Econo Air got paid(thousands) to do same work twice, only to find out few years later by another A/C comapny that they never done the work, because we never went in the attic to check their work. I didnt check Yelp before I called them and was stunned at the bad reviews!!! I had Econoair come out last tuesday to diagnose my furnace. The customer service was very nice and accommodating (Jessica) and the service man Wayne and the manager, Buck were very professional! They charge $69 to diagnose and they can put that $69 towards any service or product you have them install. Beware, I had a tech come to my house to "service" my AC. BIG MISTAKE! My 3 year old unit was running perfectly fine before they came. While here the tech told me I need to replace $1,500 worth of equipment on the unit. I refused as the materials are still under warranty and I didn't believe he was being truthful. He leaves and within an hour my AC is no longer working at all!! I call the office to alert them of the issue. The girl tells me sometimes equipment fails after service and they don't know why, but they would send the tech back the next day to see what the issue is. He comes back to tell me more stuff needs to be replaced in addition to what he said the day prior. I found this to be extremely suspicious and asked him to leave, told him I was not giving him a single penny. I call another company they arrive and within 10 minutes they ask if someone else had touched the unit, i told them what had taken place. The tech then tells me the wires were placed incorrectly to make the fan spin backwards, sucking in hot air, causing the unit to overheat and shut off. This seems like a predatory action to me. Making the unit not work, then telling me I needed to buy thousands of dollars to fix it! Do not use this company! read more

PRE-SALES I found Econo Air through Costco. It's worth pointing out that to be an exclusive supplier for heating and cooling for Costco means you have to do a lot of things right. I told them my electric bill was ridiculously high so I wanted to get a more efficient system. A representative came to my house, checked out my existing system and asked me how long I realistically planned on living there. He made it clear that if I was selling or moving out in a few years, it may not be worth upgrading, unless you take into account the appreciation of the house by installing the system. He wasn't pushy at all and really tried to understand my needs and objective. I wasn't planning on moving or selling soon and decided this was a big investment so I didn't want to go cheap and wanted it done right. I wanted them to replace all of our old ducting which were made of asbestos and decided to go with a new Lennox XC14 condenser unit, a Lennox furnace and an Economiser (whole house fan). There were two reasons I upgraded my system, 1. Safety (to get rid of my old asbestos ducting) and 2. To reduce my electric bill from usage of the AC. INSTALLATION Econo Air was very flexible with the date and time of my installation. I have a crazy schedule so this was very important to me. The day of, an army of about 10 very polite and skilled men showed up to install the system. They were very professional, stayed out of our way and did a stellar job of the installation and clean up. My attic was left CLEANER and in better condition than before the installation! They even installed a platform for me to easily walk on and change the filter! EXPERIENCE WITH THE SYSTEM I've waited one year to write this review. I had the system installed 12 months ago and my family and I absolutely love it! When I first agreed to purchase the system, I remember asking the guy, how much do you think this will reduce my electric bill. He said "probably by about half." I thought he was insane and exaggerating. The night of the installation, a warm night mind you, I turned on the Economiser (whole house fan) and I was shocked. As promised, this fan instantly started sucking in cold air from the outside of the house and bring it into the house to cool everything down. This was an evening where I normally would've turned on the AC but the Economiser (whole house fan) cooled the house just as fast as the AC and for pennies versus dollars! One month later, when I saw my electric bill, I realized the sales guy was pretty spot on with his estimate. By running the Economiser instead of the AC all month, my electric bill dropped drastically! To this day, I get compliments from friends and family who visit in the Summer on how cool and comfortable the house is. MAINTENANCE Today, one year after installation, I had our first routine maintenance done. The guy arrived on time as promised, thoroughly cleaned and inspected everything and was on his way in an hour and a half, all for less than a hundred bucks! I would highly recommend this company and am really baffled by the negative reviews, especially since one lady who wrote a negative review is from North Carolina and a guy who wrote a similar review is from San Francisco. The only thing the unit needed they didn't even catch it had a bad thermostat a $10. part. they scam you into thinking your getting an inspection and tune up, then give you a list of bad parts. that any one of would stop the units from functioning, but it works imagine that. then they tell you if you don't do the work your going to burn your house down and have you sign a waver that you understand the risk to further scare you. I gave them 1 star because I had to. Otherwise, they would get none. I had EconoAir install my furnace and A/C in 2005. All new duct work; life is good. The first time I had them come back to tune the A/C it was $600. They wanted to sell me a service plan and I made the guy stop at $600. Felt ripped off. Well, silly me. I called them again this year because I knew it was time for another tune up and a furnace filter. ($89 for the coupon tune up and $95 for the filter.) Then "H" works on the A/C. He said I could either fix it or let it blow up and get another unit. $881 later...I felt totally ripped off and can't believe I fell for it again. The invoice said it was blowing amps and would overheat and blow up. My A/C bill is never more than $110 for one month in the summer and I run it 24/7 during the hot months. Next time I will find another provider. We have another company at work and they would be a better choice. In fact he was here and said he is always looking for outside work to make some cash. His buddies do the same thing. And never rip people off, or they won't come back. He gave me his cell number. So to Econo Air, bye bye!! read more

Excellent service! I decided to get a second opinion after a local competitor tried to sell me a new unit essentially because it was low on freon. The technician, Chad, not only took the time to actually search for the freon leak, but was able to repair it at some sort of valve, recharge the system, and get my AC up and going within 2 hours. The price was low, considering the amount of work he did, but more importantly he saved me thousands of dollars by not having to replace it. It has been over a month since I first contacted them for a tankless water heater that has had quit working. They sent out a serviceman, looked at it made some calls and told me that they will replace it, because it is under warranty. Two weeks later I got a call that it was going to be $900 for removal and installation of a new tankless water heater. WTF? Then I questioned that, they told me that it was going to be $485 for the removal and installation (4-hours work), again WTF? We agreed on a $145 and hour for installation and removal and a week later I haven't gotten a call back to schedule a time. I called a contractor to come and take a look at it and told me that it's a 45 minute max job to remove and mount. This has been a real inconvenience. My daughter has missed 5 days of kinder-garden because she keeps getting sick from taking cold showers. I have been calling and calling and I don't get any follow ups. . UPDATE: The service men came earlier today (12/05/12) and installed the new tankless water heater that was in order. A tip for the customer service and manager. You should keep a log with notes of customers that call in with issues. Then follow up and or give updates. I give the customer service on star. I give the installers 5 stars. read more

Through Costco I bought an air conditioning system including installation by Econo Air of Brea, California. A couple of months ago the thermostat failed. The company replaced it. A few weeks ago, the system started making noises. A humming sound that comes and goes. At the time of installation I was promised a free checkup and filter replacement at the one-year anniversary of the installation. It was just one year and I called and the service man came out and checked the system and replaced the filter. He said the noises I hear are normal and there is nothing he can do. He said that the service call is $160. I told him that I was told that the first service was free. Unfortunately the offer of free service was verbal and I have no written proof, although my wife heard it also. I paid $160. I am really disappointed in their after sale support. I have lost confidence in this company and would not recommend it. read more

I'm a big fan! We had Econo Air come in nine years ago and install our heating and air system. We haven't done a thing since (shame on us) but had them out to do their 26 point inspection. Not only Mallory super helpful to book the appointment and see what specials they had running we could take advantage of she was very professional and curtious. George came out today and he was amazing! He wore booties on his shoes inside the house, was super clean, explained everything and did a great job with the inspection and helped us get the parts we needed to ensure they system doesn't break down during the extremely hot summer expected in front of us. We had a evaporator coil issue in our old system (~30 years) and Brandon came by to look at our system. We were initially given an arrival time frame of 3-6. Brandon updated us day of and was here by 5. While at our house Brandon explained to us very clearly the issue and took time to teach me more about ac than I ever bothered to learn. Although long term we will need to replace our aging unit, Brandon performed a quick fix, which is what we needed to get back up and running. We will definitely have econo air out when we are ready to replace our unit. read more

Buyer beware! One of Econo Air's tech's came to our house on 6-6-17 for our routine annual inspection. He was over 2 hours late to the changed appointment time after THEY had called to change our original appointment. After he was out in our backyard alone for awhile he called me over to show me what he described as oil present on the condenser coil, which he said indicated a leak. He told me they don't make my parts anymore and I basically need a whole new system. This sounded very fishy to me, so I didn't approve any repairs and just paid him the $59 inspection fee, even though he didn't even bother to go up into the attic like they usually do to check the rest of the system. He basically did nothing. The next day, the oil stain was gone and has never come back, even though we've been running the AC a lot during the summer! This tells me that he may have purposely sprayed some oil on it to con me into unnecessary, very expensive repairs. I suspect I may have been a victim of criminally deceptive business practices. We submitted a complaint to Econo Air on three separate occasions. Each time we received the standard "thank you for your feedback, we will get back to you soon" but here we are 3 1/2 months later and they still have never responded at all. The fact that they haven't responded tells me that they don't find the tech's behavior surprising or suspicious. This is just how they routinely conduct their "business". A couple of weeks ago our air conditioning stopped working so we hired an independent repairman since we no longer trust Econo Air's honesty. He did a full inspection and found no leaks whatsoever. The problem was simply a bad pump and thermostat and that the condenser coil was very dirty. He was shocked the Econo Air guy didn't even bother to clean the condenser coil during his so called tune-up inspection. Total cost for repairs $450 instead of the $7,000 or more the tech at Econo Air tried to con us into. read more

Used Econo-Air because they are part of Costco choices. I had Dan come out and give my wife and I an estimate. Dan was great, very easy to talk to and no pressure to buy. This was a big purchase for us, more than 13,500.00 dollars.....Full system replacement furnace, air, ductwork, asbestos abatement, the works. I never got another estimate. This team arrived at 7:15 am, they were early and it was on from that point. At 7:15 pm the system was done, twelve hours from start to finish and I had a whole new system.....The guys were great, polite,clean and the system works great..........Not used to cold air here, our electric bill in the summer for years has been $$$$600.00 per month. The new unit is a beast...a Lennox and power to spare. They did a great job and they have too, because the city and the state are coming to inspect both the freon and the ducts to check for lost air to the attic. I received a few quotes from different companies, which went as high as $36K, but through Costco I was able to get a brand new Lennox system, duct work, asbestos removal, and zoning for an incredibly reasonable estimate. The team that came was extremely professional and the entire system was replaced within two days. Recently, we've had AC issues with another property we own in Riverside and Econo Air has been prompt, diligent, and professional. I hesitate to write this review, because I do not like to give bad ones. I tend to ignore bad companies and just never use them or go back. But, because of the cost involved, I feel it is my civic duty to inform. I do not work no ever have for any competing company, and I am a former customer who was scammed. Frist off most Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC companies stated my house, a small craftsman bungalow, is not fitted for a HAVAC system. The two companies said they could and Econo Air gave a much lower quote, $3 k less. So, we jumped on it. Our house bakes in the summer and freezes in the winter and we had a special needs toddler at the time and had to get it or move. The installing went OK, they did crack a lot of the plaster, but it was an easy fix, and in the bathroom, they cut into the wall and is an eye sore, not an easy fix. But, it never worked! It just blows warm stale air. I called right away numerous times, eventually they would come out, and did so many times, always with someone different with no knowledge of our history, and say I need to upgrade to a newer system (I just bought it from you), then they would say I need this part or another like a TVX or computer controller, (and, I just bought it, what about the warranty, it never worked). Then, this went on for 5 years. We were stuck, can't afford to have another company come out or pay for the extortion they were usurping on us. It was like dealing with the MOB. When I called and complained in a nice way, I get hung up on and even cussed at. After 5 years of this I gave an ultimatum, (it took me long because I am overseas a lot and was diagnosed with MS in this period), fix it or I stop payments and report you to the BBB. They stopped sending me billing, and never heard from them again. Update: Then a year ago my neighbor's house burned down and look out our attic and a whole north side. The Insurance adjuster and the repair crews (Attic Care) noticed that the system was never installed right and many major needed parts and electrical lines were never installed. The HAVAC was an older refurbished unit (confirmed when I called the manufacture, they had no record of our unit or address or name), not the top CIR high-efficiency Lennox system we paid for, why there was no warranty. So, I was able to have another Company, Alaska Air and Metropolitan Heating and Air redo our system, we even had to replace the ducts, which were not installed right, all the lines the HAVAC, and those parts they say I needed, they were never installed, there was even, no freon, which every year we pay for in the maintenance. We suffered with a special needs child needlessly for five years (we went to the mall or library a lot to get out of the house), this Econo Air is a scam, stay far away. The only good thing was the Hepa Filter, when I run the system, it takes all of the dust and pollen out, with is great for my asthma. I complained to a local TV station a few years ago and the radio stations like KNIX. KFWB and KKLA that I heard about them by their ads. They received numerous other complaints and removed them from the air. Try to sell you something that does not need fixing. They wanted $1500 to change my filter air line. Had second opinion from a well established company call D&D refrigeration. They even found some bolts that needed tightened for the Freon. This air Conditioner is the top of the Line Lenox only Six years old, Always had preventive maintenance on it but I felt several times they would try to up-sell me on something is wrong. I called customer service which they were very nice, but told them I wanted the service manager to call me. He never did and I had problems before that manager would not call back. I have faithfully kept up service on my Econo Air. I like the fact that any service person is knowledgeable, polite, informative, and a problem solver. Today (2/23/2016) Steve came and checked my system. I was getting "dust" residue and I knew something must be wrong. The woman who who set up the appointment was most considerate. Steve came right on time and performed an inspection that showed that "air scrubber" cell was worn down. It was replaced. Since I have used the Econo Mizer and Air Scrubber system I rarely have to deep clean surfaces in my home. I have several animals and my home does not smell like it. This is a wonderful A/C and heating system that helps me keep my home that way I want it. Keeping my home air environment fresh, filtered, and comfortable is a priority to me. Good day on this hot humid July afternoon. I called Econo Air for my elderly in laws. Their AC system just wasn't cooling the house at all. My father in law was prepared to fork out some $$$ on a new system. Mike R came out to the house for an inspection and estimate. He was very clear that the system was old, and in need of repair and/or replacement. He also told us that they could do a service and coolant addition that would help out greatly. We decided to go that route. They had a technician out right away. The system was almost void of all coolant. After they added coolant, cleaned the system, it worked pretty darn good. Costco should be ashamed to allow Econo Air to use its marketing support, and you the buyer beware. Hey, I got no reason to not want a company to make a profit, but please read below. I know the management will answer this with a referral to another site that just has glowing (unbelievable?) referrals but with the unconceivable extra money they are making on every sale I bet he is a $100,000+ a year blogger working full-time scrubbing the web clean of post like this. I have 3 quotes in hand for a 4 ton including a matching heater, all from 3 experienced and local A/C companies. Econo Air and one other are "Costco" approved, and another that is not Costco related. All three are LENNOX dealers, all three are quoting the exact same system. Econo Air: $27,490 discounted down to $15,995 (written proposal) The other two written proposals, also from LENNOX dealers, were within a few hundred dollars of each other at $8,000! Yes there were some minor differences in the proposals, but NOT anything that a few hundred dollars would cover. I expect that both of the $8,000 proposals are still making a profit. Econo Air's profit of $8,000 ABOVE that "normal" profit is neither fair nor warranted. Yes it is a free market to be greedy in, but I feel very badly for the consumer who like I put trust in the Costco endorsement and does not get second quote or check yelp. Hey the guy who came out was very nice and I wanted to sign right then, but he was not an extra $8,000 nice. I went with the other Costco affiliated company and am happy to report after several months that the A/C and heat have been working great.
