He gave me what I considered to be a fair price per square foot (based on my research of average pricing for wood floor refinishing) over the phone and was able to meet me that same day to get exact measurements. He was very accommodating to my schedule understanding that I wasn't currently living in the apartment and needed some extra travel time. The meeting was efficient and painless. He asked all the right questions and did not waste my time. He took down my email address and told me that he would email me the estimate. I needed this job to be done asap and he assured me that he could start the work on Monday and be done in 2 days. Sure enough later that evening he sent me the estimate via email. The ONLY reason why I went with another service provider is because I happened to get a referral from a very close friend the next day otherwise I would of DEFINITELY gone with NY Floorman. I was very impressed just with this process alone.

Richard was the only person to send me estimated costs in advance, provide me with images to consider finishes before hand. He was on time to the initial site meeting to take measurements and provide a detailed estimate. He was approachable, replied to emails quickly and gave me a sense of confidence that won him the job. I eliminated one company for missing the initial meeting (he called to say he'd be 2 hours late - this is unacceptable to me). I had them remove a partial wall, patch what was left over, and sand and refinish the floors. The guys on the site were great, punctual and reliable. They provided on site samples of the finishes for me to make a selection. (I would ask for this in advance if you want to see multiple colors/tones). The job took 4 days from start to finish, and was completed on time, as promised. Richard's price was competitive and the work was well done. They were respectful and listened to my concerns, described the work in detail and let me know what they would work on each day. I feel confident in recommending them to anyone. I will consult them again when I am ready to do more work. They are great.

Both companies, in writing, stated that the flooring "wasn't installed correctly". We ended up having to REMOVE the entire flooring and had a competent installer reinstall the entire floor. GH Flooring would not admit to the mistake or correct the mistake. Their response was " its close enough". We recommend to stay away from them. If on the off chance they cause damage to your home, (which they did in our home and refused to take responsibility) or install the flooring incorrectly, they won't correct it. Completely unprofessional and unworthy. Please take heed of our warning and just go with a real professional installer. Do yourself a favor and avoid the expense and hassle of having to do your floor twice.

(Calls to other companies for pricing and availability were surprisingly hit and miss. They needed to come back and finish on a 2nd day as a result of their stringent quality of work (after locating the reference "monuments" in the area, the coordinates needed to be reprogrammed back at the office, otherwise results could have been off by a few inches, which would have been unacceptable). When I called to let them know, they said no one ever complained before. I was also told product sold by weight not volume. Not what I was told when placing the order. Mulch is not a bag of potatoe chips. I got 1/3 of the volume of the much more expensive mulch, and 2/3 of the poor top soil. The top soil was just as heavy. Also BEWARE once product is delivered even if you were cheated or not satisfied, Bedford Stone won't pick up unless YOU, the customer can load it. They lost a repeat customer and they didn't seem to care. This is my first yelp. I support and shop primarily local family businesses, but the big box home store would have treated me better.
