We came here by accident tbh. While on the way to Taste we saw they were closed for the day due to hosting an event. My niece and I were starving and this was directly across the street. I'm still here but wow this place slaps. Didn't have a fun travel day, missed the event I flew here for. Looked up "chill bar with food" because that's exactly what I wanted while I kill time until I can see my boys Chachi, his cousin Jeff, and our (their) sons. Paul was my bartender and I yielded most of my food/bev decisions to him. He did not lead me astray. Shrimp tacos were fire. The apple moonshine mule thing was also sick. There was also a cider that ruled. I thought I'd be here for an hour but because of logistics it turned into like 3. Met super cool members of the staff here like Devin. Met my uncle for dinner and he suggested we go try this place out and I'm happy we tried it out. Food: this has to be one of the best chicken fried steaks I've had. Fried to perfection and full of flavor. They definitely know how to season a great piece of chicken fried steak here. Every single bite was amazing. The mashed potatoes were good as well. Also the white gravy was amazing. I enjoyed my meal. My uncle seemed to really enjoy his fettuccine pasta as well. I'll definitely come back and try more dishes off their menu. I was surprised because every other restaurant was full at 11am on Saturday. The best thing was the mimosas. We ordered a carafe of them. I had the salad, they had no shrimp so I had to get chicken. The chicken was super dry. Luckily they had strawberries and grapes which made up for the chicken. I should have chosen another entree. My friend wanted black bean soup. When she asked what kind of sausage, they went back to check to make sure it was not beef sausage. The waitress came back and said they no longer put sausage. It's not a traditional Nashville hot sauce, it's sweet and spicy and tastes amazing. For those sensitive to spice, I'm positive this won't deter or burn your tastebuds!!! The chicken is crunchy and well seasoned and the fries were solid! My fiancée said the catfish was crunchy, flavorful and cooked perfectly. We also got their Mac and cheese which blew our freaking socks off. Cheesy, flavorful....they did a common side dish justice. Their blonde ale was very light abd came at a fantastic price, $6.50 for a 12 oz. I ordered the smoked brisket sandwich, with their sweet bbq sauce and slaw, and was able to appreciate the slow cooked brisket, but the sandwich overall was a bit underwhelming, and over loaded with far too much mediocre slaw. I am glad for oncewe did not look at the reviews or we might have avoided this place. The service is fast and its noticable immediately. The only way this could have been better is to make the waffles in house but you do what you have to. Great little pub feeling place with just enough seating to make the place feel small. The husband and I decided to come here last night and we are so glad we did! When you walk you, there's a sign telling you to seat yourself, so we did. I do not recall our server's name, but we had a couple of different people stop by while we were there and they were all so helpful! Husband got the Midnight Mule, and he commented how good it was and it really gave him a buzz (maybe because it was strong, maybe because he hadn't eaten since breakfast, or maybe both?). We were going to get appy's, but our server did state they are all large portions, so we skipped it sine it was just the two of us. For my entree, I ordered the Tuscan Chicken. It was so tasty with fresh veggies, goat cheese and a terrific lemon butter sauce. Husband ordered the chicken blackened fettuccine and he really enjoyed it, although he felt it needed 4 pieces of garlic bread, not 2. He did request more and our server gladly obliged. Happy Hour is 4-7, which just makes so much more sense because who can catch happy hour ending at 6 in this Houston traffic? I'll wait. Drinks are a few dollars off and they have some great bites! We tried the wings and sliders and both were really good. Personally, I only had the wings but they were the perfect combination of crisp and flavor! The happy hour menu comes with a smaller portion than what is on the appetizer menu, but the flavor is the same! I would seriously come back for the wings alone! My friend had the sliders and also said they were pretty good. They must've been packed with meat because she couldn't finish all of them. The brisket grilled cheese is a must try -- the brisket is also full of flavor and they definitely aren't skimpy on the portions. The fries are simple, yet really good especially when they're hot and fresh! Drinks are good too! I tried both the Strawbery Breeze and the Peach Shine Tea, but the strawberry is better! Only $7 during happy hour which caught me by surprise when the bill came. Service is meh, nothing special. Even when they aren't super busy, we found ourselves looking for and needing to flag down our waitress, but still a great place to eat.
