Sorry to see your place go down the hill and so pricey for the quality !! We have been so many times last year and the food was much better but today was the worst of all . The food today was horrible first of all the food came super fast so I felt I was sitting at a fast food place ..I ordered a combination and the meat came so dark and you all know when the meat turn to dark color that mean this is an old meat or leftover you warm and you put for your customers or you cooked and put in the freezer and you just take it out and warm it this is a shame and a joke to pay $100 for a dinner for 2 with this horrible food. The flaming cheese was not flaming, the cocktails were 1/2 full. The steak wasn't even warm inside. This restaurant will be out of business within months. What a fabulous dinner. We were visiting St. Charles and chose to eat here. Excellent food - bacon and chorizo wrapped dates, baba ganoush, braised short ribs and olive oil chocolate cake with berries. Stephen, our server, was so attentive, efficient and kind. And the atmosphere is bright and modern. A large spacious room with plenty of room between all the tables. (And all servers wore masks!). They tricked me for the Groupon deal. Don't buy the Groupon it's very misleading. Groupon mentioned having to buy two entrées for $25 worth of food. I would have given this place 5 stars. Super cute and food was delicious. Unfortunately the service just was not there. You could tell the servers were overworked and understaffed. Took 10-15 minutes before even greeted. Didn't get a drink menu. Took another 5 minutes for a drink menu. Then I had to ask the host for the receipt and Togo box because that was the last time I saw our server. Food is fantastic! We had the red pepper hummus omg, sooooo good! Creamy with a little zip just the right amount of heat. Shrimp kabob is a little spicy but yummy and I loved the grilled veggies. Been going to Just Kabobs for years, which I know is more Greek centered, but still comparable in general "what you get" sense. Heard these guys were struggling to stay open a bit when I went in to get my pick up order yesterday. I know people are afraid to get food from traditional dine-in spots, but wow this was fantastic. Not a ton of food with these flavors in the area and they delivered on the Mediterranean spices I love. Had the chicken plate and spicy potatoes. Safe to say I will be getting both again. My brother had the steak plate which I was a little worried about take out steak but wow was it soft and had great spice. I'd consider getting steak if tired of chicken for sure. Hummus and pita was excellent as well. Basmati rice was on point. Was going to take photos to show, but I literally had a bite and couldn't put fork down, and this was takeout!! This is a fantastic restaurant to go to and sit outside on a beautiful day and enjoy the river! They have live music on Friday and Saturday nights also, but we left before the music started. Omar, the owner, is very gracious and charming and makes the rounds throughout the entire restaurant. I had the chicken kabobs that were served with rice and vegetables and a delicious garlic dip. My friend had the baked Mediterranean fish, which was very good. The food is also Halal. All the portion sizes are very nice. Good food. Will definitely go back! read more

I need to first preface this review with the fact that I will go back again and I hate leaving this review. Here were the positives. 1.) Spicy potatos in concept were good, I say that only because I wanted spicy but I do eat pretty spicy so I cant expect everyone to accomodate me. 2.) Falafel was good eating in detroit over the years I have a high bar but the taste was good. 3.) The owners. They were awesome very attentive and trying to make us happy. The Bad - 1.) Our waiter was obviously at the end of his shift and was not really in a great mood to serve us , to the point of when they delivered the wrong food I called him over and he said "what do you want" Also he did not know they had any sort of hotsauce outside tobasco. 2.) The apps. I felt the apps at 9 bucks a piece were a bit high and I just didnt love them 3.) The Hot Sauce. Ok I know I am spoiled but there hot sausce which again half the staff didn't know existed wasn't hot but e get it but i feel like a restaurant of this caliber should be making hot sauce! I migrated to St. Charles almost 3 years ago from the city and while I am still kicking and screaming, I have had a great time discovering the hidden gems of STC and Eden on the River was another great find. If not for our friends, I would never have known about this restaurant as the advertising has been limited if at all. Apparently the location has seen a significant turnover rate and I hope this curse does not affect Eden. The food is so good, our friends have dined there 3 times over the past week if that tells you anything. Their wine list is excellent because they happen to carry one of my favorites "The Prisoner"; which is a rarity to find unless you are at a high end restaurant. Eden is very causal, the food is very good and the crowd is steady. They also have a band and while they did not perform during our visit, I would love to come back to listen to them play. For the table, we shared the hummus and the Eden spicy potato. The hummus was excellent and if you like spicy, the potatoes are wonderful. For main courses, we had various entrees of chicken shawarma, baked Mediterranean fish, and the Eden shrimp kabob. All were excellent dishes with their own distinctive flavors. The waitstaff was great and we really appreciated that the managers/owners visited our table to make sure we enjoyed the meal. read more

This is a phenomenal restaurant, with very friendly and knowledgeable staff, as well as caring and compassionate owners. My wife and I used to go to their previous location in DeKalb (Mediterano), and are so happy to see that they have brought their food to a new, awesome location in our town of St. Charles- right on the river! The restaurant has very cool atmosphere. Very hip, yet relaxed. Great menu that ranges from affordable and delicious, to a bit pricier for the specialty items- but you definitely get what you pay for. We really liked our appetizer platter that had a great humus spread with pita. Great drink options, as well! Most notable is the entertainment. They have live music on Friday's and Saturdays, and we saw an incredible Gypsy jazz group led by a stellar violin player who was accompanied with really interesting instrumentation -guitar, bass, tabla/djembe, and harpsichord. They do a good job of booking really talented, and unique musicians- often with a Mediterranean flare. We enjoyed seeing Omar sit in on Djembe. The music is not overpowering, but fills the room beautifully creating a really fun night out. We wish them the best, and look forward to our next visit. read more

It's found in a corner of a strip of establishments. They are on the ground floor near the river (hence Eden on the River). They have i door and outdoor seating. We came in at 1pm which was a very slow time, it was us only. I think it was the owner who greeted us. Nice decor. Wooden floors. Lightings were gorgeous. Even the wall art painting. They have a stage. Just dont know when os their perdormance. Service: let us just say that there are some that are enthusiastic but the one that served us was a tad short on that. Our table lacked napkins. Was not offered to us, we needed to get some on the other vacant table. He saw us get it but did not say anything. I had some extra left on my appetizer, did not offer if we would like to take it hone, just took the used plates. He does check on us. But threw a frown that i showed him that when i checked in Yelp there was a 50% off on the 2nd entree. Food: this is the reason why im coming back. Our mezza sampler: delicious!!! The Hummus?! The best from all the hummus that i had tatsed. Creamy but light. Muhamara not that spicy, one of my favorite. This is highly recommended dish that you need to get. Worth it! Good for 2! (Thats why im so sad, my leftover was just thrown away) Baked Mediterrenean Fish (Boraca) that is one heck of a flavorful, moist dish. It was enough for the 2 of us. But my fiance cleaned that fish off.. and the House Kefta kabob, moist not like the other keftas i ate from other restaurants. I dont know the name of the sauce on the side but that was delicious!! My only critiques would be to oil the door going to the patio, it was very creaky and with it being a nice night and ppl going to sit outside that's all we heard through out the whole dinner! As we turn to leave another customer walks in without a mask and walks right by the hostess and nothing is said to him. Just tried Eden on the River for the first time and I will definitely be coming back! The inside is decorated very beautifully, the service was quick and there was plenty of food for leftovers! I wish I could give this zero stars. Normally I don't like to leave bad reviews, but this was ridiculous. We walked in and immediately saw 3 ladies leave that just sat down. Then we saw another lady get up and complain about her salad. We waited a while and then got the wrong menu. Then, our food came and it was a dry pita with what looked like lunch deli meat and shredded cheese - something I could make at home. We ordered from here last Sunday. It was my first time trying Eden's food. Hands down the best shawarma and kabob I have ever had. The chicken shawarma wraps were the most incredible shawarma I've had anywhere in the world. Every bite had a fantastic flavor. We were missing the old menu. The renovations are excellent, but the old menu was better than the tapas and small plates. If I wanted a steak dinner or salmon, I would go to a different venue. We tried dinner and lunch after the remodel, and the menu options are not what they used to be. The Mediterranean menu was much better, and the food was always great. We loved the live music and service; I don't think we will be going back.
