Was looking for some quick food near the hotel and found this place. Service and staff was great but the food was mid. Nothing stand out. Chicken Alfredo was good- chicken cooked perfectly. Huge portion. Had the sampler. It was okay. The empanadas were really good though. And also tried a pineapple sangria -- that was amazing! read more

I'm the frozen queen back home while the kids were growing up. I can tell when you have frozen chicken heated with some sauce on top and instant mashed potatoes. My daughter had fettuccine with shrimp shrimp with dry fettuccine was tasteless. Ordered wings to go for my husband who stayed in the room and while he ate, he found a hair. Totally not happy with the food for paying over $140. Requested refund. I believe we're still waiting. read more

Stayed here the first week of April 2025 for the Houston BBQ Festival. We didn't plan on eating at the restaurant that's inside the hotel (on floor #2) but it was storming pretty hard. We had the coolest bartender named Adam that made us feel very welcome and he was actually happy we were there. This was both our very first Houston experience food and stay wise. Such a cool little spot that didn't make you feel rushed or uncomfortable. The food and drinks at Edgar's Hermano was amazing. Everything we ate and drank were all delicious. My favorite was the Pamplemousse cocktail, and the Chicken Enchilada Soup. We took a chance on the hotel and the restaurant and I'm so glad the weather was bad otherwise we probably wouldn't have ever tried it. Highly recommend for food and drinks! Great portions and great tasting! Adam is a great asset and makes delicious drinks! Remember to always tip your bartenders and waitstaff!!! read more

Edgar's Hermano is inside the White Hall hotel. It's a quick lunch or dinner! The only thing I don't like is that you have to order at the bar and then go sit down lol when is very spoiled of me, because I like to be seated and then have my order taken. But, that being said, I've had a burger here before it was decent, fries are always good, but the bbq bourbon chicken is where it's at! read more

The food here is delicious. Their Alfredo pasta with grilled chicken has tasty sauce along with pasta, and mushrooms. Service here is impressive. They kept checking on me. First asked me if everything tasted well. Then checked if I needed anything. The restaurant area and seating is very good. Totally recommend. read more

While staying at the White Hall hotel I really enjoyed Edgar's Hermano! It's a very cute restaurant! I went for bar food where I got the steak nachos and a strawberry margarita and went back for brunch for the steak break fajitas. Everything was excellent! They make it extremely confident where you can sit in and eat or take the food directly to go! Great place to come by when in the city! read more

Stayed at this hotel for a business trip. Due to weather we stayed in and enjoyed a work lunch at Edgar's. Many stars and kudos for accommodating 30ish ppl! They took our order and drinks in an organized fashion. Ofc it took time to get all our orders but everyone seemed pleased. The staff was attentive and gave plenty of refills and even third servings of drinks. I enjoyed my snapper. The sauce was good. My team member did not enjoy her tulum chicken she said the peppers weren't good (she did come for breakfast here and said she enjoyed that better) My other team member enjoyed her soup as she finished it. What I believe is the veg pita I did not hear complaints but she did not finish the plate. The restaurant was cold, not sure if the air was ever adjusted per our group's request or just hard to combat due to the extreme cold weather in Houston today. It was nicely decorated without being too much or a lack luster. Super accommodating they even lowered the music for us to be able to hear one another. They offer room service meals as well. read more

Hanging out here at the bar for the Super Bowl and decided to grab a bit of grub. Ordered an Old Fashion from the bar and it's pretty good. For food, I ordered the blackened snapper with vegetables and it's excellent. Well seasoned and delish! This is the main restaurant located in The Whitehall Hotel on the second floor. I came here for breakfast before headed out to work. Its a pretty good-sized restaurant with cool decorations of bull's heads made from steel wires. The menu has classic American-style breakfast items, but also quite a few unique offerings where they add some Tex-Mex flair to the dishes. My choice of the Pork Belly Benedict turned out good. The dish had great presentation - two fried sweet corn grit cakes topped with pork belly and a sunny-side up quail egg. There were some fried green tomato sauce around the bottom which gave some nice tartness. Pork belly was soft and tender - even the fatty parts are melt-in-mouth. Lastly, I really enjoyed the use of roasted yams and sweet potatoes as sides. Colorful and healthier than regular potatoes! read more

Bowl of gumbo, steak fajitas, tres leches parfait. Everything was delicious, gumbo had a lot of shrimp, fajitas were super sizzling with good flavor. The waiter checked on me at good intervals, even the hostess went around and checked. The parfait was really delicious, it was a bit heavy for me to finish by myself at the end of an already heavy meal, but I couldn't stop. read more

I started a new job just three weeks ago and asked around for the closest, good Mexican restaurant and was sent here. So happy to be here, food is Delicious! Ate here during a work event that was at The Whitehall Hotel (downtown Houston). The tacos and queso were pretty good and they also have great dessert. I tried the cheesecake and tres leches...yummy! Though are event was set up buffet style, I did glance at the menu before the event and prices looked pretty reasonable, especially to be located within a hotel. I'm iffy when it comes to Mexican food. Being from SoCal, I prefer baja style. But I reckon you Texans would dig this. read more

Edgar's Hermano is a restaurant located in the Whitehall hotel in downtown Houston. Its vicinity to my office had me visited me a few times for lunch. Having said that, I wouldn't say this is my favorite lunch spot. The lunch menu offered variety of food where you can 2 or 3 items out of may 6-7 items to make up your lunch. I opted for chip and queso, chicken slider, and fried chicken. A small piece of pie came with my dish also. Chip and queso was alright; it might have been better with a beer. Chicken slider was OK, but the fried chicken was a tad salty. That small piece of Pecan pie was an afterthought and I didn't recall how it tasted either as it probably was either bad or outstanding. The service was prompt and fast. I didn't have to wait long for my food. To sum it up, the food was just OK , and the service was good. The ambiance was alright, but it seemed a little bit too bright for me. I probably would come back here if my coworkers want to come here, but I wouldn't pick this place as my lunch spot. read more

Visiting Houston with my sister and we were staying at the Whitehall hotel. Visited the restaurant for dinner and our server Andrew was amazing! So helpful, professional and friendly. He basically picked our menu items for us based on what we told him we like. We had the Paloma to drink, brisket tacos and oxtail stew (it was called soup but it was more hearty and thicker). I was thinking or hoping all these reviews were actually wrong about the food, but to my surprise they weren't. The food reminded me of bad school cafeteria food. Met a old friend here for lunch and felt ashamed of exposing her to this. We asked our waitress for some recommendations and she mentioned some items off the main menu that were really good and said all the items from the specials menu were great....they weren't. Their chicken "street" taco was the poorest, blandest taco i have ever seen, some chicken cubes with one slice of jalapeño. The bourbon chicken wings seemed to have been microwaved and not too well at that either since the bones were still cold. Chicken slider offers no flavor or any toppings or condiments. Only part i enjoyed was the mac & queso. Can't see myself coming back. read more

What a great location. This restaurant is located on the second floor of The Whitehall Hotel in Downtown Houston. The hostess was extremely friendly and took us to our seats immediately. The décor is classy and inviting. There is a bar in the middle of the room that patrons can sit at and watch TV while they eat or they have the option of several booths as well. So many tasty options on the menu but I settled for the Pig Wings. Yes, I was initially confused as well but it turns out that they are pork ribs in a fantastic mango habanero glaze. They pack a wonderful kick for those who like their food spicy. The Grapefruit Sangria I had with my meal was also excellent. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back to try some other items off their menu. read more

PBLT is nothing like the menu description. Tasted like mango, (?) cinnamon and honey. With maybe a smudge of pork flavor. There was no cheese or cilantro on it. There was a hint of some other spice, but I am not sure what it was. It was an altogether unpleasant experience. Would never have wasted $14 on it if the description had said it was going to be sweet. Disgusting lingering flavor. Wish it would go away! Should have known it was going to be bad. 11:30-ish on a weekday and not one other patron in the place. I'm done. Maybe they will try another restaurant idea soon... read more

We arrived early (they open at 4pm and we arrived at 5:30). It was dead. Just us and a couple that appeared to be regulars. I had ordered an agave mojito and it was all mint and sugar. The waitress was nice enough but seemed uncomfortable, we all have off nights though, right? My son and I ordered the chicken stuffed with Mac and cheese after reading about it on Yelp. They brought out freshly baked bread about 10 minutes after ordering the entree, stating they had just made the bread and because it was "so early", the chicken would take a while longer. No worries. The bread was delicious! The food came out and looked delicious. Unfortunately the chicken had a very weird texture to it and was way too breaded. The Mac and cheese inside was almost non-existent. The Dr. Pepper bbq jam and grits were so so good. So were the Brussel sprouts! I can only think that maybe they rushed the chicken because they were not prepared for an early dinner crowd and that's why it turned out the way it did. I would consider trying it again, but maybe only during a busy time when food was being paid attention to a little closer. read more

I sometimes stay at WhiteHall while on business and Edgar Hernanos is locates inside. I had the chicken soup with avocado, cheese and tortilla on the side. Very flavorful, but never salted. The food is decent but the prices are off. I would only eat here if I stay at the hotel, never would make special trip. read more

Edgar's Hermano is one of my newest favorites in Houston. I've had lunch there twice now and have been very satisfied both times. Everything I've tried has been top-notch, and the portion sizes are very generous for the price. My favorite app is the queso, and my favorite entree is the Texas torta, which is a juicy fried chicken breast on a bolilo roll with avocado, cheese, and crema. Oh, and they've got homemade tortillas, which is always a plus. I haven't had a chance to try it for breakfast yet, but I'm sure it's just as good. The location is a little hard to find - it's on the second floor of The Whitehall hotel at 1700 Smith - but it's worth looking for. read more

We wanted to like this place. The menu seemed Uber cool, and after all, they had churros and chocolate on the dessert menu. BUT after being seated, we waited over 30 mins for our waitress to show up...just to get glasses of water. We understand they are understaffed, and she was running around everywhere, but there was no one to take our order. So we left. Maybe we will try again another time! read more

Well...the food wasn't bad. I ordered the Short Rib Grilled Cheese with fries... Flavor was good, but definitely greasy, the fries were actually excellent. The food would have earned 4 stars, for sure. BUT, what really blew this place for me was the extremely overpriced, less than mediocre drinks. I ordered 2 Manhattans, with Bulleit bourbon. This would generally be an $8 drink at a normal bar but I expected maybe $10, or so, since it was at a hotel restaurant... But, the drink itself was not even professionally made, it was half assed with low quality bright red maraschino cherries, mixed directly in the glass with the ice, not even stirred in a mixer and poured over fresh ice like a good Manhattan should be made.... Soooo, not only was the drink disappointing and poorly made, when I got the tab, it was $18 A DRINK!!!!! I have had top-shelf craft Manhattans IN MANHATTAN for less than that!!! So the price was excessively high for a Manhattan you would have expected to get in a college bar for $5... but nope, $18 a drink... I had to double take at my bill... I highly recommend you avoid this place if you are looking to get a good drink at a reasonable price.... Never again...the bar deserves negative stars, but overall gets 2 because of the fact that the food was not bad. read more

My girlfriend and I are staying at the WhiteHall Hotel in Houston because we are here for a wedding. We were so exhausted that we just decided to take a chance on the restaurant in the actual hotel (let's keep in mind, 9/10 restaurants in hotels are 50/50 because people use them mostly out of convenience). Well to our surprise, we had the most scrumptious Mexican Food ever. The tortilla chips, chili con queso, and guacamole were all made from SCRATCH. I'm not even a "Mexican food" person and I couldn't stop eating. In fact, Mexican food would be like the LAST resort for me. Both of my parents are Latin American so I grew up eating Latin food, but I tend to lean toward Puerto Rican and Cuban as favorites. I ordered the beef fajitas and the meat tasted like slices of pure bliss. Did I mention the flour tortillas were made from scratch? Then the dessert menu...my girlfriend had the churros and I had tres leches. My PURE BLISS continued and I earned my CPC medal. If you don't know what CPC stands for, you haven't lived. It stands for Clean Plate Club. To top it off, we had the cutest waiter named Devon. He was really funny, sweet, and professional. I wish I had a picture of my food but I don't. I made an insta-story video of it though and tagged the restaurant when I posted it. Hello flavor! I love this new Mexican restaurant in the Whitehall Hotel (former Crowne Plaza). The poblano soup smooth, velvety and delicious....definitely one of my favorites. They now have an express lunch: for $10 I got a street taco, rice, refried beans and a small taste of dessert. The flavors were wonderful...the salsa was fresh (sorry no chips and salsa here but wonderful snack breads) and the refried beans were packed with flavor. I will certainly be back! read more

Had breakfast here today. It was good. Had the fajita meat with eggs. Total with coffee: $20. If a bit cheaper, I might have given it 4 stars! Maybe better than average hotel food. Our reservation was later in the evening so after a night of bar hopping, we ride shared in which I think is one of the best options as parking is limited here or you have to find street parking in the neighborhood. This place is literally a house turned into a restaurant. Inside is just multiple rooms with a couple of tables. It makes for a unique, intimate dining experience, perfect for a date night. In our case, we were a group of nine so we got patio seating. The patio is spacious and well kept, and if the weather cooperates, a great place to hang. One thing that really stood out to me is the amazing ambience of this place. I was told that the bartenders pick the music for the night from the owners extensive vinyl collection. Once the album is in, they play it in it's entirety. The sound system was systeming and on top of the great company and food, we were totally vibing with the music. Customer service was amazing. Every staff member we came across was so friendly, especially our server. The menu here changes. There are some mainstays, but they like to change things up. Their website shows current menus daily. We were told that family style is the best way to experience this restaurant. I am one of those people that will always listen to the staff and go with their suggestions. Our group went through quite a bit of their menu from apps, entrees and desserts. I loved that our server and staff brought our food out one by one in what they thought was the best progression so we could take a culinary journey. We started off light with their popular Dilly Bread. Best bread I've had in awhile. Next was the Texas Tartare. It was my first ever tartare and it was delicious. On to the heavier dishes. First up was the Jamon With Your Bad Self. This came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. It was favorite heavy entree. It was high quality, iberico pork steak with shaved brussels and all kinds of other tasty ingredients that when combined made such a tasty bite. We then went to the sea with the Drops of Grouperter. It was good, but not something I would order again. It was a little too smoky for my liking. Our biggest dish that came market priced was the Kick His Ass Seabass. This was a whole fish that was presented beautifully on a platter with all the accouterments to make your own elevated fish tacos. We left no morsel of fish behind. It was absolutely delicious. One of the things this place is really known for is their pies. This was the part I was most excited about. Just like their menu, their pies change up. We got all their offerings that night which they presented on one big platter of goodness. Their main stay and I believe always on the menu is the famous Olive Oil Cake.
