We live on the Gulf Coast and stopped by here on our way back home. Brunch was good but my daughter's parfait had a piece of ham in it? At least it was just ham and she said otherwise it was yummy. We grabbed a slice of strawberry cake and an old fashioned pound cake to take home. The strawberry cake was delicious and made me wish we had brought an entire cake home. Stopped in this morning while on that side of town and got my husband and I a coconut and chocolate mini "decadence" cake. Nothing decadent about them. Who does that? I called and them to tell them about it and they said I was welcome to drive all the way back to the store and they would remake the sandwich. Went here for breakfast this morning and I highly suggest they stick to what they know. The pastries and cakes I've had in the past were fantastic. However, the breakfast was far from that. This place used to be OK, years ago. Went here last week to pick up some cupcakes for a birthday, and we were ignored the entire 10 minutes that we stood at the counter. There were three workers: one helping a couple order a cake, one taking people's money (she shuffled back and forth in front of us and some other customers waiting to order from the glass case, and not one time did she acknowledge our existence); and one arguing with a woman who ordered two cakes to be picked up at this location, yet the other cake was delivered to the Colonnade location. Customer service sucks at this place and has for a loooooooooong time. Currently waiting on my second Nutella waffle, because after waiting for a little over twenty minutes for my first one I found a black hair on one of my strawberries! I would be a little more understanding if this is a complete accident but this is the second time that this is happened! Driving to work this morning and had to slam on the brakes as an Edgar's delivery driver crossed three lanes of traffic with no signal. The car behind me had to swerve . Everything is delicious. The cakes and cookies and pastries are beautifully decorated and only surpassed in their deliciousness. Their breads and dips and all else that comes from their kitchens are fabulous. The shop is always decorated for the season. And it's got that warm feel to it. It's one of those places where when you walk in you're immediately comforted. I highly recommend eating here for lunch, a snack, or grabbing a sweet treat for yourself or a party. I placed an order on December 16th through the website to be picked up on December 24th for a cake. I was purchasing it as our dessert for Christmas Day, so I wanted it to be as fresh as possible. The order process requires prepayment, a telephone number for contacting the customer and selecting a pick-up time. I chose to pick up my order between 2 and 2:30. I arrived at 2:04 to a sign posted on the door stating the business closed at 2:00. I could see customers as well as employees walking around inside so I decided to knock and explain the situation. An employee and customer were in my line of sight and seemed to be trying to decide how to have the customer exit without allowing me entrance. The employee finally just opened the door and let the customer out and told me the business was closed. I attempted to explain the issue, but she just walked away. I entered the business and explained to the person at the register the situation. The response I received was that the business closed at 2:00 and it was posted on the doors. My response was I placed my order online and the website did not state that the business was closing early, but allowed me to select the pick-up time between 2:00 and 2:30. I am wondering why is there contact information during the ordering process if it is not going to be used. I would have been without a dessert just because no one contacted me to let me know the business was closing early! I hope this cake is worth it! read more

Amazing bakery with a billion fresh desserts. I live close by and luckily I run and walk a lot or I would be a fattie from eating all these delicious sweets. The cupcakes are the best I've ever had. Better than Gigi's cupcakes which are 3 bucks a pop (Edgar's price ranges from $1.75 to $2.50) and they don't go overboard with the frosting like Gigi's does. It's got a lot of frosting still, and the cake part is much better than Gigi's. The sundae cupcakes are superb. I have also had the pound cake and pie here. Both are unbelievably delicious. Their butter cream frosting is to DIE for. So often icing leaves a oil sheen in your mouth that just turns me off cake all together. My first reluctant bite of one of their birthday cakes changed me forever. I recently bought 3 large cakes for a birthday dinner; one butter cream on yellow, one chocolate and one white on white. But, what really got me is when I came to pick up the cake and asked for a cake cutter I was told the cake cutter was not free. She would have to charge me an additional fee. No thank you! Holy Cupcake! I love this bakery's cupcakes! They're moist, the icing is delish, and it's pretty affordable! I went in a few months ago to pick up a dozen cupcakes for a party, and my husband decided that he needed breakfast. He ordered a bagel, and they grabbed a back of Thompson bagels from a shelf and asked if that's what he wanted. He said no, ordered a muffin, and we left. I have been a fan of Edgar's baked goods for years and am glad to see that they are about to expand to include a downtown location, which will be much more convenient for me. I have never had a cake from here that I didn't really like. However, one of my favorite items here is the lemon cheesecake bar...absolutely amazing! I have actually never had any of the non-sweet offerings before, but the breakfast and lunch menus look quite tasty and I have heard a lot of good things about them. I do like their products, but I do not shop here anymore due to the customer service. I bought a cake from them and it was a rainy day. I was juggling my work bag, an umbrella, and now this cake box. I asked for a bag for the cake, and the girl at checkout said, "We don't give out bags for cakes." I was flabbergasted and didn't know what to say! I have previously purchased items from Edgar's Trussville location and the location near 280 and 459. I have also dined in for lunch. The food choices were always delightful. However on June 19, 2021 I purchased 12 cupcakes. 6 in a box for my Son-in-Law and the other for my husband. When I arrived home the boxes were not marked so I opened a box. I found three cupcakes tossed or lying on top of the other three with icing on the side of the box. This box held 3 red velvet and 3 caramel. The other box was also tossed with top icing of the caramel completely off. I reported to the store and was told it sounded like they had been dropped. There was not an offer to reduce what I had paid, instead I was told I could return them to the store. I replied it was raining and I did not want to go back out. I can't share all of the chat but the store implied I had dropped the cakes and asked me if I watched them be put in the box. Not really, I am stepped to the next counter to purchase a lemon bar. The young lady with the cupcakes said she would bring boxes to checkout . She did not, the cashier(Vanessa) had to go get the cupcakes. It's strange that a bakery disappoints on the sweets but impresses on the breakfast. I'd actually recommend it for a breakfast--they correctly poached an egg, which is a basic standard for whether or not the cook is any good. The two breakfast items were good, including some good bacon. The sweets, however, were disappointing, too sweet. The person taking our order was confused and not the best, but the person bringing us food was nice. read more
