This motel was the absolute worst overnight stay that I have ever had. Filthy dirty bathroom. We only used sink to brush our teeth. Ceiling Paint peeling above tub/shower area. Toilet wobbled if you sat on it, not completely bolted down to floor. We used across the street wawa bathroom in morning. Skipped showers, complained to front desk and had to wait for Manager call back next day. They offered 20% back for our problematic stay!!! This motel should not be open for business. There are no words to fully describe how disgusting this place was. I can't believe such an establishment is still open because it's a health hazard. Just to give you an idea of why you should not stay here, consider these things: the hot & cold water was backwards, it looked like a toddler painted the place, the carpet probably contained several unknown species, the smell was horribly overwhelming, my pillow looked like it had a bloodstain - I could go on and on about the extremely pathetic quality and condition this place was in... When attempting to cut our visit 1 day short, the manager would not issue a refund as that is their policy. During our complaints about our terrible experience he stated that's why there are no refunds. It was almost like he was taunting us because he kept repeating "what are you going to do about it." Luckily we outsmarted him and were able to get our money back for both nights by contacting our credit card company. The credit card company knew about the motel because of the many complaints they received so it was fortunately a seamless process to get a refund. ROACHES & BED BUGS! Rented three rooms for our entire family to stay the weekend on father's day weekend . All THREE rooms were infested with roaches and bed bugs !!!! If I could give this place no stars I would, and that's being generous. This place is absolutely disgusting! My boyfriends family flew over from England for a week and we needed some place close to Ocean City without spending a fortune. The first room they stayed in has clearly never been cleaned. The floor was covered in dirt and dust, the bathroom had no toilet paper and the light didn't work. The room was filled with flies and stunk of smoke even tho it was a non-smoking room. After his family stayed the first night we complained to the manager and he moved them to a different room. The second room was even worse, the sheets were covered in stains, the room still smelled of smoke(and again it was a non-smoking room) AND the room was filled with dead bedbugs!! After realizing the infestation of bugs we complained and asked for our money back. The hotel owner threatened to call the cops on myself and my boyfriend because we asked for a full refund when we didn't receive one, called us both children and continually cut us off when we calmly asked for our money. He also blamed us for their bug problem and constantly started that "it's an epidemic". To say the least, NEVER STAY HERE!! Save yourself the time, hassle, and risk and go somewhere else. EDIT: after looking back at photos posted on the website we booked through we realized that the pictures the business uploaded and the rooms we saw were completely different and possibly pictures the business took from another hotel. read more

When I think to myself "Gee, I think I'd like to go to one of those skeezy motels where crack heads are swimming in the pool, the rooms have probably been a murder or crime scene and I could potentially be next" then this is where I'd wanna stay. HOWEVER, if you're not looking to stay in a bed that possibly hasn't been laundered, where mold is all over your shower curtain or where the bath rug is actually a rug and not a piece of paper... So I didn't expect much of a place called the economy motel but this place is even lower than my expectations. The pool was nice and that's about it. Rooms are dirty and look like they are under construction. Rooms are damp and musty. Thankfully we brought our own sheets to put over the ones on the bed. Bathrooms are so small you can barely move in them but also filthy and full of mold. And look under construction. They have no maid service and towels didn't even cover my small body. Shower was hot. OMG NEVER AGAIN-We booked a suite from Booking.com. Pics on site were not even close to what we booked. It was one room with a stove and microwave-no sink to do dishes-no pots -plates etc, Curtains were falling off windows. Room very outdated. Now here is the worst part. We checked in at 2:30 and were told room would not be ready for a half hour. We go park in room and told they are boiling 75 eggs for the breakfast they have every day, The entire room smelled like eggs. Talked to manager about room not being a suite and he said they did not have one when i booked a suite. Called hotel 3 days before and asked if it had a reg frig and was told yes-it was a mini frig-asked if it had pots and pans and was told yes -it did not!! Pool is not heated!!!! Many people live at hotel and are not very nice people. Cops were called on one lady drunk Sat night that was screaming at cars riding by. Cleaning crew chased all day by management and must say cleaning crew is good. They did a awesome job cleaning site outside but never let them in room until we left. We had a speaker at pool at 4pm and were told we were not allowed to have it because people living at hotel were sleeping and complaining. Asked to use phone to play music and told it was not allowed. We DID NOT TURN off until cleaning crew came over and asked nice. Management was not nice at all. Kids were at pool from rooms dancing and having a blast and that was not allowed. REALLY!!!!! Some of the people that live at this hotel are not good and if u have kids stay away. They gave us keys that did not open hotel room for check in and cleaning guy had to point that out to management as well. The pics on site are not even CLOSE t anything in this place. I tried to get a other hotel in area the next day but all were booked otherwise we would have left. Took grandchild here and daughter for a vacation and the hotel just is not what is cracked up to be. It is not what i paid for. We brought food and had to take the loss on all of it because we could not cook. The one good thing was we gave it to cleaning crew, They are the only people that deserve anything at this hotel period. A woman across from us brought 4 grandkids and homemade meals she cooked for kids so she would not have to spend money and had to throw it all out because she could not cook with no pans. We were only looking for a place that was clean to sleep and shower in, seeing we would spend our time at our families beach house. Even with my low expectations I would say this was horrible. My NON smoking room reeked of SMOKE. The smell was so strong it was nauseating. Im pregnant with 2 toddlers so this was a major no go. Front desk was rude from the start. The man kept referring to me as "Woman" when he spoke and said " I cant control what other people do in these rooms." They sent the maintenance guy over to spray lysol. He came to my door smoking a cigarette. Obviously this fixed nothing. I requested a new room and was told "tomorrow" , though the vacancy sign was up. When I returned to my room for the night, there was NO room service- beds NOT made- NO clean towels- NOTHING touched, the tube stopper was BROKE, and the tv wound NOT work. When I picked up the phone to call them about it, what do you know? That was BROKEN too!!!!! The night shift front desk guy said, " what do you want me to do about it? I just work here" He handed me two sets of sheets and towels to do it all myself. In the morning i went to tell them about the night before. It was the same guy who called me woman. He said hes just the front desk guy. He raised his voice at me telling me these things are not true and i must have had my DND sign up. But guess what again?! I DIDNT have a sign to hang if i wanted. The maintenance man told me he doesnt understand English well and does not like women. Said it was cultural thing. I told him I wanted to speak to the supervisor or owner. The maintenance man laughed and said it was the guy claiming to only be "just" front desk. There is zero accountability here and no one cares. Later that day my husband finally arrived and went to the office to address it. He referred to me again to my husband as "the woman" and said he'll get the maid service for the day. There was no apology, room change, or anything. Before we left I informed him I would be writing this negative review and he said " I dont care" waving his hands like he was shewing an animal away. We stayed for 4 nights and nothing was fixed the whole time. I passed the maintenance man several times also throughout our stay. I think his only job was to walk around smoking cigarettes. Actually, I'm not really staying over. I made it until about 11:20pm then I had to get the heck out. I wish I did a better inspection of the room before I dropped off some belongings and went to the beach. Smelly, hot, run-down and mosquito ridden... overall the nastiest place I've ever booked. First I was told I would be charged for my service dog since the manager decided PTSD "doesn't count" meanwhile my dog is an actual trained service dog that I have all my paperwork on not a therapy dog. let this illegal discriminatory act go because I was exhausted. I asked if they had any toiletries I could buy since I forgot my conditioner and was told " what else do you think we are going to give you for 49.99 a night. I explained I'd happily buy it I. Except it's free to stay in prison. I will be sleeping in my truck tomorrow night instead of staying here again. seriously they could offer me a free night here and I'd say no thanks I'd prefer to buy a ripped sleeping bag at the goodwill and sleep in an ally way behind a Chinese food restaurant on that pile of cardboard boxes that are stacked behind every Chinese food spot. We travel with our children and service animal 2-3 times per year. I have stayed in 2-5 star hotels In all of my 15yrs in any place whether OCNJ or other places this place was the worst.I booking this stay was because I received an offer on hotels.com for this particular hotel and week and it seemed too good to pass up so You know what they say if it seems too good to be true it is.It was in this case.I only review for 2 reasons.The impression that a place and its staff left on me and the feeling that others should know how wonderful or not so wonderful it was. I'll cover the basics first which if you read the other reviews you can read more about the rooms like I should have done more in depth before booking.Hindsight is 20/20.Rooms are outdated but to me that is most motels that are budget and privately owned. And not a big deal to me if the colors and styles are outdated as long as its well maintained.So I am not going to fault a place for not having a modern look.However the wooden floors which are newish have dips like they are rotting out underneath.They were dusty and corners and behind bed look rarely touched.Because I was stuck there for a week with no other hotels around and already paid,I dealt with it and cleaned it myself. Im pretty sure it was left cleaner 5 days later when I checked out than it was when we arrived.I always bring my own linens and Lysol and a few cleaning items jic so I used them.I did not see any bugs or bed bugs like some have reviewed (I wouldn't have stayed) BUT... Mattresses are old springs pop creek/ slope down.My cleaning and own air freshener and ability to air it out by opening the window made it smell better but it def did smell a little when we first got there. Air worked fine.Bathroom was semi updated.Good pressure and hot water but no grip to the bottom so they were very slippery.Could have used hooks or towel racks to hang wet stuff up.Online it says coffee maker and hairdryer in room and we did not have those. Also advertises heated pool and the pool was really cold.I spent all of 5 mins in it for the week and others also found the temp of it uncomfortable for what is to be a heated pool. It was more than just a little cold.(like ice)Kids don't care as much about a cold pool but only 1 of my 3 children were able to swim and not let it bother them. It was 2 cold for the other 2 as well. The service received there all week came from 2 people. Tim who is the guy who does all the maintenance/care of the property like the pool etc. is awesome. He is friendly and spends his entire day and night making sure the guests are happy. He makes sure you have towels if you need them, trash is always emptied, maintains the pool well and even lets everyone sit around the pool at night and even swim if they want until 11pm which is nice. He gets what it means to be in an industry based on customer service and makes it a point to give good customer service. So this review has zero to do with him as I feel he is the only one who belongs working in any industry that is based on customer service.My experience with Bob-the manager (possibly the owner?)first of all my check in day was Monday with the ability to cancel for free up until the Saturday before. That is when my card should have been charged for the first night. Well the one and only thing he is eager about is charges. He charged my card on Thursday 4 days before the stay and 48 hours before free cancellation.Annoying but whatever I was coming so I didn't fuss.When I made my reservation I stated that I was bringing one small service dog.I called to verify a week before just in case they needed anything to make sure it was a certain room for a person with a dog etc. and everything seemed to be in place to arrive.At check in I was told I had to pay $20 per day pet fee.I explained that the dog was a service animal and he got annoyed and told me to provide him with paperwork.I explained that I called ahead and have nothing because on the phone I was told it was fine, and then I reminded him that technically it is against the law and the ADA to ask for papers, or ask anything about a service dog.This is the law and not my own opinion.He told me he knew/didn't care about the law I could sue him if I want.I got my mom to text me registration paper showed him he said fine but in the meantime he had already still charged my card the pet fee.He credited it but now it was going to take 5-7 days to come back to me.On vacation with 3 kids and now 80 bucks short of my budget I was out that money til after it was over all for a man who doesn't care about laws/disabilities.Pnc told me he could call merchant line and they would give it back with no wait he refused and told me he don't have time for me even though I told him I really needed it for the week and my kids. My family and I stay here every year we generally get 3-4 rooms and we always enjoy our stay greatly .I was nervous when we first starting going here because it had really bad reviews but money was tight that year and we really wanted a beach weekend and it was all we could afford so we walked into it expecting it to be BAD and guess what? It wasnt ..its not a 5 star top of the line brand now hotel its a little outdated but thats fine its a older building but you can tell the owners are trying there best to update as much as they can .Last year we got there and they replaced all the carpeting with wood floors which made a HUGE diffance in quality in the rooms but i work for a campground and i know updates are NOT cheap and they take time which i think people need to remember there charging very affordable rates so there not making millions and millions of dollars like big corpate hotels .Speaking of the owners id read some reviews saying there super rude but all of the staff there has always been super friendly to all of us .I have NEVER seen bugs in any of the rooms there like some reviewers has stated .So yeah all and all if your looking for just a motel without alot of frills this place is awesome were getting ready to head back there again in June of our year trip there and honestly the only thing id wish they would really change is i wish the pool was open later but thats it i cant wait to stay here again! read more

Let's start by saying we rented the "luxury" 2 bedroom suite. I'm assuming the most expensive room they rent. What a dump!! I really wish I was a linguist so I could truly do this review justice. Needless to say, the room was truly spacious but all that means is there is more space to be dirty and nasty. There are zero updates (in probably 30yrs) and there was nothing appealing about the room. You walk up a flight of stairs (that are more dangerous than the bugs in the room) to enter through an actual closet door to enter the suite. You initially think "wow this is big for a motel room", then you realize that you may very well be staying in the night managers bungalow while he is out of town. Bathroom is horrible from the 70's and couldn't be any more unkept. The kitchen is about useless unless you feel like keeping your food in a dirty, cockroach infested waste of space. Everything in this room is filthy and clearly doesn't get used by any renters because of the nastiness that lurkes in every corner. There were no signs of bedbugs that I could see, and I am praying my eyes didn't deceive me, although each night as I laid in the bed I felt like there was something crawling on me. If your actually starving enough to venture down for the continental breakfast in the morning you get a great view of the staffs bed which is five feet from the food (if you call it that) that they serve. Considering the suite is right above this space....I can only assume that is where the infestation of cockroaches are living. And if you say to yourself "let me get the manager", he will come up to your room and bring a bottle of cockroach killer and sprinkle it on the floor and tell you "not to worry they can't get through this barrier" So again if your desperate and starving, good luck with that one. Finally if you do decide to pay to stay in a fine establishment like this....DONT!! Sleep in your car you will have a better nights sleep. Dirty, nasty, smelly, infested, these are not something anyone should pay for. And the one star rating is cause the water in the shower was hot and the pool was clean. read more

Don't do it... It really is a shame that they take so little pride in their business. Disgusting is the first word to explain it. When I walked in my room it smelled of smoke. There was mold all over the bathroom walls which is clearly a health hazard, when you open the closet they were so generous as to leave us three rusty wire hangers and a whole in the ceiling to compliment. You can clearly see that families live here which I understand the struggle but to allow them to hang their dirty clothes on a chair out front is a bit much. You would think with the ridiculous amount of money they charge people to stay here they would upgrade the rooms instead I approached the owner about a refund as he stepped out of his Lexus... I have no words for this disgusting dump. I stayed on a Friday night with two friends for 200 dollars (complete rip-off). The pictures on the motel website must be from another hotel because the rooms looked nothing like that. When we first arrived, we were harassed by the manager who thought we were "pool hopping". The sign on the gate to the pool said "no open sores or wounds" which should've been our first clue to leave. The room stunk like cigarettes and dead animals. The carpet looked like someone swept all the dirt into a pile and left it there. There were no fitted sheets on the bed. There was a constant banging coming from above - although there is no second floor. I literally was scared for my safety while staying at this trash pit. Not to mention the fact that I was terrified of bed bugs crawling all over me at night. The bath "mat" was a piece of paper with a flower on it. The air conditioner sounded like a truck revving it's engine. I can't even believe this is a legal establishment to sleep. We found brown stains on the sheets and pillow cases. I'm pretty sure the "maid" was the owners little sister. The complimentary continental breakfast is a counter in the main office with a jug of old orange juice and stale white bread under a lid. Where do I begin? My family and I stayed from Monday through Friday in August. I woke up Tuesday morning with what I thought was mosquito bites on my chin. My chin then swelled to the size of a golf ball. Still thinking it was the plethora of mosquitoes that are in the apartment yes we rented the apartment room 134. Walking around with a golf ball size chin that itched and burned all day wasn't that enough. My three kids go to bed Tuesday night only to wake up Wednesday morning covered in bites. That we later found out were bed bugs. I went to the office and I complained and the gentleman at the office handed me bug spray and told me to spray the room. When I looked at him like he had five heads he said I'll do it for you ma'am. He then proceeded to tell me that it must have been the people who stayed there before me that brought them because they did not have a problem with bed bugs. And that he was going to have our room taking care of by maintenance. They came in the room they stripped the beds they took the old disgusting couch out that was in there. They gave us all new sheets blankets everything and said to us and guarantee to us the problem has been solved. That night I go in the room and crawling away from my youngest daughter was a bedbug that had just recently ate. Now she has a swollen face because it bit her on her forehead. I then pulled the sheet back on the second bed that was in the room to find a bed bug walking away. I collected the bedbugs and took them right to the office. I wind up having to go to CVS to buy my own bug spray and also Benadryl and anti-itch cream for my children. Which then ran me about $60. Went back to the office to tell them that I just spent $60 in CVS on bug spray and itch cream for my kids and all he could offer me was $100 refund on a $900 room. Would I recommend staying here hell no run run run. Oh and it gets better. When we got home we took everything to the laundromat cleaned everything on high heat. Except for my daughters purse which she took straight to her room can you guess what came home with us you got it a freaking bed bug. Disgusting. Smelled. Afraid of bed bugs. Wouldnt step foot in shower. NO HOT WATER. Killed two bugs the first day and then didnt stay second day. Owner said that this is economy and what should I expect!!?? Pool ok but went to step down steps and railing came out. read more

This place IS dangerous! The worst and filthiest place I have ever stayed. All the reviews so far are accurate. We were afraid to touch anything it was so skeevy. People screaming and fighting in the parking lot at 3 am, apparent drug deals going on in another room, burned bedspread, shower couldn't have been cleaned in a year. No blankets on the bed (in February-just that creepy polyester comforter that you know never gets washed), freezing cold room, door lock was the same as in a TJMaxx dressing room. free breakfast really was a few pieces of white bread on a plate in the lobby!
