This place has been around for a while and I feel like I want to love it but it's always just okay. They need to make some updates to the space because it's starting to feel a bit rundown. It is always busy and they sure do cram people in there, but the wait is always reasonable. I would suggest reservations for weekend brunch/lunch for sure and note that you may still have to wait for your table. The menu is large and the food is pretty good. Service is again... fine. Not the best, not the worst. Edina Grill is an acceptable place to go for a casual meal in a great location (it's helpful that they can accommodate larger groups), but I just can't get past the lackluster vibe and that I usually have to wait for it. Think of Edina Grill as a more upscale Perkins or other diner with a bar with a diverse menu of all day breakfast, comfort foods, salads, and more. At the server's recommendation, I had the Nashville Fried Chicken sandwich was was excellent--crispy yet tender, flavorful, and encapsulted by a fresh and soft bun. Really perfect! The sweet potato fries were an excellent compliment to it. My Bill for 2 meals and 2 drinks came to $75-not exactly cheap. One area for improvement--the restroom was not particularly clean and the soap dispenser was empty. Tonight's dinner was quick; in and out. Just the way we like it when we got kiddos at home and a flight at 930! I had the beef stroganoff and my hubby had the salmon. Let me tell you! The brussel sprouts with the salmon were freaking delicious. They were flash dried then set on goat cheese and honey. Incredible! My stroganoff was traditional. To be expected. I went over the weekend to have breakfast. This used to be one of my go to breakfast spots but as the years went on we started going other places. To start I am so glad that we decided to give Edina Grill a shot again. I had my go to at any breakfast place, the breakfast burrito, and it was delicious. They use pulled pork as the protein in it and they did not skimp on the meat! It was actually a decent size as well. I left feeling very full and satisfied. Our coffee cups never ran dry and also my Bloody Mary was delicious as well. The food and drink were so good I forgot to take a picture before devouring half my meal! For us, this is a good sign. Service was excellent. Staff were polite and fast. I liked the food and beer. Got the Reuben and fries. The Reuben was delicious. I liked all the ingredients that went into it. The bread was nice and moist. The turkey was flavorful. It's not as sour as other Reubens I've had in the past. The fries were okay. Went here for brunch with a close friend over the holidays. We were seated without wait and ordered the salmon with avocado and the breakfast burrito. If you have a hangover, the breakfast burrito is what you need. A combination of carbs from the rice and tortilla, and protein from the beans and the pulled pork. Yum. I've been going to the Edina Grill for years and its always been a solid choice. They have a great happy hour and I love their turkey burger. This past Sunday, I went to the Edina Grill for brunch, and their customer service exceeded my expectations. My group had a reservation for 7 at 10am, and when the first 2 of us arrived they seated us at a high top near the bar. We didn't realize 2 of our girlfriends were bringing their babies, and high tops are not good for that! When they arrived with carseats in tow, the management was so accommodating and as quickly as possible figured out a new seating arrangement for us (which wasn't easy considering we had 7 adults and 2 babies during a busy Sunday morning). The server (who a couple of us had already ordered drinks from) was also very gracious and made the transition exceptionally easy. The food was delicious; I highly recommend the salmon scramble. We love the blue plate restaurants! I've been a few times over the past month. The chilaquiles here vary each time I order them. They are spicier with more peppers and less tortilla/hash browns than the ones I've come to love at the sister restaurant Longfellow Grill. The eggs Benedict come on a huge, fluffy English muffin. Really tasty. Eggs cakes and links are our kids' favorite to split- tons of food! We will keep coming back, but I need to find a new favorite as the chilaquiles are a bit too heavy here. We had a great meal on the patio (finally) this weekend and I loved my Breakfast Burrito and my wife's Spinach Frittata. My friend had the Americano. Eggs, toast, hashbrowns and bacon. I ordered the Tuscan. Gnocchi, pesto, bacon and mushrooms. Yum. Very similar to my gnocchi breakfast at the Freehouse which was equally as good. We both got toast with some really good jam. Ordered some chilaquiles to take home for J. Charming patio area. I bet it's even more charming at night with the lights. Excellent service. The bathrooms are kind of oddly placed. I don't like walking through the food and drink prep areas, but not a biggie. I'm not from Minneapolis, but I visit often, and every time I'm in town I make my friends take me here for brunch. I admittedly have only ever had the same two things each time, but that's because they are so good! But my local friends can confirm that the rest of their menu is just as good. My friend and I always order the breakfast burrito and French toast to share; this is the first place I tried a breakfast burrito years ago and to this day it's the best I've ever had. And the French toast is just perfection. We always sit at the bar when we go, and the same bartender is always there; she is the best! They also have great cocktails, and the amazing bartender will even whip you up something off the menu if you tell her what you like. If I lived nearby, this would probably be my regular brunch spot, it's just so so good! read more

Oh man! There was quite a huge wait about 30-35 minutes. We were lucky to get a high top in about 10 minutes. For apps, we got the Green chili tots. Oh so flavorful. A mild spice, some cheese, and aoli. I want to recreate this at home. Entrees were the crispy chx sandwich & chilaquiles. My sister tried my food and we decided to just share the chilaquiles which were AMAZING!!! We polished off the chilaquiles and never actually touched the burger but the sweet potato fries (2.75 up charge!) were very good. We then got the very hot bread pudding to polish off our meal. So why the 4/5 stars? Our waitress, we never got her name, was incredibly impatient with us. I had to ask for a refill for my coffee, I had to remind her that we needed silverware (she had cleared the empty app platter with our forks), she actually brought the check after she boxes the burger without asking if we wanted dessert. We had to ask for dessert. For someone who was so impatient, we had to wait another 10 minutes for her to actually run the payment for the check. Ugh. Edina Grill has always been one of my favorite places but my recent experience there was not good! I called ahead of time for a reservation. When I arrived it was obvious that they did not have my reservation. The hostess walks me back to a 6 top table in a way back room and says this is all I have with lots of attitude. When I questioned why my reservation was for two and this table was for 6 I got more attitude. When my guest arrived the hostess made it a point to tell her that I was not happy with the table. I dine here a lot and this is the first time I have ever had issues with a member of the staff. I always choose this restaurant over Salut next door but I will be rethinking that. I have to say that this is the type of place that really gives me nothing to complain about but at the same time I would say it doesn't give me much to praise either. I think the basic breakdown is being that this is part of a chain of restaurants around the city, all very similar in menu and layout, it lacks imagination and is overpriced with what they offer. I ordered a basic Cobb Salad and must say for a salad on the high end of the scale is was nothing more than basic. Luncheon meat for the chicken, really...you can't grill some chicken breast and put that on the salad? Heck, I can get that at any fast-food place (do not eat at fast-food places but making a point). Lunch date ordered the Kale salad, that was her fault...who the hell eats Kale, it's bitter and it sucks. As a result she didn't finish her salad and said the Kale was bitter....yep! So I recently went back to my favorite place and tried their wings....they're good. I was hoping for buffalo wings, but they're just plain. Therefore my friend and I got a side of buffalo sauce to go with it because well.......we love buffalo wings. Unfortunately, the sauce sucked! I can't explain it, but it just had a weird flavor. We just ended up eating the wings on their own which was fine b/c they were good. One downside about this visit was learning that they no longer have the corn croquette thingy on the menu. BOOO! Great place for a quick lunch during the week. I have a few favorite meals here. I would recommend getting the 3 cheese grilled cheese with the sweet and fresh tomato chutney-mmmm! Or go for the turkey burger with sweet potato fries. Remember the ingredients used here are all often local, organic and made from scratch. Their lemonade is freshly sqeezed and refreshing beverage to complete the meal. The decor is also pretty awesome with unique light fixtures, large wall prints and a giant chalkboard wall. We walked in on a Saturday for brunch and were quickly able to find a table at Edina Grill. I would characterize it as contemporary design. The menu is wide reaching and varied, sure to satisfy your entire party. We ordered across the spectrum of food genres, starting with perogies. Perogies you ask? How they made it on the menu I don't know but thank goodness they did because they were incredible. They were served with crisp fried onions and a delicious horseradish dipping sauce - what a genius way to turn what can sometimes be a dull item into an elevated appetizer. I then opted for the Bison burger, which was cooked beautifully and my husband got the Szechuan beef salad which was spicy and far from your average salad. Service was friendly and we were in and out in under an hour. We were both quite pleased with the overall experience. Unfortunately, that's all I'm able to comment on, because we decided to leave when half an hour had gone by without a single server making an appearance in the outdoor seating area. 3-4 additional groups were seated in that time, and none of them were attended to either. A table nearby flagged down a host as he was seating yet another group and alerted him to the fact that they hadn't even had their orders taken yet, and the table next to them had been there even longer and also hadn't had their orders taken (referring to us). The host was very apologetic and said someone would be out shortly. We were quite hungry, so when 5 more minutes had gone by with no server appearing, we decided that Breadsmith and Starbucks would be a better breakfast choice. Really tasty lunch with entrées that show they really try to step things up a notch. You know how you get a salad at some restaurants and think to yourself, dude, I could dump some lettuce and a couple tomatoes on a plate and do it for a lot cheaper than $12.99. No, at Edina Grill the salads seriously have texture and color and are chopped and combined and look artistic and taste great. I'm not even sure they were actually even $12.99. But maybe, can't remember, my dad paid the bill! We were there with my 70 something parents, my teenage kids and I and nobody complained. That was very strange and not our typical mo at a restaurant! The food came out fast, the wait for a table was fast and I like that they texted me. I will say the tables are a bit crammed together and it was a bit loud, but the servers were friendly and like I said, the food came out fast and was super tasty. read more

I've been here a couple of times and come back because of the local friendly atmosphere. I always like sitting in the bar area because it's so big and closed off. It could almost be a restaurant of it's own. The staff here is very outgoing. They will joke around with you, recommend menu items, and let you sample tap beer if you aren't sure what to order. Some of my favorite menu items are the Chicken enchiladas, Cheeseburger, and Kale chicken salad. The chicken enchiladas are a step above other places.. The tortillas are crispy and the middle is stuffed with good portions of chicken instead of loosely shredded chicken like other places. I make sure I get the cilantro lime sour cream in every bite because it's to die for. The cheeseburger is a standard classic with thick cut steak fries. The kale salad seems like a weird favorite but I love the ramen noodles and honey cilantro dressing on top. I need to come back to try the fish tacos because almost everyone at the bar ordered them, they must be good! read more

After being approached by two people asking how they could help us we were eventually seated. 15 mins later we're still waiting for someone to take our order. Note there was only four other customers in the restaurant. I guess it wouldn't have been so bad if there weren't 3 staff members huddled in a corner looking back at us clearly discussing us. Maybe they were playing rock/paper/scissors on who was going to wait on the older black ladies. I don't know. Needless to say we left without ordering.
