Absolutely loved the food here. Great space, amble seating. Options for indoor vs. outdoor, including seating at the bar (where the sushi is made too). Staff is very kind, attentive, despite how busy or slow service can be. The ramen was delicious. A ton of flavor from the broth, noodles, and meat. I got the traditional tonkotsu ramen with pork. I was a big fan of the dish. My egg wasn't runny/half boiled sadly, completely hard boiled. Not enough of a con to really impact the dish. The gyoza was great, with options of either boiled or pan fried. I love that they gave the option. I'm glad I got it as an appetizer, one of the best gyoza I've had in years. Waitress was awesome. I ordered beef fried rice. Wouldn't order again rhe meat was diced up small and had salty taste from to much so sauce. Oh and they were also out of forks. I can eat with chopsticks but there was a few people with me who cannot. So that was annoying the food was cold by the time forks were available. I also ordered a cocktail it was $13 dollars and it was served in a spam can. Grossed me out. But the sushi was good lol. I would recommend investing in Silverware and dish ware for your guest. Easy parking in the rear, gender neutral bathrooms. Bars, booths, high and low tops. Lots of art. Our server, Genevieve was very down to earth and attentive. We came right at opening on a Tuesday and were pleased to find that they have happy hour (4-6pm) specials during the week. I had the maitake mushroom and my husband had the spam musubi to start ($6 each during happy hour). Holy smokes did they ever give me a lot of mushroom! It was breaded and fried, served on a bed of baby arugula. It had a lemony taste and sprinkled with what looked like saffron. It was delicious, the closest thing I've had to calamari since going vegan. Big bang for my buck, usually it's $13. So it was over half off! I love a deal. They have an entire section for vegans in the menu, a rare treat at a sushi lounge. I had a kanpyo roll (my favorite, I can never pass up kanpyo.) and MJ's which featured avocado, tempura asparagus, and vegan cream cheese. I finished the MJ's there because avocado doesn't keep well and tucked away all but one piece of the kanpyo for later. I really filled up on the delicious maitake. My husband had the Diablo roll, it was 8 pieces for $18. It was served in a dish and swimming in sauce, the presentation left something to be desired. He said it was tasty, but a little overpriced. Though tempted by the desserts, we were plenty full and resisted. I would love to come back again during happy hour for more maitake and maybe try another roll or some ramen... Overpriced, tasteless. I went here for my birthday as a stupid kid with no budget and I regret it heavily, not because of the gorgeous interior and delicate food-work that taunted me towards it in the first place, but because of how unbelievably expensive everything is. Especially when you finally get the food, and realize the ramen tastes as good as tofu, and the tofu tastes as good as water. The best thing here were the Edo Fries. Great music from the 80's and 90's (Prince, INXS, Cyndi Lauper) at the perfect volume. Plenty of seating options from bar to high tops to booths. Two TVs at the bar. Cool artwork on the wall. The place is large-ish, but has an intimate feel. Katie, our server, was friendly and attentive. Loads of vegan menu items clearly marked. Reasonable prices. We ordered the two vegan specials: maitake mushrooms and general Tao's cauliflower. Both yummy! Then we ordered nearly all the vegan sushi. The asparagus roll and avocado rolls were excellent. The mad hatter roll was gorgeous and tasty too. The sushi chef was working alone busting his butt and he still presented everything beautifully. Ordered two drinks: Edo collins and Tokyo limeade. Just a great sushi spot. My mom and her friends have been coming here for years and this past summer we went to celebrate a birthday! The appetizers were a good size for sharing between 4-5 people. I thought this would be a great little hidden spot, but unfortunately it was not. I can't recommend eating here for a few reasons. I smelled some sort of spray, maybe a bug spray, but maybe not. This kept me a little suspicious and I was on the lookout. No bugs seen and it looked clean, but I couldn't shake the smell. If the food would have been good, I would have probably returned. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi Noodles, which I do not see on the menu anymore. My friend had a rice with kimchi, which I also don't see anymore. It appears that they have a new menu or it's not the same online. However, we all (5) ordered something different and only one person didn't complain. I couldn't get past 25% of my ramen. It was pretty tasteless. My friend called her Kimchi with rice "angry"! Anyway, I think bases on this one visit that I won't back, but go and try yourself and let me know. read more

My family went here for my birthday dinner and I thought most of the food was fantastic. I ordered the specialty shrimp scampi ramen and it was packed with flavor. We also ordered the flame thrower sushi roll and the yakiudon to share. The sushi was great, but I didn't love the yakiudon. The service was good, but there was an awkward moment where the wrong roll was brought out to us originally and the server was pretty passive aggressive about taking it back, however, the service was great besides that one interaction. The building itself is not that impressive, but the inside is decorated in a very interesting way. It is kind of dark, and it does look like someone tossed some things together to create the ambience. However, I guess maybe that's how the dishes are too. I didn't expect some of the different Ramen or udon combinations that they had where are they really just threw things into ramen and turn it into an unusual dish. They have some traditional ramen and udon dishes but the ones that they just throw together are the ones that are interesting to try. I really enjoyed the curry ramen which they do it very different than most places - the dish I had had so many scallops, a bunch of vegetables, fried shrimp, tempura, and even good chunks of meat in the curry. The rainbow sushi roll was one of the best I have had, very fresh. Shrimp tempura roll was very good too, just a bit on sweeter side (maybe too much eel sauce). Normally the food is great, but I was disappointed this time when I ordered Edo house fried rice, add pork belly. I should have just had the house rice without the pork belly. It's was as tough as stale beef jerky and as I ate it, the more the pork got air, the tougher it got. I almost threw up at the end because I was trying to force myself to enjoy it but it got tougher and the flavor changed but I hate wasting food so I tried until I gagged. The spicy pork ramen is my favorite menu item and it packs so much flavor -perfect for chilly days! Came here with a couple friends looking to go out to dinner Monday night. I'd just seen something on Facebook claiming Edo had won the Metro Times award for "Best Sushi in Metro Detroit". I was intrigued so I decided to check it out. Edo Ramen is a gallery-esque ramen shop located in a small strip mall. The restaurant is decorated with a lot of different music themed art work. I ordered the Kai ramen which is a bowl of ramen topped with a mini salmon filet, scallops, shrimp, mussels, shumai, and fish cake. I also ordered the softshell crab sushi roll. Our food arrived after a short while. My ramen was slightly warm which was strange because its not like it took that long for it to come out. The noodles were overcooked. The broth was bland. The shumai was pretty unpleasant. Like a flavorless dough ball. The shrimp, mussels, and scallops were unremarkable. The two salmon pieces were the only redeeming quality of this dish. There was a ridiculous quantity of corn in the bowl. It just didn't fit in with the dish and was out of place. I'm not used to corn in my ramen, and especially not with such liberal use. "Let's put a lot of corn in the ramen. It'll be our thing." Overall, it was pretty gross. If the noodles weren't soggy and it was hot, it would have helped greatly. Oh well. Lesson learned. It didn't help that the softshell crab roll was also equally disgusting. It was slimy and did not have the standard crunchy texture you'd relate to a fried crab product. This was the worst softshell crab roll I've had yet, anywhere. I mean even the local buffets are serving better rolls. Thank you for the recommendation Metro Times. It just shows how useless their recommendations are. Someone at my table ordered the vegan spring rolls. Crispy, crunchy outside texture. Porridge like on the inside seeming to lack all flavor. I had to pretend like it was good when I was eating it as not to make my friend not feel bad about their appetizer choice. Anyways, while we were eating our meal, one of our table mates refused to eat his pork tonkotsu ramen. We bided him on saying how great it is. He responded, "This is the worst food I've ever had. Each bite is worse than the next. It tastes like dust. It just takes up space in your mouth." I mean, he is only 8 years old but I fully agreed with him. I came here on a random Tuesday afternoon and it was pretty quiet here so I was happy about that for myself. It took me a second to figure out the parking because the parking is in the back and I pulled into the wrong one. The restaurant is connected to an art facility also so I almost walked in on that place too! I was craving ramen but I was also craving sushi so to my surprise they had a lunch special that was ramen and sushi! Two in one for $14 so I was pumped! I did however look at the normal menu and the prices did look a little steep. I mean $7 for a basic California roll and $9 for an appetizer of takoyaki? Get real.. are these made of gold?! So I ordered the traditional ramen with the California roll (Krab salad) and I'm gonna be honest, I didn't really love either of them. The California roll was a pretty dry and flavorless, I typically like a more creamy krab salad. The ramen was also kind of weird. It's not like the typical traditional ramen you would get. The ramen had pork, not pork belly, but just slices of pork, crispy onion, meatballs, corn, and a few other ingredients. That ramen was a little strange and I didn't love it. The broth was also luke warm so it was hard for the noodles to separate. All in all, I did read the reviews here prior, but was hoping they would be wrong because I love sushi and ramen. This came as a recommendation from someone who has lived in the Berkley/Royal Oak area for a while, but honestly, this is not the spot if you're looking for authentic Asian food. The vibe was really cool, with live music and almost a hipster feel. We sat at the bar and were able to watch the sushi chefs, which was cool. However, I had the miso ramen with pork and the pork just wasn't good. It was a giant hunk of meat and not tender or easy to eat. I've never had ramen like that, and the flavor was lacking. I know from my cousin that he is continuously working on innovating his offerings, the most recent is collaborating with another business to create an Asian flavored ice cream. Seasoned well, not to spicy but definitely a kick, full of flavor. Could have used more vegetables. I had like two mushrooms in the whole bowl.
