JC Penny and some bungee jumping thing

I wanted to visit Kohl's. The closest one by my hotel was located at Eden Prairie Center. This mall is pretty good. I don't wander around malls as often as I used to. My being at a mall depletes my bank account. I tend to do box stores and outlets these days. I shop at the stores that I need and I leave. However, being on vacation and having far more willpower these days, I spent a good four hours at this mall and still have a decent bank account balance. It has my favourite stores, such as Kohl's, Target, and Barnes and Noble. Major department stores, such as Von Maur and JC Penney, are a part of this mall. The food court is on the top floor. It has your usual fast food places, such as Subway and Sbarro, and more interesting selections, such as Potbelly Sandwich Shop and Pasta Zola. This mall has some of my usual clothing stores, such as Gap, Old Navy, and Eddie Bauer. I like the selection of stores, including Epic Nails (it had customers both times that I had passed by), Auntie Anne's (I love pretzel dogs), and Tactical Urban Combat (shooting games with Nerf-like guns). I'd like to come back here and watch a movie at the AMC. It looks huge. This mall has everything that I like about a mall. It has shops that I like, which explains why I can spend a few hours here and not get bored. (497)

The children's play area is perplexing. I remember my older kids having so much fun before they remodeled. Now it feels closed off from the rest of the mall which I'm sure adds security but I also feel like it makes parents less engaged with their children. At the old play place, parents actually had to walk around and watch their kid and then end up playing with them. Now, with the added door all you have to do is walk in and let your kid go. I do see the benefits of having the door and extra protection and it would make it easy if you had some computer work to do or a phone call to make. Overall, I feel it cleaner and safer but I don't know that we'll be back. In lieu of the play area in the atrium, they have placed pay for machines like you'd see outside of a grocery store. It's a nightmare trying to get your kid out of this area of the mall without bribery! I appreciate the cleanliness like I've said. Give it a try, but set your bar low.

This is a mall, updated to current standards, with plenty of stores to suit your everyday needs. No it isn't the Mall of America, but if you want that it is only 10-15mins down the road. For a ring city mall, it is pretty standard. I've never had too many issues here, but parking can get out of control during the holidays so watch out. Probably my favorite feature of this mall is the attached Target store.

Scheels is a good choice for sports-related clothing and shoes and Target is attached so very convenient.

They always have shan yao (mountain yam), which is a root vegetable that is hard to find in smaller Asian grocery stores. Other must-get items include red bean mochi rice cakes (and the raw red beans that are used to make the paste), taro root, and a big bag of brown sugar boba pearls. There aren't a lot of staff members around to assist with finding things (you usually have to go to the checkout counters to find someone), so be prepared for much searching through the shelves (fun searching though).

We were craving for Asian food but many restaurants closed early... we found a Chinese restaurant that stayed open longer that evening and after checking-in our hotel we drove to the Asia Mall. This shopping center had two levels of diverse offerings including Asian groceries, snacks, drinks, bakery and a variety of international products. Nice and clean with spacious layout, well-organized. Downstairs we found sections showcasing different Asian non-food merch and cultural items. Upstairs are many restaurants. Guests have the option of using the stairs or the elevator. Asia Mall is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to explore Asian culture and cuisine in Minnesota. Parking is plentiful. I was looking online to see if they carry converse, as I was looking for a pair of regular black chucks. When I entered the store there were tons of staff all over which is nice to see these days. I browsed the men's section first since the shoes are pretty much the same, I couldn't find them at first so I went across the store over to the women's and couldn't find converse in women's either. I did notice the women's shoes wasn't as busy as the men's. I browsed around a bit (no one greeted me or anything in men's or women's). I did finally find them under a table display and they only had platforms for women's so I went back over to men's to take another look. I did find them and waited for a salesman to assist me. A man walked up (after me) and the shoe he wanted was next to stock room so he was helped right away. I waited and asked for help.. I was told by a rep that he had to go check on some other customers, I kept waiting and being ignored to the point I witnessed reps asking people still looking around if they needed help and finally someone came up to help me, I asked for a 7 (as I'm a 8 1/2, 9 in women's), he came back and told me the smallest size they have is an 8 which is too big. He asked who I was shopping for, I said myself and he asked me what size I wear and I said about a 9 in women's and he said "well this is men's" as if I was blind. Just didn't like the vibes all around.

The updates and renovations…read morehave made a noticeable difference, and the mall feels much more modern and intentional than it used to. There's no longer a shortage of recognizable brand-name stores, which makes it feel more like a true shopping destination again. There is a mix of luxury stores and every-day shopping which brings good value. That said, there are still a few odd, lesser-known shops scattered throughout with inconsistent or unusual hours, which can be a little confusing. The food options are decent. The traditional food court is a bit of a letdown, but there are better standalone options throughout the mall like Rustica Bakery, Pezzo Pizza, Yumi Sushi, People's Organic, and others. Having Kowalski's grocery store on-site is also a big plus and adds convenience. Entertainment-wise, there's more to do now with options like an escape room and Dave & Buster's. The mall is spacious, never feels overly crowded, and has plenty of parking, which makes it easy and stress-free to visit. Overall, the updates are a very welcome change. Southdale feels revitalized, easier to navigate, and much more enjoyable than it was a few years ago.
