The vibes here are absolutely immaculate. If you're going for a family dinner or a date OR you just want to sit at the bar and eat good food, this is the place to do it. As far as the fare - I thought the food was good, but not the best thing I've ever had. I think it's a great place to go if you want tried and true yummy food but it's not somewhere that you'll be wowed by every dish. The mocktails and cocktails were gorgeous and tasty. The appetizers were great - I really enjoyed the crab cakes as the flavor and sauce were good, I just wished the crust wasn't so heavy on the outside. The shrimp was delicious! The jambalaya had good flavor but I wished there was more rice and that the rice wasn't mixed in already at the start. There was cold potato salad on top which I enjoyed but some at our table didn't. For entrees we got the shrimp etouffe which I didn't try but looked tasty. The steak frites were great! Steak was cooked well and the fries were the highlight of the meal! They know how to make and season a shoestring fry. The sauce on the side was also tasty. The stroganoff was good - short rib was delicious but the dish as a whole was just didn't wow me though it was tasty. The meatloaf was again good but not great. Its signature characteristic is its noise level. It's overpowering. Enjoyed the drinks and liked the visual design of the space. The food was pretty good, but for a place this pricey you expect something a cut above. It's good if you're looking for the "bustling city life" type of atmosphere. And I've been in restaurants in New Orleans that had exactly this feel, so they did a good job of creating that. Although I've seen reviews saying it's a great place for an anniversary dinner, I wouldn't recommend it for something intimate like that. It felt more like a regular dinner outing, with some missed opportunities to make it stand out. I'm talking about things like putting the couple into a booth and a less brightly lit corner, etc. Instead, we were in a table in the center with heavy foot traffic all around us. If you're expecting a Wisconsin supper club experience, turn back. Mr. Paul's is down-to-earth sophistication, echoing New York or Los Angeles, but without the attitude. My partner and I stopped in after some worthwhile shopping in downtown Edina. Mr. Paul's is huge, with three bars and a patio. However, the design team ensured intimacy, and diners never feel they're in a cavernous space. We grabbed two chairs at the first bar we saw, and settled in to be taken care of by the charming Dante. He might have the same name as Signore Alighieri, but this Dante has more to do with the heights, rather than the depths. Mr. Paul's Dante is the consummate bartender, server, and spokesperson for Tommy Begnaud, the owner/chef of Mr. Paul's. He also owns Mothership Pizza. New Orleans-inspired, Mr. Paul's menu has all your favorites. We stuck with the happy-hour bar menu since it was 5:00 PM on a Friday. By the way, the joint was jumpin, with tons of people enjoying themselves. Our hamburger and chicken sandwich were large and delicious. We added a few Pimms cocktails, and life was good. Both of us were in Heaven, thanks to Mr. Paul's and Dante's protagonist at the bar. We will return to Mr. Paul's Supper Club with reckless alacrity. It's another great Minneapolis spot. read more

This place offers large seating booth that are very comfortable, which makes this a perfect spot for groups, and the fact that they take reservations is a big plus for me since I can't stand waiting for a table. The food is very good, maybe not the absolute best in town, but definitely solid quality food, especially if you're after an upscale experience at a reasonable price point. We visited Sunday night for our date night. We did not have a reservation but we got seated right away. We started off with the Nola Paloma and the Mr. Paul Sazerac to drink. Loved the Paloma it was so tasty. Next our appetizers blew us away. The grilled oysters and the meatballs with the cheese curds. The meatballs were a little spicy but not too overwhelming. For our entrees we got the lobster gnocchi and the double cut pork chop. The gnocchi was perfectly soft with decent portions of lobster. The overall experience is the standard "fancy" affair where the wait staff gets everything for you; including cracking pepper on your plate. I'm not a big fan of that since it feels overbearing but I get how some people like the "white glove" aspect. That said, everyone was extremely nice and the setup was efficient. The prime rib was far and away the star of the show. Not smoked, perfectly rendered, juicy, and just charred enough. Biscuits were also fantastic and the eggs not too rubbery. Outside of that it was mostly "ok". The etouffee was mainly broth with just a few pieces of baby shrimp. The cold bar was Sysco lox, cheese, crackers, and fruit. Desserts were also Sysco packaged bars and danishes. The main draw were the beignets but I wish there was a jam to dip them in. I expected so much from this place but was rather let down. We went here for a birthday celebration (a sweet 16th for my daughter - this becomes important later). We were sat in a booth in the main walkway. The walkway was narrow, and the bar was directly behind. When we were there, the bar was full of patrons. Their conversations were so loud it was basically our conversation. The waitress could barely take our order in the right walkway based on the number of people who'd been sat in the area. The food was great! I wish there were some more options, but we did love what we had. The waitress later encouraged us to go check out the back bar. I thanked her and said we were ok. (Because we had underage girls with us). She kept pushing which seemed odd. We were offered desert and said no thanks. It's a little on the pricey side but well worth it in my opinion. Everything we tried was delicious. We started off with stuffed mushrooms. Perfect way to start the night. For entrées both of my friend's got the Lobster Gnocchi, which was delicious. The Gnocchi was so fluffy and airy and just melts in your mouth. It's a must try. I got the Scallops with Pork Belly, coconut white grits with fresh Thai Basil, cilantro and coconut-chili crunch. The Scallops were cooked perfectly and the flavors were perfect all together. We had the absolute best dinner on a Wednesday night. We were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday and we received the best service. The restaurant has dark decor and has candles throughout. As soon as we sat down they gave us a gift card for our next visit to thank us for us coming in to celebrate his birthday. We both ordered an old fashioned and the frog legs for an appetizer. It was our first time having frog legs and let me just say I was blown away! They were so tender and spicy- tasted like chicken. I would solely go back just for the frog legs! The frog legs took awhile to cook so they gave us an appetizer on the house- the shrimp which was very good too. For the entrees- the steak, potatoes, and lobster were all cooked to perfection. We ended the night with a dessert drink they also gave to us on the house and some cheesecake. Our waiter Will was so attentive and ended up knowing who my boyfriend was from the gym. I think you're paying for the ambiance here because the food was 'just ok' to me and quite spendy for what you get. 4 of us went for Fat Tuesday and it was so loud in there with the band that we couldn't talk to each other for most of our meal. The drinks were great, small but well crafted. We shared some appetizers: we loved the popovers and stuffed mushrooms. The meatballs were ok, but I wouldn't order them again. I enjoyed my stroganoff, but 2 people at our table got the halibut and I thought it was pretty bland. For $37 it didn't even come with any side dish or rice/vegetable or anything- not your typical supper club vibes. We enjoyed some beignets for dessert. Overall, idk if we'll be back. I have been to Mr Paul's Supper Club twice now...once as a larger work event and recently for brunch. I can report that both times were fantastic! As a work event they were organized, had a wonderful party room area in back with a bar, and terrific food! The service was impeccable as well and the team coordinated beautifully! We all had a fantastic time and it was a beautiful and fun location for a party, rehearsal dinner or any type of event. Would highly recommend it! For our brunch it was another great experience. The dining room is really beautiful and comfortable with lots of windows, the service was again fantastic. We didn't have any drinks but their coffee was very good. However mine was actually almost boiling in temperature (abnormally hot and still bubbling in my cup) so they may want to look into that. I burnt my tongue on even the smallest sip so I had to ask for some ice. For the meals we had the Deviled Egg Toast (very tasty and flavorful), the Grilled Mushrooms (also great and loved the Parmesan Polenta!!) and the Eggs Begnaud with crab cake (LOVED this dish!! The biscuit was fantastic and the crab cake was delicious). I know some people avoid this area due to parking, but there is a free 3+hour ramp both across the street and right next to the restaurant and parking was easy. Yum! Came for a work dinner with a larger group. Tried several apps: pickles and popovers, crab beignets, stuffed mushrooms, jumbo grilled shrimp. All very good! Wowee! My partner and I popped into the Supper Club for a quick snack and a drink and we had a blast! The service was so swift and lovely. Staff was super helpful in getting us set up at the bar (my partner used a wheelchair which can sometimes pose a challenge for some institutions). The Mac n cheese had crumbles from hot and regular Cheetos and it was phenomenal! Just the right amount of creamy cheese with the crumble crunches were The asparagus was also wonderful. We started with a few cocktails. A negroni, French 75 and a passion fruit martini. One of the best negroni's we've ever had. For the martini, we didn't realize until we drank it all that it had passion fruit filled pearls at the bottom. They were delicious though. We had a few appetizers to start. The stuffed mushrooms were delecious. They had a nice texture and the filling was good. The mussels were very good as well. They had a curry broth that was so good you could eat it as a soup. The crab beignets were ok. You didn't really taste or see the crab. More like fried dough balls. Wouldn't get those again. For entree, we got a hanger steak. The potatoes were amazing. Crispy on the bottom and fluffy. Best part of the dish. The steak was good. Meat was a little tough but still good. Bearnaise was just ok. Could have used more tarragon. Now the meatloaf was out of this world. They use both beef and pork. The spices inside were perfect. The mashed potatoes were creamy. The gravy was rich. Just a delicious dish. Highly recommend. There were definitely highlights with the food, and there were aspects that were leaning towards mediocre. One major highlight was that for the dishes that contained lobster and crawfish, the amount of such that was given was very generous, which I appreciated. This made the lobster gnocchi a lot more enjoyable. To continue on the lobster gnocchi, due to the amount of lobster, along with the softness of the gnocchi, the bisque truffle, and the cheese on the top, the saltiness and savor were present, and the dish was amazing. The Creole meatloaf had very flavorful gravy, which helped a lot, because it made the whipped potato, combined with meatloaf, bacon, and carrots, a delicious entity altogether. Simply amazing. The crawfish etouffee was great as well, as I could tell it was smothered well, with the sauce literally coating the crawfish. I wasn't a fan of the walleye because the fried flavor was very strong, meaning that I felt like I was mainly tasting the breading rather than the fish, and even the fish itself didn't have enough seasoning, and relied on the sauce for flavor instead. The crab beignets were okay, and tasted that much better with the tartar sauce next to them, which once again indicated lack of seasoning. The beignets were mediocre as well with way too much powdered sugar and not enough white sugar sticking to the beignets, so they were relying on powdered sugar for the looks yet missed the texture complexity. The same night, I had a stomachache which may have been caused by the richness of the food. It doesn't matter to me at this point, but I must say it was very hard to digest the food that night, recalling from my memory. There was a lot of rich stuff. Our server (Grace, I believe) was extremely pleasant and helpful! She was easy-going, engaged in conversations with us, and ensured our order was done correctly in speedy manners. I asked for Medium Rare steak and received a Medium tough steak. The pork chop was dry, no juice/barely much flavor. The cocktails were good though, a bit watered down though. And the Mac and cheese was so plain, no flavor. As a Foodie the food was just mediocre. The shrimp appetizer was the tastiest thing on the menu!
