Pamplemousse
A R.

Stayed here the first week of April 2025 for the Houston BBQ Festival. We didn't plan on eating at the restaurant that's inside the hotel (on floor #2) but it was storming pretty hard. We had the coolest bartender named Adam that made us feel very welcome and he was actually happy we were there. This was both our very first Houston experience food and stay wise. Such a cool little spot that didn't make you feel rushed or uncomfortable. The food and drinks at Edgar's Hermano was amazing. Everything we ate and drank were all delicious. My favorite was the Pamplemousse cocktail, and the Chicken Enchilada Soup. We took a chance on the hotel and the restaurant and I'm so glad the weather was bad otherwise we probably wouldn't have ever tried it. Highly recommend for food and drinks! Great portions and great tasting! Adam is a great asset and makes delicious drinks! Remember to always tip your bartenders and waitstaff!!!

Edgar's Hermano is inside the White Hall hotel. It's a quick lunch or dinner! The only thing I don't like is that you have to order at the bar and then go sit down lol when is very spoiled of me, because I like to be seated and then have my order taken. But, that being said, I've had a burger here before it was decent, fries are always good, but the bbq bourbon chicken is where it's at!

Alfredo pasta with grilled chicken and mushrooms. Sampler tray.

The food here is delicious. Their Alfredo pasta with grilled chicken has tasty sauce along with pasta, and mushrooms. Service here is impressive. They kept checking on me. First asked me if everything tasted well. Then checked if I needed anything. The restaurant area and seating is very good. Totally recommend.

While staying at the White Hall hotel I really enjoyed Edgar's Hermano! It's a very cute restaurant! I went for bar food where I got the steak nachos and a strawberry margarita and went back for brunch for the steak break fajitas. Everything was excellent! They make it extremely confident where you can sit in and eat or take the food directly to go! Great place to come by when in the city!

Stayed at this hotel for a business trip. Due to weather we stayed in and enjoyed a work lunch at Edgar's. Many stars and kudos for accommodating 30ish ppl! They took our order and drinks in an organized fashion. Ofc it took time to get all our orders but everyone seemed pleased. The staff was attentive and gave plenty of refills and even third servings of drinks. I enjoyed my snapper. The sauce was good. My team member did not enjoy her tulum chicken she said the peppers weren't good (she did come for breakfast here and said she enjoyed that better) My other team member enjoyed her soup as she finished it. What I believe is the veg pita I did not hear complaints but she did not finish the plate. The restaurant was cold, not sure if the air was ever adjusted per our group's request or just hard to combat due to the extreme cold weather in Houston today. It was nicely decorated without being too much or a lack luster. Super accommodating they even lowered the music for us to be able to hear one another. They offer room service meals as well.

Hanging out here at the bar for the Super Bowl and decided to grab a bit of grub. Ordered an Old Fashion from the bar and it's pretty good. For food, I ordered the blackened snapper with vegetables and it's excellent. Well seasoned and delish! The bar area has different types of of seating including booths and an table area to watch the game on a big screen.

Pork Belly Benedict with grit fritters, quail egg, and roasted breakfast (sweet) potatoes (4 stars)

This is the main restaurant located in The Whitehall Hotel on the second floor. I came here for breakfast before headed out to work. Its a pretty good-sized restaurant with cool decorations of bull's heads made from steel wires. The menu has classic American-style breakfast items, but also quite a few unique offerings where they add some Tex-Mex flair to the dishes. My choice of the Pork Belly Benedict turned out good. The dish had great presentation - two fried sweet corn grit cakes topped with pork belly and a sunny-side up quail egg. There were some fried green tomato sauce around the bottom which gave some nice tartness. Pork belly was soft and tender - even the fatty parts are melt-in-mouth. Lastly, I really enjoyed the use of roasted yams and sweet potatoes as sides. Colorful and healthier than regular potatoes!

Bowl of gumbo, steak fajitas, tres leches parfait. Everything was delicious, gumbo had a lot of shrimp, fajitas were super sizzling with good flavor. The waiter checked on me at good intervals, even the hostess went around and checked. The parfait was really delicious, it was a bit heavy for me to finish by myself at the end of an already heavy meal, but I couldn't stop.

Quesadillas

I started a new job just three weeks ago and asked around for the closest, good Mexican restaurant and was sent here. So happy to be here, food is Delicious! Ordered the steak quesadillas, and got a side of queso. Definitely Tex-Mex, thank goodness . I will be returning ! Had to try cheesecake for dessert! It was almost inappropriate how much I enjoyed that cheesecake.

Ate here during a work event that was at The Whitehall Hotel (downtown Houston). The tacos and queso were pretty good and they also have great dessert. I tried the cheesecake and tres leches...yummy! Though are event was set up buffet style, I did glance at the menu before the event and prices looked pretty reasonable, especially to be located within a hotel. I'm iffy when it comes to Mexican food. Being from SoCal, I prefer baja style. But I reckon you Texans would dig this.

Edgar's Hermano is a restaurant located in the Whitehall hotel in downtown Houston. Its vicinity to my office had me visited me a few times for lunch. Having said that, I wouldn't say this is my favorite lunch spot. The lunch menu offered variety of food where you can 2 or 3 items out of may 6-7 items to make up your lunch. I opted for chip and queso, chicken slider, and fried chicken. A small piece of pie came with my dish also. Chip and queso was alright; it might have been better with a beer. Chicken slider was OK, but the fried chicken was a tad salty. That small piece of Pecan pie was an afterthought and I didn't recall how it tasted either as it probably was either bad or outstanding. The service was prompt and fast. I didn't have to wait long for my food. To sum it up, the food was just OK , and the service was good. The ambiance was alright, but it seemed a little bit too bright for me. I probably would come back here if my coworkers want to come here, but I wouldn't pick this place as my lunch spot.

Paloma- spicy jalapeno margarita
Crystal M.

Visiting Houston with my sister and we were staying at the Whitehall hotel. Visited the restaurant for dinner and our server Andrew was amazing! So helpful, professional and friendly. He basically picked our menu items for us based on what we told him we like. We had the Paloma to drink, brisket tacos and oxtail stew (it was called soup but it was more hearty and thicker). Everything was great! Especially the tacos and the avocado cream sauce that came with it.

Disappointing lunch

We started by sharing a couple of appetizers - the smoked redfish dip and the biscuits. I'm weird about smells and aftertastes - and was hesitant to try the smoked redfish dip. The dip was flavorful and very smoky - the crackers it is served with were amazing. The aftertaste was tolerable, but a little fishy for me. The biscuits - I could write poems about them. I'd go back to eat baskets of just those biscuits. Highly recommend. My husband ordered the fried catfish platter - it was amazing. The catfish nuggets were crunchy and HOT (temperature), the fries were perfectly seasoned and the hush puppy was a crunch heard around the globe. Sadly, the shrimp and grits arrived to the table at room temp. The flavor was really good, but I was worried to mention the temp issue and have the kitchen nuke them in the microwave. The red beans and rice were similarly room temp and congealed. The restaurant atmosphere was lovely, the service was solid, and on a Tuesday evening we could have walked in and been seated quickly. Overall, it was a nice evening with our friends. Sometimes the company makes up for small disappointments.

We were sat relatively quick, I would put reservation for this place if I were you, but when we came it wasn't too busy. We were sat and was greeted by our server, Fabian. The vibe was very nice, had the R&B jams in the background but wasn't overly loud to where you can't converse. It was a beautiful sunny day outside and it reflected all throughout the large windows of the restaurant. A+ for the ambiance. We started off with mimosa carafes for the table, great blend of juice and champagne. No complaints at all about the mimosas. He started us with a round of biscuits, with butter & jelly on the side. Would give it overall rating of 8.5/10, I actually liked them they weren't too sweetened like other biscuits. For food, I ordered the Buttermilk Waffles, turkey links, and side of Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese. The food was good, above average in my opinion. The buttermilk waffles weren't overly crisp but still had nice warm flavor (8.7/10), turkey links were satisfactory (8.1/10), and the mac & cheese was above average as well, not out of this world but pretty good nonetheless (8.0/10). In my opinion, I give this restaurant a 5-stars, not just because of the food (4 stars), but just the overall experience. The ambiance was great, our server was hilarious, kept us entertained the entire time, and they were convenient nonetheless. They do 20% auto-gratuity as well. Was a calmer brunch with a good vibe, something that is very underrated in a city like Houston. I would recommend this place if you have older adult family in town or if you want an experience more... "demure" for a Sunday. I heavily recommend you ask for Fabian as well, very good server for us.

Though there was no rush at all while I was there with friends. In fact, the terrible waiter rushed us to order and was visibly annoyed that we were not wanting to order until the other person arrived. Once we order he must've taken a break because he did not return to the table until after the food had been brought out by kitchen staff. Lastly the terrible server did not show the ticket he told me the price I asked to review it and he let out a deep sigh and clutched the reader as if only he could hold it. I realized that he was clutching it because he had added an additional tip for himself. Despite the resturant automatically charging each guest 20% grautity. Additionally, the food...all of our plates came out separately with mine coming out 10 - 11 minutes after the others because the kitchen didn't have my order. Thankfully, the kitchen team was on top of it and made my food. The food was subpar, I will not return here. The only good item were this biscuits and the company I was with.

Want to start by saying I loved the atmosphere. Loved being able to sit at a bar, loved the music, and service was superb. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Catfish was pretty good. It had the perfect crunch and a plentiful portion so no complaints. Sides were good but not something I'd rave about. The étouffée was pretty solid but the Brussels could've been better. Maybe seasoning them a little more, cutting them in halves, and charring them would've done the job. Peach cobbler was so yummy. I loveeeee how they have offer for preferences with the peach cobbler (more crust, more filling, or neutral) because I personally love more crust. Kool aid was good but could stand to be just a tad bit less sweet with more flavor. All in all if you have a catfish craving and want good vibes and service I'd 1000% endorse this spot.

Pair it with the collard greens and that's a five-star combo all day. I was undecided on what to order, so I went with the cajun stuffed chicken exactly as it comes, along with mac & cheese and collard greens. The meal wasn't bad, but it wasn't that good either. The chicken, I'd probably skip next time, I took most to go and it went bad cause I couldn't do it. Mac wasn't anything to write home about either but again, them greens and cornbread are absolutely getting reordered. My friend ordered the key lime pie and enjoyed it, so that seemed to be another solid choice. But back to the real MVP of the visit which was our server, Eric. He made menu suggestions without being pushy, kept my glass full the entire meal, was kind, patient, and anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask. That level of service is becoming harder to find, and it definitely elevated the experience. Overall, the food landed somewhere in the middle for me, but Eric's service easily pushed this visit to four stars. I'll definitely be back...mainly for that cornbread lol.
