Great moody atmosphere and excellent food. Service was a highlight. Thanks for making our first visit enjoyable. We'll be back!

    Charred corn salad with steak

Good spot for dinner I would love to try brunch here! I got the charred corn salad and added steak. My husband got the coalition burger (plain) and said it was a great burger. It was a nice set up and area. Service was pretty standard. I would definitely come back.

I met up with my aunties for last minute drinks in Edina. One of them wanted to check this restaurant out since she's never been. Cute restaurant, you see a nice bar once you walk in. We ordered a few appetizers along with our cocktails. Service was great, our waiter checked on us frequently. Free parking in the lot to the side or behind the restaurant.

I have been here a couple of times for drinks and have decided that they are really hit or miss. There have been a couple that have been great and a couple that were not so great making it hard to try different things on the menu. I have walked in both times and have been seated immediately. At night the restaurant does get pretty dark in the back of the restaurant so I recommend sitting in the front by the windows or by the bar. The menu had recently changed and I had a chance to try the cauliflower. It was crispy and had a sweet chili bbq sauce, this was very tasty There were only a couple of other items that I would consider ordering and wish they would bring some of the old menu items back that I didn't get a chance to try.

My girlfriend and I wanted to grab a quick brunch before running errands, so decided to come here. Parking lot available, so that's always a plus for me. Restaurant itself was very nice looking inside! Clean, modern, stylish. Greeted immediately upon entering and our waitress came right up. Overall service was good, food came out timely, and staff was friendly. Food was ok. My burrito didn't have much flavor, but it was decent enough. I asked for hot sauce and all they had was tabasco.... You have to get some cry baby Craig or sriracha! My girlfriend wasn't a fan of her dish either. Very bland tasting. Not to mention, her coffee tasted watered down and wasn't good. We didn't have any cocktails, but i like that they offer some craft options. Will have to try one sometime if we return. - Anthony

Solid spot to hit up for dinner. My hubby and I sat outside on the patio and had a great attentive server. I got the pork schnitzel and thought it had great flavors overall but the wild rice was too bland. Thankfully the bourbon pecan cream sauce coated the rice and made it edible. Would visit again, but not my first choice for the area!

    Burrata - must try!
    Cassie M.

Updated review. Made it back for a full meal and loved it! Based on other rave reviews, we tried the burrata (with fig jam, arugula, prosciutto, and ciabatta). Everyone is right. This is so good! We ate every last bite. Will be coming back for this alone. My partner had the steak sandwich for his entre and I had the apple brie salad with salmon. Yum again! The salmon was the highlight here, and there was so much of it! Beautifully cooked, and also enjoyed the shaved apple and brie crouton. I knocked down a star because I asked for no bacon in the salad (pescatarian) but on the side (for my partner) and still found quite a few bits of bacon tossed in. Not impossible to pick out, and still enjoyed it nevertheless. We dined outside on the patio on a nice summer evening. We'll be back!

    Miso-glazed sea bass.
    George M.

There's certainly something to both like and dislike about this restaurant. Cool vibe, trendy and approachable menu, great location. But the food and service were both inconsistent on our visit. Today I had the sea bass special of the day. The fish itself was cooked perfectly and served with a decent risotto. But the mushrooms and umami you'd expect in a mushroom risotto was lacking and the entire dish was plated with a sauce that was dessert sweet that took away everything else done right. The Parmesan walleye had a weird herby flavor in the crust that you couldn't directly see or identify. Tartar sauced unceremoniously plopped on top instead of on the side so you could decide for yourself how much was needed. We also had the tuna tartare as an appetizer. Presentation looked great. But the tuna was mushy and flavorless, the avocado not yet ripe and freshly fried tortillas that tasted and looked great, but we're so bubbly from the frying you couldn't place the tuna pieces on them to eat together as designed. Service was not friendly or engaging. Waited at the host stand for a while as different staff came up to grab stuff, but no one saying anything to us. Eventually someone from behind the bar came and seated us. Waited again for a while before our waitress came by. Once our order was in the food was back actually super quick. This is my second visit. My prior visit was a work dinner. For that evening service was much better. I had the smoked pork chop which was slightly undercooked and also lacking much in flavor, despite the char. We have not been for brunch and many of the reviews and most of the pictures people have shared cover that. Perhaps better for breakfast??

I got an Ube Twister with Coconut Snow and added Lychee popping boba, completely delicious. About 30-40 min later we got seated upstairs in the bar after being added to the waitlist by phone number. Super cute place, very cozy and low light. My drink was something with Japanese whiskey, raspberry, and popping boba. A bit heavy on the whiskey for my taste but my friend's fruity little cocktail was much better. Sadly we were seated after the kitchen closed so we didn't get to try any of the food, but will definitely be back!

I came here a few days ago during their "crabby hour" from 8-10 pm and we all each ordered our set of a truffle fries, a Granada slider, and a mahi mahi taco. The fries were incredible. They were super crispy, cooked perfectly and I love truffle with fries. The best part however was the aioli that came paired with it. It had a citrusy, umami flavor that was just so incredible I would have taken a whole jar home if I was able to. Absolutely perfect and can make any dish. The Granada slider was also awesome. It was bigger than I expected and included that wonderful aioli again, along with some greens, the patty, manchego cheese, and bacon. It was delicious and once again that aioli is just perfect and it was a much larger amount of food than I was expecting. I also had the mahi mahi taco as well which was good, but not my favorite. I'd probably try something instead of this again next time. Also, the staff is super funny and really awesome. We had Cassie (sorry if I got this wrong) and she was super kind, made a lot of jokes, and even gave us a tour of the theatre when we asked if we could take a peak to see what it looks like. Incredible service, we had a really great time with her. We all are definitely going to come back soon, and maybe even come for a show! But the food alone is worth a visit for sure in my opinion. I strongly recommend the Granada Slider and you have to get the truffle fries with the aioli. At one point it even seemed that they forgot about us and the manger noticed so she made sure to get our food to us. The server later apologized and was very kind but I couldn't help but notice she took the time to chit chat with coworkers while we waited. Nightingale was packed, but fortunately, once two patrons saw my face from the bar, they quickly paid their bill and left. My face often compels people to vacate crowded establishments in Minneapolis, and we often find seats. After grabbing the two seats, we ordered wine and a wonderful Amaro-based cocktail. Jules was our bartender/server, and although he was crazy busy, he found time to be gracious to us. We ordered the meatball appetizer, halibut, and the Nightingale hamburger. My halibut was sublime, cooked perfectly, and it wasn't drowned in sauce. Bravo! The meatballs were tender and delicious, but the hamburger was not memorable. It was good, not great. Despite all the accolades above, when the bill came, I was charged two dollars after requesting a cucumber slice for my Pimms Cup. Perhaps the source of this pettiness came from the kitchen, but it wasn't smart, because the $2.00 charge placed a shroud over my experience. The bill was $125, and because of the petty two-buck charge, I only left a $25 tip. I was going to leave a $30 tip. I will sadly remember those 2 bucks forever. It was a myopic move and a passive-aggressive way to handle my request. In my birthplace home of NYC, a bartender would have said, "Getting a cucumber slice is a pain in the rear, would you mind skipping it?" My response, "Sure, it's not a big deal."

The mushroom bruschetta similarly underwhelmed - it felt like it was missing something to make it stand out. The bright spot? The drinks were solid and well-crafted. I wanted to rate this higher based on the atmosphere and service alone, but at the end of the day, the food has to deliver. With so many great options in Minneapolis, Nightingale needs to step up its culinary game to match its lovely setting. I'd consider returning for drinks, but probably not for dinner.
