Charming family run business. We had the pleasure of discovering the Royal Creperie when we first moved to the area. The family is very welcoming and attentive to customers. Today we had the pleasure of meeting Tara the Sister in Law of the owner Alexis. Tara gave excellent service. We came in near closing time, but she still served us which I really appreciated. The Florentine crepes we ordered were delicious. They also have a vast variety of hot sauces to choose from which was nice. They have an extensive selection of crepes and coffees that really hit the spot. Their location has easy parking and is nearby many attractions in the Matthew's area. It's a small cafe in Matthews, NC just outside of Charlotte off of Independence Blvd. It's not your formal sit down restaurant; you order and pay at the counter then they bring the food to you. The decor is very outdated but everything was clean. The menu was simple which I love. They offer sweet and savory crepes. Order: Bavarian Cream Crepe It's filled with a Bavarian cream, topped with strawberries, strawberry/chocolate drizzle and whipped cream; but I had my drizzle on the side. The taste was wonderful, the cream wasn't too sweet and the strawberries were fresh. I think the drizzle would have been too sweet on top so it was a good idea to have it on the side to dip instead (for extra sweetness if I wanted). Me and one of my daughters dropped by to see what RC had on their menu for fall. And as always, we were not disappointed, not in the least. We both ordered the Philly Cheese Steak crepe and split it, and then we ordered the apple pie crepe and split it, too. The icing on the cake was the roasted s'mores lattes they brought to our table, complete with roasted marshmallows on a skewer! The restaurant is always clean, and the staff is always so extra friendly and helpful if you need assistance with deciding on one of the gazillion amazing items off their menu. My third time visiting this location and DELICIOUS every single time! This time came on a Sunday around 12pm and was surpringly not full. No line to order and plenty of table options to choose from. This place is a bit small on the inside. Does have a few tables to choose from but all super close to one another but it's no biggie. They do have a few outside tables on their patio. The owner is always super friendly, pleasant and appreciative that you have decided to dine into her restaurant. I ordered the Chipotle chicken crepe with a Cortado and OMG *Chefs Kiss" it was definitely the right brunch option for me and very flavorful. Im definitely ordering this again whenever I decide to go back there and eat. The cortado is strong just how I like it. I added some vanilla to it and it was not overly sweet at all. They have a variety of sweet crepes , lunch and brunch crepes to choose from. The crepes are huge and will definitely fill you up. It has been years since I visited this place, what has changed? I will say nothing, it is still a great place to get crepes. I love my Cordon Bleu crepes, it was crispy and the honey mustard just goes perfectly with it. The service was excellent, the owner has a passion about the place and takes great care of us. Ok, love the menu and loved the taste of my crepe, but had it had twice the filling, I would have been happy. For 12.00I got one slice of Turkey , deli meat, 3 raisins, some cranberry sauce and so little Brie I had to look for it. Had it been 5.00 that would have been fine. The taste was there but they skimped on ingredients which made it not even filling. My husband asked for no bacon and they at least could have thrown it in my fall special. I had a glass of lemonade for 5.50 which came out after my meal was finished as well which is not good. There was a Russian couple who were getting all this stuff brought out to them while I had no drink. So, I would say I enjoyed the taste but for 35.00 for lunch and still be hungry, well , I will try another place next time. The idea of the place is great so either put more stuff in the crepes or reduce the price. I had a really disappointing experience my first time here-- they gave me a RAW CREPE! We ordered ahead online and when we got there ~15mins later they were quite busy and hadn't started our order. Also the online system was a bit weird to us, so they wanted to ask us some clarifying questions about our food. The lady also asked me if I wanted my crepe "crispy or regular style" and then seemed ticked off that I didn't know what that meant, even though I didn't see that option anywhere online or on the menu. I chose regular, with just strawberries, whipped cream, powdered sugar and butter. We waited a few minutes in the busy area, trying very hard to make ourselves out of the way, but failing. it's just so small in the dining area. That's also why we ordered ahead. When we got our food my crepe was completely RAW!! Also they forgot the powdered sugar and butter (on my VERY SIMPLE order). If I didn't know any better I'd think they had something against me...?? and the whipped cream of course melted immediately because it's not stabilized. That's actually pretty amateur for a place that only sells crepes. Will not be returning. read more

A little gem of a creperie you do not want to miss in Matthews! We got to the restaurant when they just opened for the day. The woman greeted us warmly, of which I assume must be the proprietor. She shared the menu and walked us through some recommendations. We decided to go with Florentine, a Hamster, and a Bavarian Cream dessert! The veggies in my Florentine were so fresh. The Hamster was nicely done, too, and non-skimpy with the ingredients. The Bavarian was fully loaded with goodness and indeed heavenly, where it was not overly sweet. The crepes were all delicious on their own. They make great coffee, too, perfect pairing with any crepe. The restaurant is a European-style cafe, neat, upbeat, and no-nonsense, and takes pride in what it makes. The food is hand-prepared efficiently and timely, and the service is excellent! Ok hear me out...Philly. Cheesesteak. Crepe... It may not sound like the best thing ever, but it IS the best thing ever! The steak is so tender and it has the perfect amount of cheese, onions & peppers. The Bavarian cream crepe is also a great choice if you are into a sweet crepe and the Bavarian cream is homemade & so so delicious. I didn't love the strawberry lemonade, they add some type of fizz or club soda to it which to me made it taste watered down & not the sweet, tart flavor I was expecting, but other than that everything else I've tried has been amazing. Omg so glad I found this cafe! It's in a cute little shopping center with a good amount of parking. The shop is small but very cute. It also takes a little while to get your order if they're super busy since they can only make so many at a time. We tried the BLT crepe and the Philly Cheesesteak Crepe as entrees. They were SO tasty and delicious I could go back and get them again today. They were also fairly large and filling so the pricing made sense. For dessert we tried one filled with Nutella, strawberry, and banana. SO GOOD. We shared it and they were nice enough to split the order so we had our own portions. We also tried a latte, I believe it was called an almond crisp latte, and it had just the slightest taste of almond and wasn't too sweet, delicious. Took off one star because two guys ordered a few people after us, had a similar order, but got their order before us which didn't make any sense.
