I placed an order online (and entered my credit card online), and then the company demanded that, in addition to this, I send them a credit card authorization (with card number and CVV) via email. Was asked to fill out another form after payment had been made with all my credit card information. I asked if I can fill out the information without my credit card information on it and sign on the bottom line. They stated "Unfortunately, due to company policy, with the rise of fraudulent credit card activity we cannot process your order without a completed credit card authorization form. This form protects not only our company but also the credit card holder from any fraudulent activity." This is for "ECOBOX - San Antonio" - * No other location Recommendation...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! * Unless of course you enjoy being abused and called a F*cking A$$hole from the OWNER himself...when/if you have the audacity...the unmitigated gall and temerity to complain about their service and his employee, whose lack of "problem solving" capacity, sends her over the edge and HANGS UP on you. So here's the story: I needed shipping boxes and went to the corporately administered EcoBox website to make a purchase. I normally buy "in-store" at EcoBox on Brody Lane in Austin where I have ALWAYS received excellent customer service. From their "corporately run" website, (all EcoBox stores are independently owned and operated...as a FRANCHISE - and they will apparently sell one to ANYBODY)...I selected and proceeded to purchase the boxes. If buying online you MUST create an account. Basic INFO...name - address - phone. But...at "shipping", they make it a bit more difficult. You won't know that even though your went to your LOCAL stores website...that you're NOT ordering from any particular store. You must declare your "Pick-Up" location in the "Special Delivery Instructions". Again...I chose to PICK UP...no delivery. (Bad website engineering) At the very bottom of their webpage...in very small print...far below the Submit Your Order...it says this: "Customer Pick-Up - Please note the location you wish to pickup your order in the 'Special Delivery Instructions' form field of the 'Review & Submit Your Order' page. Not all items are available at all stores. Please call to confirm availability." I don't know if their DEFAULT "Pick-Up" location is San Antonio or if the girl saw my order on their "Corporate Dashboard" and mistakenly thought that Spicewood, Texas is somewhere near San Antonio..but she took the order off the Dashboard as a San Antonio "pick-up". When she didn't have the product in stock...she called...and I bewilderingly answered the call from a 210 Area Code (San Antonio). She said she had my order but the items were not in stock. I asked why she was calling from an entirely different city than where I presumed I placed my order. She then "corrected me" and told me that I placed my order in San Antonio...which was obviously ludicrous, and after I tried to explain this to her...she thought it would be best to "Cancel" my online order...and HANG UP. So I called back. And what can only be explained as cowardly behavior, (she must have recognized the number and after 10 rings or so)...the owner answered instead. Immediately his attitude reflected that of his employee. When I told him what I had just experienced and asked if this was how EcoBox trains their employees...the gloves came off and this owners lack of "conflict resolution" abilities...and junior high level English language proficiency...came out. "You just called to insult me?"...he exclaimed! - No, I said, but your employee just hung up on me and I wanted to ask if this is how your train your people? His next response shows why not everybody should be a small business owner. (See Above - name calling) Bottom line is this...there are lots of places to buy boxes in San Antonio. I would suggest the following: Best Price Boxes One Dollar Moving Boxes 1/2 Price Boxes Pak-Mark Lowes Home Depot Anywhere but the "San Antonio" EcoBox location with their poorly trained staff and emotionally insecure and word challenged owner. I cannot praise this company highly enough, particularly Sam Lee. I had used EcoBox previously for boxes for a move across town and was very satisfied with their service, so I came in a couple days ago needing boxes for some Christmas gifts. Sam asked the dimensions of my gifts and then showed me multiple options, including price differences. He also encouraged me to call for a UPS quote on shipping once I got everything packaged up. The next day, I called for a quote as Sam recommended. He remembered my name as soon as he answered the phone and promptly created a quote, even though my order was quite large and time consuming. I brought my packages into the store and he created my labels for me and helped me find the best rates. Not only was this enormously helpful, but it also meant I could avoid all long lines at post offices and shipping centers! He sent me email confirmations immediately upon my order as well. I appreciate how eco box offers biodegradable packaging and is very cost effective. This level of customer service has now made me a lifelong customer. My sister-in-law had some weirdly sized packages that needed to be shipped from NJ to CA, including a 46-inch flat screen tv. Thank goodness I found Ecobox! They worked with me to get the right sized boxes custom made for the sis-in-law and Sam Lee made the whole process easy! We needed the boxes by a certain day and Sam made sure we got it ahead of schedule. Their prices were pretty reasonable too but their service makes it an even better deal. My husband and I had some stuff that I need to send from Texas to Philippines, including the two TV's which is 32" and I need a customized box. We've been in many places but couldn't find store can make a customized box. One of UPS agent tell us about ecobox, we check online and found it. We've sent some request for a price quote in ecobox and we're lucky they can make it. I order it right away and that was pretty fast and easy to order. Thanks to Sam Lee for the giving me the quote and giving me some idea about the filament tape to make my package safe. Filament tape is so affordable so I bought 3 rolls of filament tape. And the shipment is great even though I'm not at the house but they still did something for me to have the box the day they shipped it. I'm really happy and thankful. The worse customer service ever!!!! This company failed to have the boxes I've ordered ready for pick up on time. I ended up wasted time and gas on a trip to their store for nothing. Then Sam Lee refused to ship the boxes to me because I am not a frequent customer. When I asked to speak with a manager, he simply replied that "I am the manager and there is no one else you can speak with"!!! I for sure won't be a "frequent customer" if this is what I have to deal with on my first order with them. read more
