poor service. servers have to be asked multiple times for the same thing. food portions are minuscule, expensive, and below average quality. my daughter ordered the chicken and received a skinny little breast with a dollop of potatoes at $27. my risotto was undercooked with not much taste. shameful. this is a college town eatery and my daughter is a freshman and we visited for our first parents weekend and we will NEVER return. we should have known better as when we arrived and left, the restaurant was more than half empty on the busiest college weekend of the year. don't waste your time or money. read more

Soup of the day which was fish soup excellent but will it be on the day you go?lettuce chicken wrap ok but weird as it was not wrapped but was chicken strips and lettuce. Angus steak with snap peas. This was ok but made a difference with housin sauce. Very salty and Thai taste? Crewme bulee good. Cocktails very good and local beer at $5 good and good choice but that was personal. This is my favorite place to go out to eat. The chef, Tim, is incredibly talented and his food is always consistently great. It's one of the rare restaurants where your memory of the food falls short of how good the food actually is. With a blend of French and Asian cuisine, there's something on the menu for everyone, even a good range of prices. My wife had heard good things about Edge so I made reservations to celebrate our wedding anniversary. When I called in for the reservation, I asked for a romantic spot and was told that wouldn't be a problem. When we arrived, we were given a table right next to the bar. When I inquired with a staff member about possibly changing location, I was ignored. Our waiter ignored us most of the time and our meals arrived cold and had to be sent back to the kitchen. I was very disappointed with Edge. The staff was pretentious and the food was average at best. For the price, I expect a better atmosphere, service, and food quality. Drive me to (the) Edge, I love it!! For the past few years, the story has been the same. They always have a decent crowd but can always accomodate me. I've arrived at the restaurant dressed 'to the nines' with reservations and also in jeans and a t-shirt, dropping in at the last minute, and I get consistent, excellent service each time. It's a great atmosphere to settle back, breathe and soak up the chic-chill ambience. The manager/I don't know what his title is but I dig him, he's been there for years and is young (appearing) and knowledgeable and gracious. The wait staff is professional, well trained, and even if they get confused on occasion, they're interesting to look at, so no complaints! The drinks ... excellent - I'm a fan of fancy drink menus and there's always something new. Just drank a "Pimm's Cup" there and that's the first time I've ever seen that on a menu. Very refreshing and summery. The menu changes with seasons and chef's choices so I always like to see what's new. This time I had the European Chicken (I think it was called), and I know this sounds weird because we all eat chicken all the time, but it was the BEST chicken I've tasted. It was served alongside crunchy fried risotto sticks arranged log-cabin style and perfect crisp vegetables. So there's this mixture of irreverence, eclectic flavors and creative (but not overly so) foods. Dessert is a must and this time we shared a lemon and berry and pound cake trifle which was INSANELY scrumptious. Prepare to spend about $100 on dinner and drinks for two. read more

FABULOUS! The service was great. I'm not sure of our waitress's name, but she had short blonde & pink hair. She was an absolute doll! We ordered the calamari and edamame appetizers and they were great! We used our bread to enjoy the rest of the sauce from the calamari! It was delicious. I ordered the crab cakes as my entree and they were delicious. Perfectly flake ly crab on the inside and a little crunch on the outside. It was served with a coleslaw-ish type salad and potato gratin. Everything was superb! For dessert, I had the salted caramel tart with rosemary whipped cream and candied ginger. It sounds strange, but it was executed perfectly. I'm still dreaming about it a week later! Wine was good, nothing special. I will certainly return! read more

I would rate this place higher if...the waitstaff wasn't so pretentious, the bar was in a separate room and there wasn't a freaking hockey game on on the TV in the main dining room. Here's my problem with places like this...ask yourself, what kind of restaurant are you, whom do you want to cater to? Happy hour patrons? Barflies? Single scene? The menu is relatively eclectic and the food was quite good, even though I have been steered away from this restaurant by everyone I know in the area...I was surprised. However, when I sit down to a meal with ambient music and lovely atmosphere, I want to enjoy my $35 steak without having to hear noisy bar patrons and see a hockey game. I had issues with the waiter, who was cocky when I told him my drink was nothing like the first one he had brought me. My husband called him on his attitude and he apologized and then sent over his equally snarky restaurant manager. For a $300 bill, I expect to be treated with more respect. A really good, albeit swanky meal in downtown Bethlehem that was most definitely worth the hype. From start to finish, everything we tried was great. My favorite part was the entree, chicken with truffle sauce. I really liked the layout of the plate too: two well-placed sides of brussels and fingerling potatoes. I would have gladly tried several more appetizers and I suspect we will return for apps and drinks again very soon. It seemed to have a lively bar after work on a Friday too. read more

I was in town for business and this restaurant was highly recommended by a colleague. The restaurant manager Mr. Carlos was very knowledgeable and very helpful. I told him it was my first time and he went out of his way to show me their parking which connects to the restaurant. I like Edge a lot now. I didn't used to, but the magic is -- know which Edge you want to go to and make sure you teleport to the right spot! Great bar -- happy hour weekdays with reduced price drinks and 1/2 price bar food including nicely-fried calamari and other upscale munching food. The bar scene can be a little business chic and meat-marketish, but the drinks are fine, and I like sports, so the ComCast Sportsnetwork on the big screen TV is OK, too, especially if I'm alone and in the mood for a snack and a wee libation that I'd never make at home and would not enjoy in solitude anyway. Serious dining -- if you don't mind the competition with bar scene, the adjacent space is fine; the treat on a balmy summer night is to eat outside under the awning. Now let's talk about the food -- it has actually gotten better in the last year or so, so if you haven't been here in a while, try it again. The sauces are more subtle and the eclectic combinations work. The toasted sesame-seed encrusted, sushi-grade tuna with soba and edamame is excellent, and the shaved beet salad as a starter is mild and flavorful (see photos). So why only 4-stars? Edge is good but it's not yet great -- and it has to do with the type of restaurant that a place aspires to be. Does it deliver on it's promise? For the prices charged and the attitude and atmosphere projected, Edge should deliver a little more. It's very, very good, but in it's category (expenisve, up-scale, creative gourmet food, high-quality dining experience), it is not yet great. For those of you who frequent Manhattan -- it's in the category of O'Neils and Rosa Mexacana at Lincoln Center and Etc Etc in the theater district, but not quite up to Visa Versa and certainly not Aquavit, and it clearly aspires to the latter group. This is a warning to anyone who likes real crab cakes. Do not get them here . I ate here last week and was extremely disappointed in the crab cakes . I could hardly believe it. They are definitely not lump but some small rounded mushy thing. They were something like you would get at a cheap diner but worse and 3 x the price. The setting is refined, great for an upscale intimate celebration, or maybe dinner with parents. Service is usually good, but not always. I would suggest getting an appetizer, this is one place Edge shines! Suggest: Tarragon Gnocchi w/ Duck Confit Salted caramel tart (Save room, its worth it!) Avoid: Spring rolls, bland. A nice upscale option in a blue collar town. We went here for the GF's friend's anniversary dinner on a Saturday night. Everyone ordered starters but for me, a mistake on my part. They are small portions, so it's difficult to share. They had the pork belly, gnocchi, and mussels. All were solid apps. Depending on you, decent to good. For the main dish, the guys had the lamb chops and the girls had the duck breast. Both were good. Properly moist and tender but most importantly not dried out. Service was good and attentive. From the "destination appetizer" tuna tartare to the even more tantalizing beet tartare served over lightly dressed arugula, every detail of preparation is special. Wonderful experience this evening at Edge Restaurant. Rich helped select a delicious Wine - Bonanza Cabernet. Meredith served and kept the water filled and us attended to in perfect timing. The Brie small plate with pecans and apples was delicious and perfect size for 4 of us. Dinner selection of crab cakes with the best cole slaw I have ever had. Others had the chicken penne with plenty for leftovers. The peanut butter Oreo crust pie was the choice for all four of us and we would all do it again. The hostess and other staff were so friendly throughout the evening as well. I loved the whole evening!! I wish I had taken pictures! I had soup and two appetizers. The scallops were cut in half and the cooking severely dried them out. That made no sense to me to do that. The other appetizer was bland as well. The soup was OK; but, again not impressive. So, overall I was disappointed in my first experience at this restaurant. I won't be back. read more

Not impressed with the service. Megan, our server, was amazing. However, the other guys that came around almost rushed us out the door. At some point, one of them literally stood next to me, and waited about 30 seconds, until I had the last bite, to take my plate. I found this to be rather rude, since there were other people who were still dining (we were not the last couple to come in.) I understand that the restaurant closes at 10:00 P.M.; but perhaps Edge should not take 9:30 P.M. reservations, if leaving at 10:00 P.M. is the staff's goal. I loved this restaurant (and Tim, the chef.) I guess it is time to try other places. :( read more

This place has serious customer service issues. Had dinner here on 5/3/18, and the manager has no concept of the idea of customer service. Had an issue with the wine which they were out of stock of the bottle we ordered that the waiter and bartender recommended. They offered an alternative which was $8 more but manager would not honor the lower price or make it right. We canceled our dinner order and went across the street to Twisted Olive which is a much better restaurant. They lost out on a $300 dinner because she wouldn't budge on $8. The 2nd day of my 50th Liberty/Freedom high school reunion was held here Sunday evening. Even though I am from Bethlehem, I didn't know the parking garage comes right out to the rear entrance on level four. We found street parking just a block away, so it was ok. Next time I will know! Not quite sure this restaurant is equipped to handle so may people all eating at the same time! We got in the room with food line pretty early, but staff could not keep up with silverware, plates, or even the food. Everything ran out at one point or another. Food was absolutely delicious, and served nice & hot. Getting drinks at the bar took a few minutes with the size of our group, so I can fault anyone here. Service was fine. Nice place! Wife said the ladies' room was a little dark? Just her comment! I didn't check. Didn't need the men's room. When the desert was served, they also ran out of coffee (I was fine - I drink decaf) and also 1/2 & 1/2. My wife went for some coffee & by then even the milk was gone. Good coffee!!!! I see great reviews for this location, so maybe I am a little hard on them. But I have been to many places with large groups and I have seen smoother operations. I will check this place out with my wife for dinner sometime! read more

This is one of our favorite restaurants and we have just dined on the patio which has the perfect breeze and ambiance. The waiters and waitresses don't hover over you and the chef (how many do you know who are at the same establishment after 12 years?!!) is extremely creative with the best apps and entree specials every night. Get there for 5-7 happy hour and have the homemade dim sum. read more

After dining here on numerous occasions over the last several years, my wife and I went here last night during restaurant week, and were pleasantly surprised. Had I reveiwed this place earlier, I would have rated it lower. But I was very pleased. We started with a few appetizers, the foie gras, tarragon gnocchi, spinach salad, and roast pepper soup. All well terrific, nice combination of flavors, and no one ingredient really overpowered the dish. For entrees, she had a crispy pork belly rice bowl, and I thought I'd try the crab cakes--a departure from my usual beef or lamb. The service was among the most polished we'd ever had in the Lehigh Valley, and we had a great time. Will definately go again. ~A few tips: take your wallet, and try opening up your palate by trying something new. There's a lot going on in the kitchen. read more

The Edge has shown staying power in the increasingly crowded Lehigh Valley restaurant scene. Recently, rumblings arose stating that the Edge was for sale and a buyer was in the works. Local newspapers confirmed that offers had been made but the owners decided against it. Thankfully The Edge will stay in the hands of locals and remain pushing out quality asian fusion for a long time. We used Open Table to gain a reservation. We used the attached deck and walked across the skywalk so parking was very simple. Our party of four was quickly seated and greeted by our server. The ambiance is slick and modern with a variety of tables within the two dining areas. The space was more or less full with a few people seated at the bar. We ordered drinks and appetizers first. The table had a cheese plate, red pepper hummus dip, tuna tartar, and a Caesar salad. Each of these portions were perfect for sharing. The cheese plate had three options depending on the daily selection and some additional selections. The cheeses were the perfect complimentary flavors with a combination of creamy and tangy. Overall it was a very strong cheese plate.The hummus had a great consistency and the accompanying pitas were warm and made for perfect spreading. The tuna was very flavorful and well presented and prepared. For entrees the table had two four ounce fillets, short ribs, and crab cakes. The fillets and short ribs were wonderful prepared and the accompanying sides fit the meals well. Both of the fillets were properly cooked and the flavor was spot on. The short ribs were very tender and dish was good. The crab cakes were ok. Personally, we are crab cake snobs spending a great deal of time on the Eastern Shore and these were not particularly good. The flavor was on but they were lacking true lumps of crab meat. For a dessert we shared the oatmeal raisin chip which. It was the perfect dessert for a table of four to share. Overall, our experience at the Edge was good and we would absolutely recommend coming to the Edge and we will be back in the future. read more

Over three years since my last review and admit that I still love this place. Had the NY strip last night and it was just about perfect. Very hard to find a steak as good even at those pricey steak joints, of which there is only one around here. Tuna tartare appetizer is so good that you just melt in you chair. Beet salad and chicken lettuce wraps were also to die for. Four of had only two dishes, the Halliburton fish special and the previously mentioned steak. Service by Kim was outstanding. Actually we go often enough that Kim is frequently our server and she does a great job. She must have overheard us congratulating the other couple because their desserts came out dressed with a happy anniversary message. They were thrilled. Also on the dessert menu were adult beverages we had to try. The Bananas Foster was delicious. Truly great food, terrific service and creative bar tending really set Edge apart. I really enjoyed the dinner here and would go back again in a hearbeat. Presentations were great, food excellent, drinks pretty good (would have loved a better presentation on the cocktails for $10 a pop...but they definately weren't shy on the alcohol content...so that made up for it easily). Calimari, Chicken with the Brie/Onion stuffed within it, and Peanut Butter pie all were solid picks. Soup De Jour (potato, onion, duck soup...I have no idea what it was called...it was excellent). Salads were very good as well. Pace isn't terribly slow as mentioned in other reviews (we went on a Saturday evening at 6pm).....we never felt neglected by the staff at all. If you need a go to dinner for a date / small get together / good impression....I don't think you could go wrong here. It would fit what you needed / wanted. Bring your wallet though..... read more

After a few experiences at Edge I wanted to add my two cents. Edge is not my upscale-ish restaurant of choice. Edge was one of the first nicer urban restaurants to hit the Lehigh Valley and it shows. I feel like they are trying way too hard to be cool, and just coming up short. I guess by LV standards it's ok, but I have never been impressed. That said I have been to some awesome benefit events here which attracts a young crowd. Also been here for appetizers and half price drinks during the week which was a blast. A good place to grab a few drinks with friends, but skip the dinner. read more

First of all, nice atmosphere and good location in Bethlehem. My wife and I were excited to give this place a try. We had reservations and were seated right away. Our table was by the window with a good view of the street. Service was adequate but the staff was just unfriendly in general. We started with some small plates that were very forgettable. Nothing special. The cauliflower gets an honorable mention. The main course was the petite filet and it was horrendous! Tough as a nail with an overpowering gravy. What a shame! Might be ok to stop in for a cocktail but don't waste your time or money if you are looking for exceptional food. read more

2 of my friends and I came here Saturday after the Cocktail Trail event that was held in town. We had reservations for 5pm, but arrived around 4:45. We were told we would not be able to order off the dinner menu until 5pm sharp. We were seated at a table in the middle of the room. We asked for a booth and told they were all reserved (we made our reservations about 2-3 weeks ago). Side note: the booths stayed empty nearly the entire time we were there - some the entire time. The vibe of this restaurant is great, the decoration and the ambiance. Our waiter seemed very rehearsed and too formal for a fun Saturday night out. We ordered 2 apps of the happy hour menu to start, since we were about 7 minutes too early for the dinner menu at this point. We also ordered a pitcher of Sangria. When they brought our apps they also brought us the pork belly app, the waiter came over about 5 minutes later, saw that we had pork belly that we didn't order and removed it from the table. We said we were going to order that anyway at 5pm, but he grabbed it and took it back to the kitchen. We were all definitely taken aback by this move. I go out to eat often, and have never had something like that happen, especially since we were waiting to order it and we were told we couldn't yet. It seems wasteful to have brought it back to the kitchen. I have to say everything we ordered was great, we split 4 apps (pork belly, cheese plate, tuna tartar, and calamari). The Sangria was super sweet and didn't taste like it had much alcohol in it. I think we were all left wanting more at the end... nothing quite hit the spot for any of us.
