Okay, so your room is conveniently (or not so conveniently) located at the back edge of a couple of supermarket parking lots, and butted up to the "bay" with a view of our last remaining local efforts in the timber industry. Still, I challenge you to find anything much nicer in the area since we are a bit restaurant and motel challenged in Coos Bay/North Bend. Edgewater Inn may be a bit overpriced for the location and amenities but It's among the best of what we have to offer in overnight accommodations. We drove from Missouri to California and stopped at lots of motels along the way, and can I just say that the edge water was worth every penny and a very pleasant stay. For the price, we received a spacious and very clean room. Access to the pool til 10pm, a continental breakfast which comprises of lots of different bagels with toasters and cream cheese/butter, spreads and honey, lots of different pastries and donuts, apples, banAna's, oranges, orange juice, cranberry juice, tea, coffee, hot choc, packet oatmeal, wrapped breakfast bars. Pretty good for a 2 star continental breakfast at a motel if you ask me ! Clean lobby / eating area beside a Flatscreen playing the weather channel. Friendly staff. Closeby to Fred Meyer and other shops, not far from the town center! We felt safe, no riff raff hanging about. Great, powerful shower pressure with supplied conditioning shampoo, facial soap and body soap. Boyd's coffee in the room. Bar fridge. It's very 80s-90s style that obviously hasn't been updated but it's not falling apart or decaying and it doesn't smell bad!! Pros: location next to groceries/water/town is awesome, nice back door in room, dog friendly, free continental breakfast, microwave and fridge in room, water pressure was heavenly, yard area was well-cared for, and early check-in available. Cons: lack of light in rooms, lack of outlets, hot tub was lukewarm, pool was cloudy, coffee was way too strong, thin walls, carpets dirty, and god awful internet that worked 20% of the time. For people who want to stay here, I think it would be a great economy choice for families and people with pets. This place is tired and old beaten up and rundown and a sorry example of a hotel. It has had it's time. If there are difficulties during your stay they (the staff) is absolutely not versed nor trained to handle "issues". The management and front desk people have no idea of how to manage themselves and know what the hospitality business is all about. This place FALLS SHORT. It got to be as though I was in a correction facility. I got scolded and told I was a problem from the beginning. - I asked for a knife to cut cantaloupe -asked to be moved because the family above was bowling. They insisted that I wait until they (the family above) to calm down...hell know.. I want sleep NOW. Oh, that didn't go over well -I asked for a toothbrush -I wanted a detailed invoice....it was a resounding NO. What the.....which hotel doesn't offer a receipt?......BULLSHIT. I made them write out a handwriiten one (oh dear oh dear). -asked for directions and Tammy just pointed her hand over her head and said "that way" -I was almost incarserated because I propped the door open to the -laundry room so THAT I AND another person could share the washer and dryer (the room) at the same time. It all escalated into a over the front desk verbal street fight. There was no management to step in because it was her birthday over this Labor Day weekend and she was off at this crucial holiday weekend. All of the front desk people, GET OUT OF THE HOTEL BUSINESS. They don't have the knowledge or the personalities in dealing with the public. I actually spoke with the manager days later on the phone ...she said she would get back to me, but didn't. Due to this and am conveying my experience on this platform due to this. Arrived here around 4 pm on a Tuesday in the latter half of September. There were perhaps 10 cars in the lot. Desk clerk refused to match Expedia rate, quoting us at $30 more. This place needs updated! It smells musty, the bedding looks like it's from 1960. The carpet has pet stains and being on the River you get a fowl smell in your room if you have the slider open. I will look elsewhere the next time I'm in Coos Bay for work. read more

Because we decided to bring in our dog they had to move us from the modern nice room with large tv to an old un updated room with super old ugly bedding , small tv , and old furniture. I don't think that's fair just because we have a furry friend with us. other room doors would slam so hard it shook and scared the crap out of me every time throughout the night and woke up to hearing sex noises from the room next door, not quiet either , it was LOUD. not cool since we have 2 kids and don't need to be hearing that! when we brought it up to staff in the morning they were rude and said there's nothing they can do because we didn't call down in the middle of the night which I guess is understandable but they don't have to be so mean about it, customer service is reallyyyyyyyyy bad here. fridge also was so cold it froze our milk so no cereal for the kids in the morning. :( and the swimming pool was so filthy dirty / murky waters that we couldnt swim which was the only reason we rented this hotel in the first place and then the next day the pool was closed for mainenance . don't stay here! read more

On our first annual trip to Coos Bay to see the Christmas Lights at Shore Acres we decided to book a couple of days in the area to explore. Some of the hotels are pretty pricey but this one fit our bill. This hotel was actually perfect for our 2 day stay. It's pet friendly and located right off of HWY 101. The landscape is well cared for and it has a nice appearance. The room's front door is on the parking lot side and your sliding door faces the river out back. There is a nice lawn area in the back for the rooms on the bottom just to hang out as well as a nice dock out back to just sit on with a cocktail and watch the water. They also have a nice indoor pool with a spa. We didn't partake in either as it was just too cold to get there from our room. The room itself if a regular standard hotel room, 2 queens, a small refrigerator & TV. It's clean but aged. It did exactly was we wanted by giving us a nice warm room and bed to stay in. The staff were very nice and gave us some fun places to visit on our stay. They also provide a continental breakfast which is a nice start to the day. For the price it was perfect for us! read more

This is your standard coastal, built in the 60's, tried a couple face lifts over the years, mix of old and new, upgraded on a budget, crappy location, motels. On the plus side: large room with vaulted ceiling (at least on the upper floor), nice balcony, waterfront on what is basically a wide ditch, awesome shower head that's like a fire hose, recently had paint and some basic upgrades. Down side: older fixtures, drains that don't drain, in the corner of a Safeway and Fred Meyer parking lot, just basically an old place that's been patched together over the years. Overall, like I said to begin with, this is your standard Oregon coast hotel/motel. It's old, it's weathered, it's trying to hang on by patchwork repair improvements - just like all the other Oregon Coast options. read more

Had my parents stay here for a visit with their grandchildren. A big deciding factor was the pool access for the two older kids. At reservation time we paid extra for a room with a view. When we checked in they tried giving us one without and then tried say they where all booked and couldn't get us into anything else (the parking lot was half full through the night). After getting a second person involved they gave us a room which was decent. the shower had great pressure but there was a high pitch noise to it that made it unbearable to stay in longer than 5 minutes if that. The bathroom door would not close either. Continental breakfast was a few outdated fruit options, apple sauce, and donuts. Pool hours are 6am - 10 pm but was closed from 8am to 830am according to the sign on one of the two doors for water testing. The front desk lady was upset when asked about it because "there was a sign", just not at the door we where trying to use. We where bummed and irritated because we finally had a sleeping baby in the hotel for the mom's to have a little relaxation in the hot tub, they did testing the night before with everyone in pool, why wasn't the pool tested during off hours if it needed to be closed, and when we went back at 840 we where told it would be another 15 minutes and baby's where awake by then. I've never experienced the lack of customer service as I have here. This surprised me since the front desk staff was super friendly and nice. I stayed one night, and the room smelled like dirty socks so bad that the clean clothes in my suitcase took on the smell of that room. Since I was there only one night, I didn't hassle changing the room because I figured they'd probably all be like that. But here's why I'm leaving a review: One-night stay, the charge was $94.00 plus taxes. When I got back to my office and prepared my expenses for this trip, I noticed that the charge was $143.00....AND...I checked my credit card charges and there were THREE room charges: totaling approximately $800.00! Multiple phone calls to this hotel have gotten me no results. The manager, Desiree, won't even return my phone calls after leaving her two voicemails. Unacceptable. Now I'll resort to disputing these bogus credit card charges with the bank. This is the only bad review that I've ever given any service. Needless to say, I will never stay here again. read more

I'm not sure why the bad reviews... I've stayed in some nasty hellholes in my travels, and this place was NOT one of them. We got a pet friendly room, which was very clean and nice. The flooring was not carpet, which is nice with animals in a room, easier to clean. The room was large and open, but with typical horrid patterns and artwork (but really, who cares). There is a sliding glass door out back to a nice lawn with easy access to the motel's private pet area, which was all nicely groomed and landscaped. The indoor pool was very clean and they use salt instead of tons of chlorine. There is a shower inside the pool area with a jacuzzi. The breakfast is very plain, donuts and fruit and bagels. But seriously, whoever is writing bad reviews probably needs to start paying more for their hotel rooms and quit expecting royal treatment at a basic inn. The place is clean, there aren't tweekers in the next room, the staff is nice, and everything works. That in itself is worth the piddly 80 a room on a holiday weekend. I've stayed in places where I didn't even want to walk on the floor without shoes on for nearly twice that price. So everyone quit complaining. Major CON: THE WIFI SUUUUUCKS. read more

Wouldn't have been my first pick as my wife and I like staying at B&Bs. But everyting in the area was booked, That being said this place wasn't so bad. The place is dated, no getting around that. Circa 1970s or 80s. It seems there are two sections. The one to the south is like a motel with doors facing out. The north half of the building has doors facing a central hallway. Thats where we stayed. There is no elevator so be prepared to lug your luggage. The outer doors are not secured. Room doors had a deadbolt, but no chain. The room itself was big. High (12 ft) ceilings with a king bed and a sitting area (full couch and love seat). It was clean and in good repair. So was the bathroom. The shower worked well (good because I am a shower hog). No complaints on the room. The staff was polite and I had no issues there. I'm gonna file this one under contingency plans. read more

I would never stay here again. I knew it wasn't a 5 star luxury hotel when we booked it but I was highly disappointed when we arrived. The rooms are gross, dirty and outdated. I found a nail stuck in the blanket on my bed. An old bobby pin from a previous guest was stuck to the floor. There is no latch on the door, just the one dead bolt and the outside doors in the parking to the rooms are not secure - they are open all the time. It is not quiet.. You can hear everything your neighbors are doing.. Especially those above stomping around! The breakfast in the morning was pretty blah too. I am glad my mom and I were only staying one night on our way up the coast. We didn't even shower -- we just got out of town!! If I were you considering a place to stay in Coos Bay.. Coos Bay has it perks for the people that love it. Beaches, Dunes, ATV's, Fishing and Hunting. For those of us who have lived there our whole lives, the perks fade...fast. I still would love to fish or hunt down there, due to knowing the spots, but would I wanna stay in the Edgewater Inn again? Nahhh...I'm over that place...and have been. When my family and I moved to Coos Bay back in 1993, we stayed here for a few weeks waiting for the house to be built. Then, I loved it...I mean hell I was 12. Since staying there in my 20's, there is ONE thing I still enjoy. The deck out back. That's about it. Think about it, if you're a local or an out-of-towner, do you really wanna look at that muddy ass slough? HELL NO! It's depressing. But that's where the decks face...and again, it's nice to have the deck. A deck alone cant justify $100+ a night. Honestly, I would rather stay at the Red Lion. Rude people running this business. They screwed up, and try to cover each others backs instead of apologies and making the customer feel better. My nephew had his stash box, which was in his luggage sitting on the table in our room. House keeping came in in the morning while we were out, and tidied up the room. The house keeper reports to the office that we're smoking in our room. In the interim, my nephew returned to the room, and takes a shower. Butt ass naked, he hears the door open. He shuts the bathroom door to cover his nakedness, and peeked around it. She proceeded to tell him that he's been smoking in the room and that he could be fined for smoking in the room. He tells her the room hasn't been smoked in, it's just the smell from his stash box. She proceeded to tell him that even that can be a fine. She has a warming notice in hand and my nephew tells her to drop it on the floor. She enters the room, and reached around and placed it on the sink counter and departs. No oops sorry, thought you were still out of the room have a notice for you and dropped it on the floor. This situation was so unprofessionally handled it's not funny. At the office when we went to explain why the room smelled like pot, the house keeper was there. We pointed her out, and she denied it was her. He pulled out the paper(busted) and then she admitted it was her. Everyone at the front desk started hem hawing about how they have to ensure this and that etc. etc. We just turned and walked out. I told my nephew, he should have opened the bathroom door and really given her an eyefull. read more

The room itself was furnished with outdated decor and appliances however it was clean and spacious for four. The water view, they wanted to charge us more for, was nothing more than a large pond with a saw mill for a view. The complimentary breakfast was nothing more than donuts and coffee, tea or juice (diluted with to much water). Over all we rested well. The motel was warm and quiet. Constantly threatening you by saying if that happens again your outta here. Sorry i had a visitor who brought their 2 young boys and got loud. I also had my pets there. Pet friendly my ass. They made me feel like a prisoner because of my dogs. They told me I could not leave my pets in room at all. Even in a kennel. I couldn't even run to one of the 2 grocery stores to grab a sandwich to eat. Which are in same damn parking lot. 5 min and i couldnt even grab a sandwhich from safeway without fear of being told youre outta here. So if you like sitting in jail with your pets great. Oh best complaint of all. I couldnt believe dmployee advertised his addiction to KRATOM. A leaf but also gets you High. So, one employee boasted out loud he had to go get his kratom. Front desk said hurry. Kratom is a substance used to relieve pain like an opioid. Sure legal in Oregon but lots of other states, no, because of the addictive nature. Yes withdrawals whole works that kind of addiction. It's banned in several countries and States in USA. So employees who boast about their addiction and using while at work. Sure stay there if you want. If you want to be treated like an inmate, then sure go ahead. As for me, never again. I really wanted to give a half star because water pressure phenomenal. read more

The first word that I thought of was "immaculate." I went over other reviews before coming in to check this place out. Pretty low average, but the last couple of months it sounds like something might have changed. Anyway, I fell on my way way in an was bleeding profusely about the face and it was 9pm, I would not want to see that walk in my front door. The lady behind the counter didn't freak out or make me feel bad. She stayed calm and handed me some tissue asking If I was okI had my husband, mother and 5 of my children with me, I wouldn't want to see that walk in the door either. Rooms were $10 more a night for a room with a view. It was late and we were leaving early so normally I would go with the cheaper room but I decided to treat the kids to a beautiful sunrise. After checking in, looking at my receipt I saw that the lady at the counter had given us a discount. It was not necessary at all but it was very nice, things like that are always a wonderful surprise. I didn't search as it is not my style but I could not find anything to complain about in regards to the cleanliness. I took the comforter off as always but I do that everywhere. Once we shut the door between our room and the kids we both remarked on how we didn't hear a thing, 5 kids=unheard of silence. With two stores in very close walking distance it wasn't hard to find dinner for the whole family that late at night. The room had an actual table in the room so eating in the room was actually doable and not gross. When I woke up just now I have a beautiful sunrise to look at on our personal porch. I slept like a rock and the bed was very comfortable, brand new mattress, and had three fluffy pillows. The room was huge with a microwave and fridge. Though the style was a little outdated it was brand new so I think it is just personal taste, but it was spotless. In conclusion, I would stay here again and I would recommend it to anyone. What's with the shopping cart full of junk at the bottom of the stairs? None of the doors are secure on the outside - anyone could walk into the motel. It is totally rundown. When we got to our room, the toilet was overflowing. We called the front desk and they told us to walk down and get a plunger. We had a terrible stay at this motel last month. Management handled our complaint by "not returning phone calls or emails". Not professional at all. We were in town for my 40th Class Reunion. In the room next to us was at least one dog that barked all night and until noon the following day when we checked out. We ended up leaving town and heading home because we were exhausted. My husband's experience with the front desk was disastrous. He went to the desk multiple times and requested the attendant (Tina) do "something"! 1) Remove the dog - she said that would be to dangerous 2) Call Animal Control - that never happened 3) She was going to call the manager to see about giving us a discount - that never happened 4) Tina said she called the owners of the dog and couldn't get hold of them. When we arrived back in Washington there was a message on our phone "asking us to remove our dog". 5) The room on the opposite side also called in a complaint. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity, ruined by a patron's dog and your motel not doing anything about it. We are requesting our money back. Originally I book the room and the confirmed price was $105. When we were given our bill the price was $120 + tax. It was a horrid and frustrating experience. The bed in my room was as hard as a concrete floor, the wifi is so slow that it is unusable. My bed was so hard, I resorted to inflating a camping sleeping pad and putting it on the bed to salvage a night's sleep. Got a great deal on Hotels.com for double queen room. Clean, quaint, friendly staff, and awesome breakfast full of Safeway bagels, English muffins, donuts, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, and coffee. The beds are comfy and not squeaky, not too firm and not too soft. The TV offers great channels including HBO movies. Free WiFi too! Ask for a room with a view of the water. Usually the same price! The indoor pool is very warm and is kept clean. And the indoor hot tub was nice but the surfaces look like they could use some touching up. The backside of the inn has a little dock with picnic tables overlooking the river, and is really beautiful on a sunny day! I stay here about 13 times a year. It's alway a nice clean room. Decent continental breakfast. The beds are all comfortable and the rooms are very roomy. Fridge, coffee pot etc.. They recently upgraded to HDTV's in the rooms so you can bring your HDMI cable and run your phone or gaming systems off them. Wifi is decent and password protected. The showers are HOT! She assumed the worst that we couldn't afford to stay when I already booked and paid through hotel.com. lol. She rudely informed me that she needed my car tag to be able to park at her hotel and she needed to keep my credit card for incidental charges (prob will charge me for something but I will videotape the room condition before I leave-ha) Room was clean but river view was not worth the view. The room was nice, large and spacious with a queen sized bed, couch, recliner, tons of channels on the TV, great water pressure in the shower. We were on the second floor, water side and had a nice balcony with patio chairs. We even pulled the recliner out there for a few minutes. It was peaceful and there were birds and ducks. The room was GREAT. However, the staff made us feel so unwelcome. We didn't even want to stay our second night. They say they are pet friendly but they are constantly policing you in a condescending way and their pet area is a swampy marsh. They made such a point about how they were accomodating us when the majority of the hotel was vacant. The breakfast was marginal at best. They were out of coffee at 9am. The pastries were dry. We aren't from the area, we don't know Oregon very well. This place marketed themselves as this water front escape. I was totally unimpressed. The water front is a murky, stinky mess overlooking industrial smoke stacks. Everything we did recreationally was outside Coos Bay. Overall, I was fairly disapppointed with this place despite the room being great. We drove by dozens of other places I'd wished we rather had stayed. read more

We booked this room last minute and in spite of it being a little costly we did enjoy the amenities. My room was on the first floor which had sliding glass doors overlooking the water and at night the lighting was beautiful. We did enjoy the pool and hot tub and a great variety of doughnuts, fruits and coffees. I would definitely stay here again but I would shop for the best price availability. read more

This is such a nice place to stay if you can get over the front desk kid/ Maria who checks you in. She is so rude without any kind of welcoming, like we were bothering her. We asked for a room with a view and she said they were booked up, a couple hours later we noticed very few cars in the parking lot and decided to call and see if we could make a reservation for the water side and what do you know, the new receptionist said their were several rooms available, we asked if their had been cancellation and she said no. We explained our situation and this reception was very apologetic and upgraded us for 5 dollars more which was the original upgrade price. Maria has business manor confused with a snotty mannerisms and needs to be cleaning rooms not running the place as we overheard a couple complaining about her as well. read more

This place has way-way-way too many paper signs posted everywhere. As one example, there's a nasty sign on the door to the pool that warns would-be tresspassers that if they're not registered guests and the motel catches them, then they will be arrested. This seems unnecessary since (like many hotels/motels) you need a key card to access the pool. Then there's one at the breakfast area that says to take only what you need because there isn't enough food "due to the quantity of guests". My son laughed at that one. He pointed out that it's not "due to the quantity of guests" but "due to the quantity of food." Hah-hah. After eating their high-fat non-nutritious breakfast, my son sat in a recliner and reclined it. The hotel had arranged the room so that there was a tall floor lamp just behind the chair, so of course the recliner knocked the lamp over. The woman at the desk gave me a nasty look and ordered me to pick up the lamp. Huh? The lamp fell because of their idiotic furniture placement; why the nasty look, and why order your guests around like that? These people know nothing about hospitality (see my review of the Pierpoint Inn in Florence, Oregon.) The lamp shade got damaged. I moved the lamp away from the chair, but the short cord then could not be plugged back in. The unpleasant woman at the desk then sent another woman to replace the lamp shade. That woman moved the lamp back behind the chair and plugged it into the wall. We pointed out that it was going to get knocked over again, so she found another spot for it. This woman might not have been too bright, but at least she was pleasant. Because of the conduct of the front desk woman, and also because of the overabundance of paper signs, this place had a very-very low class feel to it. The pool was nice, and many of the other guests were quite friendly. The motel could improve themselves a lot by getting rid of the paper signs, serving a more nutritious breakfast, and having employees who are a bit more high class. The furnishings are a bit dated but clean. read more

3 stars is about right. Very good location, right off (101) but tucked far enough away behind the grocery and department stores for quietness. When you live in a major city like I do, this place is peaceful. Besides, it was only for a night and it was good enough. Receptionists were very kind and knowledgeable. Nice lobby area. Room was clean, good shower, two sinks, good TV choices. Fridge, microwave. Negatives: 1.-thin walls. 2.-Bathroom door, made out of cheap wood (who would have thought this considering it's in the middle of the timber industry), was peeling and splintering. 3.- toilet made noise all night long. Over priced. Okay room. The place is situated in a parking lot for Safeway and Fred Meyer. On the other side, a nice view of a slough. Behind that, the machinations of the lumber industry. When I left in the morning, there was a light coating of saw dust on the windshield. Pretty cool. read more
