This is not my first time buying a cake here. My first time purchasing a cake here was for my daughter's 21st birthday and it was a special order cake. They also do well on theme cakes. This cake for the graduation party tasted so well and looked fabulous! I was able to purchase a vanilla cake with a strawberry filling. The cake was covered in a whipped cream icing in topped with glazed strawberries and blueberries. They were able to customize it for me and everybody enjoyed it at dinner. Callejas allows you to book a cake tasting appointment, which we took advantage of. At the cake tasting time we also gave them a couple of pictures of what we wanted the design to look like. We needed a cake for this past weekend and we give them a try. The lady was very helpful. We didn't know what flavor we wanted only the style. So she offer different flavors. We decided to get chocolate with chocolate moose filling and the champagne with the champagne filling. The cake look very pretty. And everybody likes the taste. The chocolate one was creamy and moist. Very good. Not too sweet. Just the way we liked it. The champagne had a little kick of the actual champagne. Also everybody was so happy with the taste. I ordered a Batman cake for my son's 6th birthday this past Saturday and it came out perfect and exactly like the photo I showed them. I ordered the cake a week before the party (because I'm a terrible planner lol) and they had no problem taking the order. The staff was professional and extremely friendly on the phone and in person. The bakery is a little hidden gem located on the north end of a little strip mall that unfortunately has a lot of vacancies. Was greeted right away with a very friendly, helpful young lady. They are a bakery that is originally from Kerman and are now expanding. To give a better idea of their location it is right next to golden dynasty chinese restaurant next to Target on shields and first. Very clean facility , good prices and delicious items for sale. The owner let me sample small pastries which were sooooo freakin good !! One in particular was called rugelach, never heard of if it but basically it is a pastry topped with sugar and in the middle you will discover candied walnuts with apricot preserves. It melted in your mouth and was probably my favorite thing so far that I've tried. I purchased a chocolate covered strawberry and it was huge!!! Not only that but the strawberry was so fresh and sweet, the dark chocolate tasted high quality. I didn't stop there, my weakness is cheesecake so of course I had to get a slice, it had chocolate ganache on top with a glazed strawberry and it's a hit. More of the NY style, it did not disappoint; creamy and thick without being heavy or dense or dry. We also tried the strawberry pizza which also had some cheesecake patisserie cream that was different from the cheesecake, lighter and oh so yummy. Cheesecake was a good size, enough to share but my daughter really didn't want to lol. The strawberry pizza was definitely big enough for two. Since then, my girls have come back a few more times for a larger strawberry pizza, strawberry cream puff, slice of chocolate cake. Oh and a slice of tres leches cake which was really good. The cream puff pastry tasted stale like it had been there too many days. The chocolate cake was moist but had a raspberry filling we didn't care for. I found this bakery on Yelp while searching for a tres leche cake. Out of all the bakeries that I contacted, this one was the friendliest by phone (definitely not the closest), but I love to support local businesses, especially when the owner has pride and a passion for his craft (crazy, I was able to sense this during our 30 second phone call!). Upon, walking into the bakery, my first thoughts were: clean, quaint and stylish, yet homely. I was warmly greeted by the owner. I informed him that I was interested in a quarter sheet tres leche cake and he immediately knew what I wanted. His suggestions: white frosting (semi-sweet and extremely fluffy), pecan filling and garnish with fresh strawberry and nectarine topping. After placing my order, he had asked if I have ever tried his tres leche cake before and I replied "no, but it's ok, I trust you" his response, "this sample (6 inch square) is on me, I make the best tres leche cakes" And he did not lie. The cake was extremely moist, the whipped topping was perfection (not too sweet, fluffy and it FELT guilt free (can't say if it is haha), the fruit was fresh with a nice glaze and best of all the pecan filling was delightful.
