I used them via Costco in 2018. I spent $12,500 with them on a new AC unit. I got normal maintenance twice after that with a different company. In 2021, it became more and more obvious that adequate cooling was not being achieved. I called them to examine my system. They tried to sell me their M8 system for $10,000. They explained they would take apart my existing furnace and replace the parts with new motors and controls. By doing so it would increase the CFM. They would also replace all the ducts bcz they agreed they weren't in good condition. They said the unit I bought for $12,500 in 2018 was an entry level, single speed unit not optimal for my house and the existing zoning system. Their M8 system would make my existing furnace a true variable speed unit. I had 3 other companies come in 2021 for their opinions. They all said the same thing. The duct work that was done in 2018 was poor quality. In 2018 when we got the new unit Econo Air should've done a better job with the ducts. In Econo Air's defense, in 2018, they did tell me they wouldn't replace all the ducts but only fix, tape, etc, the ones that needed help. It would've been better for them to do what was truly needed at that time. These other companies also said the unit I bought with them in 2018 was not good because it was a single speed unit which should not be used for zoning in a house like mine. Why didn't Econo Air tell me that in 2018 when they sold me the unit? Why didn't they recognize and explain that I should get a variable speed unit at that time? Why didn't they do the duct work properly at that time either? Why are they now, only 3 years from their install admitting the ducts are poor and that the unit I have isn't adequate? They are trying to sell me their M8 system for $10,000. As the technician left, he asked if i was ready to proceed to which i said no. I wanted time to think about it. He acted annoyed and said, what else do you need to think about? btw if i were to buy a brand new variable speed unit, it would be $13,000. What do you think would be better, buy their M8 "system" for $10k or a brand new system for $13K. As far as I know Econo Air doesn't actually manufacture these kinds of products. Are they a manufacturing company? They would probably just be putting some other manufactured products into the furnace and call the end result theirs. I also inquired about the whole house fan with the same rep. The quiet cool whole house fan is roughly $2000 or so. Econo Air sells their version called the Mizer (which uses your houses existing HVAC equipment) for $5000. The thing that struck me from the rep was he said the only reason to get the whole house fan is if you care about saving energy. He asked me, do you really care about saving energy? I am not an expert at HVAC systems. I may not be understanding or explaining everything totally well but the point is, I don't think they can be trusted to do what is best for the customer. I went with them in 2018 bcz of the affiliation with Costco. After using Costco for my home water system and solar panels I felt like any companies that Costco uses can be trusted. However this isn't true. I found that out with Econo Air, and also Costco's kitchen refinishing affiliation. Both cannot be trusted. I wish I did more research and got more quotes before I went with Econo Air in 2018. I probably would've only spent few more thousand dollars at that time but would've actually got what I needed. Do your research and get other quotes before proceeding with Econo Air is my recommendation. read more

The Misdirection and the lack of Ethics that the company representative exhibited is the reason the company earned 2 stars. I called Econo Air as my AC stopped working on a hot summer day in Southern California. They were prompt and courteous on the phone and arrival. They were also professional and fast in diagnosing the issue I had, that is why they earned an extra star. The problem came when i was quoted half a $1000, for a pair of fuses. What? But his recommendation was to repair the unit for $12,000!!!! Who has that kind of money laying around. After thanking the technician for his time, I properly escorted him from my house and immediately called to get a second opinion from a reputable company. They were also prompt , found the problematic fuses, replaced them (they had parts in their truck) and only charged me $150. WOW Get it done right and go with another A/C repair company: save yourself time and money $$$. read more

I got them through Costco for replacing my HVAC system. The guy come briefly looked at outside of the furnace and compressor, saying a lot about the old house old duct old return, etc. Then sent us a estimate with sky high number ($23,000)for a 1900sf house. The worst part of it: No tonnage of the compressor specified. Upon the inquiry, they said big or small the tonnage, the system have same price. Be aware to this one. read more

Econo Air is a complete scam job! I was referred to them through Costco to replace my furnace and Air conditioning. I had my unit installed in July of 2014 and was told by Econo Air I needed to have my unit serviced by them twice per year to remain under the factory warranty. This last service the technician came out and did his service then advised my wife we needed a $1500 inline filter because my system was under too much load. After the technician left and completed his service, my correctly working AC unit stopped working altogether. I called Econo air, and they sent the same tech out the next day, and he informed I needed the inline filter because my system was under too much load. I knew the was complete BS, so I requested the manager "Matt" come out. I am sure glad I got the entire repair on video from my phone and my Ring camera! Matt had discovered that the original tech had hooked up my fan and condenser correctly to resister, causing the unit to run, then overheat, then shut off. I did the vicious cycle for 24 hours. The Econo Air techs refused to give me any paperwork, and the corporate office refuses to provide me with any paperwork regarding this incidence. I now fear the AC unit hooked up incorrectly may cause long term damage. I always thought I was safe if Costco referred me to a company, but now I am entirely scared of any company Costco refers, they refuse to do anything about this. read more

I called them for emergency maintenance service on our A/C system and they responded right away. They managed to sent someone within a few hours. Econo technician, Israel was awesome. He troubleshoot the problem very quick and explained maintenance options very clearly. Our AC got its fix and the cool air was circulating again in our house. We had Econo Air come out and give us a quote in August of 2017 through Costco. We had multiple quotes and even though they were a bit more than some of the quotes we got, they seemed to give more detail on the quote that made us feel comfortable. We decided to wait until this year to actually install because we had a other repairs that needed to be addressed first. I requested a quote again from Econo Air and they insisted that they come out again and go over the house and what they would do. Their CEO came out for both of the quotes and we were happy with what he had to say. We called to get some answers to our questions and did not receive a call back until the next week. We were a bit disappointed since we were trying to get answers so we could make a decision on when we would install. This was then they had their sales person Monique call and this was where everything went downhill. On top of her talking over me on the phone and putting on the super high pressure sale, she did not answer my questions. Her response was that the owner had went over all of it with my husband. This did not answer my questions and was absolutely rude since I was not there for the conversation and she kept saying that my husband had told the owner that he was satisfied with what he told him. My husband was the one that called them with questions, so obviously he was not satisfied. She kept telling me that they could not give me a written quote because the owner already discussed it all with my husband and all he did was write some numbers on the back of a pamphlet. The original quote we received in 2017 from them was a letter on company letterhead detailing everything that would be done and that was included in the install. Monique kept telling me that they could get that ready, but it would be a contract that the owner would bring over and have us sign that day. This was even more pushy. She kept telling me that I would miss out on the Costco 15% offer. I decided at this point I needed a day to think and I did not answer her numerous calls. I answered her call the next morning and she started out with telling how the owner was confident he could do the job, which was not necessary to say. She then said they had extended the deadline for the 15% and I said I did not care about the 15%, I wanted to get a written quote sent to us like they had done before. She said that they could not do that and that is when I said bye and I will take my business elsewhere. I will also be contacting Costco to ask that they refer me to another vendor and let them know how this vendor is treating their members. read more

When you get a new a/c, they leave pamphlets on your neighbors door which becomes a liability for burglaries and becomes trash either on your door, or flying in the wind in your yard. When I arrived home and saw what happened on a Friday afternoon, I promptly called them. Their female receptionist wasn't helpful, didn't bother to take down my address or phone number -- thus ignoring this issue. Just a little additional information to my saga is they have not to this day called me to let me know my warranty part is in, however they do not hesitate to call me for my biannual service. Our A/C system went out during a scorching hot week and Econo Air came to change our filters. They said that if our A/C still wasn't working that they would change our thermostats for free since they were still under warranty. It turns out that our thermostats weren't under warranty, but they still installed them for us free of charge since they already promised us that. We are happy with their service and we recommend them to anyone in need of some A/C repairs! read more

Econo Air came to my condo because our a/c stopped working. Turned out a breaker had been tripped. When the service tech went to look at the condenser, he said that "all of the wiring had melted together so it's overloading the breaker." He said the unit was so bad that it couldn't be fixed and that it would be $4,995 for a new unit. Within 10 minutes, the tech's "boss" showed up, for what the tech said was quality assurance. The "boss" explained that they CAN repair the a/c components for only $2900, but that the fixed components would probably only last 2-3 years. The boss offered this cheaper option without even looking at the unit, and the tech never stopped him to say, "oh no, the unit is so bad that it can't be fixed." I think the tech would have been happy to get any money out from me. Of course, all the while the air is now running because the breaker was turned back on. Four days later, and with the a/c still running, I had a second company come out to give a quote. They didn't charge me a dime and said their only recommendation was to change the dirty air filter at the intake. The a/c works fine, and they said if I hadn't told them the unit hadn't had work done, they would have thought the wiring had already been replaced at some point because it was so clean. The guy even had me climb down to where the a/c unit is so I could see for myself (something I should have done when Econo Air was here). So who would you believe? Econo Air who changed their story during the diagnostic visit and tried to sell me on a $5k unit, or the company who didn't charge me a dime? I also noticed that Econo Air wrote on my invoice that the unit's "freon levels are way off spec." Those techs must have been really good since they never actually did any tests for that, and they were able to tell that the freon was "off spec" just from walking across my porch. Awesome. So yesterday evening I called and demanded a refund for the $69 service call fee since the tech was clearly dishonest. The customer service supervisor said he couldn't help because his dispatcher and accounting team had already gone home for the day. He said the dispatcher would be back in at 7am this morning and that I would get a call ASAP. Well, it's 230pm now, and no word from Econo Air. Shocking! P.S. I ended up disputing the charge on my credit card and got my money back that way. As of 11/1/2017, the original a/c unit that Econo said needed to be replaced is still going strong. read more

We had a very difficult and expensive time with this company over the last few years and are finally moving on with someone else, Econo Air should not be trusted to work honestly or fairly on anything that they sell or are called out for. They really took us for a ride and that is not typical for us. Each time they would come out which was annually as needed they would charge us $1200 or more for "fixes" that may or may not have been legitimate. They "gouged" us every year. To the point I realized it was several thousand dollars and we could have replaced our entire system instead. Our situation was escalated to the president of the company who then attempted to make things "right"......by giving us a waiver to try to fix the problems that we incurred. We then found out that through a second opinion that the "complimentary" fix wasn't worth the amount that they had stated to us. We had incurred multiple expenses for replacement of parts, labor, incorrect installations and we then find out the above. Then the president writes us an email that was really unnecessary and unhelpful. It was Christmas Eve and we are traveling on business and seeing family and Econo Air is not happy with our Yelp review and asking us to revise it since they felt our problems were addressed. We are now exasperated and after reading the email the president sent saying that we would be DELETED from the database if they did not hear from us by January 4th. Do your homework and get comparables from other vendors so you can make a wiser decision. My A/C and Furness worked fine with the exception of a couple of damper motors that needed to be replaced. Called Econo Air to look at the damper motors. The repairmen arrived, turned the system on and then told me that the power was cutting out intermittingly. It had never happened before. He told me that a circuit board needed to be replaced. We had not had any problem with the controllers ever before he arrived. He quoted me $5,000 to replace the circuit board and 2 damper motors. I declined. Now the controllers do not work at all. The repairman claimed that it was due to the circuit board, which worked fine before he arrived. I was charged $99 and now my HVAC system doesn't work at all. I think it is pretty clear what was going on. You can draw your own conclusion. I'll be moving on to a more highly rated company. read more

Most important part of this review: Econo Air quoted us 5x MORE than we ended up paying to replace our entire AC unit using another company. That's right, we paid $1325 for the unit, installation, etc. Econo Air quoted us $6500. For that alone, avoid this place! We went through Costco to have someone check our A/C, which hasn't worked in 2 years. We figured since Costco vets their vendors we would at least get a decent company. In fact, other than Econo Air showing up on time and Tim being pleasant, this was really a poor experience. Tim checked our system and immediately began suggesting "fixes" that were really expensive and didn't answer our questions. In his ballpark estimate, a full replacement would be $6500 and to replace the compressor, which he said was the problem, would be $2800. He then described how he'd replace the whole ceiling component on the inside of our house, but really (as I've found out after getting quotes from other vendors) that is purely aesthetic since there is nothing wrong with that part of our system. The whole time he didn't explain anything thoroughly or with care, choosing instead to play the "I'm an expert you should listen to me" card. It was pretty condescending. Also, he answered his cell phone for a non-work related call, which I find completely unprofessional. At the end of the meeting, I asked for a written quote on the things he mentioned and you'd think I told him I was from outer space. He seemed flustered and told me that he would email it to us by Monday. We've received nothing from them and wouldn't use them if they did get back to us. Thanks to this experience, we decided to get several other quotes. Looking back, this whole experience was amateur hour compared to the other companies we've had out. The guy was here for barely 10 minutes. P.S. Did anyone else notice the ridiculous number of filtered reviews? There are 60+ positive reviews filtered from reviewers only writing reviews for EconoAir (aka one hit wonders)... it is highly suspicious, if you ask me. Maybe EconoAir should start providing quality customer service instead of making up fake Yelp accounts to pump up their ratings. Unethical Yelpers! Much like previous reviewers, we got 3 options to fix our broken "distributor" with pricing options ranging from $864 - $3646. The tech seemed very nervous so we called another company for a second opinion. Turns out, our model AC unit does not even have the part they wanted to replace! Got it fixed for $180 through a REPUTABLE company. ***WARNING*** These people pray on folks who do not know any better. I wish we would have read their yelp reviews BEFORE they came out. Do Not Ever work with this company. I signed up through Costco for an AC Tune up. The serviceman Luis came out and spent an hour telling me that my system was outdated and needed to be replaced. he didn't tune up anything. My AC was running fine, and was working properly while he was here. The air was coming out of the vents at 53 degrees. After he messed around with the back of the unit for 10 minutes, he had me sign some forms and took a check for $69. He said he'd have his manager come back out the next Saturday to give me pricing on a new unit. Later that night, I turned on my AC unit. What do you know? The compressor won't turn on and the AC doesn't work anymore! Thats really weird because 1) my AC has always worked fine and never had a problem, and 2) the AC guy was just here and it was working fine. After researching online and turning the unit on and off repeatedly, I gave up for the night. The next morning I went out to the unit and took the back off. ONE OF THE WIRES CONNECTED TO THE COMPRESSOR WAS COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF THE UNION. This guy INTENTIONALLY ripped this wire off knowing that it would let the unit run, but keep the compressor from turning on. He did this so I would have to have them come back and "fix" my broken AC and spend money. I have never dealt with a company so malicious and shady. I have already contacted Costco corporate, YELP, and I'm reporting their license, and complaining on the BBB. This company, as you can see from the reviews, is on their way out of business. I am revising my review for Econo-Air as after explaining my complaint here online and by phone with their corporate office, their team was able to address the issues we experienced. I have raised my review from one-star to two, it is for a few reasons - 3 stars is consider "A-Okay" and I do not consider the experience I went through to meet that standard. So two-stars seems fair - "Meh, I've experienced better" as being appropriate. 1) Not all their workers who visited my home did the proper work for paid tune-ups as verified by the lead team that Econo-Air sent out to resolve the issue for us. 2) The unit we were sold was improperly marked on our invoice as a size smaller and was 1-ton larger than we would ever have needed, so we overspent for our unit and while an efficient unit, it is underutilized. 3) After comparison, by and large, Econo-Air's fees are higher than equally skilled smaller firms. My recommendation remains to consider another provider and if you decide to stay with Econo-Air, you are doing so after spending the time to get counter bids. Sweat it out a few days and get multiple bids and check referrals, it might be worth thousands to do so. read more

Econo Air installed a gigantic awesome HVAC system in my 2 story house and I'm really happy with it. I've had them come out for routine maintenance and last visit, I let them up-sell me the UV system and maintenance items. That trip was pretty expensive, so today I paid a lot more attention. Here's what I found. My 8 year old AC system stopped working so I had them come out for a $69 diagnostic fee. They quoted me $764 to replace one part, a dual capacitor to get it running again. For the good of the system however, I needed to replace the Contactor as well for a total of $1354 for both. Then as an added bonus, I could elect to have the put in a booster to help ease the strain on the motor during startup. Oh yeah, and he would throw in a free acid wash of the condenser. That package would cost $2749 and would take a total of 2 hours. I just bought ALL of the parts online for $100. You can even go to Amazon and search for "Dual Capacitor 80 10" and you'll see it's $21. You can buy the Contactor for $49 That means his 2 hours labor cost for what amounts to a couple of screws and wires would have been........ let's see...... $1324.50 AN HOUR (including the $69 diagnosis fee). These prices are right out of the Econo Air service menu the tech showed me. At those prices, I'm going to force my son to switch from Med School and have him go to Devry to take Heating and AC. In the end, I just paid the $69 diagnostic fee and tipped the tech a $20 for his trouble. Don't get me wrong. I dont mind paying for knowledge, service and parts. He could have tripled marked up the parts, and charged me $200 in labor and I would have been happy. Charging friggin $1324.00 an hour for HVAC service? Exactly what is ECONO about that? read more

So our old air conditioning system (A/C) finally broke down and it was midsummer. It was in the 90's, I was 3 months pregnant and had morning sickness, so you know the heat just added to my misery. After meeting with one other A/C place, we invited Econo Air over to our home. Let me tell you...the sales pitch was FANTASTIC. Sales rep was courteous and knowledgeable. We even got a discount because we were listeners of the Christian radio station 95.5 FM "The Fish." So everything went smoothly...the paperwork, the sale, the installation. But after they left and we had cool air coming thru the ducts, we realized that they hadn't done something that they were slated to do, which was to create a whole new vent. This is when the TROUBLE started. We called multiple times and tried to schedule a technician to come out and install the vent. I think it literally took them several tries and several people to come out and "look" at it, just to tell us that they weren't equipped to do the work. So they kept sending technicians over, time after time. Mind you....my husband and I both work so one of us had to use vacation time to come home to supervise each time! Obviously, there was no communication between the customer service rep we were talking to on the phone and the person doing the work. HORRIBLE! Okay, fast forward a year and two months.... WE'RE STILL HAVING ECONO AIR DO WORK ON THE DANG THING! During the year and two months, it was this or that...always SOMETHING! The work that Econo Air did was not getting approval by our city inspector. THAT'S BAD. They're coming over TODAY to do some "final touches." Yeah, right! Anyway, DO NOT GO WITH ECONO AIR.....EVER! The part that gets me the most is that they advertise on a Christian radio station and pretend like they're such a trustworthy and reputable company. As you can see here, THEY'RE NOT. PLEASE LET YOUR FRIENDS KNOW NOT TO WASTE THEIR TIME OR THEIR PRECIOUS MONEY ON AN EXPENSIVE A/C SYSTEM JUST TO GET THE CRAPPY SERVICE THAT WE'VE GOTTEN. WE REGRET GOING WITH ECONO AIR. What a lousy company. The install when really well, but everything after the fact is a joke. Always trying to upsell you. Won't let you speak to the owner. Says owner won't bother to call you back unless you tell them everything. I asked whom I was leaving the message for Mike Richards the owner who is out in the field and she said Operator. I asked for her name and she refused to give it. Then I asked to be transferred to a supervisor. She transferred me to Marco and Marco wouldn't give me her name and wanted to solve my problem. Frustrated I hung up. Marco called back to argue with me and said that I would never hear from the owner that is why he hires managers. Incompetent ones at that! Not to mention they cut our roof and when the roofing company came to see what they had done they said that it was done wrong and would eventually leak. When I called about the problem they came over and said they fixed it after I specifically asked them to coordinate it with the roofers schedule so it can be done right. I guess we will be in court when the roof leaks and causes damage to your stuff. It wasn't fixed properly. What a mess! Can anyone recommend a good company that can service and change their filters. Wao - the negative reviews here are exactly along the line of what experienced. Again, should have looked it up first. I thought they were friendly and Wayne, the service guy who came out, seemed nice. They diagnosed the furnace I had needed to be replaced and spiced this diagnose up with some scare tactics - note, Econo Air CONNOT diagnose if it leaks CO (Carbonmonixide) , the gas company does this for free! Econo Air wrote a diagnoses that claimed "organic growth" on the coil and insisted that it could not be cleaned. Well, when he left, I looked into it and it took me maybe 15minutes to clean it. Also, I saw no growth as they "diagnosed" - only dust and hair. However they were very fast with a sales pitch for a new $4900 unit - wait, that is a $1200 unit installed for $2700. Let's say it'd take a day to swap the unit (and it would not!), this is more than I pay my lawyer. ... bad experience. In my opinion, this company is disreputable. They charged me over $10,000 for a heating/air condition system, and they said they warrantied the system. Since they sold me the system, they call every few months to service the unit and they try to charge me $100 for the exact filter I can get online for $22. Then, they blame the poor performance on the deteriorating filter and the "Poor air quality" in the house. Do yourself a favor and get your system somewhere else. read more

I have had their maintenance agreement for years and never have less than a $300 invoice each time they check my air conditioning or heating unit. This time they said it was a connector going bad on the air unit and would cost $300. They wouldn't allow me to keep the old one they replaced ( I wanted to check it out with another company) They said they were required to take it back to the office for recycling. I did take a picture of the part number and found it online for $32. Even with their lifetime parts guarantee I feel their prices are gauging since they always find a new part that needs replacing. After the maintenance agreement ends I will probably replace it with the HVAC company that I use for my rental property. read more

I would not recommend this company for I would these reasons: Called them originally because the A/C stopped working. Came to my house. Said the breaker and wiring were bad. Performed inspection while they were there. The A/C unit, Lennox, was good, no problems with the unit. $99.00 charge. Would return with a new circuit breaker and wiring - cost would be +/-$690.00. TWO plus weeks later scheduled a return date. Never showed up on the day they scheduled. 8-10 no show, 10-12 no show, 12-2 no show, 2-4 no show. A whole day wasted. Showed up the next day - two people (I believe one was in training) Finished installing the circuit breaker and wiring. Time: 2 1/2 hours(5 man hours). Still thought price was high but agreed to the $690. At the very end of the job, Israel came to me and said " by the way" the "dual cap" was going "bad". Remember: I had just paid $99.00for inspection of the unit. Price Another $ +/- 600.00!! Total $1,120.00. I said I want to see the item you replaced. It was a capacitor!! I've replaced pool motor capacitors(20 minutes, Material cost $50.00). I said to the person, "I want an Invoice for this extra work. This is the "invoice" he sent me via email: "Go back to run new wiring to ac unit//replaced dual cap// collected 1120 on check// 5 year warranty on dual cap". This certainly isn't an "invoice" . I expected a paper invoice like a normal company would send. I plan to talk to their "coo", the day after I said I would - see how he/she feels waiting a full additional day. Had a good/great installation experience of a Mid/high efficiency Lennox system. Twice a year service for 14 years with several nice techs suggesting additional unnecessary repairs that would have been an additional $4,000 + but somehow they worked around all but the last problem - $2k to replace a $70.00 TXV valve which is when I decided to find HVAC help elsewhere. Worse part is I met with the President who sold me the system but no one would call to discuss the details I asked for to make the last repair. If you ask me a company whose does service like this with no one accountable to the customer is not where you want to invest $5-10k for your next HVAC. read more

We've used Econo Air for several years... There have been countless charges....inferior filters, a uv light which we were told would eliminate mold in the air of our house and wouldn't need to be replaced for years (well it's been one year and they say we need a new one and should throw in a $1500 air purifier? But I thought the light did this?) Now it's the ducts... $2350 becouse our ducts are old and our air and furnace units are new. Why not tell us this when you're installing the equipment? And another duct test for $320? (third in 5 years) I understand maintenance and expenses, I'm a home owner, but put it ALL on the table, tell me WHAT I need the first time around and don't surprise me with little tests and gadgets after the fact... I don't trust you anymore Econo and can no longer give you my business... Does anyone have a recommendation for anonther Air and Heating company? read more
