dry hair truly doubt they can do color. Please don't go here. read more

I called the Eclips Salon in Ashburn VA, and asked itf the salon had any stylist that could do ethnic hair. To my amazement, I received the following response: We don't do "that" kind of hair. Considering the Ashburn area is pretty diverse in 2010, I would think this salon would want to also cater to clients with "ethnic" hair as well, and not refer to it as "that" kind of hair. read more

I used to go here a lot a couple of years ago. I just recently moved back to the area and decided to try it again. The girls at the front desk were too busy chatting about their night out before to a few of the stylists when I walked in. I had to interrupt them just to get checked in. When I finally did see my stylist, she came up to me reeking of smoke and just sat me down for a shampoo. She then went to the back of the salon and started talking loudly to another stylist about how hung over she was and how hard it was going to be tonight because she was getting her kids back. Apparently she just wanted to go to sleep. NICE on so many levels. My hair was trimmed very quickly and then an assistant who looked young enough to be one of my daughters friends dried it. The prices here are pretty high, I've received more respect and better haircuts at Bubbles. Save your money and your brain. This one's a MESS read more

Don't waste your time or money!!! (I am new in the area) I walked in & was told to have a seat. Most salons you sit in the front part, but as I was looking, the receptionist looked at me weird as to what I was doing. I told her it was my 1st time & she took me to the mid section to wait. I noticied a lot of very young stylists working there. While waiting, one came in thinking she was a diva, sunglasses (it was raining outside), tight pants, heels, attitude, etc. I was taken to the back of the salon & sat at a square table, facing other clients. My stylist came & was pleasant (Jessie). She listened to what I wanted & seemed to understand. I asked for Goldwell color & she said they had something better from Sweden, & it was organic & less damaging to hair. I asked how long color would stay & she said 6 months. She was also going to condition the ends at the same time. Said my ends were great, even though I hadn't had a cut in 3 months!!She said she was going to ATL (I think) to a color class/school so she could come back & teach her co-workers as well as other salons the techniques. So I was feeling pretty good about how this was going to turn out. I was not comfortable sitting at a table with other customers & employees, while trying to having a "private" conversation with my stylist, & everyone listening. There was no mirror to see what the stylist was doing either. Once finished she took me to her station to do the comb out. She had to do a bit of a blow out, so she could see the color. I could see a front view & she kept telling me how beautiful it looked. I had to ask for a mirror so I could see the back. Yes, it looked nice. I asked if she had time to trim my ends about 1-2", she did have time so she did. I have thin, fine, straight hair. This took all of 5 minutes. I waited for the stylist to write up her "sales slip" & hand it to the cashier. I knew the highlights were $135, but never asked about the trim, I was charged $65!!!!!!! I know that is standard, but it's a bunch of crap!!. As I was leaving, I noticed a display with a card listing services & a coupon for 10% (maybe 20%) off services. It would have been nice if the receptionist would have offered this to me when I arrived. Anyway, whatever "organic" color was put on my hair, was probably a rinse, my hair didn't have the highlights in the back & underneath (I paid for full head) & seemed to get darker every week. I had NO body to my hair, which is why I get the highlights in the first place. My "color" maybe lasted 2 wks. As I said, if it was organic, it doesn't work, otherwise it was some type of rinse. Will NOT go back there, nor recommend anyone!!! Rip off, poor products. FYI, I came from NYC & my hair place charged $138 hi-lites & $20 trim. The store had over 18 stylists, so no shabby salon. DC is overpriced. I have since found Diane Dobson (LifeSpa 703-433-0256) she also listens, takes her time & gets the results. She uses Wella, which I wasn't thrilled with, but highlights did come out nice. She also offered to use Goldwell next time. read more
