They seem to pride themselves more on their relentless pursuit of new customers than on actually delivering quality pest removal services to their existing ones. Let's talk about their salespeople first: they're the kind that give sales professionals a bad name. Their tactics are more akin to those of pushy street vendors rather than representatives of a reputed company. It's one thing to be enthusiastic about what you're selling; it's another thing entirely to bulldoze your potential customer with an avalanche of hard sells and refusal to take 'no' for an answer. They've seemingly mastered the latter. Now, onto the service--or should I say, the laughable six minutes it took to "treat" the exterior of my 3,000 square foot home. Yes, you read that right: six minutes. I've seen snails move more deliberately and thoroughly than their technicians did around my property. Considering the size of my home, it's astonishingly absurd to believe that any credible job could be accomplished in that short a time frame. Were they merely giving the illusion of service while making a quick escape? It certainly seems that way. And let's not forget the pièce de résistance of EcoShield's service: the Kafkaesque ordeal that is trying to cancel their membership. One would think they're attempting to exit a cult rather than a service agreement with the number of hoops they make you jump through. An endless maze of phone transfers, elusive customer service representatives, and mysteriously lost cancellation requests are just a few of the hurdles you'll encounter. So here's the deal. The way these folks stay in business is door to door cold sales. They send a nice, slick, fast talking person to your door who quickly breezes over their service and even quicker, tells you select portions of their contract. If your response is negative, they will bring up black widows, brown recluse, ticks, fire ants, termites or whatever named pest that they see causes a fearful response and then dials in on that fear and applies great pressure to sign their contract NOW. When a slick, fast talking salesperson is standing in front of you playing on your fears, most people will not take the time to google reviews on this company. If potential customers did read typical reviews on this company, no one in their right mind would sign their "contract". EcoShield would be out of business within a year... once all their contracts lapsed, if they used standard advertising. After reading through quite a few negative reviews and then reading the EcoShields responses, WOW! Who is the poor clown (or clowns) these folks employ to respond to hundreds after hundreds (literally) of horrible reviews? Seems to be the trend at EcoShield, lots of slick, fast talking (writing in this case) folks employed. After being unsatisfied by my experiences with a company who claims a 100% satisfaction guarantee, I cancelled my service today. $189.00 for 15 minutes of labor to spray $5.00 worth of product just doesn't make sense. Especially when the pests never seemed to diminish inside or outside the house. Also, scheduling for technicians to show up after 4:00 pm was weirdly a problem... almost as though they didn't want me to be home during their applications. Though I was told specifically during my initial sales pitch that I could cancel with zero penalties any time after the 2nd service call I was charged a $150.00 fee. Again, spoke to 2 customer service reps who were slick, fast talking folks. These "customer service representatives" couldn't seem to understand that if you have a 100% satisfaction guarantee but the customer is still unsatisfied, then the company has failed to meet their end of their "contract", ultimately rendering the agreement failed. However they still felt compelled to hold me to my (apparent) end of the "contract". I've never left a review for anything in my life but I decided it was required this time in hopes that maybe someone will take the time to read these hundreds of warnings to stay away from the company. The service was very ineffective. We saw more mice after they set one black box in the front yard. We never saw them again and were charged for two months. ($360). They also charged us a $150 cancellation fee that was not communicated to us on the original sales pitch. I was left on endless hold trying to speak to a supervisor. We just cancelled our Ecoshield service because my husband is able to do what we need for pest control. However, it took two days of phone calls and several emails with multiple EcoShield Reps to finally get them to cancel. We thought our contract was "cancel anytime" but it was for 3 years. (Who signs up for 3 years of service when you have no idea whether you will be happy with the service?!). I also learned from a neighbor that the EcoShield Salesperson in our neighborhood this past summer told them that we have an infestation, which is not true. Apparently we are not the only customers who are unhappy with EcoShield as there is now a class action lawsuit: " In June 2025, Gianaris Trial Lawyers filed a national class action lawsuit against EcoShield Pest Solutions and its affiliated companies. The lawsuit centers around EcoShield's use of misleading sales tactics, particularly the promotion of fake "limited-time discounts" that are later weaponized as unauthorized cancellation fees. According to the complaint, consumers were lured into signing contracts via tablet devices, often shown only a signature field, and never given a meaningful opportunity to review the full contract." I did sign the contract after being promised web removal from my basement. when the technician came he could not have been nicer but could not preform the web removal as promised. Scammers. All of the good reviews are fake. They will come to your house and lie to your face and tell you your neighbor(s) used them for service. They will then go to the next house and lie to them telling them you hired them. This is a fact and it happened to me. They lied to ALL of my neighbors telling them I hired them when all I did is tell them to leave my property. Also, all of the rabbits and squirrels are mysteriously dying close to us. Just don't do it. I signed up because of their environmentally safe products but that is ALL they have going for them. Their customer service is way below par. Lots of trouble booking/confirming services. In addition to this - I had to move early for an emergency. The "kind" people at EcoShield said they would waive the early termination fee. I thought to myself 'wow, that's so nice of them!'. I would have totally paid for it but figured 'well, that's money saved'. A few weeks later, I kept getting calls from them looking to collect. I spoke to someone on the phone and they said 'just send the listing of your house as proof of move'. Sent it. Kept getting calls. Talked to someone else who said 'oops, we will waive it. Sorry about that!' 45 days later, my credit score drops and I get an email from them saying I'm 45 days past due. TWICE they said they were removing the fee that shouldn't have been there in the first place. Kept getting calls, kept getting emails. Now reading that they outsource all of their customer service makes a lot of sense to me. They had the good grace to finally waive the fee. Honestly, I would have happily paid it when I first canceled the service because I was displeased with them anyways. My biggest concern was wasps and I believed their endler bugs Bryson was our sales man, I would say he's our rep. But no he's a salesman threw and threw. Since the more then $400 in treatment in this economy, I've had more bugs then ever before ants coming in the house from outside an earwig I believe coming from the same area. When I had my initial and follow up treatment completed they did a very thorough job, in fact so thorough there were still Cobb webs around my window and soffit that I took down. Straight up scam. Truly awful experience working with ecoshield. Techs arrived late, uninformed, and sometimes high. We had a TERRIBLE and Manipulative experience involving rodents. We were first told they couldn't get a tech into our home to go look in the attic for rodents. Then, they swiftly changed their mind and arrived. The tech went into the attic and apparently took a bunch of pictures that he showed my husband. Said there were rodent droppings everywhere (on the far side where it's harder for us to get to) and that we needed to get rid of all our insulation and put in new insulation. He came "prepared" with a book of pricing for insulation. Why an exterminator feels he can do insulation work I don't know. Then he left WITHOUT SETTING ANY TRAPS! We went up into the attic later and so NO EVIDENCE of rodents or their droppings as shown on the tech's phone. We were lied to or at best manipulated. They wanted us to spend thousands on work we didn't need, and did NOTHING to set traps or bate around the home. We later had a different service provider over that confirmed we did NOT have a rodent problem in the attic and there were no droppings. This is deceitful, amoral, and not a way to run a business. When we reported this to ECOshield they didn't even apologize, let alone release us from our contract or try to make it right. Every time they arrived for our yellow jacket problem, they had no notes as to where the problem was, how it it was treated the last time, etc. THey were never prepared to deal with the problems and every issues to many many attempts to mitigate Scheduling is poor. They do not give you notice when they come and often don't get inside the home because it isn't properly scheduled. Techs are uninformed and a few times have come into my home under the influence - with small children this felt dangerous, uncomfortable, and unprofessional. read more

If you had asked me when I first signed up for the services at EcoShield, I would have highly recommended their service. We had an amazing sales rep who was and has been extremely helpful when I have questions or need help. Unfortunately, he is not also responsible for my services in the area where I live. Since we started the treatments I have had to call them back after each treatment for issues that did not get resolved. Most recently we discovered a huge ant infestation only weeks after the last service and I have been trying relentlessly to get someone to come back only to be told they have nothing available for the next month. I ended up having to bring in another service after the latest rep was too bothered to try to find me something sooner on a Friday. Clearly the ant infestation of a customer was not a priority and was cutting into their valuable weekend time off, since she said they can't look into it until next week. I fully expect to wait days again to hear from them. I've already been passed between three different representatives and see no end in sight. I will be cancelling my services and shopping for a new pest control service right away. I only wish I had looked at the reviews of this company before signing up and that is on me. One day I was unfortunate enough to have an Ecoshield salesman come bother my family as we were working in the front yard. We stepped to the side near my front door (right in front of my no soliciation sign) and he started his sales pitch. We happened to have a mouse problem happening in our attic, and I asked the salesman if they could take care of it. He told me that signing up for a membership included additional free services, and that they could take care of a mouse during the first appointment after initial inspection. After waiting for a few days, the technician showed up. I was at work, so my wife showed him how to access the attic. He ended up telling her that he "had no reason to go up there". She informed him about the mouse treatment that we signed up for, and he seemed to have no idea about it. He ended up saying "You didn't provide me a ladder, so I am not going up there". He was very rude and my wife was uncomfortable continuing the discussion, so she went inside. After arguing with the local office, they ended up not willing to do anything for 6 weeks until the 2nd appointment. After being charged another $199, the new technician did absolutely nothing in the attic! They tried to schedule a third appointment to come look at it (almost 2 months past the original discussion at this point). I finally had enough today and called to cancel, and they were unwilling to refund a single dollar or take anything off the $250 dollar cancellation fee (looks like they raised it by 50 bucks in 2024!). I've worked with many other home service providers in the area and NEVER seen anyone with an insane cancellation fee like this. Maybe if your salesman stopped lying to people and you actually provided a useful service, people would stop cancelling! read more

Not only is this so called business unethical, their workers are lazy(talk on the phone while attempting to spray), they almost killed my dog by leaving my gate open, they took zero responsibility for their mistake, I heard back from no one for an apology.. After 12 calls to 12 different people a manager finally told me I'd have to pay one more service call with a 50.00 reduction(their way of apologizing). Then I'd never hear from them again. Was customer for about 3 years then suddenly they started only doing 1/4 of my yard after I fenced in a small portion for my dogs. Before they were doing the whole yard. When I called they said that's all I'm paying for. Yeah, because that was the deal! In exchange for agreeing to both recurring pest and mosquito treatments with the field salesman, I'd get a my entire yard sprayed for the cost of a 1/4 acre. I've had EcoShield for 2+ years. I have an ant issue that I called for a follow up appointment. They could not get to me for another week and a half. At the follow up appt, the tech did not know why they were there, but applied the same treatment as the regular appt to try to resolve the issue. When I called again because the issue is still not resolved, they said they can't help me until another 2+weeks out. I requested a call back from a manager, they did not call. I called back the next day, got the same rhetoric and script about how they want to help me but can't. I told them that if this is an issue they have failed to resolve, I should jump the line. There was no attempt to resolve. I requested to cancel. Was transferred to a 'solutions expert' who offered me a price discount and basically told me only he had the authority to tell the tech to specifically target the issue about which I called (ants) and that they would address it at our next normal visit (for which I would still be charged. I told him that was not a solution, that he was basically telling me they didn't do their job at the last visit and they want to charge me for another visit to take care of an issue that they have not resolved. I've received several texts and emails ensuring they want to ensure my satisfaction and understand why I'm cancelling, but they have offered no resolution to my actual problem of getting rid of the hundreds of ants in my kitchen. BUYER BEWARE!! Very strong and manipulative sales tactics. I was told that it was $250/year for a bug solution, which seems reasonable. The contract is not legible from the small tablet they have you sign. When I received the email contract, I saw that it was $250 per quarter. Who would pay $1000 per year for bug spraying. I called my rep and he told me that he would reduce my payment to $150 and that with the other sales he had made in the neighborhood (by using my name without my permission), he would knock my Q2 payment to $75. When they came in Q2, they charged me $199 which was not part of the contract or what he told me. I immediately asked him /and the org to cancel my contract. They have a $250 cancellation fee. Now they are threatening to take threatening to take me to collections for not paying the $250 cancellation fee. I've never had an experience like this. Been with EcoShield for about 6 years now and I live in the Schaumburg area! I've always felt my technician has knocked it out of the park with every service! I used to use Aptive and then Terminix before them, but EcoShield really just puts more time and effort into the service and they really seem to know what they're doing because the service seems much more effective, than what I've used in the past! Chris was VERY professional. He answered my questions and sprayed inside and outside....and the garage. I've used this company for probably 10 years and have no problems except with a spider once in awhile. My neighbors have many spiders and ants, but EcoShield keeps them at bay for me. Chris asked several times if he could help me with anything (I was working in the garage). Very willing to help lift or move something for me. They have been out 4 different times changing the day of appointment through text which we were unavailable. And only spraying the front of our house . Called to cancel after seeing a worsening in activity after 3 treatments and they repeatedly failed to schedule the "free follow-up treatments for 100% satisfaction." They lowered the cost to $109/treatment. To cancel my contract they said I owed them $150, which is the amount they discounted for the initial treatment.... They literally just make these numbers up! Now I'm liable to pay them $150 for a service they just valued at $109? If they offered me a $150 discount on a $109 service, wouldn't that mean they owe me $41? That'd be nice!
