The former Eddie and Mario's in Clifton Park changed its name to Eddie F's a few weeks ago, according to staff. It joins the rest of the Eddie F's chain: The free-standing restaurant in Saratoga Springs and an eatery at the race track. I've yet to visit the Saratoga locations but I certainly enjoyed my meal in Clifton Park. The Eddie F's sign has been installed out front. The restaurant is cute and casual with a wonderful assortment of New England style seafood and sides. I ordered a blackened haddock sandwich, onion rings and coleslaw. It was really delicious. I was so happy that I wasn't limited to fish fry and that the blackened haddock came out of the kitchen just as quickly as my friend's fried fish fillet sandwich. I'm trying to eat healthier especially after my doctor recently assigned me a nutritionist so she expects to see results. On that note, Eddie F's New England style onion rings are almost guilt free. Our helpful server, Ashlynn, explained that these onion rings are not heavily breaded and battered like the traditional ones. I stuck some of them in my sandwich along with some coleslaw and went-to-town. I should mention the coleslaw is different, too. I asked,"Is there any mayonnaise ? I don't see or taste any." According to our server, Eddie F's coleslaw contains no mayo. There is vinegar and a bit of sugar which is great for me. Well, a solid two years has passed since Eddie F's opened in Clifton Park. We had been to the Saratoga location several times before that, and probably once after Clifton Park opened. I say all that because we live in Clifton Park and only just now got to this location for the first time even though we had been relatively regular customers of the former Harbor House. Apparently, 5:30PM on a Monday during Lent is a good time to dine here. We were the only customers when we walked in and only two other parties arrived by the time we left. With that said, service was friendly, prompt, and efficient. There were many different things I wanted to try, so the best option for me was the Captains Basket ($45). Initially, this seemed expensive to me. But when the meal was placed in front of me, two thoughts crossed my mind - am I going to try to eat all this? - and will I enjoy it? The answers were NO and YES, respectively. The Captains Basket contains haddock, scallops, shrimp, and Ipswich whole belly clams. The portions of each were very generous and I was able to include two sides. While I chose to have all my fish fried, I could have mixed and matched additional choices of grilled, blackened, or gluten free fried. The coating on the fried fish is light and not overly salty. All the fish varieties were perfectly cooked. The haddock was flakey, the shrimp had a slight crunch to their bite, the whole belly clams were soft and creamy, and the scallops were tender, sweet, and slightly springy. My side of onion rings were not greasy and very thinly sliced. I generally prefer a thicker sliced onion. The baked beans I ordered mostly for my wife's enjoyment, and while I thought the consistency was more fluid than what I expected, my wife said they reminded her of pork and beans. My wife's choice for dinner was the Fish N Chips ($19) - battered and fried with French fries and slaw. She had two good sized portions of haddock of equal quality to my haddock, and non-greasy fries that were crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and still tasty when I tried them at room temperature. The slaw was average. A couple of large sodas ($3.50 each) rounded out our meal. Neither of us finished our meal and took some home to enjoy the next day - and we did! On our next trip, I plan to order less fish and save room for dessert since the choices sounded so good. read more

We ordered the gluten-free fried whole belly clams to go. We were seated right away when we walked in, but then decided we'd rather take our food out to the picnic tables. The server was friendly and took our order right away. We stopped in for a light lunch, and the clams were tasty. The breading was nice and crisp without being too heavy, and the homemade cocktail sauce was a big plus. It took about 10-15 minutes for the food, and then we brought it out back. For being right on Route 9 in Clifton Park, the picnic area was surprisingly quiet and relaxing. We really enjoyed sitting out there. The only drawback was the portion size. For $24, we expected more. We each only got a couple of clams, and there was just one true whole belly clam in the basket (which I was lucky enough to get and it was delicious). My wife and I just dined there, it was our 4th or 5th visit, we are thrilled! Charli waited on us and the service was flawless! We went there because my wife wanted Lobster and she was pleased. I had a Shrimp Cocktail and then a Caesar Salad with Shrimp added! All the food was wonderful and we shared Carrot Cake, to top off our perfect meal! Tried this place for pizza and wings - they did not disappoint. Legit downstate NY thin crust pizza that tasted great - not the usual upstate stuff. Also had boneless wings that were well seasoned and fresh breaded chicken breast chunks. I'll definitely be going back and will try the seafood. read more

Lunch with my grandson on a Wednesday. Arrived at 11:15 and place was empty until 11:40. Ordered the Whole Belly Clams as an appetizer. $22.00 for a few whole clams and several broken pieces in the serving! I did not balk at the price until I saw the quality. When asked about the food, I said something to the waitress, and later when she gave me the bill she said she had used a coupon to take $5.00 off. I thanked her and rewarded her in a generous tip. My lobster Roll was excellent. 5 Stars $25. Special on Wednesdays. My grandson's was mediocre. - 2 Stars Whole belly clams appetizer - 2 Stars Baked Beans - 3 Stars lacked flavor, watery NE Clam Chowder $9.00 for a cup - 4 Stars Looking forward to my annual vacation in Narragansett, RI for delicious Whole Belly Clams. I don't know why I even bother with seafood in the Albany area. Having grown up in Connecticut I suppose my standards are a little different with regards to several foods that up here are just abysmal disasters generally around the 518.. From overpriced lobster rolls to bad oysters...todays fried haddock was a soggy and greasy mess here at Eddie F's. This isn't rocket science folks if you take the time to not rush a product and drain your fish on a paper towel before you serve it this shouldn't be an issue. A pretty meager serving of haddock for $20 coupled with lukewarm Manhattan clam chowder that was clearly microwaved. You might be able to half-ass the local native Albany area public who accept mediocrity as standard but don't do it to someone who grew up in New England. We know better about seafood....a lot better than Eddie Fs does. read more

Went for dinner with a $100 gift card from a friend. Ordered 2 lobster rolls & lobster bisque. Sent the lobster back for being overcooked, and the bisque was straight water. Finishing up I presented the gift card and was told they cant accept them due to a new register system and they will only be accepted in Saratoga?????? We dont live nor frequent Saratoga and I had to pay with my card. No sign on the door or heads up from the staff of the gift card situation. Oh well sorry, was about all we got. A group of 4 for dinner. Issues with both food quality and service. Two orders of the fried whole clams. One chicken sandwich. One burger. The chicken in the sandwich was basically inedible. Burger was just okay. No way that was an 8 ounce burger as advertised. Rolls for both were mushy wet on the bottom and sorta stale dry on top. Fried whole clams were good. Bills arrived. Credit cards were clipped to each tray. Customers pay more when they pay by credit card. Despite physically clipping the card to each bill tray, our server somehow managed to switch the cards and charge the meals to the wrong card. That was really hard to do, given the setup. Eddie F's is known for excellent seafood. And I can tell you that is factual! The restaurant's decor is warm and welcoming. Red and white check curtains. Horse racing memorabilia and interesting license plates decorate the walls. My husband and I dined on Thursday during restaurant week. He started with the lobster bisque and I ordered the Manhattan clam chowder. Both soups were generous in size and tasted fantastic. My husband and I both ordered the whole belly clams basket. The clams were absolutely delicious! Reminded me of the fried whole belly clams we get in Maine: the coating is light and compliments the clams beautifully. The portion was plentiful, too. My husband ate onion rings and coleslaw for his sides. I tried an onion ring as they looked so good. The absolute best onion rings I ever tasted. I ate an order of grilled broccoli and coleslaw slaw with my whole belly clams. The broccoli was seasoned perfectly. Their coleslaw is slightly crunchy and lightly dressed, just the way I like it. Desserts were included. My husband decided on a mini cannoli and I opted for the spumoni. Both desserts were authentic Italian treats... the perfect way to end our meals. A Step Up from Ted's Eddie F's is just north of Route 146 on US 9 in Clifton Park. Plenty of parking is available. When you walk in, it feels like you should order at the counter, but instead, you're supposed to seat yourself. A server will then bring you a menu and take your order. Service has always been straightforward and efficient. The menu is mainly seafood, but they also have burgers, hotdogs, mac & cheese, and subs. The food comes out quickly, and they bring bottles of condiments to your table--no need to fetch them yourself, which is a big plus in my book. Side options are limited. The broccoli is pretty good, but I'm not a fan of the chowder. My go-to main dishes are whole belly clams, a lobster roll, or scallops. I've tried most of the menu, but these three are my favorites. Like most seafood restaurants, Eddie F's is expensive. A recent combo platter set me back $50 with tax and tip--for lunch. So, I don't go often, but when I do, it's for the whole belly clams or a lobster roll--two of the priciest (but best) items on the menu. read more

I ended up knowing about this restaurant by checking in inaccurately on yelp. I stopped by at Eddys down the street to pick up dumplings for my son and the name is so close that I ended up checking in to Eddie Fs. A few days later, Yelp asks me to review something I had never tried before. I realize my mistake and mistakes do happen and i corrected mine! After researching the menu, I decided Wednesday would be the best day for me to go try out their Lobster roll special. The roll is served hot or cold, I chose hot, and this comes with coleslaw and fries. I was there at 2pm and the restaurant was surprisingly full. The place felt warm and welcoming and I would definitely be back her to try other items on their menu. I didn't notice the recent management change from the prior harbor house fish fry. Though I pass by this every week, I never looked to see the sign changed to the new sea food restaurant. It took me 2 weeks to notice! Clifton Park is welcoming a replacement fish venue. Unfortunately, opening day jitters happens to almost every new restaurant. Interior is freshly painted, servers now instead of just ordering food and getting a table. Tables bussed quickly. SO and I ventured out to give this location a try. We've eaten before at their Saratoga location and enjoyed the food. I ordered the Captain's Basket which included whole belly clams, a large piece of haddock, shrimp and scallops. SO ordered the Whole Belly Clam basket with onion rings. Here's the faux pas, my whole belly clams were strips only. SO ordered onion rings but got fries. Small little things; server was quick to remedy the rings. I hadn't mentioned the clam mistake and maybe I should have. Salad side was fresh and crisp. Fries and rings crisp and delicious. Fish - again - crisp, fresh, not greasy, just delicious. I knew getting the Captain would be difficult to finish, but tomorrows another day. We shall see how well everything reheats. Parking lot is spacious. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Cocktail sauce was full of horseradish! Fantastic. It is worth a return. read more

I rec'd an order of scallops tonight @ 6:40 pm via Doordash. I bit into the first one & it had a bad taste, I had to spit it out. I put my nose to the others and they all had an "off smell". I just called the manager & he told me it was impossible that they were bad because he has not had any other complaints all day. I suggested he come to my home and pick them up & judge for himself (I live 7 minutes away). He then became combative, raising his voice and asking me if I was crazy etc. For a business that is trying to keep their loyal customers and attract new ones, this was not expected. Just returned from Eddie and Mario's Seafood and Pizza on Rt. 9 in Clifton Park. The 12 cut sour dough Tiedye Pizza and the Long Island pie with spinach and sweet onions were fabulous . I've been going to the Eddie F's in Saratoga for years, and I finally had a convenient opportunity to try their Clifton Park restaurant. It has immediately become a place for lunch or dinner. Not only was I already familiar with the menu, this place is away from the congestion that is Mall Land. It's larger and more comfortable, and it's set up nicely to separate dine-in customers from those ordering at the counter or picking up.It was extra enjoyable being served by an upbeat and effervescent waitress. Hooray for a large parking lot too! If you're going there for lunch on Wednesdays, with the discounted lobster rolls, get there before noon to avoid the crowd. read more

After loving the Eddie F's in Saratoga, I decided to give their new location a try. Considering that, this location is just as good as the original. To lead off, Eddie F's was offering a three course meal deal for only $25 and I would have been a fool not to take advantage of that. For my first course, I decided to get the lobster bisque and it was unequivocally delicious. The bisque was hot, creamy, smooth, succulent, and had phenomenal flavor. The bisque was so good that I wanted to run out into the street and tell the world about it. It was the greatest lobster bisque that I've ever had. Next, I ordered the lobster macaroni and cheese as my entree and it was very good. To decipher, the mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy, and toothsome. The lobster was fresh and there was plenty of it in the dish. Also, the portion size was massive and I couldn't even finish all of it. The only thing the macaroni and cheese needed was a bread crumb topping to add that nice crunch. Finally, for dessert I ordered a cannoli and it was excellent. To elaborate, the cannoli was crunchy on the outside and buttery and sweet on the inside. It was simply a great cannoli. We tried Eddie Fs when we were wanting some seafood, but it just missed the mark. Upon arrival, there was a few servers who were also the hostess so that was already an indication that service was going to be slower. What we didn't realize was how slow it would be from when we sat to when we got our food. They said they ran out of lobster bisque, so we were waiting awhile for that. The lobster bisque did not have any taste of seafood and tasted as if I was drinking a bowl of melted butter. The food there is very bland and needs a bit more seasoning. Our first trip to Eddie F's in Clifton Park since it opened earlier this month. We found the ambiance to be comfortable, clean and warm. The food was good, plenty of clams in the clam chowder, the scallops were cooked just the way I like them. The fries were crispy outside and tender inside. Our server was excellent, kept the glasses full and checked back a few times to ensure we were happy. Now you ask... for a good review like this, why only 4 stars.... Simple... I felt the prices were high! $9.00 for clam chowder served in a disposable cup. The scallop roll & French fries was $21.00. Our bill was over $70.00 which I consider quite high for what we received. I know the costs of food has been going up recently and they have to make a profit. Basically I felt the food was tasty, fresh, the venue was comfortable and the service excellent....
