Stopped in on a Sunday after check out. It's within walking distance to the Hyatt Downtown Houston. I could hear the music from the outside but when I walked in I couldn't smell a thing cooking. It's prime brunch time, noonish. There were a few people already eating. I ordered a Cranberry Rose Mimosa while I glanced the menu, nothing caught my eye. I kindly paid and left.

Great little place in downtown Houston, nicely decorated with moonshine theme, the moonshine apple pie was really good, and strong! The filet was delicious, staff was friendly and attentive, would definitely go back again.

Highly recommend the signature moon shiner burger, which comes with generous portion of french fries. The selection of beers and signature drinks is decent. There is a secluded outdoor patio surrounding the restaurant. Service was good and happy hour runs Monday through Friday 3 PM to 6 PM

Went to Moonshiners for brunch for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! The place has a fun, Southern vibe with great energy, perfect for a weekend brunch. I got the chicken and waffles which was crispy, flavorful chicken with fluffy waffles that hit the spot. The portions were generous too. Service was friendly and quick, even though it was pretty busy. Definitely impressed for a first visit during the day! I'd come back to try more of their brunch dishes (and maybe a cocktail next time!).

I'm still here but wow this place slaps. Didn't have a fun travel day, missed the event I flew here for. Looked up "chill bar with food" because that's exactly what I wanted while I kill time until I can see my boys Chachi, his cousin Jeff, and our (their) sons. Paul was my bartender and I yielded most of my food/bev decisions to him. He did not lead me astray. Shrimp tacos were fire. The apple moonshine mule thing was also sick. There was also a cider that ruled. I thought I'd be here for an hour but because of logistics it turned into like 3. Met super cool members of the staff here like Devin. The music they play here rips. I'm about to get picked up by Chachi so have to wrap this up. I'll leave it by saying they have a neon sign that says southern hospitality on the wall, this evening certainly demonstrated/over-performed in this regard. Thanks Moonshiners & crew P.S. Moonshine is not as strong as Malört. Was very easy for me to shoot

Came here after taste across the street had a 2hr wait so decided to go here since they had tables open and I'm glad we did. Food was amazing, the staff were lovely. If in ever back to Houston again, I'll come back here

Great and affordable happy hour! Several options for cocktails and food. Also got brisket sliders, but ate them too fast to take a photo. Staff was great, checking in frequently. Wasn't too crowded and able to get seated right away. Rustic decor and great music!

Met my uncle for dinner and he suggested we go try this place out and I'm happy we tried it out. Food: this has to be one of the best chicken fried steaks I've had. Fried to perfection and full of flavor. They definitely know how to season a great piece of chicken fried steak here. Every single bite was amazing. The mashed potatoes were good as well. Also the white gravy was amazing. I enjoyed my meal. My uncle seemed to really enjoy his fettuccine pasta as well. I'll definitely come back and try more dishes off their menu. The customer service was excellent. Cameron did a great job. He has a good attitude and checked on us the entire night. He made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. I was thoroughly impressed with his customer service. We will definitely come back here and try more food.

My friends were taking me to brunch for my birthday. We decided on Moonshiners. The place was cute and we got jn with zero wait. I was surprised because every other restaurant was full at 11am on Saturday. The best thing was the mimosas. We ordered a carafe of them. I had the salad, they had no shrimp so I had to get chicken. The chicken was super dry. Luckily they had strawberries and grapes which made up for the chicken. I should have chosen another entree. My friend wanted black bean soup. When she asked what kind of sausage, they went back to check to make sure it was not beef sausage. The waitress came back and said they no longer put sausage. The menu should be updated because if she didn't ask, she might not have noticed it changed. I probably won't go back, was just ok for me.

Came for a Saturday brunch while visiting Houston. The brunch was very delicious. Brunch sliders, so good. The gravy well made, bun soft, and the chicken fried steak tips amazing. The service is good. The waiter was polite and very friendly. He provided excellent service. The restaurant is clean and has a nice bar. Plenty of TVs to watch sports and a couple cocktails.

The food had potential, but not everything hit the mark. The burger looked great on the plate, but the bacon was disappointingly soggy, and the onions and tomatoes didn't have that crisp, fresh bite I expected. On the bright side, the burger patty and fries were flavorful and well-seasoned, and the chicken and waffles were definitely the standout dish--crispy, sweet, and full of flavor. The atmosphere was lovely, and the drinks were solid, especially the mimosa. But the service? It started off rough. I almost walked out because of the energy. It's hard for me to enjoy a meal when... ummmm.. To their credit, things got better toward the end, but that first impression lingered.

Went on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Place was empty. We'd been before on a Saturday night and it was packed. Portions are large. Food came out piping hot. Hubby and I shared and still had food left.

Even this time the GPS took us to an entrance that had us going the wrong way down a one-way, but we eventually figured it out I will say that the parking isn't all that great, but we were able to find a spot. If the parking lot is full you should be able to find street parking nearby Kanpai Club is a sister location to Handos. They share a kitchen and you can walk through an inside door access either. You can find the same cocktails and bites from Handos on the Kanpai menu, but there's also additional drinks and bites The bar feels like a Japanese Izakaya. It's a narrow space resembling a Japanese outdoor bar. It's intimately lit and well decorated. We did have to wait for two spots to open up, but that didn't take too long The bartenders were friendly, professional, and efficient. We went on a Friday night (fairly late), and they had two dedicated bartenders The cocktails were fun and were beautifully crafted. Most were served in novelty glassware. You can order classic cocktails, but both Kanpai and Hando offer a variety of signature cocktails. Most having some sort of Japanese or Asian fusion. They have beer, wine, and extensive sake list, as well as green tea and other nonalcoholic options The cocktails were tasty. The only one I was iffy on was their Espresso martini. It was poured from a machine and I guess there were having issues with it. The presentation was phenomenal. There was a roasted marshmallow garnish. The drink itself was far too Smokey in flavor than I like, or at least in terms of my espresso martinis The Yuzu Kosho fries were incredible. The flavors really hit the spot. The Okinawa Potato salad was both questionable to looks and and to eat lol. This purple mound of potato's had an interesting taste, look, and consistency. It wasn't bad, just... interesting and new Some tips: If you can't find this spot from the street, look for Handos. It's part of this restaurant Ask the bartender about the happy hour menu. And most nights they're open until 12am, but on Fridays and Saturdays they are open until 2am If you order food online (technically from Hando's) you can get 10% off using code: HANDO10. This is part of their "Hando and Chill" special Cheers!!

Midtown with their questionable parking makes me not want to go. Upon entering, the place is a nice, intimate setting, with a handful of seating areas along with bar and outside seating. Recommend bringing a light jacket as it was a bit cold. The menu had a variety of offerings, and noted that all drinks are $12. They are card only, so bring your card or tap to pay and also your ID. Because they are 3 feet from a school and are considered a private club, they comply with TABC regulations to ensure safety and efficiency in their business. From the variety of the drinks, I opted for my signature drink, an Old Fashioned, it definitely had a bite to it. I slowly sipped on it while I lounged in one of the seating areas. My sister tried the Starduster Ranch Water, and she didn't like it, I had a sip of it and it tasted like only way I can describe is like soap. Saw that they also have Mocktails and THC Beverages, I didn't try any of them. We headed out as we were trying to grab dinner and Starduster doesn't currently offer food. I did get to speak with Dylan again outside and he clued me in on a couple of things they are planning to do such as having food trucks and also open the upstairs for additional space. Overall, I know being new (had just opened last week) there are many things being worked on and do hope that things improve here and they add additional seating, it got busy for a bit and seating was standing only. Thankfully I was there early enough and got a nice cozy seating area. I removed a star because both my drink and my sister weren't really anything special, it tasted like they were premade and poured from a tap, I missed seeing each one be made. I did like that there aren't TV's inside, it helps maintain the personal interactions natural and focused. Outside they do have TV's which makes sense for bigger groups. Though the seating is limited inside, likely to maintain it as a cozy and intimate space, outside has a lot of seating AND they are PET FRIENDLY! In cold weather without heating lamps, don't think anyone would really sit out there. Once spring and summer arrive, it will be nice. On their menu they indicate "Weekly Specials" Spaghetti Western Sundays Monday Night Steak Night (not sure why it wasn't happening the day I was there, would've enjoyed some steak) Tarot Tuesdays Whiskey Wednesday
