Only just a little hidden (I accidentally walked into the Chinese restaurant next door first) is a spot perfect for a quick and delicious lunch. I am a sucker for a sushi lunch special so as soon as I saw combo I was sold. I got the eel avocado & a spicy salmon. The two rolls came with a miso soup and I also got a hot green tea. The soup came out first and it was so tasty, perfect way to start lunch. Piping hot, simple and flavorful. It was served in a paper cup with a plastic spoon, so just be aware that it is a great casual spot. My sushi was delicious as well. Rice was fresh and there wasn't too much of it. Definitely more tempura than I am used to in my spicy rolls but I didn't mind a bit. Great sushi. Fast service. I used to come here for dine-in pre-COVID, but now the restaurant seems more like a takeout spot. The interior doesn't give sit-down vibes since the lighting is pretty bright, the table sets seem to be pretty minimal, and the utensils are disposable. My brother helped me pickup and said it looks like the restaurant is still closed for dine in - if that's the case this place is doing a great job keeping up with take out orders! I was pretty impressed by the meal. The only downside for the hibachi steak lunch was usually hibachi comes with noodles and fried rice - my brother expected his meal to include the buttery fried rice they usually have with hibachi meals. Also, the katsu pork had some of the fried layer coming off but that is to be expected since it was heating up in the container and creating moisture. A quick throw in the air fryer made it taste just as good as in the restaurant! I was happy that the sushi and meals came with many different sauces including a sweet soy sauce mixed with wasabi. I hate to have to write this negative review because typically this restaurant is a place that I love for sushi! I ordered their lunch special on DoorDash which is a great value, but I received it with a long piece of hair on top of my sushi. Sadly DoorDash did nothing to help me and the restaurant did nothing because it was a DoorDash order. So if you are willing to forgo high sanitary standards, you can try your luck with Midori. The food in this place is good. Their sushi rolls are very well made with good rice ratio. I had the shrimp tempura, peanut avocado roll, and the spicy shrimp roll. Their appetizer are also good as well. Their spring roll was crispy and the filling was good. I like how it was not greasy like other establishment. I also had their garlic eggplant dish and it was well made. I have no complaints with their food and I highly recommend the shrimp tempura roll. It was crispy but not fried too much to the point where it was hard. It was super tender and delicious. However, the reason why this place is 4 stars instead of 5 is because their hostess was not very attentive and my party have to wait a good 6-8 minutes after we are all ready to order. They were not busy so it was confusing for us. They did not ask how the food was and did not come as often to check up on us. This Midori truly sucks and doesn't even compare to the one in Piscataway. This location consistently does not put sauce on their rolls. Even if I request in the caption to ensure their is sauce on the roll, BARELY. The roll today also tastes not fresh and like it was sitting out all day. I sometimes get the hibachi dinner and the sauce is always a bit lacking in terms of flavor. The meat seems a little bit dry, and it seems a bit pricey for what it is. Still pretty good, but I would stick to the sushi. The dinner combos come with a salad and miso soup. Midori sushi was a familiar spot when I moved to town as they have a second location near my old home. It was the only delivery sushi spot so we ordered here on a fairly regular basis. Midori HP is quite the same in that they make quality sushi at a reasonable price. Very tight covid precautions in place for pick up. While this is not our favorite sushi spot we do enjoy the rolls we order. Some favorites are the spicy combo and the sweet potato roll. Our daughter loves the Beef Udon and the baby loves to share her noodles. We will conti ue to order sushi take out from Midori for the duration of the pandemic. This is our new favorite place for sushi during covid. We wanted to try a new place and it had decent reviews so we started getting delivery from here this past year. You can order online through their website, call to order or you can order through grubhub or ubereats. Delivery is great and fast and takes anywhere from 20 mins to 45 mins, depending on the day of the week you order. A friday night around dinner time would take the longest, 45 mins. Prices are comparable to other Japanese restaurants in the area. However, they do charge a $2 delivery fee. Food wise, our favorite thing to order is their sushi. It's fresh and tasty. We usually order sweet potato rolls, cucumber roll and peanut avocado rolls. We've tried their vegetable gyoza and vegetable spring rolls but didn't really like them. We also tried their vegetable teriyaki and it was awful. It was basically steamed vegetable with watered down sauce and barely had any taste. Wish they added tofu in this dish also. Our verdict, only order sushi from here if you don't want to be disappointed. read more

So I was looking for a sushi spot in the area because I haven't been living here long. I came across Midori sushi and I was actually really genuinely surprised. I ordered them off door Dash and they had a really great process of handling the food during a pandemic. I really enjoyed how they separated my hot and cold food items. It showed that they gave extra care and they care about their customer base is well-being. This place is not open for indoor dining as of yet but when it is I definitely can't wait to sit down and actually have the whole Midori sushi experience. My first time here, having lunch, now. I ordered Bento Pork Katsu. The fresh veggies in their salad is only spinach and lettuce, not mixed salad. Serving is much less. The shumai in the Bento box was only three pcs. The pork katsu was not marinated. It's fried covered with bread crumbs. The meat is tender, but it's just a small piece of sliced pork katsu is on the Bento box. The California roll are four small pieces. For the price of a Pork Katsu Bento box at $9.95, for me its pricey, as compared to servings from NYC's Japanese restaurants. Clean, cozy, but kind a dark place to dine in during lunch. Clean and separate Men and Women's bathroom. Hoping that you make your servings at least moderately medium or large. I'm willing to pay an extra dollar for it. read more

Not the best miso soup I've had but not the worst. It has onions in it which is different and very good. The complimentary crab salad was delicious. It had tempera flakes and the orange small balls in it. Delicious. The Philadelphia roll was so fresh and so was the Hot roll. The hot roll was very different. It was nice and warm. This is my favorite local place to go for sushi. The restaurant is located in downtown Highland Park. There is a small parking lot, but if you can't find a spot, there's always street parking. The restaurant is small with limited seating, so call ahead if you have more than two people in your party. It's decorated nicely, with Cherry Blossom printed "room divider shades" in the front, samurai swords on the wall. Their sushi is carefully prepared and tastes fresh. I always go for the mochi dessert and it's a great way to end your meal. Don't forget to bring a bottle of wine or sake to go with your meal. I've never actually been inside this place, but it's my go-to for sushi delivery when I'm in New Brunswick. The sushi is fresh, with an appropriate rice-to-fish ratio. One of my favorite things about this place is that the delivery to NB doesn't take ten years, which is how most places tend to be. The past few times I've done delivery, my phone has been messed up so there's a lot of phone tag until I get my food, but the delivery people never seem to be phased by it, which I appreciate. I like to switch up my rolls but my favorites are probably the Alaskan and spider rolls. Don't worry, though, they're all decent. If you have a bunch of people, I'd recommend the party trays. Whenever I want to treat myself with sushi, Midori has been my go-to. The sushi is very fresh and tasty! My absolute favorite is the Spicy Tuna sushi roll. I've had various other rolls, such as the Rainbow Dragon, Spicy Salmon, Yellowfish & Scallion, and I can vouch that they are all just as tasty. Like your usual sushi dish, you will have pickled ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce. For about 4-7 dollars, you can pick a few of the regular sushi rolls, and for a little more you can get the specialty rolls (i.e rainbow dragon). The lunch specials are pretty good - $8.50 for 2 rolls, $11.50 for 3 rolls. The lunch specials will come with miso soup, and some of the other lunch specials come with miso soup and a salad. The staff is very kind. They are professional, prompt, and greet with a ready smile. The place is very well maintained. I also learned that they don't charge you for tea either! read more

The clear noodles were a bit hard, there were a few slices of tofu, couple stalks of broccoli, a few pieces of napa vegetables, and some sliced beef that was tough.
