Happy hour! Sunday thru Friday 3-7 pm!
    Stacey D.

Two words: Shaw's burger The burger just falls apart when you bite into it. I spilt half with my friend and had to pick off the mushrooms (if you like mushrooms, this is just a bonus for you then!). After making it mushroom free, my half was gone in minutes. They also have large wings. The Cajun is the dry rub. The wings came out hot and stayed hot while we were sitting out on the patio but overall the wings didn't have much flavor. They were a lot of fun to pull apart though. During happy hour, appetizers are half off. The wings are listed under appetizers but apparently they don't count as part of the happy hour specials which we found out the hard way. They do have a patio out back. It is well shaded and we found seating easily on a Sunday evening.

For having Tas Cru Blues here, they attract the best so they deserve 5 stars for entertainment. It's packed & worth every drink, CD purchase, & I hope they bring more Blues talent again. Tas Cru has boogie worthy polyrhythmic moments divine.

On a last-minute work trip to Minneapolis, I asked all of my foodie friends where I absolutely had…read moreto make a reservation, and the answer was universal: Vinai. I was able to snag a solo spot at the bar/chef's counter about a week in advance for a 7 pm weekday slot, and I'm so glad I listened. I'd never had Hmong food before coming to Minneapolis. It's plentiful here, but it's quickly become clear to me why Vinai is the "it" spot for a nicer Hmong dinner. The menu is vast and broken down by size of dish, which makes it easy to mix and match. Since I was solo and wanted to try as many things as possible, I opted for several smaller things. Pro tip: sitting at the chef's counter unlocks an additional "secret menu" of daily specials you can only order if you're sitting there. These seem like the best part of the menu, and I'm so grateful my friends pushed me to book the chef's counter specifically. What I ordered: - Severine (gin, vodka, white vermouth, lime leaf): A martini riff with a Hmong twist. Really light but interesting. - Curry rice ball (garlic cream cheese and blue crab in a fried ball): Tasty but nothing that blew me away. I'd skip on a future visit. - Grilled shrimp (3 whole head-on grilled prawns topped with green mango and jicama salad, served with purple sticky rice): This was off the secret menu and was unreal. Light, herbal, fresh. Drool-worthy. - Shrimp-pork toast (prawn mixture on Texas toast with apricot chili): So tasty, punchy flavors. My waitress kindly let me get a half order because I was getting full but really wanted to try this AND the fried rice. - Crabby fried rice (generously topped fried rice with blue crab): Half of this became lunch for the next day. - White rabbit candy ice cream scoop topped with olive oil and sea salt: Perfect end to an indulgent, incredible meal. The food here is insanely flavorful, and it's such a fun vibe; even on a Tuesday night, it filled up pretty quickly! I cannot recommend sitting at the bar more: you get really great service, you get to watch the chefs cook, AND you unlock the secret menu. My waitress was a highlight of the night, super helpful with every ordering decision and even brought me a complimentary half order of the shrimp-pork toast when I was torn between two crowd favorites trying to pick my last item. Truly above and beyond. Genuinely hoping work sends me back to Minneapolis soon, if only to eat here again!

The cocktails are fun and definitely use flavors inspired by the culture; I loved that our waiter (the bartender) really spent time with us to explain the menu and his recommendations. I particularly enjoyed the carpaccio - all the toppings were incredibly light, fresh, and flavor...and then pair that with the purple sticky rice...DIVINE. Then we also really enjoyed the catfish lettuce wraps; I'm not usually a catfish lover, but they were so lightly breaded and with the noodles, sauce, and pickled veggies, they were delicious. We tried one of their cold noodle salads, which wasn't my fav. I also tried one of their curry crab rice balls, which was delicious. Overall, I can see why this place is on so many "top restaurants of the twin cities" lists!

When I go to new cities, I typically seek out food that is specific to the region and thus a little more interesting to me. You can get a burger anywhere, and a cheese filled patty, aka a "Juicy Lucy", didn't sound like something I needed to try. But my husband kept talking about it and really seemed bent on having one so we decided to come here to try it out. We showed up during their happy hour, from 4-5pm, and they had $5 draft beers. Score! It's a cute place with ample seating, nice natural light from the large windows, and a relaxed atmosphere. I ordered the Juicy Lucy, a burger patty stuffed with cheese and topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and pub sauce. I chose the Impossible patty version, but you can also get it with their house made black bean burger. Hubby chose the Garlic Girl, a black bean cheeseburger topped with bacon (also made in-house), berbere aioli, lettuce, and pickled onion. Each burger came with fries. Both burgers were spectacular and delicious in their own way. The bacon on hubby's burger was incredible, and his burger was rich and satisfying. By my Juicy Lucy, oh my... Every bite was a flavor explosion and intensely delicious without being a gut bomb shockingly. To top it off, the fries were super crispy and just perfect. WOW is all I can say. Note that while the prices may seem a little higher than what you might expect, Francis Burger is a no tipping establishment, as stated on their menu. For the quality of the food and the great service, it was well worth the price! I'll be back if I'm ever in this area again.f

They were out of their yucca frita, which we were sad about, but they gave us a side of plantains when we asked. I love that it's tucked away in Northeast, with a good amount of parking and right on the river! I will definitely be back in the summer to sit and enjoy their string-lit patio. There's not a large amount of seating, but plenty of room for both reservations and walk-ins. It's a small but mighty staff and the service was fantastic. The drink menu is larger than the food menu, with plenty of NA options! My husband enjoyed a hazy IPA while I opted for a BauHaus Nah. Next time I definitely want to try one of the shrub mocktails! It was hard to decide what to order, but we started with the fried brussels sprouts - a MUST get! We agreed these were some of our favorites in the city, plug it was a huge portion for just two of us. Sweet and salty with a hit of acidity from the pickled onions. For dinner, I went with the steak and my husband went with the Cuban. He wouldn't stop raving about how delicious his sandwich was, and my steak was like butter with chimichurri and yuka fries on the side. My only notes would be that the fries & steak were very bland without the chimichurri and the portion was pretty small for the price. We ended the night with the chocolate torte, which was rich and not overpowering. I couldn't really get the hazelnut flavor but I loved the cherries and juice on top. Overall, we will definitely be back to enjoy this spot more - however we might opt to do more drinks and apps than a full dinner since they have so many delicious options!

To say Spoon and Stable hit it out of the park is an understatement. We got a space near the kitchen to watch the chefs make the magic happen, and EACH dish was simply incredible. I have never in my life had an eyes closed "MMMMMM" moment, but I had multiple moments of wow all starting with drinks at the bar and ending with a perfect desert that we took with us.
