Get: Hwe Dup Bap (raw pieces of fish on top of steam rice and lettuce mixed with Korean Hot Sauce). I have to say this review is primarily for one dish...because I always get the same thing for take out. I love their Hwe Dup Bap. Although I'll admit my eyes have strayed and I've been eyeing other things on their menu as well..but so far I have been a steadfast loyal fan of this dish. Hwe Dup Bap is the Korean version of Chirashi but with a spicy/sweet twist, the hot pepper paste/vinegar/sugar sauce! If you're not a fan of the spicy, don't get this, not that its too spicy, it just has a nice kick. I also ask for double the Cho Gochu Jang sauce because it definitely needs at least that in my opinion. What I like about their version is 1) good value, its 11.95! Usually it's ~$15 to $17 at some other restaurants. 2) great texture as there are not too many stringy vegetables (i'm looking at you H-Mart, you're dish has too many weird stringy radishes and carrots in it and ruins the texture of the dish) 3) Good amount of the good type of raw fish, love the salmon and white tuna! I also love love love me a restaurant in New Brunswick with dedicated parking. Okay...they only have a lot for two cars, but this is primarily a take-out spot and people are in and out plusss most restaurants are just a street parking free-for-all. I try to go on off hours to get my fix so I can park, get my food and git. Service here has been pretty good as well, no complaints. I will say call ahead if you don't want to wait during peak dinner times. Next time I go I want to try one of their fat cups or the musubi (spam rice thingy)...overall, I have to give them a 4 cause I'm usually here every other week, if not every week. Yes! Another sushi spot in town! I usually frequent Poke Nagomi, but wanted to give this spot a try. Overall 5/5 and i'll be back. 5/5: Wait time and service were quick - I came during the weekday lunch rush 4/5: I got a Sake bowl with 4 extra pieces of Salmon (sake). Total was a little over $18 - a little high from the regular price of $12. 5/5: Salmon was fresh, came in a HUGE quantity (again, probably because I did order extra fish) and was sliced thick and generously. Rice was pretty good and it came with a healthy portion of avocado. I requested no cucumbers, which usually is included. 5/5: Last, but not least, I liked that the to-go bag included an ice pack. I really liked this attention to detail because most sashimi eaters know that temperature indeed does matter. Having the ice pack on top of my Sake bowl during a 95*F summer day was a nice additional touch. 4/5: When compared to the selection like a typical poke spot (Poke Nagomi); they lacked the flexibility of having the Chipotle-style fixings to add to the bowl. Definitely a good place to eat on College Ave if you're a college student on a budget and craving some Asian food! The food here is tasty and flavorful, and it's prepared right when you order it so you know it's going to be fresh. The portions are big too so you really do get the most for your money. My favorite is the fat cup (imagine a fat sandwich but a rice cup version of it) because there are so many different options and sides that come with it. There are still so many other foods you can get on the menu though like sushi rolls, edo fries, and other Korean dishes. Tonkatsu ramen ($8.95) 2/5 - wasn't anything special. Soup was pretty bland and didn't have that fatty ramen taste. Noodles were very chewy and tasted more like the instant ramen places. The ramen came with one piece of meat and two pieces of imitation crab meat. Not sure what I was expecting considering ramen isn't this stores speciality. I got it with a spicy salmon roll which was $3 extra. Their spicy salmon here is a salmon roll with spicy mayo on top unlike other Japanese restaurants where the salmon is chopped up and mixed with spicy mayo. Sake bowl ($9.95) 3/5 - more rice than anything in my opinion. Salmon was pretty good but not the best. Spicy mayo didn't have enough of a kick to it. This is a small/almost hole-in-the-wall sized take-out place with a few seatings, some outdoor seating, and parking right in front of the restaurant, so you can also sit in your car to eat if you want. Staff were nice. I got a Fat Cup rice bowl order with Chicken Teriyaki, Fried Egg, Vegetable Gyoza, and Nori. The bowl comes with a bit of veggies if you're worried about that. The whole bowl was covered with eel sauce, no need for the extra packets of soy sauce they provide. It was so delicious and flavorful on its own! Sorry it was so good I was halfway through eating before I remembered to take pix! The bowl was also huge! I consider myself a pretty good eater, but I actually had a bit leftover in the end. Went for lunch with a group of four. We all got fatcups and were NOT disappointed. It's not a quick place, expect to wait 15minutes at least (depends on how busy they are) for your meal. It's authentic and filling so be prepared to chow down! Looking forward to going there again. read more

Got the cheese bokki- generous sauce, higher quality fish cake, and a perfectly cooked hard boiled egg. One of the best I've had after living in Seoul for many years. Got a double bowl with spicy pork and chicken katsu. Chef was savvy enough to put the scallions on the katsu and the radish pickle on the pork. This is quite a good place for a place that just does takeout! The staff is very friendly, and welcome you into their small (ahem) restaurant. This restaurant used to be at another location on Easton ave, which is now taken over by some Indian restaurant. The food was very good. We obviously did dine-in, since it's a take-out only restaurant. Kidding! We of course did take-out. I thought this was an actual Japanese restaurant, but it seems now more Korean based on top of the menu. Still, we ordered sushi. I got the sweet potato roll, and spicy tuna roll. Really delicious. Been here twice now and both experiences have been great! The food is cooked to order, super filling, tastes great AND the owner is beyond friendly. He even surprised us by adding things to our orders on the house! The owner didn't mind us staying past closing while we finished up eating. He sat down and talked to us and the other customers about college and careers. I would definitely recommend the fat cup or the haemul pajeon with rice if you're hungry [one of the best haemul pajeon I've had]! Edo fries with bulgogi were a nice snack and the California bowl was fun to eat! The tonkotsu ramen was delicious and pretty filling as well. This is a niche Japanese takeout in the back roads of New Brunswick. The price range goes from 8 bucks to 25 for a meal for two, and it's amazing for the college students nearby. I went out with friends and got a miso ramen, which, while not out of the world, was well worth the value. The one thing that concerned me was the shortage in seating options, it's freezing cold outside, and there aren't that many seats inside. The food does take a while to come out, somewhere around 10 to 15 minutes for 5 orders, but the quality and quantity of the food is well worth it. read more

Finally got to try this place in the small side and when we walked in it was Hot inside. They have a small amount of seating outside. The service is fairly quick and good side portion hint a lot of rice . My youngest daughter ordered the chicken Udon which actually was pretty good the broth was super yummy. My older daughter ordered the dragon bowl which had eel and avocados ( only 4 pieces of eel and half of a avocado along with sauce along with a whole bunch of rice. My husband ordered one of the Fat Bowls with bulgogi (meat doesn't have much flavor ) along with shrimp tempura which had a weird taste but crunchy and a fried egg along with a lot of rice . I ordered the HWE-DUP-BAP BOWL( Korean style Poke) which was actually pretty good but you have to put the Korean hot sauce on it and also comes with a cup of rice which I didn't use the lettuce that comes under it was just fine. Also I decided to order spam Musubi which was good but way too much rice they need to cut that in half you can't even eat without it falling apart. This place has a lot of potential for the thriving college crowd and I wish them luck in the newer location. I would come back but maybe try something else they have. read more

This place is great for a quick bite! Also, the sushi is really good! I went to another place with my boyfriend and found myself wishing I had gotten a bowl from Edo. You get a substantial amount of food for under $10 and the customer service is great! I watched the girl at the counter find someone's wallet while cleaning a table, and run out to give it to the customer that had just left. I come here with my friends all the time and even when it's busy, we still get our food within a reasonable amount of time and the workers always seem to be having a good time which contributes greatly to the atmosphere! There's not a lot of seating or parking, but since it's a smaller place in New Brunswick, it's to be expected. But regardless, if you manage to find a spot then I would definitely recommend Edo! read more

Tried this for the first time today and was pleased. I really enjoyed their fat cup, it has plenty of meat and toppings with a generous portion of rice. I got the spicy pork, which was too spicy for me but it tasted really good. I just had to eat it in smaller portions. The food was tasty and the staff was nice, it took a bit for the food to come out hence 4 stars instead of 5 stars but it might be because the meat is cooked to order. The second we walked in we were greeted enthusiastically by not only the owner, but the chefs as well! They were very talkative and engaging and ensured our food came out nice and hot.
