I noticed this while on my lunch break and I've been longing for a health food restaurant nearby. However this isn't your typical restaurant, more like a cafe that specializes in açaí bowls, coffee, and matcha. I ordered the salted caramel matcha and an extra packet of sugar (which I didn't use). All I can say is that this is the best matcha I've tasted. Not too grassy lol and very smooth and sweet tasting. The outside is well maintained and the inside is clean. The cashier was very pleasant and welcoming! Upon exiting, what I believe to be a manager or owner was very nice and provided a great salutation! I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu!

Shout out to Laura, the owner, for turning a not so good experience into a great one! She reached out for feedback and invited me back in to give them another try. This time I had the nut butter toast and egg bites along with a mini bowl. Everything was so good, but the best part is I ran into Laura while picking up my food, and she was just as courteous irl. It's clear she's passionate about her stores and sets a high bar. I look forward to coming back to try more of the menu!

The ambiance was decent. I had been wanting to try this café since they opened and finally had time today. I ordered 3 drinks and only 2 were correct. I should have known from looking at it. I was given coffee and tea. Once I got home I realized the mistake. Also, I didn't realize their matcha wasn't made to order(pre-mixed). The drinks were also overloaded with ice. Perhaps, I'll try them once more.

I had to ask twice for my order and had ti wait 45 minutes for a small simple acai bowel. Crowded staff and very unorganized.

We ordered a mocha and a latte with oat milk. I had mine with vanilla and caramel, and even added extra simple syrup. Unfortunately, the drinks just didn't stand out. I found myself sipping more for the caffeine than the flavor, and by the end, I couldn't really remember the taste. I was hoping to recreate that rich, memorable coffee experience I've had in Asheville, but this didn't quite hit the same. That said, I do appreciate the atmosphere and the friendly service, so I'd be open to giving it another try in the future.

I've been to several of their locations around the Charlotte area and they all share the same strengths: consistently great coffee, friendly baristas, and a calm, grounded atmosphere that makes even a quick stop feel like a small reset in the day. This particular shop isn't large, and the laptop crowd has definitely discovered it. There are only a handful of tables, so I felt genuinely lucky to land the last open one and settle in with my cortado. The drink was exactly what I expect from Summit every time, rich and balanced and served with the kind of quiet confidence that comes from a place that knows what it's doing. I opened the laptop, got a bit of work done, and enjoyed the rhythm of the room as people drifted in and out. And when the cortado was gone, so was I. It's the kind of space where I felt a gentle responsibility to make room for the next person once I've had your moment, especially on a busy morning. Even with its small footprint, it remains one of the most dependable coffee experiences in the area, and I always leave feeling like the stop was worth it. If you've tried their other locations, this one will feel familiar in the best way. If you haven't, it's a great introduction to what Summit does so well. Their drink menu seemed a bit weak, but I did appreciate how they had complimentary water. I liked how they were located inside the Pavilion...and how they had such a nice, spacious area outside of the shop to leisurely enjoy your treats! I was in a hurry, so just picked up 2 Choux pastries to go...and honestly, they weren't the best Choux that I've had. Still, I was glad to see that they had them here. If I was to return, I would probably try something else. In any case, good to see another bakery in the Southpark area.

For a place known for its baked goods, that was pretty disappointing. The French onion soup was especially underwhelming, extremely heavy and oversalted, to the point that it was hard to enjoy more than a couple bites. On the positive side, the staff was friendly and did their best to manage the situation. Still, between the long wait and the disappointing food, the experience fell short. I might consider giving it another try once everything is fully up and running, but this visit missed the mark.

Review for Amélie's French Bakery & Café…read more As a transplant from the West Coast--specifically San Francisco, where high-quality bakeries and true French pâtisseries are plentiful--I was genuinely excited to try Amélie's after moving to Charlotte. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing, and after giving it more than one chance, it's simply not a place I plan to return to. The concept feels more like a themed destination than a serious bakery. The interior is whimsical and eye-catching, with decorative elements like a faux Eiffel Tower, which clearly appeals to visitors looking for a fun atmosphere. However, if you've spent time in authentic French cafés or bistros, you know the real charm is understated elegance--wood, mirrors, tile, and craftsmanship. This felt more theatrical than authentic. Where it fell short for me was the food. For a place calling itself a French bakery and pâtisserie, the absence of classic laminated pastries was surprising. I was expecting staples like Napoleons, kouign-amann, or beautifully executed croissants. What I found instead were pastries that looked average and lacked the refinement and technique you'd expect from a true pâtisserie. On my visits, I tried: * A leek soup that was supposed to be cream-based but tasted thin and under-seasoned--more like warm vegetable water than a properly developed soup. * A baguette sandwich with fig, Brie, and apple that sounded promising but was poorly executed. The bread was overly hard, and the balance of ingredients felt off, making the sandwich less enjoyable than expected. I gave Amélie's two chances, hoping the second visit would change my impression. It didn't. To be fair, the café clearly has a loyal following and works well as a social or casual gathering spot. But if you're specifically looking for high-quality French pastries or refined bakery craftsmanship, there are stronger options in the Charlotte area. Personally, I'd recommend: * Renaissance Patisserie for more traditional European-style pastries * Paris Baguette at Rea Farms for consistency and better execution * Or trusted local favorites closer to home Bottom line: Fun atmosphere, but the food didn't meet expectations for a French bakery. After multiple visits, it's a pass for me.
