STOP! RIP OFF! DISHONEST! Ford Service Dept is awful! During our 1st evacuation during Dixie Fire, the a/c in our 2019 Ford truck stopped working. After the 3rd evacuation, we were able to take it in to be fixed. After an hour wait, the Service Dept informs us that "someone" has put the wrong freon in the system. This voids the warranty. We explained that no a/c service had been done since we bought the truck. They stood firm. Being elderly, we cannot travel without a/c so had to pay $3600 to have the repair done, which literally took all day. We headed for home (2 hours away). 30 minutes later, we had to turn around because the truck had no power on grades. The Service Dept confessed that the technician had not reconnected one of the hoses. Due to the time delay, we were caught in a snow storm at night during the second hour of our return home. A horrible day altogether!! We will be looking for a new Ford Service location. read more

LONG REVIEW BUT WORTH THE READ...We purchased a new 2023 Mustang Mach E on 11/25/23 from Wittmeier in Chico. Its the last vehicle I will ever purchase from them and I strongly encourage you to consider my experience before you purchase a vehicle of your own from Wittmeier. From the beginning, the sales staff was arrogant, pushy, and condescending. We dealt with J (sales), MG (current sales manager), and JR (finance office) on the day of the purchase. We asked the dealership to throw in a set of all weather mats. They were unwilling to do so. We elected to purchase an extended warranty during the sale. These details are important to the outcome of our experience at Wittmeier. On 11/29/23, we received and completed an email survey from Ford asking for our input regarding our experience and how likely we were to recommend Wittmeier to others. On 12/4/23, I received a call from DC (former sales manager). DC expressed concern related to the survey results. He asked about what could be done to resolve the issue. He acknowledged that the sales team did not perform at its best but said that the survey results were very important to the dealership. DC asked if I was still interested in floor mats as this was something that had been discussed during the point of sale for the vehicle. He said he would like to comp me a free auto detailing service that would be on file to be used at a future date. I spoke to DC again on 12/5/23. He again brought up the survey results and the floor mats. He said that if I was willing to retake a survey and give Wittmeier a perfect score, he would give me a set of floor mats for my vehicle for free. I told him I was willing to do that. I asked DC to text me a photo of the mats. He agreed to do so. I planned to complete the survey once I received the photo. On 12/6/23, I received a text message from J (sales) with photos of the floor mats. I also received the second survey on 12/6/23. This survey contained 3 questions and I gave the highest rating for each question. I made a mental note that this survey only contained 3 questions while the first survey contained 5. On 12/8/23, I received a call from Wittmeier informing me that my mats were ready to pick up. Upon arriving, I was given a box containing mats for my vehicle. I installed the mats but realized that the trunk mat was not included. I was told I would need to speak to DC (sales manager). Once in sales, J (sales) came out to speak to me about the mats. I asked him if DC (sales manager) was going to come speak to me and he ignored my question. He showed me a single piece of paper with survey scores for 5 questions which averaged out to 4.25. This sheet of paper had no identifying info (name, date, etc.) on it. I explained that I had not received or completed a survey with 5 questions and had only received and completed a 3 question follow up survey. He ignored me and said I didn't uphold my end of the deal so I would not be receiving all of the mats. Referencing our text messages, I showed him that I could only have completed the 3 question survey. I also pointed out that there was no identifying info on the survey he had presented to me and asked how he could be sure this was completed by me. Then I informed him that the mats were already installed in my vehicle. He acknowledged that he would not be asking me to remove the mats from my vehicle. He then left to speak with DC (sales manager). after several minutes returned with a different document that included the original survey results and comments in addition to the second survey results. This time the document contained my name. Clearly the documents had been fabricated. J stated that he had been instructed to remove the floor mats from my vehicle. Completely shocked at how I had just been treated, I exited the building and walked out to my vehicle. J followed me. I called my partner to inform them of the situation and noticed that J was also on his phone. In an effort to avoid any further escalation, I made the choice to remove the mats from my vehicle before leaving the dealership. 2 weeks after the vehicle was purchased, it began making a popping/clicking sound upon breaking/accelerating. Fast forward several months of ongoing maintenance to fix the issue and we initiated a buy back from Ford to mitigate our losses as the vehicle could not be fixed. As for the extended warranty? After we canceled the policy, the warranty company sent Wittmeier the refund check. Wittmeier was responsible for issuing us the refund. By 4/2024, Wittmeier erroneously told us that Ford had swept their dealer account taking out the refund and that we would need to contact Ford Motor Company for our refund. After MONTHS of phone calls with Ford and Ford Finance, we were told they did not in fact have our money. At this point Wittmeier, determined they had our refund all along. We received our refund on 7/2024. What a mess. I completely regret this experience. 0 stars. read more

Worst dealership I've ever been to. I've had issues with certain aspects of their business in the past (not worth mentioning here), but Nothing as personally offensive as the experience I just had with their sales department while trying to sell my car to them. Right off the bat, I was insulted & accused of "lying" about how much Kelly Blue Book valued the car online. Things only got worse from there. I was duped into giving over my keys & title "to be copied" before any deal was hammered out and an agreement was made & I will never make that mistake again. Basically, they tried to low ball the offer over $800 below the fair market value, then told me to sign over my car to them & come back the next day for the check (!). UNbelievable. It was then I realized I was dealing with the lowest of the low stereo-typical car salesmen & had to all but threaten to call the police in order to get my keys and title back. After having the car 3 days we got heavy rain filled the door with water and the tail lights called they said they would fix it but we would have to pay half the cost almost $400. Tried for a year and will file complaint with Ford as well. Greedy dealership with Mark ups and still screw the customer after. It's 400 dollars or so worth of points and something they could simply just honor but they can care less about customer service once the sale is done. I decided to give this place a second chance today. I came in knowing exactly what I was looking for. I'm really disappointed with how this place operates. This review is not about the entire store. I'm reviewing the employee JORDAN specifically. I don't use the word liar loosely. It's a powerful word that should be reserved for those who deliberately LIE in order to manipulate. JORDAN doesn't tell the truth. Well, duh, you say. He's a car salesman! I've known a few and indeed, some straight up lie. Most, however, mix truth with lies. (No sir. There's no more red ones available. Or, this is the last one of this model. That's called fluffing.) Not JORDAN. He makes up his own reality. I called to see if they had a particular model in stock. I ended up talking with JORDAN. He said they have two (after checking!). I said fine, I'll be there in a few minutes and told him where I'd meet him. As I drive up, I see a cargo van (I asked about a passenger van - huge difference in this particular model) cruising over to the meeting spot. "That's not a passenger van." I said. "Right. We only have these because of tarrifs. We'll put windows and carpet and seats in later." He lied...er, replied. "No, I've seen them stock with what I want. That's why I asked if you had one." He then went on to tell me that, if I would follow him, he was going to show me pictures of what I wanted in a brochure. Pictures of the models he just claimed didn't exist. Unless I was wasting his time. W.T.F? Wasting HIS time? He ignored the truth to get me in there. He told me at least four non-truths, one after another. Not fluff. Not variations on a truth. Straight up, made-up. This is where things ended. I know the real BS begins once the paperwork starts and if this guy was going to straight up lie to me in the very first conversation, before I ever arrive, imagine what comes next. There is no way I would buy from JORDAN. Does this sound petty? Perhaps. Would you tolerate lies from your kids? your spouse? Why would you allow a stranger to do it? Purchased a new 2017 Ford F250, 6.7 diesel pickup from Wittmeier. Very happy with the truck... until a few months back. I updated the Ford Sync Nav/Audio/Control system while on home WIFI to the Sync 3.0 system. Upon receiving the update, the radio defaults to random AM/FM stations upon startup. I have Sirius XM which I listen to always, but now every time I start the truck, I have to change the audio from AM/FM randomness back to Sirius. Never happened before the update. Upon research on the internet, found out this is an ongoing problem with the update to Sync 3.0. Ford has released a TSB reprogram for the Audio issue recently, so I brought the truck in to get the fix. Wittmeier wants to charge me $165 for the fix that most others are receiving at no cost! Why am I paying for a faulty update from Ford? Response to me was that it was a Ford problem not theirs.... really? Don't they represent Ford? I am pissed!! If Wittmeier treats their customers this way, I will never return to their lot for ANY further purchases. There is no way I should pay a cent for Ford's faulty update. No wonder why the bad reviews. I called Saturday to verify is this black ford raptor was available, the person in the desk said was available for sale still. I told him that I'll be in stopping by the following day (Sunday) to drive test the truck and potentially buying it. I'm from the Bay Area, and I drive about two hrs to this dealership. When I arrived, this salesman approached to me and asked me if I needed help. I said yes, I come to check the 2017 for raptor. He said, oh yeah still available but my boss is driving it right now. I said oh ok, no big deal, is he coming back soon? The salesman asked me to wait and he went to make a call. After 10 min of waiting he came back just to tell me that the truck was at the boss sons house... like wtf? Obviously is very unprofessional and lack of ethics. Perfect representation of why people dislike car salesman. We walked in with the intent to purchase to purchase a Platinum class SUV either using pre-approved Ford financing or purchasing in full without financing. The very first words I said to the salesman was to not play any games with me. As a customer I am completely justified to push for the best purchase price possible and I also agree that the dealership is justified to push for the opposite as they are a business that is in business to make money. No problems there. The salesman spent a few hours with us looking at several SUV's both from Lincoln as well as from Ford. He was patient with us on that front. However, he would never give a straight answer on what the "Ford Factory Incentives" were on the Explorer or the Expedition. (We knew there were incentives which Ford explained to us during the financing pre-approval) When we finally settled on the vehicle we wanted the salesman started in with the lies. He even told us that he needed personal information in order to provide us with the vehicle specific Ford incentives which I know to be false as I have purchased close to 30 Ford vehicles. He then lied to us and told us Whittmeier was providing the $1250 incentive which we knew came from the factory. (This all came on a crap price breakdown that looks detailed at first glance but is actually an extremely vague cost sheet.) They then proceeded to hold my fiancé's license hostage so we couldn't leave and even had the nerve to invite themselves to drive us to our bank to grab a cashiers check. He literally tried to herd us out the door and physically take us to our bank and take part in our private banking!!! When we told him we were leaving he told us they were "nervous" for us to leave because "90% of people do not return." The reason people don't return is because people are smarter than the credit that's given to them. We left and immediately called Corning Ford and told them how bad our experience was. We told them over the phone the exact vehicle we wanted and that we simply wanted to come in when it was ready and sign and leave. They called us back with a price that was higher than Whittmeier by a few hundred dollars which I HAPPILY agreed to. (We did NOT tell Corning Ford the price from Whittmeier prior...) Corning Ford gained our business and earned my loyalty because they listened to the FIRST request/statement that I made. "Do not play games with me.) I own a fleet of Ford trucks and Corning Ford will have my business moving forward. The sales team at Whittmeier threw away $300k of yearly fleet sales simply by being stereotypical "car salesman." Lesson, people genuinely do not trust car salesman as it is. If you build fires on the floor of your house then your house will eventually burn down. read more

My wife and I bought a nice used vehicle about a year ago and got the best "bumper to bumper" warranty. Our vehicle's trunk doesn't open all of the time and there is soot build up on the exhaust. The warranty does not cover those things even though we were told it was "bumper to bumper". Don't sell lies just to make some extra cash. You are screwing over your community, be better than that. Purchased two vehicles here. One of them the financing guy tried to blackmail me into getting an extended warranty for a better financing rate. Shame on me for coming back for the second vehicle. I've complained about rattling noises from the engine of my 2012 chevy equinox since 12k miles, well within warranty years and milage. They always brushed it off saying that they couldn't hear it or that it was normal. I finally narrowed it down to the engine being low on oil. I go in for an oil consumption test (3 visits, 500, 1000, 1500 miles) and the service manager eyeballs it and says that it is within spec. I setup another oil consumption test, and same thing. I setup a third oil consumption test(1000, 2000, 3000 miles), because I am now having to add 2.5 to 3 quarts of oil every 5k miles. Come to find out, they have not documented any of my complaints or any of the previous consumption tests they performed. On my third set of oil consumptions tests, they eye balled it in the back and said that it was within spec. The oil rating was already at 1/2 to 2/3 down the dipstick which indicates its low 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart of oil. The manager gets involved and calls me the next day to say I can come back in for a proper test free of charge, of which they will properly measure and document the issue. That's great and all, but guess what? I am now outside my warranty period and any repairs will have to be paid by me out of pocket. I now find out this car has had class action lawsuits for GM putting too thing of oil rings on the pistons. These lawsuits have since settled and guess what? I am now outside the period window because these service managers and techs won't do their jobs properly and document and properly measure oil during their "oil consumption tests". I will never buy a vehicle from this place again, nor will I ever be taking any of my vehicles to them for service. Good bye Wittmeier, enjoy screwing over the rest of your customers. read more

This is the only ford dealership in Chico so I don't really have a choice. What's frustrating about Wittmeier Ford is that no one seems to really know what is going on. They don't take appointments for "the works", which is an oil change plus tire rotation, top off fluids, tire pressure & tread check, and battery check. The usu. So when you walk in and no one greets you, it's discouraging. You track down a service writer (nice bunch of guys) but they always tell you about an hour. It's never about an hour. When you come back in an hour and 20 minutes, the cashier tells you to ask the service writer (unhelpful!). 15 more minutes. Ok. They pull your car up so you go to the cashier. No paperwork yet. 5 minutes. You sign and pay and your told the keys are in your car. Walk out to your car, they're not. WTF! Walk back in to get my keys. Close to 2 hours later you're finally done with this circus. Some advice for Wittmeier. Give people a realistic timeframe and hire a greeter. Ugh. read more

I took my 2003 Ford Explorer to Wittmeier Ford in Chico in September because it was making noises that got worse when turning left and got better when turning right. The dealership did about $1600 of work on the car. Shortly after we got the vehicle home we began experiencing new problems with it that seem to be the result of the work the dealership did. It now makes whooshing noises and crunching when the brakes are depressed, as if there is something wrong with the springs. We live almost 2 hours away from the dealership. I have made several appointments to bring the Explorer back, but have had to cancel due to weather or illness. I had an appointment for March 13, and I called to confirm. I was told that there would be a $165 inspection fee, even though I am bringing the vehicle back due to what appears to be faulty work on the dealership's part. The Explorer is not driven much. It is a back-up vehicle, and probably only has a few hundred miles on it since it was serviced in September. I explained this to Carlos, the guy I spoke with, and he said that did not matter and that their technicians need to get paid for the work they do. I didn't say it, but my thought is that they should have properly done the work they were paid to do in September. I should not have to pay for their mistakes. I am already inconvenienced with the time and gas to get the Explorer back to them. I was told that Wittmeier Ford's work was warrantied for 6 months. Isn't work done by a certified dealer under warranty for a year? We are just over the 6 month mark now, and had been trying to get the car in for several months-well before the dealer's deadline. I ended up cancelling the appointment for March 13 and do not plan to return to this dealer. Further, shortly after getting the vehicle home we noticed that the front bumper has a large, symmetrical indentation in it on each side-likely from the dealer when they serviced it. It wasn't there before, and we haven't hit anything. I live in a small community, and I will make sure I let everyone know that they should not go to Wittmeier Ford because they do not stand behind their work, and they do shoddy work. read more

Bring mace. Once you get out of your car to shop, you will be immediately jumped by 3-5 salespeople. They will follow you around like pitbulls waiting for an opportunity. They will ask you questions like, "what kind of car are you looking for?" or "what price range and payment are you trying to get?" Well, it seems they want to qualify you before you even settle on something you like. And if you find a car you like, you wont' even get a presentation. They won't open the hood or show you all the features. And the salespeople don't really even know much about cars. They won't study the products they sell. All they want from you is a commitment to buy. I buy my cars in the Bay Area. There is such a huge difference in how you are treated. Wittmeier has lost its touch with what it means to be helping the customer buy a car. Its about the $$$$....not about what you want. I just bought a German car in Fremont, CA and the salesperson gave me an incredible presentation. The finance guy didn't drill me on buying an extended warranty, undercarriage sealant, Scotch-Gard treatment, or tell me that I can have all these options and keep my payment the same (that's because they lowered the APR rate on your loan to make up for the crap they sold you...why not give me a good rate in the first place??). Shop after hours to see what cars you like...then drive to the Bay Area. You save lots of money and have more to choose from. read more

I wish i could give a -3 stars since this is the 3rd nightmare experience I've had at this dealership on an attempt to keep my 2014 ford focus from being found dead on road. Why 3xs?? This is the only authorized ford dealership in chico. I went in with a problem.. Left $400 broker with the problem totally not addressed.. A " new water bottle" I may have needed and a totally dead battery that was just checked elsewhere when i got an oil change....it was fine until they worked on it. The battery is under warranty... The service guy literally told me you go to Les Schwab or somewhere else. This car will be paid of (after 6 years) this year. It has never accelerated safely. There is a class action lawsuit for the issue but the dealership tells me i need to pay to have it fixed 3xs first.. Then i can be refunded. Never.. Ever.. Will I buy a vehicle that needs to be serviced at a ford dealership. I will never buy a ford again. This was my 3rd problem visit and the 3rd service person. This is my first (and still only) 1-star Yelp review. Let me tell you about my adventures leasing from Ed Wittmeier Ford: * Salesman wouldn't honor the lease deal linked from Ford's website. I brought the offer up on my iPhone. He didn't dispute that it was the specific vehicle offered, nor had the offer expired. It wasn't confusion about documentation costs, taxes, or mandatory fees. They simply wanted more. * Every attempt to negotiate resulted in a long, long wait. If you've ever had the salesman disappear for ten minutes at a time while the keys for your potential trade in are kept in a back room, you know the game. * The finance agent pushed *hard* on vehicle coatings, extra insurance, etc even on a 2 year lease. Their $300 dent and ding warranty and spare key replacement plan has fine print that excludes any dents or dings that require paint, sanding, or parts. You're better off spending $20 for a glue puller or $5 for a suction cup puller if and only if you actually need a ding pulled out. * Salesman invited me to sign up for car insurance on their machine. No sign of antivirus software. Another customer's Geico session was still active. Passwords for OnStar, Ford Credit, GMC Global Connect are literally taped to the monitor (I took photos!). I decided it would be smarter to sign up by phone and regretted letting them run my credit on their machines. * They lost one of the keys. He assured me he'd find the second key for me later that day and drop it off at my home. Didn't happen. More than a week later, I still didn't have it and it's registered as the admin key in the Escort's computer. That made me paranoid the thing would go missing some night. In the end it took 3 visits, including one all-day vehicle drop off to get the second key replaced. * Salesman said I would get 2 years of Sirius XM free. It expired after 6 months. He acknowledged the mistake but wouldn't do a thing about it. * At lease end, they're trying to tack on an extra $295 inspection fee for me to buy the vehicle. It's not in the lease agreement, which only allows for fees and taxes mandated by the state. The finance agent initially claimed it was required by the DMV. I called the DMV and they said that was untrue. The agent subsequently acknowledged that it was new policy at the dealership and the fee itself wasn't mandated by the state, but refused to waive it. * When I wrote on the check that I was paying the $295 inspection fee under protest and that I intended to contact the Better Business Bureau about the fee, they gave my check and paperwork back and told me to go buy out my lease somewhere else! With a month before the lease is up, I'm left dealing with the BBB, finding another dealership that's willing to facilitate a third-party dealer buyout, or paying $295 that isn't in the lease buy out agreement. Looking at their reviews on Glassdoor (employees reviewing the employer) it's easy to guess why they might not attract friendly talent. read more

This place is awful. I will NOT be bringing my car back here. No one has been friendly or welcoming. There's no assigned place to it and wait for my car. While dropping off my car I was told that the crew that was going to be working on it was sub par. That's a great way to greet someone, don't you think? This is ridiculous. As a business owner I am appalled at the way customers are treated here. I have not been offered water and when they realized that I was not looking to buy a car they quickly turned their heads away without another word. The last time I was at a Ford dealership I was asked if I wanted coffee 4 times by 4 different people before I finally have in. They offered a place to charge my laptop and seating. This place has a lot of work to do. It's pathetic that I have to be warned about how bad the service will be. I cannot believe this. read more

My mom was shopping for a newer vehicle. We went to multiple dealers and ended up purchasing at Wittmeier Ford. Joe Arrigoni bent over backwards to find a perfect, used car for my mom. He was patient and understanding and mom drove away in a really nice, barely used accord. Joe went above and beyond on a very busy sales day to get her an extra fob and had a co-worker set up the car for her (tech challenged as she is) including syncing her cell phone.
