This past weekend had the opportunity to visit Amelie's and what a cute spot....loved the ambiance. Besides all the wonderful treats here, it is a very quaint place. I loved the decor and the staff was great as well. We stopped here after dinner on our way back to the convention we were attending. I got some treats to enjoy back at the hotel...I ordered the Biscoff cheesecake, lemon bar, pecan and key lime tart....all were delightful by the way! Went for a little birthday celebration as a brunch and coffee but my opinion has charged a lot on this place. I've been here for coffee and pastries before but it was many years ago and I was not originally paying For a place that charges hearty prices for everything I find it astounding that we have to order at a counter, AND put away our own plates afterwards. It also makes no sense to me that we had to wait for our coffee at the counter but our food is already brought to us at our table. It's not even the employees faults- it's the design of the restaurant process. The food tasted good but almost everyone (7 people) said some aspect of it was cold and should have been at least warm. Both French toasts? Cold. Croissant sandwich? Cold. Either way, I wouldn't come back for food specifically to eat. The employees were all helpful but definitely understaffed on a weekend in my opinion. They did the best they could and were nice. In my opinion after a handful of years- the decor seems tacky. It all is mismatched and just looks beat up- not vintage or antique so that it seems kinda random. I feel like in 2015 this style or idea was popular and kitschy but now ...maybe I've just grown up The pastries were good but also super expensive. So choose wisely! read more

Out of towner here for work. Stopped by Amelie's on our first morning headed to work. We usually stop by a pipular chain coffee place because they are everywhere. But we saw Amelie's close by our jobsite. I ordered Matcha tea which was a typical Matcha. My coworkers ordered different coffees and a Matcha Expresso. They also ordered breakfast biscuit sandwiches which they loved. Filled w fluffy egg, sausage and cheese in between a house made fresh biscuit! They raved about the biscuits!! Another ordered a breakfast wrap and was not impressed. We have stopped here every morning for the past 4 mornings. We will stop each morning for the next 14 days. So far no one has tried any pastry but they have many selections, all made in house and it tempts me each morning. Before we leave NC I will try some pastries and update my review. The interior is quaint, quiet and calming. Its a large place w mismatched chairs and tables. It the type of place I would find in my hometown of San Diego. Coffee/drink service is slow. The same workers who take orders from the pastry counter make the drinks behind a different counter. The employees are very friendly. In terms of food, the French toast was fine (3.5/5; I liked the berries but the flavor fell flat), biscuit sandwich (3.5/5; decent flavor but bojangles is honestly better), breakfast bowl (2.5/5; this dish was supposed to come with eggs, potatoes, cheese and bacon...please explain why I had a SINGLE roasted potato in the whole container?! My bestie suggested going to Amelie's for our coffee date because we always get coffee at when we're together and I'm in town. I went to their website and saw they had seasonal macarons and I just knew I had to come here to try them. So, since it was breakfast time, we got the strawberry cream cheese danish to share, we got 6 macarons (I got honey, strawberry cheesecake, and chocolate ganache and she got cotton candy, red velvet and lavender lemon), I also got a salted caramel mocha latte and she got the strawberry white chocolate latte. 1. The danish was so delightful. The pastry was soft and flaky, tasted very fresh. The cheese was light and creamy and paired so well with the strawberry slices and what I believe was honey drizzle. It wasn't too sweet and was a nice bite to my coffee. 2. My latte was strong and definitely tasted the caramel without losing the espresso flavor. The half and half made it creamy and smooth. My bestie didn't enjoy it much because she's not much of a coffee drinker and was hoping it would be a bit sweeter but she did say it was good for someone who loves coffee. 3. My macarons were the star of the show. The chocolate ganache was soft creamy and decadent. Very strong chocolate flavor of what you'd expect from a ganache. The strawberry cheesecake one had cream and a strawberry jam center and it was sweet and tart. The shells were light with a slight crunch. The honey macaron was probably my favorite. Now the shell was a bit crunchier giving it more cookie texture but nonetheless the honey flavor was there and it was a little sweeter than the others but it was the perfect balance to the bitterness of the coffee. The macarons were pretty big and I believe $2.85 for one and for a 6 pack was $15 and some change. I think everything together was around $34. It's such a cute cafe and I'd love to come again and try some other dishes and drinks. read more

Their new service model needs some refinement for sure. For the second time I've had issues with my food sitting in the back window and getting cold because no one was able to bring it to the front window and call my name. When you have a brand new person working the orders and register who needs help you need extra people manning the back window to bring food forward that is ready. Today I had ordered soup and quiche and there was a line of people waiting for their food. Mine was just sitting in the back window getting cold. Then they were bagging up to go orders for people who weren't even here yet! You need more people keeping an eye on orders for here that are ready. I love how you can see them making pastries in the back. I've grown up around French food and there's not much competition in Charlotte when it comes to a French bakery. The croissants? 10 out of 10. I wish their eclairs were larger or had more than one filling to choose from but mmm! The uptown location is so unique that when I'm there tourists film it with their mouths open in awe. Super cute French themed bakery and cafe . The inside decor welcomes you to this whimsical space filled with antique pieces hanging from the striped painted walls and ceiling. The bakery features many popular French pastries , like macarons, eclairs , crème brûlée , tarts and more . The one French desert I was disappointed not to see on the menu is my fave : profiteroles. I hope they consider adding this delicious dessert to their repertoire. So instead we opted for the Chocolate Petit Gateaux , simple syrup soaked chocolate chiffon, chocolate mousse filled and covered in chocolate ganache, masked in feuilletine. I am really sad leaving this review. My husband and I have been coming to these bakeries all around Charlotte for 10+ years. Today I went in to use my birthday reward and it was all just a disaster. The girl was kind but clearly had no idea what she was doing. She charged me full price, used none of my points (I had about $10 worth) and then claimed to refund me but she didn't. Full charge is still on my bank account. Just overall really upset. I feel like it could've been made right easily and wasn't. Disappointed. They have such good pastries and coffees too! I had a fantastic experience at Amelie's French Bakery. I have traveled to Paris France numerous times, their baked goods and pastries are to die for! I never expected to find anything in the States that would come close to the confections of Paris. Well, I am here to tell you that Amelie's surpassed my expectations and it was love at first bite!!! This restaurant/bakery brought me back to a sidewalk cafe right in the heart of Paris without leaving my city. They do a tremendous business and the lines are long, trust me it is worth the wait. The staff is friendly and courteous. I have gone back there often especially when I'm craving an authentic macaroon. I enjoyed the decorations inside. It was interesting! The staff were all nice and helpful when I asked questions. The food was delicious! I ordered a white chocolate mocha which was delicious. It was the perfect amount of sweet. I also bought the cheese danish and chocolate coconut. I'm not usually a fan of coconut but I wish I bought more! The cheese danish was also tasty and left me wanting more. I will be visiting again! I chose to make my own sandwich which came out good. I have driven by this place several times and finally had a chance to stop in to get some treats. There is plenty of parking in the shared parking lot. It's a very large bakery they are fully staffed. However, there are numerous signs posted that they are hiring and I could see why they were extremely busy. This is a chain and they have a variety of treats to spark your taste buds and some tasty sandwiches as well along with coffee. Because it's a larger shop with a lot of people coming in and out cleanliness can get lost in some of the daily hygienic practices may be forgotten or not applied. The staff were friendly. I'm sorry to say that although the renovations and decor are great the baked goods leave much to be desired. I went on different days and so far I've had three different pastries and they were either flavorless or rancid except for the he tiramisu which was good. But the utensils... I try not to use plastic but had no choice but to use the disposable plastic utensils every single time I've been there because every fork and spoon I took out of the containers looked like they were taken from the dirty dish pile. I used to think this was the "Cat's Meow" when it came to desserts...but now that I'm fully spoiled from venturing into so many lofty Asian bakeries throughout the states (which seemingly has many more pastry and other varieties), I'm just not as impressed. Still, I AM a fan of their fun/funky, French-inspired decor...a la ambiance! This time, however, I noticed how empty the place has become. There were alot less people than last time...plus, just alot more space since they seemingly got rid of (or moved?) some tables inside...but saw many tables outside (which is understandable...and Covid conscious!). I also noticed a new, witty wall sign, which states "Please stay BACH at least 6 feet (next to a pic of Bach)"! Love such fun, kitschy things like this here! BTW, we stopped by after a very big dinner...not because we were hungry, but because we just wanted to relax and enjoy the Amelie's vibe. Well, like I just mentioned, the ambiance is still cute, but the place looked somewhat barren (and sad) due to all the missing tables (and people!). One other thing missing was the overhead music. WHERE was the lovely French music?!? Of course, it's simply not possible to stop in without getting some treats, so we got a Fruit Tart and some Macarons to share. As always, they were DEE-Lish, especially the Honey flavor. WOW...I actually forgot to take pics of the desserts we had here! Oh Well. Decided once and for all that their Iced Latte just isn't very good...but I still love their Fruit Tarts and Macarons. I even bought several more macarons to bring home. I understand Covid has made many restaurants, bars, bakeries and cafes weaker, and since I've been such a big fan of Amelie's in the past, I'm only docking a star for a few lackings this time around. Great place to grab food and coffee with a twist. Very organized and their flow is intuitive to new customers. Clean!! Parking is easy and the service is alway with a smile. Of all their locations, this one is probably my favorite. They have some really nice covered outdoor seating when you just want to get away from the noise and bustle of music and kids inside. This was my first time to the location in Pineville. I like that this location is in a small shopping center so finding parking is not a problem! I got there around noon and there was no line. Probably about 30 minutes later, the line got pretty long. I was torn between getting french toast or the croque monsieur. I saw that they had a french toast latte so I decided to get that and the croque monsieur so I could have both sweet and savory. The french toast latte was very sweet as expected. But I'm one of those people who like cream and sugar with just a little coffee so I liked it a lot. The croque monsieur was alright; I thought the dijon mustard was a bit overpowering. I did like that it was made with a croissant instead of just normal bread. I got an almond croissant to go so I could enjoy it later. The almond cream filling was delicious as it was only a little sweet. I was looking forward to getting some macarons but I was a little disappointed that they only had 1 flavor (cookies n' cream). I'm not sure if they just sold out of other flavors or if they just don't usually make a variety here. read more

Honestly, I would have given Amy a good review but given the terrible customer service after spending $50 on pastries and coffee I asked for Amiga glass of ice water which normally was always for free on the counter with a dispenser and they denied me that charge me $.55 for a tapwater glass of water by the way they charged tax on the water because she said 50 and it was $.55 The barista was really sweet a little timid, but very sweet and the pastries taste good but the fact that I was charged for my glass of water, totally ruin the experience and I will not be coming back. Amélie's is fantastic! The ambiance of this place makes you want to spend hours there taking in the whimsical decor and listening to the coffee shop sounds and chatter. The display of beautiful pastries makes your mouth water and there is so much to choose from! I was excited to find some key lime tarts because it's hard not to crave a well-done key lime dessert every once in a while, being from Florida. Aside from the key lime tart, I couldn't resist getting a mini chocolate silk tart as well. I split the Monte cristo sandwich with my boyfriend and we were both impressed and satisfied with it. The combination of turkey, Brie, bacon and cranberry compote was just perfect. And to top it all off, we enjoyed a salted caramel latte as well. It was not too long ago that I visited this flagship restaurant in NoDa. Now it's grown across Charlotte area and into Rock Hill, SC. I met up with GiGi at this location for a glass of their lavender lemonade, it was quite tasty. They have a nice selection of pastries and confections, coffee and tea. I really like their outside covered patio. A great place to meet up and have a quiet conversation. Plenty of free parking. read more

The outdoor patio is my favorite place to perch for a bit to do some remote work - the macarons are literally worth every cent when you can get the perfectly cooked gems. I placed my order & paid online and then called to ask if they could meet me curbside (because I had my toddler with me) & they did!! Their online ordering is easy and staff wears masks. I love Amelie's food for lunch--their turkey croissant sandwiches are incredible. Their salads are delicious and huge. I also love their breakfast sandwiches--available all day. My favorite is bacon, egg and cheese on croissant. Their pastries are wonderful! The macarons are as delicious as the ones from Paris! They were so kind to do curbside for me and great customer service definitely makes me want to go again.
