This restaurant has the most phenomenal view of Niagara falls! The view is fantastical because of the huge covered heated deck they have - directly across the street and facing the falls. From the outside it reminds me of Swiss Claet. Not that I've been to Switzerland, it's just what I'd always pictured you'd find there. The wait staff is very friendly and let me choose my table. The day had been a bit rainy and I was damp from the ride I'd just taken on the Maiden in the Mist (below the falls) so I was in need of something warm to eat to take the chill off my bones. I chose the broccoli cheese soup. While it wasn't bad, it was a bit watery and only came with Saltine crackers. For $7 (plus a 20% tax) it left something to be desired. I guess I am a little spoiled because the restaurant I used to work for purchased their broccoli cheddar soup from Sisco - who in my opinion - makes the best soups you will find. All that said, this restaurant is a place you need to visit. Even just for a glass of wine or beer. The only redeeming thing about this place was the beautiful view. The view was gorgeous when they seated us outside and we could see both falls and the colors that illuminated it at night. Additionally, there was a live music stage right next to table. Our waiter was very nice but not attentive at all. He never filled up our waters even though all four of us had empty cups. He forgot the rolls and the potatoes that came with our entree, and it took him almost an hour to give us the starter rolls. When we asked about the potatoes, he told us we would be charged an extra $2 for what the chefs forgot in the first place. The meal cost $99.95 and was not worth it at all. read more

Tourists will always come to this place for the view I'm sure. We did! That was pretty nice combined with the weather and the sound of the falls. But the food and service is atrocious. The servers seem like teenagers who hate their jobs. One of our water glasses had a fly in it, and our waiter was nowhere to be found after taking our order. No signs of him anywhere for a long while, so we explained our situation to another server walking by. Her response: a cold stare, "...'k" and took the glass without saying another word. Um...? No sign of her for a while either. Then our app came with our waiter so we inquired with him, at which point the girl comes and plops the glass down on the table and leaves without saying another word. What a way to ruin a meal... So the food is .. edible at least? They definitely came slowly even though the restaurant wasn't even remotely busy considering how big they are (only the balcony seats and ones near the balcony were taken the entire time we dined there). The appetizer dip came in a pretty big bowl, but with only four pieces of "grilled" (BURNT) pita. We ate maybe about 1/10 of the dip with the pita, since it was so overwhelmingly salty and heavy. We had burger, wings, salad, and chicken/rib at the table. Wing sauce was pretty flavorless, but at least the wings were cooked. Burger is a burger but a bland burger. Salad was not 100% fresh veggies and berries (don't remember what kind.) The chicken/rib combo was actually a pretty good portion:price ratio and tasted okay. They were really busy as it was Canada Day, but did not seem too happy that we had three kids at one of the tables....but the bartender turned out to be GREAT! As others have said, it's all about the view at Edgewaters. It's beautiful to look out at the falls. The best seating for the view is open-air, so depending on the weather, you'll want to dress accordingly. It was a bit cool when we went, and although they do offer some outdoor heaters, we kept our coats on. We went for dinner and timed it so that we were there when the illumination came up on the falls, and the nearby free concert began, so that was a nice touch. There's a nicely sized menu with a variety of choices, predominantly grouped in salads, burgers, and sandwiches. After 5 pm, there are some additional entrees offered. My husband ordered the burger, which he enjoyed. It was nicely sized and came with fries. It wasn't noted on the menu, nor by the server when she asked if he'd like cheese on it, but cheese is an additional $2. They do offer some gluten free choices. They weren't available online at the time of our visit, but a quick call to the restaurant confirmed it, and sure enough, they were marked in the in-restaurant menu and on the one posted outside. I opted for the Chicken Delta, which came with mashed potatoes and veggies, and was a juicy chicken breast with ricotta, spinach, prosciutto, and a roasted red pepper sauce. I found it very tasty and the perfect size, especially since I had my eye on a dessert. Speaking of dessert... we split the Frozen Ice Wine Semi-Freddo Terrine, and it was delightful. The flavor of ice wine came through the four layers of mousse, and the berry coulis was a great taste with it. It also came with fresh berries. If you don't want to go for a whole meal, dessert might be a good option instead. I was debating between 3 and 4*'s, but I have to round to the 4. We knew going in we were going for the view and had planned ahead to pay extra for a restaurant in which we could have that experience. The alcoholic drinks are what make a meal here expensive, $7-8 for a pint of beer. We ordered beef burgers, a Caesar salad, a seafood chowder and some drinks. The food was generally not good but just wanna highlight that the beef patty was so dry and bland. So many people order beef burgers here that you would think if there's one thing they can try to be good at it should be the beef burger, the most cost effective way to improve their ratings! I was definitely wary of coming here because of the reviews, but we were out of things to do on a rainy day and wanted to sit somewhere dry with a drink and nice view of the falls. So it was a huge disappointment when they informed us they weren't seating on the patio as they were still trying to clean it up from the wet AM (looked dry and nobody was doing anything out there). Got stuck with a table behind a cart that was blocking half the limited window view. Surly waitress informed us if we were only going to have drinks, we could only sit at the bar (facing away from the falls). I noticed our first table and chairs were sticky. Bar chairs also sticky. Is it the humidity?? I saw another waitress hastily wipe down a table and think it's probably not the cleanest place to eat. A huge perk here is the drink prices, surprisingly! My glasses of wine were $7-8, and hubby's beer flight (4 x4oz pours) was only $9.50. I would advise sticking to beer/wine. Cocktails weren't too pricey but then again only 1-3oz each. My Texas/American self wants more than that! Other patrons (an older couple) decided they would wander outside and sit on the empty patio anyway. Why didn't we do that to begin with? Strict Asian parents have deeply ingrained the need to follow instructions, ugh! We had a new younger bartender start her shift and she said it would be fine for us to take our drinks and sit outside since the restaurant wasn't busy. So our visit here actually ended up quite nicely on the patio with a great view of the Falls. I recommend coming here for a couple drinks pre-dinner if it's not busy. You pay for the view and that is pretty much it. Yes the view is absolutely amazing! Sitting on the patio you get a perfect view of the Niagara Falls. However, with that view comes the classic overpriced tourist trap. The food is ok, but I would not eat here again. The bison burger lacked flavor and was overcooked. The buffalo wings were not crispy and needed more sauce. Overall, I would not eat here again unless I am filthy rich. Okay, We made a mistake. We chose a restaurant based solely on the view we would have of the Falls. This restaurant has probably the best view of the Falls on the Parkway, but the food does not live up to the expectations set by the great location. The first clue was the tables, they just seemed... cheap. Kind of what you would expect from a cafeteria in Disney World. We decided to get the fried ravioli appetizer, which was mediocre at best and served with a side of marinara in a plastic dixie cup. for my meal i decided to get the stuffed chicken breast, filled with goat cheese spinach and topped with a roasted red pepper sauce (also known as marinara sauce) It was dry, and barely filled, however the one redeeming quality was the mashed potatoes. Were they out of a box? possibly, but they were delicious! My girlfriend got the penne, with goat cheese... The goat cheese was not mixed in with the meal, but simply crumbled on top of the penne. Overall, if you are looking for a good meal, go someplace else. if you are just looking for a place to grab some dessert and a drink, this place might be for you. read more

Oh the bane of the tourist destination and their mediocre restaurants! Niagara Falls is no different than the thousands of other locales around the world. Edgewater's offers the views, offered up with mediocre and expensive food. Visiting with my vegetarian nieces, sister-in-law, and brother, we choose Edgewater's due to the grumbling stomachs of my nieces. The buffet offered little to them so we went upstairs to the Tap and Grill. Loved the views of the Falls from the outdoor deck. Our waitress was pleasant and accommodating. I ordered meatloaf; the fried onions and gravy was the best; the loaf was dense and tasteless. The rest of the crew enjoyed their food but also commented on the expense. You can't beat the sweeping views of Niagara Falls from this restaurant! That's one of two reasons to dine here. The second is the food is pretty good and it beats the fast food and bizarre buffet options in the immediate area. Service was sarcastic and surly and prompted me to want to cry out T.M.I.! Having been a server myself, I understand the season is over and you just can't serve one more tourist a burger with a smile, but god we don't want to hear about how you sore you are. From what exactly, my family and I don't want to know. The food was surprisingly good. Your standard pub fare, with a tasty chicken sandwich (nice Dijon mustard on top) and the generous roast beef sandwich and tasty burger. Even the chicken tenders were above average. The fries were pretty addictive too, not sure how they are pulling that off, but it could be a Canadian thing. Finally, if you're waiting for a table don't bother with the bar. It's important to start with the caveat that you are paying for a view, and in total I payed $30buck for a burger & fries and one beer. Tl;dr I wouldn't eat here ever again. The positives are that the staff are friendly and the beer (I had a cold Raging Squirrel larger, recommended) was good. The chicken burger was chicken mince, cooked from frozen (so not fresh and kept refrigerated). I heard a waitress warning other customers it wasn't a breast and that some expect it to be- indeed I wasn't warned and a seated chicken burger implies a seared piece of meat (in a grillhouse!). The lettuce wasn't the freshest, and the tzatziki was not made freshly (and I doubt in house) as it tasted processed. The bun was ok on the outside, but chewy and doughy in the base- another sign of being frozen and then used. The fries were measly in size, and the portion wasn't huge. There was no extra side salad etc. I asked if there was wifi and the waitress very honestly explained it was removed 'due to studies of it slowing service down' by people staying around longer. Now, ignoring they are referring to a social media post by an NY restaurant- I would have ordered dessert and another beer for the luxury of having a place to sit with wifi for an extra 15mins; Tim Hortons at tabletop got my $ instead. My boyfriend and I visited Niagara Falls over the summer on quite possibly the hottest day ever. We wanted some good food and cold beer plus some ac. We were severly disappointed. We both ordered cheeseburgers. The meat on both of our burgers was GRAY! We both only ate a bit. The fries were limp and very salty. Our waitress was unattentive and rude. There was no ac. And the beverage selection left something to be desired. It was not worth the $45 we spent. All I had here was a Coke and an appetizer because I was so let down by the appetizer that I wasn't about to spend any more money on an entree at this place. Looking at the menu outside the restaurant, the prices didn't seem *too* bad for the location, but the samosas I ordered turned out to be tiny bite-sized samosas that I've bought frozen at the grocery store for $3.99 a bag. Wouldn't be surprised if they were even the same brand because they looked and tasted mighty familiar. The samosas came with a small pile of wilted, past its prime lettuce that I guess was meant to be a salad. After tax and tip, the plate of frozen samosas and a Coke ran me nearly $15. The only pros are the view and in my case the server was very friendly, although looking at the other reviews here it sounds like that's not always the case. If you're hungry I suggest going elsewhere, although I have yet to find anyplace decent in Niagara so I can't recommend where "elsewhere" would be. read more

I was in nearby Welland for a rowing competition, and one of my rowers and I decided to go to Niagara Falls for dinner with a view. It was a very crowded Saturday night, and once we'd parked and started walking I began to worry we wouldn't be able to find a table anywhere. We made our way down to the falls themselves, and they were breathtaking! I even forgot to stress about dinner for a few minutes. We spotted Edgewaters conveniently located to the falls with a great patio view and decided to try it. Luckily we were able to score an outside table before things became too crowded. Yes, it's a touristy place and not the best value for your money, however what else would you expect when you're eating dinner with Niagara Falls misting you the entire time? It's the surrounding experience rather than the meal that you're really paying for. Our server was super friendly and took our food and drink orders quickly. I had brisket tacos and some fries on the side. She kindly made sure the tacos were customized to avoid any dairy contamination, which I greatly appreciated. My friend had a stuffed chicken breast with vegetables on the side, and we both ordered the drink pairings suggested by the menu. (A nice touch, since it's pretty loud and thinking about which drink to order can be irritating.) The food was delicious and a pretty good value in my book. I'm from the states so my dollars go further in Canada, but for such a touristy area the prices weren't shocking. I would totally come back here next time I'm visiting Niagara Falls. The view was incredible, and the dinner wasn't a $40 rip-off buffet like the spinning rooftop hotel restaurants I looked up online. Overall a it was a stellar experience! read more

I'm confused as to why this got such bad reviews. We had incredible service and our food was delicious. I got the Ontario Turkey burger. The two others with me got the striped spinach ravioli and chicken ceasar salad. We had braised brisket tacos as a starter. It was all wonderful. Our waitress Meghan was amazing. But it doesn't make up for everything else. Most of the waitresses look like they're suffering, and could care less about what you order. Five minutes cannot go buy without hearing something falling or breaking. While there at least 4 dishes broke in the restaurant and forks drop all over the place. - Food and Price - I ordered a Grilled Flat Iron Steak ($19.99), MEDIUM. What I got were two pieces of the raw steak that has not been thoroughly cooked. The insides were still very red, and I wouldn't classify it as rare either. The steaks were also similar to chewing a piece of rubber; it was not tender, had no taste, and impossible to properly chew through. The fries that came with the dish were soggy wet and not fresh. At least the brocolli and cucumbers were just brocolli and cucumbers. It speaks volumes when the vegetables that only require cutting tastes better than the other items in the dish. Dessert is good, but since when was dessert never good. While you might see this place as very attractive and convenient when visiting the area, heed the advice of the reviewers so far on Yelp and avoid this place. First of all, I am 100% sure I was at this location but I don't remember it being called Edgewaters. Maybe I'm confused or maybe it's called something different but I was here and the photographs prove it. Please check to be sure that you are reading a review about the restaurant that is above the gift shop and that the photos match. This place has an awesome view of both falls. But I have to say the food was horrible. It tasted as if it was canned or frozen. We had the BREADED CHICKEN BREAST PARMESAN over pasta and a house salad. The chicken was soggy, the pasta was inedible and watery and had a very odd taste. We should of ordered a burger because most of the people there had one. Maybe it was the safe bet. I ordered the New York steak sandwich, which came with no top bun and too much sauce. My family ordered dinner which was supposed to come with dinner rolls, but there wasn't any with the entrees and we had to ask the waiter again. No free refills on fountain drinks, and expensive . We had a great view of the falls and fireworks...and the service was great. We showed up at 8:30 on the 4th of July, and asked them to seat us at the next best table, waited a half hour for it (comfortably) inside. We were seated with perfect timing for the fireworks (which start at 10). The food was surprisingly good; I was expecting the place to be a tourist trap. The nacho appetizer was remarkable. The view is world class. The food is awful and excessively expensive. My travel friend and I had a burger and a beer each. The bill came to $54 before tip. What's even more hilarious is that at those prices you cannot even request how to have your burger cooked; everything must be cooked well done (I'm guessing the burgers are precooked and heated when needed). The menus (in form and content) and glaring lighting remind you of a midrange truck stop. Unless you're on the verge of starvation (seriously, death is a real option) I would recommend just going for drinks on the southern most portion of the outdoor area to enjoy the view. It's a shame that such a great location has such a terrible restaurant.
