I have a 5 yr. old LG washer that seems to get hung up on the spin cycle and will stop and start spinning again for more minutes. I contacted LG and they gave me 2 authorized repair places to call and neither got back to me, and they had bad reviews. I saw all the good reviews on Edgeworth, and gave them a call. Although Cameron could not find the problem, even after calling LG, we decided it was not worth trying to guess, and put in expensive parts, when we were not sure of the problem. He spent over half an hour here testing the machine, and then did not charge me for the call, because he could not find the problem. I found that quite impressive. I would have been more than willing to pay for the call. I would certainly trust them the next time I have a problem. Two companies that are honest, and I have used in the past, would not even come. They said they would not work on an LG. So I did not have much hope in solving my problem. Fortunately it is intermittent, so can hold off for a while till I decide what I want to do. read more

Our refrigerator started warming up on December 31. I frantically called a number of appliance repair companies, most were either already closed for New Years or were not scheduling service call until well into January. The one exception was Edgeworth Appliance. I left a message and Cameron got back to me quickly. Although he wasn't able to come out that day (or obviously New Years day), he promised to come out first thing on Saturday January 2. Cameron did everything perfectly from a customer service perspective. He gave me a narrow time window in which he would come, told me that he would call when he was about 30 min from arriving, and most importantly, he followed through. Moreover, I have an unusual name, and Cameron made the effort to learn how to pronounce it correctly, and actually remembered even days later. When he arrived to the house, he was very polite and efficiently diagnosed the problem, gave me an accurate and very reasonable quote, ordered the part, provided a temporary fix so that we could continue to use the refrigerator, cleaned up after himself, told me approximately when he would return to finish the repair, and promised to call to confirm the day and time. And he didn't expect any payment until the job was complete. A couple of days later, he gave me a call back to let me know that he had the part, set up a time to return and promised he would call prior to arriving. Again he followed through exactly and competed the repair quickly. I always dread having to call for appliance service, not knowing if I will be ripped off or left waiting hours for a service technician to arrive or wondering if the repair was done correctly. I can honestly say that working with Cameron was the most pleasant experience related to an appliance or home repair that I have ever had in over 30 years of home ownership. read more

I had DJ come out to check on a malfunctioning dryer this week and found him to be professional, honest, and super helpful in providing feedback for how to proceed in fixing the problem. I asked for quotes from several other appliance companies and Edgeworth has the lowest site visit fee ($75 instead of $100 from a few other places I contacted) making them pretty cost effective. I would highly recommend checking in with them first if you need to get somebody to work on one of your appliances. They were able to come out the day I made the request, and on the week of July 4 I really appreciate that. read more

My washer was in need of repair when I called this company, and they sent someone out to look at it. It took ten minutes for the technician to determine that this 4-year old machine was "not worth a repair". He then handed me his bill. When I called other appliance repair shops, they stated it certainly could be repaired. After speaking with the manager at Edgeworth, he righteously claimed that his technician had every right to bill me for the ten minutes he spent looking at the machine, even though he did not wish to repair it. This was followed by very unpleasant and unprofessional comments on my expectations. Beware of this shop if you need your washer repaired. There are more professional options. read more

We ended up needing a new dryer to replace out 20+ year old unit. They got us a great deal and came in to install it the very next day. I feel so disappointed and conflicted. I've been an Edgeworth Appliance customer for about 30 years and have always recommended them, and still would. But I had a negative experience today. Last week, they made a call for one issue, that turned out to be a non-issue. I was ready to pay for the service call, but he said not to worry about it. However, when he turned to leave, he noticed a leak from my tenants' apartment. Turns out it was the dishwasher. He recommended a replacement and said the owner would call me to talk about options. A few business days went by, and I ended up calling b/c I hadn't heard back. He recommended one brand over others. When I asked whether it made a difference whether I got the DW through him or Best Buy, he said to just go with the best price. He followed up with a text w/recommended models and pricing for both the DW and installation. Things seemed fine until that point. His price vs. BB was $50 more for the DW and $50 more for the installation, or a total of about 20% higher. I prefer to go w/the local guy instead of the Big Box Store, but that is a big difference for my budget. I texted him letting him know what the BB installation price was and asked if there was flexibility. I figured it didn't hurt to ask. He basically said no, which was fine -- I still wanted to support him and realize it's hard for a smaller operation to compete with big chains. But when I said I was going to buy it through BB and asked when I should have it delivered so he could install, he got very curt and just told me to go through BB for everything. He told me I was nickel-and-diming over $50 (when in fact it was a total of $100) and that they provide better service. I don't doubt that and was willing to pay the extra $50 bucks (which I had already told him I preferred to do), but he no longer wanted to take the job. It was like the conversation about me buying the DW thorough BB and having him install never happened. I can only conclude that he got defensive when I asked "Is there any flexibility in the installation?" That's when the whole thing seemed to change. I feel really sad b/c they do provide excellent service and I've always been happy w/them until now. But this experience compelled me to post this review. I feel it was not a way to treat a customer, let alone a long term customer who's recommended them many times. read more

Had two appliances in need of repair. My dishwasher and dryer ended up having a blockage. Edgeworth Appliance was prompt and fixed both in a timely manner. They gave me a time window and showed up at right at the beginning. I used the dryer this weekend and it wasn't drying all the way. Edgeworth appliance came out right away. There was a birds nest that was started in the outside dryer vent on the second floor. They fixed in no time and gave me so recommendations for the spring when the birds come back. I've been using Edgeworth Appliance for years and have always been happy with the customer service and work. Over the years they've fixed a stove and dishwasher. I now have a broken refrigerator, which Jason spent a long time trying to fix, but got to a point where he thought we should contact the company because it should still be under warranty they should fix it for free or a discount (Turns out a warranty is only good for one year and our fridge is 2 years old.) He gave us a complete report of what is needed so we could contact the manufacturer to fix it. I was happy to see he entered our house wearing a face mask (for those of you reading this in the future, remember when..?) and kept it on the whole time. I've also always felt the prices are fair. Sadly, having to deal with the manufacturer and another service company to get my fridge fixed is the exact opposite experience of what I've had with Edgeworth. read more

I have used Edgeworth Appliance for 10 years+, from fixing my dryer, replacing a dryer( unhook and re hook up), repair stove, washer, fridge. My washer broke and got a new one, called David Sr. and explained my situation, that washer and dryer in half a bathroom and is tight corners. I explained that I needed gas dryer unhooked in order to get old machine out and then re hook up gas dryer and new washing machine. He came out to see what needed to be done, he had time to do it so he stayed and did it all, even went as far as wiping up water and dust so floor was clean. I feel he went above and beyond!! My washer broke because I jammed a comforter into a top loader. I "Googled" the local repair company for appliances. The first one I called charged $80 just to come out and take a "look" at the problem but didn't go with them since the guy sounded kind of rude on the other end of the line. Then, I called Edgeworth which is a family owned business and got an appointment with the son who was very nice. They only charged $40 to come out and assess the problem. He took a look at the washer and was able to diagnose that the pump had been burned out fromt he feathers which clogged it up. He was able to check with the office if they had the replacement part and they did so he was able to go back to the office and return in half an hour which he promised he would to fix the problem. He also left the place very clean since he used towels to soak up the water that leaked and I saw him vacuum out all the feathers that were jammed into the washer as well. I don't normally call appliance companies but this was a good experience considering he was able to fix it in the same day and it was definitely reasonable priced. Good service but way overpriced! They get you by a reasonable $40 service call fee but if they need to fix anything then the cost of the actual repair will be much higher comparing to other appliance repair companies in the area. They just replaced a small fan motor in my 10 year old refrigerator freezer. It took the owner David about 10 minutes to do the repair. It cost me $245 after a "special" discount. I thought maybe that part was expensive. I looked up this model of motor on Amazon and it was $28 for a brand new motor with free shipping. So the labor came out at $217 for approx. 10min of work. As the previous reviewer mentioned they go by a some kind of a "national average price" pocket book that tells them how much they need to charge. I don't think most customers really care what the book says. $1000+/hour for labor is just way too much at least here in Boston. I've used other appliance repair companies in the area before and their prices were mostly real time labor+parts based and they were much more reasonable. So don't get lured by a reasonable service call fee you'll pay double for the actual repair which will be based on a hypothetical national average. read more

Been getting appliances repaired/replaced for many years and we give them Five Stars. This last time was a washer repair service. The bill did surprise us, a little over $300. On the bright side we know it was the correct part, we know we call anytime if it fails and it's the first repair since we purchased the machine from Edgeworth almost 4 years ago..Also the quick turnaround is the best, within a couple of days the machine was back up and running. My LG washer-dryer combo broke down after only owning a few months, under warranty. Edgworth Appliances was very responsive from the get-go. The dispatcher called me back immediately to set up an appointment convenient to my schedule. The wait window they gave me was only 2 hours and they came at the top end as opposed to 5 minutes before it was up. When the technicians showed up they were very polite and clearly knew what they were doing. They had the washer/dryer fixed in 20 minutes. The service was under warranty but they mentioned that they only charge $40 to come out on a service call which is a lot less than their larger competitors. Our LG dryer (bought a few years ago at a big box store) stopped turning on out-of-warranty. We called around for someone to come out and fix it, and Edgeworth-Malden Appliance was the most responsive and sent someone out the next day at a time when we'd be home from work. The tech (Filip) was very helpful and professional and knew what he was doing and promptly found the problem (a blown solder join on the control board, deep under epoxy). They were able to find the part (which LG listed as back-ordered) and got it in quickly and brought it by for a prompt repair. Their price was completely reasonable as well.
