The fastest carry out service I've ever experienced hands down. Plus the food was amazing first carry out in dc I've gone to that doesn't over cook the general tso chicken.

I don't even know how to describe the energy in this place, but you can just feel it the moment you walk in. The restaurant has a dark aesthetic that gives it such a cool, cozy ambiance. My daughter and I ordered the Dan Dan noodles and spicy wontons. Everything was so filling that we ended up ordering another bowl of the Dan Dan noodles! And honestly, I still crave them. The Dan Dan noodles were SO good. The sauce was the perfect combination of creamy and spicy, and there was a generous amount of minced pork that balanced everything out really well. The wontons paired perfectly with the chili sauce that came with them! They were spicy--my ears turned red and my nose started running--but I literally could not stop going back for another bite. Even the wontons alone were incredibly filling. I don't live anywhere near this place, and I genuinely wish I did. I traveled pretty far to get here, and I'd absolutely do it again. Food: I ordered the Jjajangmyeon which was scrumptious! The roasted black bean sauce added some sweetness to the savory flavor oozing out of the shrimp and scallops. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the cucumber on top helped cooled the dish. I also ordered a side of cabbage kimchi which was the perfect addition to my meal. The restaurant itself has a very relax atmosphere, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn they offer a happy hour with some great deals. I didn't get a chance to take advantage of it this visit, but it's definitely given me another reason to come back soon. Whether you're ordering delivery or dining in, Chiko continues to impress. The broccoli was crispy, the beef was moist. No thickening flavor like flour or corn starch was evident in its tasty sauce. It wasn't even too salty. Go figure! The egg drop soup was a genuine highlight -- well-seasoned, silky texture, the kind of soup that's better than it has any right to be for a quick order. The pork dumplings were fine but a bit doughy -- could've used a touch more crisp or a thinner wrapper to let the filling stand out more. Sushi-wise, things picked back up. Got the tuna roll, yellowtail scallion roll, and spicy scallop roll, and the fish quality across all three was solid -- fresh, clean cuts, nothing that tasted off or like an afterthought, which isn't always a given at a spot with this kind of unassuming storefront. We loved the magnolia blossom oolong tea. Some misses on the menu for us were the chicken wonton soup that had too subtle a flavor palette for me, veggie dumplings which had a little too strong a flavor for both of us, and the charcoal bao with custard that was overall just not to our preference. Hard to believe because there was nobody at the bar for HH but I'm not sure why everything was moving at a snail pace. Aside from that, the food came out in great time! HH-they have a very limited HH drink list and the better options were the HH bites. I'm not sure if that's intentional but we were hoping for more HH drink options. HH drinks: I ordered the only cocktail on the menu, the Golden flower. This drink was very satisfying and light. A perfect mix of gin, pineapple juice, and Montecristo. My boyfriend ordered a beer, Tsingtao. He said that it was tasty and smooth. HH Bites: Pan Fried Pork Dumplings- Absolutely scrumptious but the paired sauce was overpowered by salt. We had to stop using the sauce in order to enjoy the dumplings. Char Siu Bao- Star of the menu! This was SO good! The Bao was soft and sweet in taste while the meat inside packed a surprising taste in each bite. Such a delectable dish. Dan Dan Noodles- the spice on this dish is powerful but the flavors are SO good! I'd rate the spice level a 9, be prepared to chug water after each bite. This dish was spicyyyyy but not the kind of spice which overpowers the food, you could still taste all of the other fresh ingredients added for a bite of culinary balance. I probably won't return for HH but would definitely come back for their weekend brunch and likely dinner. I think both of those times might offer a little better experience and it's clear that they know how to prepare some delicious food so why not return.

Wild how they make so much tasty vegan stuff. Although, my Korean fried Chick'n sandwich definitely needed more accompanying tater tots ( I had maybe 10). Food came out super fast. Service has to be 3 stars though. Our server said the gochujang mayo wasnt spicy, when gochujang is (it's got a mildly strong kick that quickly evens out/dissipates) so that's just incorrect to tell people who can't handle heat. More importantly, we were all done with desert at roughly 9pm and it wasn't until 9:40, despite multiple moments of eye contact from a few of us, that our server even came to our table to clear our plates. We'd all clearly been done, not even nibbling, for almost that whole time. In that time, other than his regular duties, our server seemed to do other idle things or "end of the evening" tasks, setting up other tables, stacking plates on them, etc. instead of checking on us. Again, a few of us made eye contact a couple times, which can indicate (along with none of us having touched our plates for 5-10 minutes) that we're done. Other plates had been cleared almost right away. We were also all left wanting for water at the end as no other staff came by to see if we needed more. So yeah, not thrilled about that. Also, it was weirdly a smidge too warm in Planta Queen tonight. I suspect the AC just wasn't on as strong because of the AQI in DC (on June 17, 2026) but it was noticeable.
