Went for a little birthday celebration as a brunch and coffee but my opinion has charged a lot on this place. I've been here for coffee and pastries before but it was many years ago and I was not originally paying For a place that charges hearty prices for everything I find it astounding that we have to order at a counter, AND put away our own plates afterwards. It also makes no sense to me that we had to wait for our coffee at the counter but our food is already brought to us at our table. It's not even the employees faults- it's the design of the restaurant process. The food tasted good but almost everyone (7 people) said some aspect of it was cold and should have been at least warm. Both French toasts? Cold. Croissant sandwich? Cold. Either way, I wouldn't come back for food specifically to eat. The employees were all helpful but definitely understaffed on a weekend in my opinion. They did the best they could and were nice. In my opinion after a handful of years- the decor seems tacky. It all is mismatched and just looks beat up- not vintage or antique so that it seems kinda random. I feel like in 2015 this style or idea was popular and kitschy but now ...maybe I've just grown up The pastries were good but also super expensive. So choose wisely!

Out of towner here for work. Stopped by Amelie's on our first morning headed to work. We usually stop by a pipular chain coffee place because they are everywhere. But we saw Amelie's close by our jobsite. I ordered Matcha tea which was a typical Matcha. My coworkers ordered different coffees and a Matcha Expresso. They also ordered breakfast biscuit sandwiches which they loved. Filled w fluffy egg, sausage and cheese in between a house made fresh biscuit! They raved about the biscuits!! Another ordered a breakfast wrap and was not impressed. We have stopped here every morning for the past 4 mornings. We will stop each morning for the next 14 days. So far no one has tried any pastry but they have many selections, all made in house and it tempts me each morning. Before we leave NC I will try some pastries and update my review. The interior is quaint, quiet and calming. Its a large place w mismatched chairs and tables. It the type of place I would find in my hometown of San Diego. Coffee/drink service is slow. The same workers who take orders from the pastry counter make the drinks behind a different counter. The employees are very friendly. I do recommend this place for morning coffee/drinks and breakfast.

We usually stop by when we are in town. If have only ever had their pastries and chai and with that I have never been disappointed. The chai latte is well done which is always a big thing for me. As far as pastries go, I have had something different each time we have gone and everything has been great. Tonight I had a salted caramel brownie torte and loved every bite. It's a great spot for a great sweet tooth!

This spot feels open and welcoming right away with a generously sized indoor area and a handful of outdoor tables for when the weather cooperates . The menu offers plenty to choose from, and the cozy, home-style mugs make it a great place to slow down and enjoy the moment . There is no table service, but everything you might need is thoughtfully set up at an easy-to-access dressing station, which keeps things simple and efficient . Renovations were underway during our visit, yet the atmosphere still felt comfortable and relaxed, and it is easy to imagine how impressive the space must be now . Parking is plentiful and free, whether you grab a close spot or opt for a longer walk to balance out that pastry indulgence . Overall, it is an easygoing place that blends convenience, comfort, and a laid-back vibe very well .

My bestie suggested going to Amelie's for our coffee date because we always get coffee at when we're together and I'm in town. I went to their website and saw they had seasonal macarons and I just knew I had to come here to try them. So, since it was breakfast time, we got the strawberry cream cheese danish to share, we got 6 macarons (I got honey, strawberry cheesecake, and chocolate ganache and she got cotton candy, red velvet and lavender lemon), I also got a salted caramel mocha latte and she got the strawberry white chocolate latte. 1. The danish was so delightful. The pastry was soft and flaky, tasted very fresh. The cheese was light and creamy and paired so well with the strawberry slices and what I believe was honey drizzle. It wasn't too sweet and was a nice bite to my coffee. 2. My latte was strong and definitely tasted the caramel without losing the espresso flavor. The half and half made it creamy and smooth. My bestie didn't enjoy it much because she's not much of a coffee drinker and was hoping it would be a bit sweeter but she did say it was good for someone who loves coffee. 3. My macarons were the star of the show. The chocolate ganache was soft creamy and decadent. Very strong chocolate flavor of what you'd expect from a ganache. The strawberry cheesecake one had cream and a strawberry jam center and it was sweet and tart. The shells were light with a slight crunch. The honey macaron was probably my favorite. Now the shell was a bit crunchier giving it more cookie texture but nonetheless the honey flavor was there and it was a little sweeter than the others but it was the perfect balance to the bitterness of the coffee. The macarons were pretty big and I believe $2.85 for one and for a 6 pack was $15 and some change. I think everything together was around $34. It's such a cute cafe and I'd love to come again and try some other dishes and drinks.

I recently stopped by Amelies. Over the years, I've visited sporadically to pick up a pastry or two. They've got a boatload of pastry options. This time I ordered a meal for the first time. It satisfied my hunger craving. The staff is friendly and the bakery is spacious. You won't feel cramped or claustrophobic in there, that's for sure. I also love how it's never crowded. You won't have to fight through a sea of people just to get your hands on a delicious croissant. When I'm in the area. I'll return.

Amelie's is always a good go to place when you have friends in town. There is a variety of breakfast options, sweet treats and coffee drinks to try! The aesthetic is French bistro with a really nice ambiance. When you walk in you go to the counter and place your order, you get a number and the waitstaff brings your food out. The wait is usually short. This time I got French toast, it was delicious. This is a go to place that we will be back to again and again!

My fave: Croque Monsieur which has an authentic bechamel sauce w/ leek soup with asparagus, spinach, leeks, carrots and potatoes.

I love how you can see them making pastries in the back. I've grown up around French food and there's not much competition in Charlotte when it comes to a French bakery. The croissants? 10 out of 10. I wish their eclairs were larger or had more than one filling to choose from but mmm! The uptown location is so unique that when I'm there tourists film it with their mouths open in awe. It's a vibe, as my daughter would say. Best if you're in the mood for breakfast or a quick brunch/lunch.

Super cute French themed bakery and cafe . The inside decor welcomes you to this whimsical space filled with antique pieces hanging from the striped painted walls and ceiling. The bakery features many popular French pastries , like macarons, eclairs , crème brûlée , tarts and more . The one French desert I was disappointed not to see on the menu is my fave : profiteroles. I hope they consider adding this delicious dessert to their repertoire. So instead we opted for the Chocolate Petit Gateaux , simple syrup soaked chocolate chiffon, chocolate mousse filled and covered in chocolate ganache, masked in feuilletine. We also tried a tart and both desserts were rich and flavorful . We also tried a savory tartine . We chose the fig, bacon and Brie tartine : A thin spread of fig marmalade, with strips of crisp bacon and melted brie on baguette served open face. It was a mix of savory and sweet and the flavors worked together and I would recommend it! Parking : plenty of free parking .

Great service and atmosphere. The selection of pastries was overwhelming, in a good way. So many delicious options! I chose a strawberry cheesecake tart and a small berry salad with celery seed dressing. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Finally, I enjoyed an iced espresso drink with caramel. Will be back! Maybe tomorrow:)

I enjoyed the decorations inside. It was interesting! The staff were all nice and helpful when I asked questions. The food was delicious! I ordered a white chocolate mocha which was delicious. It was the perfect amount of sweet. I also bought the cheese danish and chocolate coconut. I'm not usually a fan of coconut but I wish I bought more! The cheese danish was also tasty and left me wanting more. I will be visiting again! I chose to make my own sandwich which came out good. I was nervous I wasn't going to like it but I loved every bite. I recommend getting goat cheese. Next time I will order from their selection.

I have driven by this place several times and finally had a chance to stop in to get some treats. There is plenty of parking in the shared parking lot. It's a very large bakery they are fully staffed. However, there are numerous signs posted that they are hiring and I could see why they were extremely busy. This is a chain and they have a variety of treats to spark your taste buds and some tasty sandwiches as well along with coffee. Because it's a larger shop with a lot of people coming in and out cleanliness can get lost in some of the daily hygienic practices may be forgotten or not applied. The staff were friendly. My birthday cake macaron was delicious and the cinnamon roll was quite nice. I hope that you enjoy and have a good experience.

I've been to several of their locations around the Charlotte area and they all share the same strengths: consistently great coffee, friendly baristas, and a calm, grounded atmosphere that makes even a quick stop feel like a small reset in the day. This particular shop isn't large, and the laptop crowd has definitely discovered it. There are only a handful of tables, so I felt genuinely lucky to land the last open one and settle in with my cortado. The drink was exactly what I expect from Summit every time, rich and balanced and served with the kind of quiet confidence that comes from a place that knows what it's doing. I opened the laptop, got a bit of work done, and enjoyed the rhythm of the room as people drifted in and out. And when the cortado was gone, so was I. It's the kind of space where I felt a gentle responsibility to make room for the next person once I've had your moment, especially on a busy morning. Even with its small footprint, it remains one of the most dependable coffee experiences in the area, and I always leave feeling like the stop was worth it. If you've tried their other locations, this one will feel familiar in the best way. If you haven't, it's a great introduction to what Summit does so well. Review for Amélie's French Bakery & Café…read more As a transplant from the West Coast--specifically San Francisco, where high-quality bakeries and true French pâtisseries are plentiful--I was genuinely excited to try Amélie's after moving to Charlotte. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing, and after giving it more than one chance, it's simply not a place I plan to return to. The concept feels more like a themed destination than a serious bakery. The interior is whimsical and eye-catching, with decorative elements like a faux Eiffel Tower, which clearly appeals to visitors looking for a fun atmosphere. However, if you've spent time in authentic French cafés or bistros, you know the real charm is understated elegance--wood, mirrors, tile, and craftsmanship. This felt more theatrical than authentic. Where it fell short for me was the food. For a place calling itself a French bakery and pâtisserie, the absence of classic laminated pastries was surprising. I was expecting staples like Napoleons, kouign-amann, or beautifully executed croissants. What I found instead were pastries that looked average and lacked the refinement and technique you'd expect from a true pâtisserie. On my visits, I tried: * A leek soup that was supposed to be cream-based but tasted thin and under-seasoned--more like warm vegetable water than a properly developed soup. * A baguette sandwich with fig, Brie, and apple that sounded promising but was poorly executed. The bread was overly hard, and the balance of ingredients felt off, making the sandwich less enjoyable than expected. I gave Amélie's two chances, hoping the second visit would change my impression. It didn't. To be fair, the café clearly has a loyal following and works well as a social or casual gathering spot. But if you're specifically looking for high-quality French pastries or refined bakery craftsmanship, there are stronger options in the Charlotte area. Personally, I'd recommend: * Renaissance Patisserie for more traditional European-style pastries * Paris Baguette at Rea Farms for consistency and better execution * Or trusted local favorites closer to home Bottom line: Fun atmosphere, but the food didn't meet expectations for a French bakery. After multiple visits, it's a pass for me.
