    Fish Fry Onion Rings
    Jennifer L.

My friends and I went here for the Ted's Fish Fry 75th anniversary tour and it was a really cool experience! There was a line out the door but they had water outside and the service was really quick and organized as well! The fish fry was really good and the onion rings were excellent!! The tartar sauce, chili sauce, and cocktail sauce were really good and helped break up getting tired from the fried food taste too. My friend also got the hotdog which she enjoyed. It was a fun outing and the restaurant had really good vibes and was clean and tidy!

I had calamari fish and a lunch deal that included a fish burger, fries, sauces, and a fountain drink. My experience was good overall. The ambiance and environment were nice. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but the service was decent. If you ask for extra sauce, they do provide it, but somewhat reluctantly. Parking is also good. If I were to rate it out of 10, I'd give it a 9. For Muslims, fish is the only option, so this restaurant is recommended for Muslims as well. Thank you!

Time to eat! The batter was delicious today: light, flaky, perfect. Onion rings and clam chowder very good as well. Ted's always has great food.

Drove from Atlanta to visit family. The drive was worth the wait. The best fish, rings and mozzarella bites we've ever had!! The staff and Ed were so friendly. The restaurant spacious and comfortable.

Two fish fry to go, chili sauce on the side.

I've been eating fish fries at various places for probably close to 70 years. Most of those years included Ted's Fish Fry and the last 46 years has also included Harbor House. Yet, I don't consider myself a fish fry aficionado (did you get that?). Today my wife and I decided to compare the two Clifton Park locations side by side. I chose to not place our orders online because Ted's uses Mealeo for online ordering and that increases the cost of each fish fry by $1 even though you are picking up your order. So, I drove to each location and placed the exact same order: 2 fish fry to go with chili sauce on the side. The cost was the same, $5.25 for each fish fry, for a total of $11.25 after sales tax at each location. The efficiency of each place mirrored their years of experience. I was out of each establishment within 5 minutes, even though the Friday evening dinner time was keeping each place busy. The photo I've posted will provide a visual comparison for your eyes, documenting the first impression of each order. Ted's fish were longer and thinner. Harbor House provided an additional piece of fish for my wife and I to split. While not going to the extreme of weighing each order, my guess is that the Harbor House order would have tipped the scale very slightly in its favor. And that's ignoring the fact that Harbor House provided more chili sauce. The breading used on the fish looked very similar, but my wife said she could taste a difference. Possibly Ted's had more corn flavor. The chili sauces were similar with a stronger vinegar effect, read sourness, in the one from Harbor House. The biggest overall difference was with the fish. Ted's uses cod. Harbor House uses pollack. The two of us agreed that the pollack had a denser texture while the cod was more flakey. You likely recall the "tastes great, less filling" commercials. Well, my wife believed that Ted's won this competition because it tasted great. I thought that Ted's was less filling, but I wasn't ready to say they were the outright winner. You'll just have to conduct your own comparison to see which better pleases YOUR palate. Both are very good. Go Fish!

Horse racing memorabilia and interesting license plates decorate the walls. My husband and I dined on Thursday during restaurant week. He started with the lobster bisque and I ordered the Manhattan clam chowder. Both soups were generous in size and tasted fantastic. My husband and I both ordered the whole belly clams basket. The clams were absolutely delicious! Reminded me of the fried whole belly clams we get in Maine: the coating is light and compliments the clams beautifully. The portion was plentiful, too. My husband ate onion rings and coleslaw for his sides. I tried an onion ring as they looked so good. The absolute best onion rings I ever tasted. I ate an order of grilled broccoli and coleslaw slaw with my whole belly clams. The broccoli was seasoned perfectly. Their coleslaw is slightly crunchy and lightly dressed, just the way I like it. Desserts were included. My husband decided on a mini cannoli and I opted for the spumoni. Both desserts were authentic Italian treats... the perfect way to end our meals. Our waitress was extraordinary! She refilled our drinks and checked in on us during each course. We will be back!

Well, a solid two years has passed since Eddie F's opened in Clifton Park. We had been to the…read moreSaratoga location several times before that, and probably once after Clifton Park opened. I say all that because we live in Clifton Park and only just now got to this location for the first time even though we had been relatively regular customers of the former Harbor House. Apparently, 5:30PM on a Monday during Lent is a good time to dine here. We were the only customers when we walked in and only two other parties arrived by the time we left. With that said, service was friendly, prompt, and efficient. There were many different things I wanted to try, so the best option for me was the Captains Basket ($45). Initially, this seemed expensive to me. But when the meal was placed in front of me, two thoughts crossed my mind - am I going to try to eat all this? - and will I enjoy it? The answers were NO and YES, respectively. The Captains Basket contains haddock, scallops, shrimp, and Ipswich whole belly clams. The portions of each were very generous and I was able to include two sides. While I chose to have all my fish fried, I could have mixed and matched additional choices of grilled, blackened, or gluten free fried. The coating on the fried fish is light and not overly salty. All the fish varieties were perfectly cooked. The haddock was flakey, the shrimp had a slight crunch to their bite, the whole belly clams were soft and creamy, and the scallops were tender, sweet, and slightly springy. My side of onion rings were not greasy and very thinly sliced. I generally prefer a thicker sliced onion. The baked beans I ordered mostly for my wife's enjoyment, and while I thought the consistency was more fluid than what I expected, my wife said they reminded her of pork and beans. My wife's choice for dinner was the Fish N Chips ($19) - battered and fried with French fries and slaw. She had two good sized portions of haddock of equal quality to my haddock, and non-greasy fries that were crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and still tasty when I tried them at room temperature. The slaw was average. A couple of large sodas ($3.50 each) rounded out our meal. Neither of us finished our meal and took some home to enjoy the next day - and we did! On our next trip, I plan to order less fish and save room for dessert since the choices sounded so good.

The atmosphere is inviting, open and plain beautiful. Our waiter Doug was awesome - he was extremely knowledgeable of their menu items and their cocktails. I had a Blood Orange Old Fashioned which was off the charts (and I am an Old fashioned Drinker). And they have a great wine selection. The food and the service was excellent. Their pricing is very fair. As my wife and I were sitting there between apps and dinner I witnessed a young employee clean a table and chairs nearby where a couple had just left, and I have to tell you, I have been in restaurants all over the U.S. and Europe for many many years and I have never witnessed the thorough job this kid did - you would swear it was Covid all over again! I was blown away at the detailed cleaning. At that point in my book they hit a home run in every category and I had to let the Manager know how impressed we were. The Manager Christine came over to the table and I gave her and her staff an A+ in every category. I'll close by sharing this - People always make the time to complain about something but rarely make the time to let people know they have gone above and beyond and did a great job. My hat is off to The Grille and the people who make the place a hit - their employees! Job well done guys - don't change a thing and we will be back very very soon. Thanks for a great evening out. I said on our next visit we wanted to try the burgers and tacos. Yes, we tried the burgers this time, so we were at least halfway successful. We both ordered the Steakhouse Burgers ($21) served with wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, cheddar, and a cabernet sauce. These burgers were delicious! The meat was a perfect medium rare as each of us requested, the rolls were soft and fresh, the cabernet sauce had an exceptionally good flavor, and combined with the sautéed onions and melted cheese provided just the right amount of moisture and gooeyness. I chose to have my burger served with the standard French fries which they call Dipple Fries if ordered separately as a side. (Google "dipple fries cutter" to see how they are shaped.) My wife substituted a Caesar salad for the fries for an up charge of $5. The salad was quite good and large enough for her to share some of it with me. We also had a bottle of Saratoga sparkling ($9) and a pint of Wolf Hollow Amber ($8.50). Our server, Jordin, was truly pleasant on our last visit and again on this one. Maybe next time we'll remember to try the Tacos. There WILL be a next time.

I really like The Flats in Clifton Park. I've been here several times for dinner and lunch, along with their Christmas breakfast and Mother's Day buffet brunches. Their buffets are excellent. They're around $50 per adult and about $20 for kids, and in my opinion they're worth it if you enjoy a good brunch buffet. Today they had carving stations with roast beef and turkey sliced fresh in front of you, build your own omelets, chocolate chip waffles, chicken nuggets, potato pancakes, sausage, bacon, mac and cheese, herb chicken and rice, seafood, and a huge dessert selection. There were so many desserts I couldn't possibly name them all, but some included chocolate chip cookies, Rice Krispie treats, lemon meringue pie, chocolate mousse pie, Oreo mousse pie, mini cheesecake cupcakes, and plenty of other goodies. I will say the chocolate mousse pie tasted good but was a little gritty in texture. I love me some chocolate mousse pie ordinarily but today I actually preferred the Oreo mousse pie. That being said everything is all you can eat, and it's all very good. It was extremely busy today, which was expected, but service was still excellent. That's been consistent every time I've visited here. The restaurant itself has a nice industrial-style feel and a covered patio area that I really like. It's a newer place that's only been open a few years, at least from what I'm aware of. Most places around here seem to do brunches but not true buffet brunches anymore, and I personally enjoy a good buffet brunch, so this place really stands out to me. If you get the chance to attend one of their buffets, I'd definitely recommend it. I know I will return in the future. 5 stars
