I visit Pharr Texas annually and I'd never heard of this place... until now. It is literally around the corner from my family's home. First off I don't know why people are complaining about it being overpriced. I am from California and I thought the price was cheap. I ate three plates, a bowl of posole and fruit. The food was absolutely delicious and I wish I could've gone here every day that I visited. The lady that sat us down, did not appear very friendly, but the food made up for that. You can order French toast, pancakes, or omelette, and it is included in the all you can eat buffet. They also bring out corn or flour tortillas depending on which one you select. The bathrooms are clean, the music is Christian and they are open daily from 8am to 3pm. The lady told me they serve all you can eat lunch as well. They completely change out the breakfast buffet for lunch items and each day they serve a special item. Unfortunately, I was not able to try their lunch, but I will be sure to next time. Edith's Mexican Buffet is located on N. Cage Blvd. in Pharr, Texas, along the I-69C access road. You'll find it on the west side just south of Nolana, between the Red Roof Inn and Volvo Trucks. Open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Edith's offers a reasonably priced, home-style Mexican breakfast and lunch buffet. The restaurant also has locations in downtown Edinburg and in Mission, which reflects strong support and confidence from local customers. This was my first visit to Edith's. The exterior of the building appears recently updated, though parking can be limited during peak hours. Be aware that parking on the hotel side of the divider will result in towing. While signs are posted on the restaurant door, an additional sign on the divider itself would be helpful. Street parking is not available. I remember when this space housed a pancake-house-style diner, and much of the same furniture is still in use. Some booth upholstery shows wear and a few small tears, though the seating remains comfortable. The breakfast buffet features a wide variety of traditional Mexican favorites: several styles of scrambled eggs, beans with or without chorizo, fried potatoes prepared plain, with chorizo, or a la mexicana, chilaquiles, hash browns, huevos rancheros, cheese in salsa, menudo, oatmeal, fresh fruit, and more. Our server, Soraya, was especially friendly and took our drink order as well as requests for eggs cooked to order. Pancakes and waffles are also available upon request. My eggs arrived promptly and were cooked perfectly over medium. The iced tea is offered sweetened or unsweetened. Although I was told the sweet tea was freshly brewed, it did not taste fresh to me and had a hint of lime. Soraya kindly replaced it with unsweetened tea at no extra charge, which was clearly fresh brewed and excellent. Corn tortillas are warmed, while the flour tortillas are freshly made--definitely the better choice in my opinion. Overall, the food was very good. The guisos, potatoes, bacon, beans, and chilaquiles all had solid flavor without being greasy. The chilaquiles were slightly dry on their own, but adding queso in salsa verde made them just right. Some bacon pieces were less crispy than I prefer, though it was easy to select the more well-done pieces. I enjoyed my breakfast and would gladly return. I noticed that some reviewers complained about Christian music playing in the background, but during my visit the music remained subtle and did not interfere with conversation. Personally, I enjoyed it. I look forward to returning to try the lunch buffet, especially the chile rellenos--one of my favorites--along with the many other guisos they offer. read more

Pharr location. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated. The table was super dirty like visible dirty, I had to ask for them to clean it. The tortillas were burnt not little crispy, burnt lol I left it on top of the plate so the server could see it. Yes I know that is not her fault. The chilaquiles used to be good, today it was like if they opened a bag of Tostitos and added water down green salsa. It was disappointing. I used to love this place. The server was nice and attentive. They used to let you get in the waiting list thru yelp not they don't, and that is also a disappointment. Of course during busy hours parking is going to be tight they have parking on both sides of building Services average no complaints When you walk in the main door there's a waiting lobby and you have to sign in to the waiting list .it's a tablet easy to use very simple you take a seat and they call you when they are ready for you It is a buffet however particular items must be ordered with the waiter examples are -omelettes ,eggs ,pancakes ,French toast ,waffles, and toast. inside the building everything looks new and fresh I am bathrooms are very very clean I've only had the breakfast everything taste as expected nothing out of the ordinary If you make it just before lunch and you want to eat lunch they charge a dollar extra In between swapping from breakfast to lunch I was told there was a five minute wait so just a heads up if you're looking for Mexican buffet that has all the favorite Mexican foods you will go to "los compadres"very crowded ,sucky parking but worth it just because the food and variety But I will definitely be back to Edith's good food ,good parking ,good service,and nice fresh environment. Golden Corral...step aside because Edith's has arrived. Edith's takes the approach of quality over quantity...some buffets present you with many more options BUT the quality isn't there. Edith's has a smaller buffet option but they are what we can call the "greatest hits" of Mexican food. They have mole, carne guisada, puerco en salsa, enchiladas, menudo, pozole...and the list goes on. Each one feels like my mom cooked it in the back and told them to bring out...not many Mexican buffets can reach that home cooked flavor... Edith's definitely did. I personally had the enchiladas...the cheese on top was nicely toasted. They also had menudo...the tripe was clean, cooked well, and no fat on it. They also had the right amount of pozole in it...I definitely had more than one bowl of it. If there is one downside of the place...is the parking and the wait. There is a parking spot for veterans so kudos to them! I made sure to use it considering I served....and we waited about 20 mins before entering. But I won't knock it because you should know that parking will be tight and there is a wait as well...and if you still decide to go, you already knew what to expect. The food was cold and super greasy. The waitress was not helpful at all. It was our first time and didn't realize we had to order some things on the menu separately. Did I mention it was one thing from the lunch buffet, the waitress charged me extra and failed to mention that she would do that. I would have not taken the one food item! Disappointing. We were sat and waited 10 mins for a server to come even ask us what we wanted to drink. It was not busy, maybe there were three or four other tables. My first experience going was very good. Second time which was this past Saturday very disappointing no spoons where available food on buffet line empty and I understand inflation is on the high. My husband and I have been going to Ardith's since they were i. Weslaco. This restaurant has some amazing food. The breakfast me ni includes made to order items. The tortillas are home made. They have a great selection of food and the owner has always been super kind to us. This is a Christian owned establishment and I highly recommend it. 10/10 faith-based restaurant. Verses on the walls and Christian music playing. Came on Valentine's Day around 1ish. Wait time was good, about a 30 minute wait for it being a holiday. Got seated and greeted pretty fast. Super nice waitstaff was always on top of things before we even asked, very attentive. Food wise, was pretty good food meat was nice and tender. Not a huge variety of different foods but what they had were decent. Extremely small buffet area and kept trying not to bump into people while serving food. But their drinks were good and staff was excellent. Prices I felt were high but everything is expensive nowadays so it may be priced right for you. Overall a decent outing. read more
