Stopped in to check out some bikes as I haven't owned one in probably 10 years. I let the young gentleman who greeted me know I had no knowledge of what options they had available and needed some guidance, so he pointed me to a section of the store to check out some bikes and then walked away, never came back to check on me or explain in detail anything about the bikes... so I left. Compared to the 3 other bike shops I visited (Lakewood and Fairview Park) folks there were much more attentive and excited to explain details about the various bicycles/brands they sell. I took my son's specialized to the N.O. Eddy's with a rounded crankset gear that was skipping. The clerk charged me nearly $300 that would make the bike "like new". When I picked the bike up I could see the gear was still rounded. The same clerk told me the problem was not the gear but a chain issue which they resolved. I brought it back after my son rode it again with the same skipping. Their response was to not use gear 2, keep it in 1 or 3. Purchased my mountain bike from Eddy's, and was initially seemed that it was a good choice, but this ended up not being true at all. The salesman really hyped up their warranty and made it sound like I wouldn't have any issues at all, but when I took it in for service several weeks later, I had a number of issues. Firstly, I needed a minor wheel truing. The staff member kept overestimating how bad the damage was and kept saying it was gonna need a major wheel truing, which they charge more for, as opposed to a minor truing. Frustrated, I relented. THEN he started dissing my choice of bike-- saying it wasn't built well, it's not designed for what I'm using it for, and that I needed to upgrade my wheels or my bike so it wouldn't happen again. He kept insisting that my off balance wheel was gonna go right back to the way it was before truing. (It didn't). I started getting really ticked off that he was trying to upsell me on something when all I needed was my bike fixed! My second issue was that the brakes on my bike were squeaking. The same staff member ASSURED me that the brakes were covered under the warranty and would be fixed no issue. When I picked up the bike, I forgot to check while I was there that they actually got fixed. When I took the bike out the next day to ride, I immediately noticed that the brakes were still squeaky and their behavior hadn't changed at all. Frustrated, I decided to just go to another bike shop to get them fixed. My third issue is that a few days after their failed service, I received an email from Eddy's asking for some feedback. I respectfully explained my issues, and they assured me someone would reach out to correct my experience. They lied. It's been three weeks and I've received nothing. Zero attempts to rectify my situation. This was the final straw for me and led to me writing this review. It's really hard to support a local business when they insist they have good customer service but then ghost you when you have a problem. On July 22, 2019, between 5pm and 530pm, I went into the North Olmsted store with my two daughters to buy a Yamaha electric bicycle. I spent a half hour walking around aimlessly, looking around, touching the bikes, and the staff never greeted me or offered to help me. Therefore, I left without buying anything and will go somewhere else who wants my business. The staff were just bsing with themselves and never offered to help me. Jimmy, check your cameras. You will see. Update: August 3, 2019 Everyone complains that consumers buy online and not support their local businesses but when customers do go into the store, they get treated like they don't exist. If they have seen me as a commodity, they would have waited on me. Additionally, I have made attempts to contact your company but you have ignored my communications and refused to respond. It seems that you are okay with your employees to treat customers as they have that day. read more

Edit: I ended up having a great experience at Spin bike shop in Lakewood and purchased a bike there. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for an alternative to Eddy's. I had a great experience here last summer when I bought my daughter a bike. I returned this year for myself hoping for another great experience, but unfortunately I did not get one. A salesperson approached me and I explained what I was looking for. They immediately tried to get me to look at different styles of bikes I was not interested in. When I expressed interest in a bike they told me they wouldn't recommend it, and made it sound like a bad bike. When I asked about a different bike that's the same type I wanted, same thing. I asked about a cheaper model of the same type they recommended and sure enough that was bad too. It seemed like they only wanted to sell me one specific bike and that every other bike I was interested in was bad. I don't know why they sell those other bikes if they're bad. I got the impression they wanted to sell me something I didn't want at a high price. I got uncomfortable, thanked them for their time and left. I assume not all salespeople at this store work with customers the same way but I don't plan to return. read more

Just because you are one of the lucky retail stores deemed essential does not give you the right to be rude or self righteousness. Just because you have "empty spaces" and sold most of your inventory does not give you permission to be rude or appear bothered to explain bikes to me . Don't tell me to go research online and then come back and get what you want. For a $700 bike you can spend a little time to try to sell me and explain the product. Lucky you and your business that you did not have to lay-off your people and God Bless that your business is profiting during these difficult times. I chose to go to century cycle shop in Rocky River and buy my bike because I have a choice and I chose hospitality and kindness over rude and self righteousness. Do not shop at Eddys under any circumstance. I went in with an inner tube and wanted 2 duplicate replacement tubes with a presta valve. I get the tubes home and they have me Schrader valves. I brought them back on 8/28/19 and there were no apologies from the staff, only surly attitude! This was out of my way! I am done with Eddys bike shop for good. Just wanted to give a shout out to an AWESOME employee. Yesterday during the Sweet Corn Challenge, Jason was so helpful. Early in the ride, when one of my bike cables snapped, he replaced the cable in about 5 minutes. Just great service! Later when there was a downpour around 1 pm, he invited about 15 bike riders to huddle under the Eddy's service tent. His fun sense of humor had us all laughing during the downpour. Great guy. Very nice looking shop with a large selection of cycling gear. Staff is very young and knowledgeable. However, a sheer lack of professionalism was irritating enough for me to just want to buy what I needed and leave. If it wasn't for the sure nature of buying a bike that has been hard to find in stock anywhere I would have taken my business else where. It took a manager to finally give me the help I needed. I had a very special client who was preparing for a triathlon, so I wanted to surprise her with something special. I had found the exact item she wanted, and called over to ask about it. The person I spoke to on the phone was very dismissive, and would not take the part numbers from Eddy's website to verify that they were referring to the correct item. They assured me that the item was in stock at another location an hour away, and that it would be set aside for me. When I arrived at that store, no-one had called ahead, and the item that they had in stock was not the same as the one I had been looking for. It was a huge waste of my time and simply awful customer service (on the part of the North Olmsted store - the other store did their best to help me out). Excellent bicycle shop, and then some! My 6 year old daughter needed a good quality bike which to learn to ride on, and the low-pressure salesperson was extremely friendly and informative. The price was right too. This same store also sold me a hybrid bike a few years ago, and it needed repairs. The bill was much lower than I thought it would be, and my bike, which had not been ridden in 2 years, felt new again. I am amazed at the selection of bikes and gear at this shop as well. I was shopping around for a new bike from the various shops around Cleveland. I found a potential one at Eddy's but noticed it had no kick stand. I asked if they would put one on for me and they said they would but they would charge me $10-12. I told him that other places do offer free kickstands, especially on a $600 bike. But the guy swore up and down that no bike shop does that. It wasn't so much the $10 that bothered me, it was the whole vibe the guy and the shop gave me. It just felt like these guys try to pinch every penny out of you, I wouldn't be surprised if the guy had offered me a protection plan..... Great Service and support...I am a life long rider and have bought 2k+ rides from several shops across the country. Eddies is up there with the best! Unlike some other Bike shops in the NEO area, Eddies has always treated me right!. I made a very expensive mistake buying from a small local shoppe, that took advantage and sold me a Custom Built Ride with incompatible parts... They promised to stand behind the ride, but after less than a year, and 3 trips to address the problem they explained the wheel set was incompatible to the build (they made) and would need to be replaced in order for the bike to function as sold; for only 80.00 a wheel. A discounted price because I bought the bike from them. So another 160.00 to get the Bike to ride as built and sold? The Blazing deal I thought I got from the other guy, made me appreciate Eddie's all the more. Eddies has never lied to me and has gone above and beyond several times to help me stay riding... I am sorry I went somewhere else. I would have had a better ride for less money and certainly less hassle. Buying local, and supporting the Mom and Pop is only good if what you buy is wroth what you paid, this was a 1000.00 lesson learned. read more

Found the shorts I wanted, stood at the register to pay for a couple of minutes with no one bothering to ask if I needed help. I went in to look for phone mount and a new tube for my bike and the Cretan of a salesperson was anything but helpful. I didn't have the tube width available right away; one those on the tip of my tongue things. However I had asked where the display was merely to be courteous as I have been there before and recognized the box of the proper tube. Meanwhile she continued to harangue me on the proper width as to inform me that an improper width would not work. I did it appreciate being treated like an idiot. This was extra frustrating as there were other customers in the store and only the one useless sales associate while the other three stood around the counter bantering about. This is very disappointing as this used to be my go to hometown bike shop. Save yourself some discourteous interaction and go to century cycles, blazing saddles, or joy machines. read more

I was there to buy some handlebars. I asked the kid working there what kind they had. I was looking for some risers. All I got from this guy was "handlebars are hard you have to know your rise how wide etc. " tried to tell him I had all that info but he just gave the a deer in the headlights look. They never have what you need on hand always have to order. These people don't seem to know what they are doing. Better off buying online and learning how to fix it yourself. Eddie's is the next competition to Century Cycles in Rocky River. They repair, sell bikes and equipment. The prices are fairly high now that bikes are in higher demand. They carry a VERY large selection of road bike, mountain bikes and hybrids. Take a test ride and take your wallet cause it's gonna cost you several hundred dollars for a decent bike. The staff is friendly and you can get the cyclist clothing and helmets there too. The repairs for bicycles can get costly there though. It's very similar to repairing your car, you can get "shocked" with a repair cost. This is a popular shop in North Olmsted and has been for several years so take a look if your in the market. Compare and even see if Century will beat prices on same models and vice versa, it works I've done it before to save $100. Just depends on who you want to have your hard earned money! It's a competitive market do what you can is my tip! Have fun riding! read more

i've been wandering into some bike shops to look for a new road bike. i walked in here and was greeted fairly quickly by a gentleman asking if i needed help. good start. i asked him, i'm looking for a new road bike, i'm just getting started. he leads me over to one rack of women's road bikes and picks out one for me, it's a given i need the smallest, and has me try it out. so i hop on with him holding it and am like.. ok this seems nice. but that was as good as it got. i was offered no explanations or advice on figuring out if the bike fit. no offer to take it on a spin. there other options were offered. i pointed to another bike and asked, how about that one? and all i got was, yeah the components on that one are better. i'm gonna chalk it up to i'm so pretty that he was left speechless. i dunno what else to say. i was looking to buy something, but the salesman didn't want to sell me on anything. great, thanks. read more
