On the far city side of the Woodley Park/Adams Morgan Metro stop is a gem of a takeout place! Classic Chinese,, basic Thai, with a bit American thrown in. Local take out and delivery that is reasonably priced and consistently good. Love the cold sesame noodles with the thick sticky noodles. Crispy beef has some spice to it, and not as crispy as some, but a quality meal. If your at the Omni Shoreham or Wardman Park Marriott this is your place too. read more

I have eaten Chinese food around the world ranging from hole-in-the wall places to 3 Michelin star restaurants in places like Cuba, Tahiti, Hong Kong and good ol' San Francisco. My experience here at Eddie's has led me to conclude that Eddie's is the worst Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. Absolutely horrendous. I ordered the black bean sauce spicy chicken with fried rice. It came with a choice of soup, which I chose the hot and sour soup. The chicken was rubbery and the fried rice was way too oily and had no other ingredients for substance. The soup was beyond acidic, I think they put too much vinegar. I ate a few bites and threw everything out. I got my wife an chicken & corn egg soup and she spit out the first spoonful of soup she had. Here is the kicker though...I ordered the soup originally but they gave me the egg flower soup accidentally. I found out I got the wrong soup when I got back to the hotel room and opened the bag of food. I walked back to the restaurant and told them what happen. As they remade the correct soup for me, I saw the lady pour my incorrect egg flower soup back into the pot where it came from. Eww, what if I had done something to the soup or even drank out of the soup before returning it? That is a big no no in the food industry, reusing food that has been out of your sight, in customers hands. I would avoid Eddie's Cafe at all costs. read more

Look, I don't know why this is anything less than a four-star honestly. It is the best Chinese food we've ever had and the fried dumplings alone are honestly a meal in themselves. Yes, the staff are curt with you, but that's just a quirk of HOW GOOD THIS FOOD IS. I would spent time at LAX to then be crammed into economy on some airline for the next 4 hours just to even have those dumplings again. Got two different dishes and both had absolutely NO taste at all. Not even salt or soy. Adding soy sauce from packet made it worse. Vegetables were cut very large, like they don't care. but at least the broccoli seemed fresh. I was at an event at the Marriot hotel and needed to get good. I am currently not eating meat so I saw that this restaurant had some vegetarian and pescatarian options. I ordered the crab rangoons which were delicious and creamy inside. They came with a decent amount of filling and it was a set of 6. I also ordered the vegetable dumplings and my intention was to get them fried but steamed but the lady never asked me my preference and I didn't realize until I got back to the hotel that they weren't the ones I wanted. There is no seating inside the establishment and it's very small and crowded so maybe three people at a time can stand and order. Recently discovered this inconspicuous Chinese restaurant and I was happy with the quality of the food. It was fairly standard quick Chinese food and what you would expect from this place. I went with a standard order of Chicken and broccoli and fried rice. It was a little bland at first but a quick dash of soy sauce fixed it right up. Eddie's Café is a great hole in the wall place for Chinese carry out. They actually have some pretty good selection of both Chinese and Thai dishes. The food is made quickly to order and the kitchen staff were friendly. I ordered eggrolls and drunken noodles with shrimp. The noodles were nice and chewy and the shrimp are large and plump. The sauce was delicious. The eggrolls were crisp and very tasty. I also ordered a cold noodle salad with the sesame or peanut base. Those were OK but not quite as flavorful. They do have additional fresh hot chili oil that you can get if you ask for it. I went to this restaurant because I was craving some comfort food and fast carry out. They nailed it. my friend and I had ordered delivery earlier today from Eddies and the driver had rudely called my friend the N word after she refused to tip him when he was talking to her very aggressively. The driver refused to hand her our food until she had to GRAB it from him and he then proceeded to follow her and scream "YOU N****". When it comes to Chinese carry outs, you really only need to eat at any given place once to know if it's any good or not. This joint takes the mark in it having quality food for a fair price. I got general tso chicken and the chicken was nice and tender with a very good flavor of sauce. This is another hole in the wall joint, with no indoor seating but does have outdoor. You can also get the Old Town Trolley tickets here, which is useful. I certainly don't have a need for that but it's worth mentioning for those who are. Was in DC a few weeks ago for a conference and was staying at the Omni Shoreham hotel, did a little search prior to checking in and found out about this place. First off, the food is pretty damn good. We ordered chau fan, chicken and broccoli, hot & sour soup, and as shrimp dish. All were cooked right and were tasty as hell. If I'm ever back in this part of DC, definitely make a visit here again. It's a small spot with only a little outdoor seating, about a block away from the hotel. The prices are about what you'd expect for a takeout place ($10-$13 for a dish) and they prepare the food pretty quickly. Must have ordered three or four times, and the only hiccup was with one ordered they gave us the lunch specials, instead of full dishes (the lunch specials are a bit of a rip off), but when we called about it and asked to get the full meals, they obliged us with no issues. Order the red curry with chicken. Seriously so delicious with lots of basil and tender chicken. Large portions, it fed my husband and me for two meals. We usually also get the tofu and vegetables which has fried tofu in a yummy soy sauce and lots of good veggies like baby corn and snow peas. The fried rice combination is really great because there is a good number of ingredients. The only problem is, the amount of oil is too much. Some fried rice from thai and panda has very little oil and even moist with the texture of the egg that clings with the rice.
